Jabloteh holds top spot after Match Day Two

Defending League champions CLICO San Juan Jabloteh are now heading the Digicel Pro League standings with maximum points following a 2-1 victory against St Ann’s Rangers on Tuesday night at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
Cyrano Glen and Ataulla Guerra both scored in the first half for a 2-0 cushion and despite a second half penalty registred by Rangers’ Josimar Belgrave, the back-to-back winning League champions are showing signs of another impressive season.
Jabloteh, the only team after Match Day Two with maximum six points are followed by Defence Force in second, Joe Public in third and Police FC in fourth all with four points.
Cyrano Glen crashed an effort onto the crossbar and back into play in the 13th minute and three minutes later he missed the target by a whisker after goalkeeper Javan Seegobin blocked out the initial effort by Jason Marcano from inside the area as Jabloteh showed early signs of what was to come.
In the 21st Marcano pulled one wide of far post with only the goalkeeper to beat after a neat string of passes between Cyrano Glen, Ataulla Guerra and Marvin Oliver.
But in the 27th minute Cyrano Glen made up for earlier mistakes curling a shot past goalkeeper Seegobin from 24 yards out giving Jabloteh a hard fought 1-0 advantage.
Rangers came close to levelling the score but in the 29th minute Cleon John was timely to disposes Errol Mc Farlane just above the six yard area in one of the St Ann’s based club openings.
Three minutes later Mc Farlane provided a clinical pass splitting the Jabloteh defence to find teammate Josimar Belgrave towards goal however the play was halted by the referee’s assistant for the offside infringement.
Jabloteh were cushioned in the 35th minute with a 2-0 advantage after Marcano guided Elijah Manners’ low cross from the right onto the upright and into the back of the net.
Two minutes into the second half and Jabloteh were at it again with Cyrano Glen inches wide of Seegobin’s upright after flicking on with a header a long ball into the area by Elton John.
Seegobin was later spared by a misqued effort by Marcano in the 52nd minute after his defence was left beaten by Cyrano Glen’s cross into the area.
Rangers then had a go at goal through defender Jerome Charles a minute later but his shot directed
In the 55th minute Guerra rocked the Rangers post with a blast from the edge of the area as Seegobin survived what would have been the goal of the match.
Jabloteh continued to dominate the match creating more chances through Glen and Marcano before Glen was later replaced in the 69th minute by Hector Sam.
Seegobin was alive again in the 74th minute when Guerra directed a diving header onto him before it made its way out for a corner.
However Jabloteh defender Anton Hutchinson gave Rangers a lifeline in the 77th minute bringing down Christon Thomas inside the area giving referee Gordon Meloney no chance but to point at the spot.
Josimar Belgrave comfortably converted the resulting penalty after two tries—with teammate Errol Mc Farlane running into the area on the first take forcing referee Maloney to call for a retake—for a 2-1 score in the 79th minute.
The match proceeded with more contest coming out of Rangers but that wasn’t enough for the Anthony Streete coached side at the final whistle who are now seventh on the standings with just one point.

Star studded Petrotrin scrapes past Ma Pau

Former Trinidad and Tobago international Nigel Daniel second half free kick item rescued United Petrotrin from a stalemate against Ma Pau SC in their opening match of the 2009 Digicel Pro League season on Tuesday at Larry Gomes Stadium.
Daniel’s 51st minute free kick item earned Coach Marcos Tinoco a 1-0 win and maximum points in his first match of the season after receiving a bye in Round One Match Day One.
Ma Pau with their young and somewhat inexperienced squad proved a stern test for the experience boasting United Petrotrin (hosting players such as Arnold Dwarika, Gary Glasgow, Cyd Gray and Nigel Pierre in their starting lineup) despite going under to Daniel’s item.
United Petrotrin are 5th on the standings after their first match with 3 points while Ma Pau SC are just below in 6th with 3 points after two matches.
United Petrotrin’s foreign import goalie Edgar Ospina pulled off a magnificent save measuring Anthony Wolfe’s superb strike from 35 yards out in the 16th minute pushing it out for a corner.
Ma Pau then survived a goal in the 31st minute when the referee’s assistant waved offside after Nigel Pierre knocked in a spilled effort by goalkeeper after Gary Glasgow’s initial effort from the right.
Ma Pau defence had the southerners locked out in the early stages forcing and ambitious attempt by Devon Caseman in the 35th minute from outside the area which trickled past Jamaican Shane Mattis’ upright.
Three minutes from the break Nigel Pierre’s volley was parried before gathered by Mattis and a minute later Gary Glasgow had a much better opportunity inside the area after picking up a long pass from Arnold Dwarika but his low attempt was blocked out by the Ma Pau goalie for a corner.
Six minutes into the second period Nigel Daniel broke the deadlock with a well taken free kick from 23 yards out beating a full stretched Mattis at near post for a 1-0 score after Kennedy Hinkson was brought down outside the area.
Daniel tried his luck again in the 61st from the exact spot of his earlier goalscoring kick after the same Hinkson went down under the challenge of Akeem Benjamin. However Daniel’s shot lacked the pace and direction, making it an easy gather for Mattis.
Ma Pau’s inexperienced defence continued to give away the free kicks with Aquil Selby being the culprit four minutes later but they were fortunate to see Devon Caseman’s effort wide of their post.
Ma Pau had a rare goalmouth opportunity against an experienced defence with Cyd Gray, Ian Gray, Lyndon Diaz and Makan Hislop in the 69th minute when Shandell Samuel used his pace to get past his marker to square a pass into the direction of teammate Anthony Wolfe, however their effort was clattered away by Gray and goalkeeper Ospina.
Coach Michael Mc Comie then introduced Tobagonian Trevin Caesar replacing Keeron Benito in the last thirty and he brought some life into the match having two brilliant tries at the Ospina’s goal in the 72nd and 76th minutes earning applauds from the crowd.
Eight minutes from time and Ma Pau failed to level the score through Rennie Brito when he struck well wide of the post from inside the area after being picked out brilliantly by Anthony Wolfe’s long cross.
However time ran out in Ma Pau’s efforts for a comeback with United Petrotrin’s late substitute Simeon Augustus having the last attempt on goal which scraped just wide of far post.

W Connection held by South End

FC South End moved up two places on the 2009 Digicel Pro League standings following a shocking 1-1 draw against W Connection at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium on Tuesday night.
Anthony Hanes registered 56th minute strike which cancelled out W Connection’s Hughton Hector’s first half item.
Hector scored in the 27th minute however his team didn’t preserve that lead until the end against the League newcomers.
Prior to the match South End were at the bottom of the 11-team standings following a 4-1 defeat against Defence Force over the weekend.
But now the Anthony Rougier coached team will have alot to boast about holding the Stuart Charles Fevrier coached side.
Despite their draw, W Connection moved up one spot on the standings into eight while South End are just below in ninth both having one point each to their names.
W Connection failed to get off to a good start on Super Friday, falling victims to CLICO San Juan Jabloteh 2-1. Jabloteh now lead the standings with maximum 6 points after Round Two Match Day Two.

Six goals were scored on Tueday afternoon at the Marvin Lee Stadium when Defence Force travelled east at the Marvin Lee Stadium against home team Joe Public, however no winner surfaced in the goals spree.
At the final whistle the score remained 3-3 as both teams had to settle for a point each putting Defence Force in second and Joe Public in third on the League Standings after Round Two Match Day Two of the 2009 Digicel Pro League.
Both coming off wins in their previous matches against FC South End and Caledonia AIA respectively proved that they were going to put on a true contest.
Christopher Durity opened the scoring in the 7th minute for Defence Force before Joe Public’s Kerry Baptiste volleyed his team’s opening item in the 27th minute and Akeil Guevarra blast from outside the area in the 41st minute—both coming off goals on Friday—made it 2-1 in favour of the home team.
Trinidad and Tobago international Aklie Edwards then levelled the scores 2-2 before the half with a 43rd minute strike.
In the second period the stern contest continued and Seon Power headed in Kerry Baptiste’s freekick to take the lead in the 82nd minute.
But three minutes from time after a scramble inside the Joe Public area, Jerwin Balthazar notched in the all important equalizer leaving the scores 3-3 at the end.

Police FC continued their fine showing and goalscoring form this week when they defeated visiting Tobago United 2-1 at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Couva on Tuesday afternoon in Round One Match Day Two action.
Former St Ann’s Rangers player Todd Ryan registered a double, netting on either side of the half to lead the lawmen to their first victory since returning to the Pro League this season.
Police FC are now without a loss after Day Two following their thrilling 3-3 draw against St Ann’s Rangers on Saturday at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
Ryan netted in the 43rd and 76th minutes while Tobago United’s Reginald Payne pulled one back in the 83rd minute to finish the match 2-1.
Police are with four points and fourth on the standings while the Tobagonians with their second loss in as many matches are at the bottom of the table with zero points.

The news report was pretty much sound. I didn't even see Aurtis on the bench. The Daniel freekick was a beauty from where I sat. Dwarika looking the fittest I saw him in a long time. He was playing a kinda attacking/defensive/roving midfield role and still spraying telling passes all over the pitch. Nigel 'Croc' Pierre was his usual self...didn't cause the defense any bother at all, but he and Glasgow and Dwarika combined well with some crafty one touch passes in the 18 yd box that had Ma Pau looking in shambles, however Glasgow was his usual self with throwing away his regular quota of goals. UP defence marshalled by VERY BIG defenders of which CYD is the smallest. Ian Gray formerly of Jabloteh with Cyd was in a no-nonsense mood and was sharing level blade. Cyd had a good game, making plenty overlapping runs down the flank with telling effect.
Ma Pau didn't play bad either, you could tell they lacking experience, but against UP they fought well. It was good to see Golden Boot winner Wolfe playing in the forward line too for a change.

Something has to be done about this team Tobago UTD. Either Granville goes or they sell the club to someone who really cares about the people of Tobago and their pride. this is past rediculous. This man should be in the stands catching nuts for Jumbo , not coaching! No one could convince me that the personnel on this team is so poor that they cant even beat the newcomers. I wish the owners either get rid of granville or sell the club. I think even BSC might do abetter job than Granville.

Two-time defending champions of the Digicel Pro League, Clico San Juan Jabloteh remained top of the table after eking out a 1-0 win over Tobago United at the Plymouth Recreation Ground, Tobago, yesterday. Jabloteh, who beat Haitian club Tempete FC 2-1 on Sunday in the Caribbean Football Union third place play-off, got their lone goal in the 76th minute from the penalty spot through Elton John.
It was the third straight win for Jabloteh who now lead the 11-team table with the maximum nine points. Down South, at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground, former national midfielder Arnold Dwarika scored a pair of goals as United Petrotrin trounced Police 4-0. Dwarika, signed in the off-season after being released by Joe Public fired Petrotrin ahead four minutes before half-time.
The “Oilmen,” who were once again without the services of off-season signing Trent Noel—the 2008 league “Most Valuable Player”—doubled their lead in the 55th minute thanks to an own goal from Police’s Randy Harris before Dwarika (62nd minute) and another ex-Joe Public player Gary Glasgow (88th) added strikes. In the other early match played, Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille came from behind to defeat Ma Pau 2-1 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar for its first win.
All the goals at Malabar came in the space of four minutes as St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Shandel Samuel’s 45th minute strike put Ma Pau ahead 1-0. But, on the resumption, Kerry Daniel (48th) and Keyon Edwards (49th) scored for Caledonia to turn the match on its head. Newly crowned Caribbean Football Union Club Championship winners, W Connection met St Ann’s Rangers while South End faced Joe Public in a late double-header at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Defence Force was on a bye.

Big Mag and I and 2 family friends went the Connection vs J.public (2-2) Kerry Baptiste scored both for Public and seems to be enjoying his striker role...
We sat with the legend...(latas..if yuh didnt know already)
Obviously I cant reveal anything on team selection
Then we went over to the Jab vs Petro game(1-1 Dwarika with a sweet volley and Marvin Oliver after good work by Atullah Guerra to set him up)... Latas sat with Vranes and others for that one.. but behind my seat was Legend 14 Stern John..he have a back spasm but he's confident he will be fine... Also Scotty and a couple others from the team were there.
Now this was the second game and Nigel Daniel was tops...and he was playing LB.. Everyone around was like why this man not on the National team? Remember he got a bad knee injury i think last year so.. but he fit, intelligent, aggressive, and can attack and defend very well..
So if Latas was as impressed as everyone else...N.Daniel could get a call up?
Petrotrin change formation alot... Cyd played RB for about 40 mins and looked Solid..then he played a roaming CDM ...he needs some match fitness still but he was not easy to pass...and the blade not dull.. LEGEND
Guerra was good but his attitude is poor...he also has a hot temper... he elbowed i think Nigel Daniel in the 1st half.. should have been a red but got a yellow...and they had about 2 handbags sessions and he was in the thick of things... One CR or Mexico player give him talk he will lash out.. no doubt about it
Pro League level was very decent today... Connection being the poorest of the 4 and Jabloteh and Petrotrin being the top teams in Overall ability... Public are dangerous as well

I went to see the jabloteh vs Cali yesterday and believe me when i tell you Cali run Jabloteh to de ground. So W connect, Petrotrin, Cali, Jabloteh, Joe Public have all had good starts. Even Mau Pau not doing to bad.
Should be a tighter season.

Tobago United earned their first point for the 2009 Digicel Pro League season on Tuesday afternoon in a 1-1 draw against visiting St Ann’s Rangers at the Plymouth Recreation Ground.
United fresh from their Lucozade Sport Goal Shield qualifying 5-3 penalty win against Police FC last Friday got their decisive item six minutes from time against Rangers in the rescheduled Round One Match Day Four clash.
Kelvin Smith had to bites in the 84th after his initial header on goal from a corner was parried by goalkeeper Javan Seegobin, but unfortunately for Rangers’ goalie the ball fell back to Smith and he made sure he didn’t miss on the second try, blasting in goal to level the scores 1-1.
Smith’s item levelled that of Rangers’ Elijah Belgrave which was scored in the 72nd minute after out he outran the Tobago defence to latch onto a long pass from the right and beat goalkeeper Richard Reynolds.
Tobago celebrated their first point after five matches in the domestic League, however remain at the bottom of the standings in 11th position.
Tuesday’s rescheduled match had more to it than 1-1 draw when Tobago coach Peter Granville was removed from his technical bench in the 90th minute for using abusive language against the fourth official.
Rangers remain in 8th position with 5 points, one point behind Ma Pau SC and one point better than FC SouthEnd and Police FC.

I was at this game....Tobago Utd. again could have wone this game easily but they continue to fail to take their chances.......
That being said they got the ball in the back of the net and it was rulled out.... in questionable circunstances.
Also in this game 2 Petrotrin players...Whitley being one of them.... saw red cards for decent.......must have had something really bad to say to the ast. referee as he stopped the game for Whitley to be sent off....(didn't know that they could do that)....
That being said even down to 9 men and they were still competetive.
Please note that the Tobago Utd defence has not conceeded many goals this season...their problem is scorring.
P.S. The coach Peter Granville was not at the game. He was sent off during the last game that they had. Not even his brother, who seems to be his right hand man was seen at the venue.
Information is that Peter is out of the country.

It could have had about 30 to 50 people....they have used their heads in pairing Tobago United's games with games in the Plymouth Village league so they getting bette turn out......even if people really comming to watch the Plymouth League ;)

Connection edge Jabloteh in Goal Shield semis brawl

W Connection Dominican Republic striker Jonathon Frias’ first half item was the deciding one in his team’s 1-0 victory over bitter rivals San Juan Jabloteh on Friday night the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in which four red cards were issued.
Match referee Geoffrey Hospidales was in the spotlight for a number of reasons including four red cards issued during the battle between the two Pro League powerhouses in the semi-finals of the 2009 Lucozade Sport Goal Shield.
Both Jabloteh and Connection fell a man down minutes into the match after a fist fight between Robert Primus and Matthew Bartholomew following goalkeeper Cleon John’s magnificent save denying Andre Toussaint at close range.
Both players in the incident were awarded direct red cards by referee Hospidales who surely didn’t have the slightest clue that his red card will have to work again.
Ten minutes from time Hospidales dished out another serving of red cards dismissing Jabloteh’s Ataulla Guerra and W Connection’s Christian Viveros as the match went into disarray reducing the teams to nine-men each after a scuffle between both players following a challenge in midfield.
However in the end it was Frias’ decisive item which ruled for a 1-0 score in favour of the Southerners booking their team into the Final on Friday 26 against earlier semi-final winner Defence Force in a 3-1 win over United Petrotrin.
Frias is currently leading the way with 3 goals in the tournament following his double against Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille in the quarterfinals.
Following the first issue of red cards Jabloteh coach Earl Jean made a defensive change in the 22nd minute replacing forward Cyrano Glen with defender Anton Hutchinson.
But that didn’t stop Jabloteh from pressing forward having a couple tries at the Connection goal with wingback Noel Williams having the best try in the 28th minute whisking a powerful shot past Miguel Lloyd’s far post.
Cleon John was brilliant again in the 32nd minute blocking out a well taken William Da Silva Oliveira free kick from 23 yards out after Hector went down under Hutchinson’s challenge.
However John was unable to stop Jonathon Frias’ blast from inside the area after the Jabloteh defence failed to clear an initial freekick to safety in the 37th minute as Connection stole a 1-0 advantage which they kept till the half time whistle.
The second half proved a tight contest between the Pro League powerhouses but had its openings.
In the67th minute Toussaint hammered wide of John’s net and less than a minute later on the other end goalkeeper Lloyd got his gloves to Ataulla Guerra’s curling effort from inside the area putting it off.
The crowd got something to roar about when in the 77th minute Marvin Oliver’s on target header from Elton john’s freekick was acrobatically cleared off the line by W Connection captain Elijah Joseph to preserve his team’s advantage.
While Jabloteh’s appeal for the goal only awarded captian Marvin Oliver a yellow card for abusive language on the far assistant.
Less than a minute later W Connection Colombian midfielder Christian Viveros thought he had given his team a 2-0 advantage, however it was ruled offside and his celebrations cancelled prior to his dismissal in the 80th minute.
Connection had another item ruled offside in the dying stages as referee Hospidales received taunts from the crowd at the Marabella venue.
Six minutes from time Noel whisked a shot from distance over Lloyd’s crossbar and in the final minute of regular time Elton John was inches too high of levelling the scores from 35 yards out and giving his team a lifeline.

Carter guides Army past Oilmen in Lucozade Sport semis

Kevon Carter registered a goal on either side of the half to help Defence Force overcome United Petrotrin 3-1 in the semi-finals of the 2009 Lucozade Sport Goal Shield on Friday night at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium.
Carter silenced the Oilmen seconds before the halftime whistle for a 1-0 advantage and made certain of the victory when he completed his double six minutes from fulltime.
United Petrotrin had levelled the scores eight minutes following the break with a Nigel Daniel 25 yard free kick but were at a one goal deficit again in the 77th minute when Devon Jorsling netted for Army.
Defence Force are now into the Final against W Connection, after the Savonnetta Boys edged past San Juan Jabloteh 1-0 in the second semifinal clash at the Marabella venue.
United Petrotrin had the best opening effort when Devon Caseman’s 12th minute shot from 25 yards out had to be tipped behind by Kevin Graham.
The resulting corner saw Cyd Gray flick an attempt on near post and Graham was again alert to gather this time.
A minute later Aurtis Whitley had a decent attempt on goal from above the area after meeting Kennedy Hinkson’s pass from the right but was able to beat the Army custodian.
Carter was disappointing in the 22nd minute hitting a tame leftfooted shot on goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel from the edge of the six yard area in which the Petrotrin goalie responded with an easy push-out.
Five minutes later on the other end Gary Glasgow directed a cross overbar from inside the six yard area after a mix-up between goalkeeper Graham and defender Keston Williams.
Kwame Wiltshire was another offtarget player hitting into the sky after being teed-up by Glasgow inside the Defence Force area as both teams flopped at their chances.
Carter had the ball into United Petrotrin’s far netting in the 32nd minute however it was ruled out for the offside infringement.
Carter finally got in the 45th minute giving Defence Force a 1-0 advantage heading into the half after a well orchestrated play by the soldiers beginning with Micahel Edwards’ ball winning tackle inside their half. United Petrotrin made a couple of half clearances before Carter smashed the ball into Samuel’s far netting.
Eight minutes into the second half and Petrotrin were back in the game 1-1 courtesy a well placed free kick by Nigel Daniel beating Graham from 25 yards out after referee Lee Davis awarded the Oilmen a freekick after an Anton Pierre challenge on Kennedy Hinkson—in which Pierre confessed he won the ball and not the player.
Army created a couple openings later on however muffed at their chances forcing coach Ross Russell to call on Owen Mathews in the 71st minute—hoping for the same effect he had against Joe Public in the quarterfinals when he rescued them in the 90th minute for a 1-1 draw and then scoring the final kick in a 4-2 penalty win.
However it was starting strikers Devon Jorsling and Kevon Carter who came to Russell’s rescue in the 77th and 84th minutes for a 3-1victory.
Jorsling met Balthazar’s cross inside the area and did what was expected of him beating Samuel for a 2-1 score and Kevon Carter later left defenders Cyd Gray and Makan Hislop for dead inside the area before placing the ball well out of Samuel’s stretch and into the far corner to secure a 3-1 and the Soldiers place in the Final of the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield on Friday June 26.

W-Connection beat Defence Force 3-0. Ah manage to ketch de last 20 mins of de game, and from de little dat I saw, Connection was running rings around de Army. Jonathan Frias was having ah time wit dem Army defenders. Connection was playing ah nice brand. Shahdon Winchester get ah sweat, and he was looking lively up front. He scored ah header, but it was ruled offside; would like to see more of him. Kenwyne, Carlos, Keon, Rougier, Lincoln Phillips, Hutson Charles, Buy some nuts from meh nah, Nuts Landing, and Ralphie were in de crowd.

Didnt catch the 1st game but it looked like the Pro LEague coaches included Latas, Leonson Lewis, Mc Comie,
Hutson Charles,Clayton Morris, Dexter Skeene, didnt catch others as they were making their way off the field.
Defence Forcev W Connection was very one sided. The south crowd appreaciates god fball, and you could hear the constant moans about the nonesense played on the field. Denfence Force contained 3 ex national players in their backline in Carry Harris, Anton Pierre, and Micheal Edwards, but still could not get their marking, covering etc right. Pierre was ok in the air , but is very slow and goes to ground for almost everything (like most of the DF players).
Connection looked a bit betterin their passing and movement in what was a very ubeventful 1st half. Frias scored off a tru ball from Hector I think, after the keeper blocked his 1st attempt.. C Harris was sent off for a stupid push late in the 1st half and das where the game ended as a contest.
2nd half saw a game of essientially backs and fwds with connection playing soley on the counterand Army just booming it up 2 carter and Jorsling. Toussiant scored a good goal racing tru the stagnant Army defence to beat the keeper with a low shot, then after constant attacks, Frias gt his second with an angled shot late. The ARmy keeper saved them from getting alot more...
Jorsling was good at holding up the ball, but was frustrated all night by a lack of support.
Carter was ok and showed how quick he is by constantly getting around the Connection backs .
Toussiant was good and showed god composure and control, but missed a couplr chances close in.
Hector wasnt tested today as he was free all game and just did his thing...
MArvin Phillip was also on the Connection bench
2 QUESTIONS- 1. Why is Akile Edwards on the NT, and cant get a game for Army?(he was on the bench all game)
2. NIcholson Thomas getting picked and Kern Cupid starts at rb for W connection....????(I heard he was injured but i dnt know, cuz he was on the bench for the carribean club champ final.)

What I like about W Connection is, they blood they youth players in games other than the Pro League. A page from Alex Ferguson's book.
They building nuff depth and this is excellent.
Having 22 players at one level is very important.
I predict they will do very well in the CONCACAF Cup.
Hope Jabloteh do the same.

Some pro-league musings...
I see Jabloteh 4 points clear of de 2nd place team Cali, but their goal count is poor. In league play Kerry Baptiste alone has more goals than the entire Jabloteh team combined. They missing a goal scorer bad. On the other hand they have the stingiest D in the whole league, only 4 goals allowed. So right now three 19 year olds and a 21 year old form arguably the best defensive unit in the country. And the only one who get a sniff of the NT was Primus in Argentina.
Jonathan Frias is Connection version of Stern John, when they HAVE to win he is the man who scores their goals. Looking for big things from him in CCL god willing.
Except for a goalie Petrotrin running an All-Trinbago lineup, and it looking like Glenroy Samuel will be the #1 this year anyway. Plus he have Cyd, Ian Gray, and Makan to back him up. Dwarika is the starboy. Trent Noel still eating purina.
Ma Pau has 3 U20 NT players including Curtis Gonzales and Molino and a U17 defender in their 1st squad. And they in 5th place. Hat to say it but McComie doing a decent job considering....
And least and definitely last Tobago United. This team getting chance after chance beacuse they supposed to represent and give Tobago players a chance, but they have more foreign players than any other team. They have more Guyanese players than Cali! IMO foreign players enhance the League, but if Tobago U not doing anything for youths on the island and not even sporting a youth team they should drink a tall glass of relegation juice.
Overall the league is taking a cue from Jabloteh and moving toward building their teams around younger local based players.

Jabloteh extend lead

San Juan Jabloteh extended their unbeaten run in the League to eight matches this season after winning it early against Police FC in Friday night’s Super Friday at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Jabloteh won the match 3-0 registering all three goals within a five minute period early in the match boosting their position at the top of the Digicel Pro League standings to 20 points, seven points clear of closest challengers Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille who have two matches in hand.
Police FC remain in tenth position with just five points as the struggle to find footing this season.
Former Police player Noel Williams was the first to hurt the lawmen firing Jabloteh ahead in the 7th minute after making a surging run forward teaming up with Jason Marcano up front.
Two minutes later defender Sheldon Bateau volleyed into the Police net after Jason Marcano’s corner was flicked on into his path at far post giving the leaders a 2-0 cushion.
Marcano Marcano then made it 3-0 in the 11th minute after slipping the ball through goalkeeper Anthony Marshall legs, as Jabloteh showed their dominance early.
Marcano failed add another two minutes later wasting time at the edge of the Police area allowing defenders to close him down before hitting a low shot which was gathered comfortably by Marshall.
Ataulla Guerra failed to add to Police’s miseries hitting directly at goalkeeper Marshall after collecting a neat through-ball inside the area a couple minutes later.
Guerra had two more close misses with the better in the 39th minute whisking just wide of Marshall’s far upright after a neat short pass by Devon Jamerson.
Guerra got closer to registering an item of his own hitting the upright in the 41st minute after showing brilliant skill against the Police defence and the rebound was guided just wide by Marcano’s acrobatic attempt.
Macano, Jabloteh’s most mobile player, injured himself in the process and didn’t return to the pitch in the second period with Cyrano Glen filling his position—a change that proved in Police’s favor.
Police’s only real attempt on goal in the first half came in the 45th minute when Kaaron Foster unleashed an ambitious attempt from 25 yards out however it was easily gathered by goalkeeper Cleon John.
Seven minutes into the second half former Jabloteh midfielder Wendell Joseph unleashed a shot from distance proving that there was life in the ‘lawmen’.
Police goalkeeper Marshall then made gather on Guerra’s blast from distance as the Jabloteh midfielder continued to do everything right but put the ball in the back of the net.
Marshall however, had a much better half in the second making a couple good saves, one of which denied substitute Cyrano Glen in the 76th minute.
Police went a man down after Devon Bristol picked up his second yellow of the match in which referee Lee Davis didn’t hesitate to dish out five minutes from time.
Police had a great opportunity in the final minute of regulation time initiated by Hayden Jones in the middle of the park threading a pass to teammate Keion Wilson who whipped in an early cross however Jones directed it over Cleon John’s crossbar.
Cyrano Glen was denied seconds later by the fingertips of Marshall after hitting from outside the area and a couple minutes into injury time, Jabloteh lost wingback Noel Williams to a second yellow card as both teams ended with 10-men each.

Fighting Defence Force go under against Connection

Dominican Republic striker Jonathon Frias scored a late winner to help W Connection overcome revenge seeking Defence Force 2-1 in their Super Friday clash at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Just one week ago Frias netted a double against the soldiers in the Final of the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield helping W Connection to a 3-0 victory.
Defence Force were seeking revenge after that defeat and proved a completely different team however lacked clinical finishing through strikers Kevon Carter and Devorn Jorsling.
They paid dearly for their missed chances when in injury time Jonathon Frias guided Andre Toussaint’s short cross into their net after disarray in coach Ross Russell’s defence allowing Connection to steal a 2-1 victory.
W Connection moved up one spot into fifth now with 11 points while Defence Force remain in 8th position with 7 points after Friday’s clash.
Andrei Pacheco injected life into the crowd when he broke the deadlock in the 70th minute giving Connection a 1-0 advantage—only two minutes after coming on—but the scores were levelled 1-1 in the 89th minute when Defence Force substitute Richard Roy hammered a low free-kick which took a deflection beating goalkeeper Miguel Lloyd.
Defence Force started brightly opening up chances at Connection goal however failed to put the ball into the back of the net with Jerwyn Balthazar getting the best opportunity one on one with goalkeeper Miguel Lloyd in the 19th minute. But Lloyd kept his composure after his defence was left beaten and closed down Bartholomew to gather to shot.
Kevon Carter had a similar opportunity 38th minute and toe punched wide of Lloyd’s far post after a decent through-ball by Devorn Jorsling which opened up the play.
Connection had an opportunity in the 43rd minute after Igor Santos found Andre Toussaint on the left but Toussaint’s low left-footed shot was disappointingly wide of Kevin Graham’s far post.
And in the 45th minute saw shots on either side off the half, however no goals before the break. Kevon Carter striking wide of Lloyd’s upright and Igor Santos’ tame shot from distance was easily gathered by Graham.
Two minutes into the second half Graham made a brilliant blockout on W Connection’s Frias at close range.
And in the 52nd Graham survived conceding a goal after Renato Pereria’s header on goal from a corner bounced into the ground and safely over the Army crossbar.
Five minutes later on the other end Jorsling’s attempt to chest Ronald St Louis’ cross from the right turned into an attempt on goal but to Lloyd’s delight it only nestled on the top of the netting.
Devon Jorsling had great opportunity in the 66th after eluding two defenders but flopped letting off his shot from outside the area and making it an easy take for Lloyd instead of using the free-room inside the penalty area and take on the Connection goalie.
However it was Connection who broke the deadlock in the 70th minute through substitute Andrei Pacheco volleying past Graham off Kern Cupid’s cross just two minutes after coming off the bench giving coach Stuart Charles Fevrier a 1-0 advantage.
Teammate Frias had a go at goal in the 84th minute after receiving a pass from Christian Viveros however directed his effort at goalkeeper Graham.
Army got back into the match when substitute Richard Roy levelled the scores 1-1 in the 89th minute with a powerfully struck low freekick from 22 yards out which took a wicked deflection to beat Llloyd.
But Defence Force gave up in added on time when captain Michael Edwards failed to make a clearance ahead of Andre Toussaint creating disarray after goalkeeper Graham was left in no man’s land after putting off Toussaint.
Toussaint never gave up and worked in a short cross from the right and Frias guided it into the net for a 2-1 finish.

Ma Pau climb into 3rd
Coach Micheal McComie is currently glowing at the moment with Ma Pau SC after guiding them into third position on the Digicel Pro League standings following Match Day Eight.
Ma Pau defeated ailing St Ann's Rangers 3-1 on Saturday at the Marvin Lee Stadium to leap from sixth position to third with 12 points.
It’s only Ma Pau second season at the Pro League level and McComie's first season in charge at the Woodbrook based club and he is surely enjoying it.
Surely the directors at Ma Pau are also boasting smiles having hired the former Joe Public coach late, prematurely axing pre-season signing coach Ubirajara Veiga Da Silva of Brazil.
Meantime title challengers Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille kept the chase on leaders San Juan Jabloteh(20 points) when they defeated FC SouthEnd 2-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium and are now with 16points and remain second on the standings.
Kerry Daniel registered the first item in the 25th minute and Keon Edwards in the 75th minute to give the Jamaal Shabazz coached side the 2-0 victory.
In the other Match Day Eight clash it was a goalless brawl between United Petrotrin and Joe Public down at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground in which three red cards where dished out and even United Petrotrin team manager Larry Lalchan was removed from the bench.
But it was sunshine in the north for Michael McComie when in the second half Kevin Molineau(52nd), Sayid Freitas(83rd) and Anthony Wolfe(90th penalty) secured victory.
Rangers got their single item on the hour mark through a penalty by Captain Errol Mc Farlane.
Rangers remain in seventh position with 8points after Saturday's loss and the way things are going, the guys of St Ann’s could follow last season’s failure to miss out on a Big Six spot.
W Connection are back in sixth position with Joe Public dropping into fourth and United Petrotrin dropping into fifth following Ma Pau's upward movement.
Connection were 2-1 winners against Defence Force in the second match of Match Day Eight Super Friday and had moved into fifth from sixth prior to Ma Pau's Saturday victory.
In the earlier Super Friday clash at the Marvin Lee Stadium League leaders San Juan Jabloteh registered three first half items to trash Police FC 3-0.

unfortunately I could not attend. I dont know the scores. For all the foreigners... Please dont think the locals have any more info than you have. When it comes to Pro league in TnT, MuMs the Word. Not the newspaper, not the TV nothing gives you pre-info. Only post info. Horrible. It must be that Romany and dem not spendin de money and taking it for granted that local news is reported without local funds being applied.
Not here. Its news when you pay for it or unless someone gets killed.

Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille could be the new League leaders next Friday when the take on W Connection at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Round One Match Day Ten.
Caledonia were 1-0 winners against United Petrotrin on Tuesday down at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground and are now with 19 points and a match in hand, one point less than current leaders San Juan Jabloteh.
A victory against W Connection on Super Friday will put the Morvant Laventille two points over San Juan Jabloteh who are on a bye in the next match day or even a draw will put the Jamaal Shabazz coached side ahead with the better goals difference.
Connection finished 1-1 against Ma Pau SC while Keyon Edwards’ 67th minute item secured maximum points for the Morvant Laventille based squad this week against the Oilmen.
Edwards is now with 11 goals in the League and has been Caledonia's saviour this season boosting the 2008 FA Trophy and Courts Pro Bowl winners' chances of the 2009 League title.
In other results Marcus Joseph registered a double, netting in the 42nd and 46th minutes, to hand FC SouthEnd a 2-0 victory against St Ann’s Rangers and Tobago United and Defence Force played to a goalless draw.
And at the Marvin Lee Stadium Joe Public ended San Juan Jabloteh’s unbeaten League run with a 4-0 win with former Jabloteh player Kerry Baptiste registering a double and Ma Pau SC shocked W Connection with a 1-1 draw.

Kerry Baptiste registered a double on Tuesday night at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Joe Public’s 4-0 mauling League leaders San Juan Jabloteh putting a end the Earl Jean coached side unbeaten run in the Digicel Pro League.
Hayden Tinto and Tiba McKnight were the other players to get on the scoresheet in the second match of a Round One Match Day Nine double header at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Joe Public opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Hayden Tinto dispossessed Lester Peltier before finding Kerry Baptiste inside the area and the ace finisher made no mistake slotting the ball past Cleon John for a 1-0 advantage.
And Tinto made it 2-0 three minutes later picking up on a defensive lapse to shoot through an onrushing Cleon John giving the Lions comfort.
Coach Earl Jean’s problems tripled just before the half hour mark when he had to replace injured Jason Marcano with Hector Sam.
Later on Baptiste miscued inside the Jabloteh penalty area in what should have been his second item of the match after picking up an errant header by defender Karlon Murray.
Jabloteh’s only real attempt on goal of the half ended in a weak header on goal by Marvin Oliver after a long pass forward by Elton John in the 42nd minute.
Following the break Joe Public added another goal in the 53rd minute when McKnight got onto the scoresheet with a neat finish into Cleon John’s far netting for a 3-0 comfort.
And in the 58th minute Jabloteh’s chances of a comeback were buried when referee Ishmael Mohammed awarded the Lions a penalty to the surprise of the fans after Micah Lewis went to ground under an Elton John challenge.
Kerry Baptiste took the penalty with confidence beating John and wrapped up the scoring 4-0 and his personal tally to 12 goals in the League.
Jabloteh looked dismantled with little chances to applaud.
Lester Peltier mustered up a shot on goal from distance ten minutes from time but that was comfortably gathered by Alejandro Figueroa.
And two minutes later substitute Cyrano Glen entirely missed Kevaughn Connell’s low cross at far post in what should have given Jabloteh a goal.
Joe Public were reduced to ten-men in the 89th minute when Carlyle Mitchell received his second yellow of the match after bringing down Cyrano Glen just outside his area.
Jabloteh had one last attempt to salvage a goal but were inches off when defender Sheldon Bateau unleashed a shot from distance which missed Figueroa’s crossbar.
Despite the embarrassing defeat Jabloteh remain at the top of the standings but stand to lose that position on Friday if Caledonia AIA could register a victory or even a draw against W Connection.
Caledonia are one point less than Jabloteh’s 20 points but hold a much better goals difference.
Meantime Joe Public have maintained their third position with a boosted 15 points and will face Tobago United in their next match.

Ma Pau SC maintained their fourth position on the Digicel Pro League standings after Match Day Nine thanks to a second half penalty strike by Anthony Wolfe against W Connection.
Wolfe, a second half substitute registered the important item in the 61st minute which levelled the scores 1-1 after Hughton Hector had Connection at a one goal advantage in the first half.
Ma Pau are with 13 points and will face Police FC in Match Day Ten on Saturday while W Connection remain sixth with 12 points.
Connection will face second positioned Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille in this coming Super Friday and will definitely need better finishing than against Ma Pau.
Ma Pau started aggressively with Lyndon Andrews showing leadership in midfield but were outplayed numerous times by the visiting southerners.
Goalkeeper Gefferson George showed good reflex in the 13th minute to gather Jonathon Frias’ pass inside the area which Andre Toussaint failed to connect fully—this was five minutes after George made a gather denying Hector from a freekick.
However George failed to keep out another Hughton Hector freekick in the 17th minute from 23 yards out which clipped the crossbar before bouncing into the goal as Connection celebrated a 1-0 advantage.
W Connection stepped up the pressure and were close to doubling their advantage two minutes later when Igor Santos missed out on Toussaint’s low cross at far post.
Connection survived a shout for penalty when Kevin Molineau dribbling his way past Stuart Charles Fevrier’s defence but went down inside the area under Elijah Joseph’s challenge in the 23rd minute.
On the half hour mark Igor Santos pulled out a brilliant save by George when he blasted an effort from above the area after meeting Jonathon Frias’ pass on the right.
And three minutes later Frias spilled overbar after hooking a shot from just inside the area as Ma Pau showed more and more signs of weakness at the back with Aquil Selby and Akeem Benjamin.
In the 36th minute Andre Toussaint and Frias teamed up for a brilliant play dismantling the Ma Pau defence and goalkeeper George however Toussaint attempt to nestle the ball inside the far post was inches off, as the heavy turnout of Ma Pau supporters
George coming out of retirement this season was brilliant again in the 38th minute denying Frias when he his body behind the Dominican Republic striker’s blast from inside the area.
Three minutes from the half Ma Pau’s Selby had a decent go at goal from a 19 yard set piece in which Miguel Lloyd measured brilliantly punching it out after Lyndon Andrews was tripped outside the edge of the area by Gerrard Williams creating the ‘casino boys’ opportunity.
And seconds before the halftime whistle Lloyd was brilliant against pushing wide from another Ma Pau set piece taken by Andrews.
In the second period coach Michael Mc Comie opted for a stronger attack adding Anthony Wolfe and Shandell Samuel in attack and that restored life in the ‘casino boys’.
Ma Pau then levelled the scores 1-1 in the 61st minute through an Anthony Wolfe taken penalty after referee Rashby Mc Phie pointed to the penalty spot for what seemed to be a handball by defender Renato Pereira off Lyndon Andrews’ corner in the 59th minute.
The second half was a bit even with both Ma Pau and Connection creating spurs of chances but it was surely Connection who remained with the sad faces after missing numerous first half chances.
Connection also had the last effort of the match which Toussaint chipped just wide of George’s upright in injury time.

Connection spoils Caledonia’s party

W Connection players Andrei Pacheco and Jonathon Frias registered a goal each to spoil what could have been leading position for Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille after Match Day Ten.
Connection moved up three spots on the standings following a 2-1 victory with now with 15 points while Caledonia(19 points) failed to jump to the top ahead of San Juan Jabloteh(20 points).
A win for Caledonia would have given the Jamaal Shabazz coached side top spot on the League standings as well as revenge against W Connection remembering their 4-1 defeat in the quarterfinals of the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield in which the southerners went on to win.
Andrei Pacheco gave Connection the opening item in the 22nd minute when he held his footing to scramble the ball over the goalkeeper Dwayne Sandy’s line after holding off his markers to meet Jonathon Frias’ pass inside the area.
In the 31st minute Caledonia’s talisman Keyon Edwards was denied by the crossbar after turning and shooting from just inside the area with a gentle pass from Marcos Abrose before the ball was cleared out by the Connection defence proving a keen contest to follow.
Mathew Bartholomew got close out of little when he flicked William Da Silva Oliveira’s freekick a hairline wide of Sandy’s upright in the 34th minute as Connection searched a second item.
Caledonia failed to level the scores three minutes from the half when Kareem Joseph failed to beat the brilliant gloves of Miguel Lloyd from the spot after referee Rashy Mc Phie pointed to the spot accusing defender Renato Pereria of using the elbow on striker Keyon Edwards.
Caledonia with a couple of second half changes in Densill Theobald and Kester Jacobs on for Kerry Daniel and Nuru Abdallah Muhammed respectively failed to level the scores in the 51st minute when Keyon Edwards tried testing Lloyd from distance however the effort was gathered comfortably by the Connection goalie.
But Connection doubled their advantage in the 55th minute when Jonathon Frias showed his true lethalness to pounce on a Mathew Bartholomew pass inside the area and place it first touch into the net after the entire Caledonia defence went into disarray with goalkeeper Sandy well out of his comfort zone.
Connection got close to adding another on two occasions when Igor Santos tried chipping goalkeeper Sandy in the 74th and Frias denied by crossbar in the 79th after picking up Navarro’s chip into the area.
Their efforts were separated by a Caledonia substitute Keon Daniel strike from distance in the 76th minute in which Lloyd pulled off a decent save.
Caledonia reduced the deficit 2-1 in the 88th minute when Keon Edwards netted his 12th goal of the League this season slipping the ball past Lloyd to nest it inside the far netting however that was the furthest the Morvant Laventille based squad got in terms of a comeback.

Bmobile Joe Public have maintained their third position on the Digicel Pro League standings following a comfortable 3-0 victory against St Ann’s Rangers on Friday night at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Second half substitutes Gorean Highley and Conrod Smith registered a goal each to compliment a first half penalty strike by Kerry Baptiste giving Joe Public maximum points to keep demanding chase on Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille(19 points) and San Juan Jabloteh(20 points).
Joe Public are in third on the standings with 18 points after Match Day Ten recording a four-match unbeaten run while Rangers now holds a three-match beaten run and their sixth overall defeat in the League.
Joe Public shocked all from early with Hayden Tinto, Keyeno Thomas and Kerry Baptiste in their starting line-up as the trio was expected to travel to St Kiits earlier in the day with the Trinidad and Tobago National Team in preparations for Sunday’s friendly against the St Kitts National Team.
In the third minute Akiel Guevara floated a shot just over Javan Seegobin’s cross and a few minutes later Kerry Baptiste headed just wide at far post after a well placed cross by Hayden Tinto as the home side showed the eagerness.
Baptiste then registered Public’s opening item from the penalty spot in the 11th minute comfortably beating a fully stretched Seegobin on the left. Referee Ishmael Mohammed pointed to the spot after defender Jevon Morris clipped down Micah Lewis inside the area.
Baptiste putting his tally this season to 13 goals in 9 matches in the League Championship as the top marksman thus far.
Rangers had a golden opportunity wasted by captain Errol Mc Farlane in the 29th minute hitting clear of Alejandro Figueroa’s goalpost.
Seegobin made a decent save two minutes later denying Baptiste after the Joe Public forward slipped through the middle of defence and tried to slip a low shot past the Rangers’ goalie.
Three minutes later Seegobin nearly punished himself when punched a Kerry Baptiste corner high into the air and onto his crossbar before it was cleared to safety.
In the 36th minute Teba McKnight and Hayden Tinto both failed to meet a low Akiel Guevara cross inside the six yard area in what should have given the Lions a two-goal cushion.
And on the stroke of half time Shem Mc Farlane disappointed the travelling Rangers supporters when he headed wide of Alejandro’s far post after a well placed cross by Jevon Morris from the left.
Three minutes inside the second half and Rangers were on the defensive when Baptiste, well picked out Devon Leacock, had a go at goal missing Seegobin’s far upright by a fraction.
Coach Derek King added fresh legs in striker Gorean Highley replacing Teba McKnight in the 63rd minute and less than minute later Highley headed the ball in the back of Rangers’ net however it was ruled offside by referee Ishmael Mohammed.
Rangers tried with true desperation to recover from being one goal down and had a decent attempt on goal in the 67th minute in which midfielder Devon Modeste spilled just wide.
Gorean Highley failed to add to Joe public’s comfort in the 69th minute when he made one too many touches before letting off a shot from inside the area with the defence getting in his way in the end.
Substitute Highley finally had a goal in the 77th minute giving Joe Public a 2-0 cushion when he volleyed past Seegobin at close range after teammate Tinto mesmerized the Rangers defence to find his teammate on two occasions with the initial effort blocked out by Elijah Belgrave.
Highley was close to adding another in the 87th minute slipping the ball just wide Seegobin’s far post under challenge from his marker.
Substitute Conrod Smith wrapped up the scoring 3-0 in the 89th minute—nine minutes after coming off the bench—when he comfortably guided Baptiste pass past Seegobin from outside the area giving coach Derek King maximum points.
Rangers ended without midfielder Devon Modeste when he picked his second yellow of the half in injury time.

I thought Daniel (Keon) was injured. He played for Cali yesterday. Like Latapy finally sent him home. Hope he rebound because he is a decent player. Densill Theobald was also in Cali's team but both was reported injured.

W Connection are finally getting into grove in the 2009 Digicel Pro League after a slow start while rivals and defending champions San Juan Jabloteh are losing grip.
W Connection are unbeaten in their last five matches following a 1-0 victory over Police FC on Tuesday afternoon at the Ato Boldon Stadium in a rescheduled Round Two Match Day Four clash.
The rescheduled matches are to facilitate W Connection and San Juan Jabloteh participation in the CONCACAF Champions’ League preliminary round stage.
Meantime current League leaders and bitter rivals San Juan Jabloteh suffered their second consecutive defeat going under 1-0 against the young blooded Ma Pau SC whose coaching staff includes former Jabloteh player and assistant coach Angus Eve.
Eve is assistant coach to Michael McComie at the Woodbrook based club but it was Tobagonian Trevin Caesar who punished Jabloteh in the 61st minute scoring the only item of the match.
Ma Pau didn’t move from their fifth position on the League standings but boosted their points to 16 following the rescheduled Round Two Match Day Four clash.
But they did enough to put a pause on Jabloteh who have failed to add points to their 20 at the top of the standings in their last two outings with their previous defeat being a 4-0 trashing against Joe Public.
Brazilian attacking wingback William Da Silva Oliveira scored the lone item in the 17th minute for the 2009 CFU Club Champions and Lucozade Sport Goal Shield champs W Connection against Police on Tuesday in their rescheduled Round Two Match Day Four fixture.
W Connection remain in fourth with 18 points—same as third positioned Joe Public(18 points)—that’s two points behind Jabloteh and one point less than second positioned Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille.
W Connection have already won two titles this season and it’s no suprise that Coach Stuart Charles Fevrier will be putting his all in hopes of capturing the 2009 League championship.
United Petrotrin are in sixth with 13 points, Defence Force seventh with 9 points, FC SouthEnd in eight with 9 points, St Ann’s Rangers ninth with 8 points, Police FC remain tenth with 8 points and Tobago United at the bottom with just 4 points.

I totally agree with you here,it's the same reason nobody supporting the Pro League and peeps talking about sponsors etc we like Football in joke,times have changed,i could understand those people not at home,in these modern times you can't get updates on the leagues in T&T,but we know about every league and everybody all over the world,that never used to be a problem home.

Bottom of the table Tobago United registered their first victory of the 2009 Digicel Pro League on Tuesday night trashing FC SouthEnd 3-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
Sean Cooper(25th), Jason Cudjoe(40th) and Kayode Mc Kinnon(50th) were the goalscorers for the Tobagonians against the southerners.
However Tobago United remain at the bottom of the standings with just 7 points while SouthEnd remain in eight with 9 points after the Round Two Match Day One clash.
At the Larry Gomes Stadium Ma Pau SC pulled back a 1-1 draw against Police FC through Trevin Caesar’s 59th minute strike after Todd Ryann had the lawmen 1-0 up in the 20th minute.
Ma Pau remain fifth on the standings with 15 points while Police moved up one spot into ninth with 9 points.

He look good,played bout 15 mins and didn't make ah bad pass,and had an assist.Not and aggresive player cuz japanese are not tht type,JP got a nice addition to there midfield

The fella really look technically strong...nice first touch and passing ability. He make a nice pass into the 6yd to setup Kerry Baptiste 5th goal. That being said the Rangers defence ent worth much anyway.

I understand that, but as of right now he in ripping form and briming with confidence. No matter how much we may not rate the PFL, the scoring binge he is on is awesome. He score the most in all of Latas training matches to this point, so if nothing else he atleast earns a spot based on that and his current league form.

Hugs were exchanged afterwards as United Petrotrin and Joe Public played out an exciting 1-1 draw yesterday evening in a Digicel Pro League match at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
In their first meeting since last month's brawl between the two teams, veteran Arnold Dwarika converted a penalty to give Petrotrin a 55th minute lead against his former club.
But despite playing a man short from the 55th when goalkeeper Daurance Williams was sent off after giving away the penalty, Joe Public were able to rally and drew level in the 79th when defender Marvin Manswell curled the ball over Petrotrin's Colombian keeper Edgar Ospina from the edge of the area.
The draw kept Joe Public second in the standings to defending Pro League champions San Juan Jabloteh (26 points), who regained the lead on Friday with a 4-3 victory over Police.
Joe Public, on 25 points, were joined by Caledonia AIA, who got a double from Trinidad and Tobago head coach Russell Latapy (8th & 30th) to beat FC South End 2-1 at Ato Boldon Stadium yesterday. Kenrick Ettienne (54th) netted for the losers.
Also yesterday, Ma Pau moved into fourth on 20 points with a 2-0 victory over St Ann's Rangers.
The last meeting between Joe Public and United Petrotrin on July 4 at Palo Seco Recreation Ground led to both clubs being fined for failure to control their players. Nine players also received both fines and match bans for violent conduct.
None of the suspended players were in action yesterday, despite the stated intention of both teams to appeal the decision of the Pro League's Disciplinary Committee. And the only ones sent off were Petrotrin keeper Williams and  their Brazilian coach Marcos Tonocos, who was ejected from the bench by referee Neil Brizan.

Caledonia climbs to the top after 3-2 win over Joe Public

Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille are the new leaders of the 2009 Digicel Pro League following a superb 3-2 victory over Bmobile Joe Public on Tuesday night at the Marvin Lee Stadium.
Caledonia are at the top for the first time with 28 points thanks to goals by Kareem Joseph in the 9th minute, Charles Pollard in the 80th minute and substitute Kerry Daniel in the 85th minute.
The Jamaal Shabazz coached side is now two points clear of former leaders San Juan Jabloteh while Joe Public sit in third with 25 points despite a goal by leading man Kerry Baptiste in the 31st minute and an injury time item by Keyeno Thomas.
In other Round Two Match Day Three results Defence Force moved up into sixth with 17 points following a 2-0 win over FC SouthEnd in the first match of an Ato Boldon Stadium double header. Jerwyn Balthazar opened the scoring in the 24th minute and Devorn Jorsling made is 2-0 in the 30th minute for their victory.
In the second match at the Couva venue St Ann’s Rangers rebounded after conceding an early Hayden Jones goal in the 3rd minute to beat Police FC 2-1 thanks to strikes by Adrian Narine(13th minute) and Devon Modeste(30th minute) to jump two spots into eight with 11 points.
And Ma Pau SC maintained fourth with a boosted 23 points following their 2-0 win over Tobago United after goals by Trevin Caesar and Anthony Wolfe a minute apart in the 69th and 70th minutes respectively.
But in the highlight match on Tuesday it was end to end action from very early with Trinidad and Tobago head coach Russell Latapy teasing the fans at the Macoya venue with his brilliance.
Kareem Joseph opened the scoring in the 9th minute to Caledonia’s joy when he unleashed a shot out of nothing from distance and former Caledonia goalie Michael Woods between the Public uprights allowed the ball to slip through his hands and into the back of the net as Caledonia enjoyed an early 1-0 advantage.
Russell Latapy had a great opening in the 21st minute from above the six yard area off a cross from the left only to shoot directly at goalkeeper Woods and a couple minutes later Keon Daniel had a decent effort from distance that whisked wide of the Joe Public upright.
Joe Public never dropped their heads despite Caledonia’s charge and got the equalizing item in the 31st minute for a 1-1 score through their most prolific striker Kerry Baptiste—now with 19 goals in the League—who latched onto a spill by Dwayne Sandy who made a blockout on Akiel Guevara’s shot.
Kerry Baptiste had a chance to put his team ahead in the 40th minute after turning his way past Caledonia goalkeeper Sandy and two onrushing defenders but his curling effort on goal was cleared off the line Kester Jacobs.
Joe Public stepped up their intentions in the dying stages of the first half only to be denied on a couple occasions by Sandy. His best blockout came in the final minute of the half denying Micah Lewis who brilliantly weaved his way past three defenders to unleash a shot on goal.
Four minutes into the second period and Joe Public were at it again but goalkeeper Sandy was in their way measuring Akiel Guevara’s blast from distance with a brilliant blockout.
Russell Latapy was the most influential for Caledonia and opened up way for Keyon Edwards who flopped at a golden opportunity—one of his many on the night—hitting wide of the far upright.
Latapy himself had a shot on goal in the 58th minute however it lacked pace and direction. Latapy was replaced in the 71st minute by another pair of experienced legs in Kendall Velox.
Coach Jamaal Shabazz then replaced the ineffective Keon Edwards with Kerry Daniel twelve minutes from time in search of the winner.
And they got one minute later from a set piece in which captain and defender Charles Pollard headed past Woods after the Joe Public goalie hesitated to challenge the loose ball and allowed 2-1 score in Caledonia’s favour.
Substitute Kerry Daniel then added Caledonia’s third item for a 3-1 score in the 85th minute with a wonderful strike from distance sending the Marvin Lee Stadium into a carnival atmosphere.
Joe Public reduced the deficit 3-2 in the injury time through defender Keyeno Thomas who met Daniel Cyrus cross to beat Sandy however that was the best in their attempt for a comeback as time wasn’t in their favour.

Just came back from Joe Public's 3 - Nil win over Tobago United.
Tobago United started with 10 men as injuries continue to wreak havoc on an already short roster. One player had to receive stitches to a head wound and was ruled out. Another was at game time in a taxi from Roxborough.
So they started with 10 men and Joe Public had nothing over them. The game was even if not slightly in TU's favour. Then a JP player is sandwiched between two TU players and uses his hand to win the ball..ball down the right.....cross and Tinto pits the ball in with a lovely shot. TU were at full strength by this time and the game was More or less even. 2nd half was more of the same....but to be honest I missed the 2nd goal. Tinto was having a hard time with the right back for TU and was eventually substituted. The red man that came on was able to get around the same right back some how or another and scored the third. After this TU's players were spent and were now giving JP chances.....none that they could convert though including one or two from Kerry Baptiste.

League leaders Bmobile Joe Public failed to contain fifth positioned Defence Force on Tuesday afternoon at the Larry Gomes Stadium despite a hattrick by leading goalscorer Kerry Baptiste in their Round Two Match Day Five Digicel Pro League clash.
Devorn Jorsling and Kevon Carter both registered doubles to give Defence Force a 4-3 victory over the Eastern Lions however they failed to make upward on the standings remaining in fifth with 23 points.
Ma Pau SC are ahead of the soldiers with 24 points in fourth position after pulling off a startling 0-0 draw against United Petrotrin down at the Guaracara Park in which Aurtis Whitley failed to hit the target for the Oilmen from the penalty spot in the 74th minute.
Another surprising Round Two Match Day Five result was across in the sister isle when Tobago United edged Police FC 1-0 thanks to a first half strike by Ronny Aloema pushing the home side into ninth position with 10 points ahead of FC SouthEnd(10th) by goals difference. While the lawmen dropped at the bottom in eleventh with their 9 points.
Aloema a regular between the uprights for Tobago was used as an outfield player by coach Peter Granville and the Surinamese international gifted his side with an 18th minute header off Collie Hurcules’ cross for the golden item—Tobago United second victory of the 2009 League Championship.
In the feture clash Baptiste netted twice in the first half and once in the second from the penalty spot taking his Digicel Pro League tally to 23 goals in 15 matches pulling further away from his closest challenger Keyon Edwards of Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille(12 goals) but that wasn’t enough to help his team to victory over Army.
Joe Public remain at the top of the standings with 28 points and ahead of Caledonia by a slightly better goals difference. Caledonia with a match in hand.
Baptiste gave the Lions a superb start when he struck the opening item just three minutes into the match but Defence Force pulled the scores level in the 11th minute after defender Keyeno Thomas fouled Kevon Carter inside the area.
Devorn Jorlsing stepped up for the penalty and he comfortably sent goalkeeper Daurance Williams the wrong way levelling the scores 1-1.
But the advantage was back with Joe Public in the 24th minute when Baptiste tucked in his second beating Kevin Graham from inside the area after meeting a short pass by Akeil Guevara for a 2-1 score.
However Defence Force levelled the scores 2-2 in the 35th minute after Kevon Carter dispossessed right back Marvin Manswell played a pass to Jorsling, who returned the pass before Carter brilliantly chipped Daurance Williams from inside the area.
Baptiste had a great chance to take his team into the half with the advantage however Graham made a timely save to deny the Joe Public ace in the 40th minute on a one on one challenge.
In the second half Carter and Jorsling caused havoc in the Joe Public defence, both completing doubles to lead Defence Force in a come from behind 4-2 victory.
Two minutes after the break Carter made one of his powerful runs eluding Jason Springer and Hayden Tinto to play teammate Jorsling goal-bound and the 2008 Golden Boot winner converted past Daurance Williams for a 3-2 advantage.
Joe Public seemed to have lost it in the second period with Jorsling hitting the upright in the 55th minute and Carter unleashing an effort directly at Daurance in the 62nd minute.
Carter then added to Joe Public’s struggle in the 80th minute swinging a shot behind out of positioned Daurance Williams for a 4-2 cushion in favour of the Soldiers.
Defence Force goalie Kevin Graham showed good form in the second period tipping behind a Gorean Highley free kick in the 71st minute and a Carlyle Mitchell header in the 75th minute.
However he failed to do the same in added on time when Baptiste converted from the spot for a 4-3 finish after Michael Edwards and Ronald St Louis upended Conrod Smith inside their area.

That "goalkeeper" playing out and scoring goals for them since last season. He may be a striker and back-up GK ;D
Actually he is a goalkeeper and back up striker...... If they had another good striker they would have won more games. This game alone he had 2 or 3 good chances.

Teenager, Shahdon Winchester scored a pair of second-half goals as W Connection blanked FC South End 3-0 in the first match of a double-header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva yesterday.
Winchester, who earlier this year went on trials in Portugal scored his first on the hour mark and then added another in the 72nd minute while South End defender Larry Bacchus conceded a last minute own goal to secure all three points for the “Savonetta Boys”. With the win, W Connection climbed to 23 points from 14 matches, the same as fifth placed Defence Force who has played a match more.
For yesterday’s match, W Connection coach, Stuart Charles-Fevrier was without goalkeepers Marvin Phillip and Jan-Michael Williams, striker Hughton Hector and midfielder Clyde Leon due to national team duties for T&T ahead of today’s Concacaf World Cup qualifier against El Salvador at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo from 7.30 pm. In the night’s second match, two-time defending champions, who, like W Connection qualified for the Concacaf Champions League round-of-16 last week came up against St Ann’s Rangers.
Going into the match, Jabloteh was third on the table with 27 points from 13 matches, one point behind bmobile Joe Public and Caledonia AIA of Morvant/Laventille. However, the “Eastern Lions” has a superior goal-difference of plus-16 to Caledonia’s plus-15 while the latter also has a match in hand. Ma Pau is fourth on the table with 24 from 15 matches.

Former England based defender Dennis Lawrence had a perfect start for San Juan Jabloteh on Saturday night in his team's 2-0 win over rivals Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille.
Lester Peltier's first half double cushioned Jabloteh while former Swansea City and Crewe Alexandra defender Lawrence kept things tight at the back against Caledonia's numerous attacks.
Jabloteh victory pumped the two-time defending League champions from fourth into second position with 32 points after Round Two Match Day Eight.
Woodbrook based club Ma Pau SC are ahead of Jabloteh by one point at the top after jumping two spots from third following a 2-0 win over tenth positioned FC SouthEnd to be the new leaders.
St Vincent and the Grenadines international Shandell Samuel netted both goals in the second half (57th and 77th minutes) for the Michael McComie coached side.
Bmobile Joe Public, previously second and on a bye over the weekend dropped into third position with its 31 points while Caledonia slipped from top position to fourth with their 31 points following Saturday night's 2-0 defeat in the second match of a double header at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium.
In the earlier match Police FC crumbled in the second half to concede five goals against Defence Force in a 5-1 score.
Police had the opening item in the 48th minute through Kenwyn Matthews however 2008 Golden Boot winner Devorn Jorsling led the way for Army's comback with a hattrick, netting in the 56th, 62th and 85th minutes. Kevon Carter stuck in the third item in the 70th minute and Kerry Joseph wrapped it up in the 87th minute.
Aurtis Whitley was another hattrick goalscorer onSaturday leading seventh positioned United Petrotrin to a 4-1 win over eight positioned St Ann's Rangers at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
Whitley gave the Oilmen an early cushion netting in the 8th and 25th minutes before Rangers' Coneal Thomas pulled a goal back in the 27th minute for a 2-1 half time score. Whitley returned his team's two goals advantage in the 74th minute completing his hattrick and Brazilian Luis Lima made it 4-1 four minutes from time.
In the feature match where Caledonia AIA had a chance to pull away at the top, Lester Peltier's double got in their way.
Peltier netted in the 18th and 44th minutes giving the Earl Jean coached side a 2-0 cushion at the break.
That score didn't change despite end to end action in the second period.
Inside the second period Caledonia coach Jamaal Shabazz introduced midfielders Keon Daniel and Kerwyn Jemmot to add creativity.
Jabloteh was close to adding another when Marcano let off a decent effort just high and wide of the upright after turning with Ataulla Guerra's right side cross in the 56th minute.
Two minutes later Caledonia's Keyon Edwards headed attempt was scrambled wide and out for a corner by goalkeeper Cleon John off Kerry Daniel cross from the left.
In the 66th minute from a Caledonia freekick by Keon Daniel at a tight angle pulled out a brilliant blockout by Cleon John.
And three minutes later Daniel was just wide by a couple feet whipping a half volley past the Jabloteh net.
Jabloteh continued to survive Caledonia attacks with Karlon Murray and new-man Dennis Lawrence at the back and thanks to the Morvant Laventille squad failure to finish their chances.
Keyon Edwards later hooked an effort inches wide of Jabloteh's far post in the 79th minute as they struggled to find the back of the net after doing all the impressive work from midfield.
Jabloteh came close to closing off the match with another goal in the 90th minute when Ataulla Guerra muscled his way past the Caledonia defence after a neat string of passes between himself and Lester Peltier only to hook a falling shot inches high.

Caledonia squeeze 1-0 over Rangers, Joe Public back on top
Guyanese forward Randolph Jerome on debut for Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille scored the lone item in the team's 1-0 win over bottom of the table St Ann's Rangers.
Jerome turned Jameel Perry's chip over goalkeeper Fortunato Valcourt's sliding challenge into the back of the net 30 minutes into the match for what stood as the match winner.
However Jerome would surely be looking back to the beginning when he failed to make a magical start for Caledonia seconds into the match after wasting an effort inside the area under challenge by Elijah Belgrave after a brilliant throughball by Densill Theobald played him goalbound.
Caledonia moved up two spots into second with 34 points, and are behind leaders Bmobile Joe Public by goals difference.
Joe Public returned to the top on Tuesday afternoon thanks to a first half double by Kerry Baptiste which helped the Lions to a 2-1 win.
Baptiste now with 25 goals in 17 matches netted in the 9th and 41st minutes giving his side a 2-0 cushion into the break. Sayid Freitas pulled back a goal for Ma Pau SC in the 79th minute however coach Derek King's side held on for a 2-1 victory and revenge over their Round One defeat against the Michael McComie coached team.
Ma Pau dropped from top to third following its Round Two Match Day Nine defeat. They remain with 33 points, followed by CONCACAF Champions' League campaigners San Juan Jabloteh in fourth one point behind.
United Petrotrin jumped from seventh to fifth following a 3-0 win over Tobago United.
Gary Glasgow, Arnold Dwarika and Nigel Daniel were the goalscorers for the Oilmen against the visiting Tobago United. Tobago slipped one spot into tenth after FC SouthEnd got the better of bottom of the table Police FC 2-0.
Anthony Rougier's 30th minute item was joined by Nathan Holmer's 84th minute strike helping the southerners break their eight-match winless streak.
At the Ato Boldon Stadium, Caledonia AIA dominated play but wasn't as sharp as coach Jamaal Shabazz would have liked in front of goal.
Following Jerome's blunder seconds into the match, teammate Abdallah Phillips was denied by the far upright after meeting Keon Daniel's long cross from the half line in the 10th minute which left onrushing goalkeeper Fortunato Valcourt beaten off his line-however Phillips' right footed volley skinned the post.
Rangers had a couple of good runs as the match progressed but it was Caledonia who continued dominance with disappointing finishing.
Both Charles Pollard and Jameel Perry had attempts in the 26th minute however failed to test Valcourt.
Two minutes later and Perry crashed a half volley into Valcourt as Caledonia continued wasting chances.
Caledonia finally got the opening item in the 30th minute for a 1-0 advantage when Jameel Perry free on the left, picked up Keon Daniel's pass before looping a short cross over Valcourt and Randolph Jerome on debut had the comfort of tapping into an open net.
Caledonia maintained that 1-0 advantage at the break.
Rangers' suffered further at the restart failing to have goalkeeper Valcourt and influential defensive player Coneal Thomas--both nursing first half injuries.
Six minutes into the second period Jerome headed Walter Moore's cross wide of the Rangers' goal after the wingback made one of his blistering runs down the left to feed the telling cross.
Moore had a go at goal himself in the 57th minute hitting the side netting. And two minutes later second half substitute Kendall Velox chipped an attempt just over from inside the area.
Substitute goalkeeper Seegobin made a brilliant save in the 74th minute pushing Densill Theobald's low effort from above the area out for a corner as Caledonia searched for the cushioning item.
Rangers' only on-target effort came in the 73rd minute when midfielder Adrian Narine tried his luck from 25 yards out--however he directed at goalkeeper Dwayne Sandy who gathered comfortably.
Caledonia rightback Kareem Joseph pulled out a fingertip save from Seegobin in added on time and from the resulting corner substitute Nuru Muhammed's shot on goal was gathered by the Rangers' costodian.

They finally got a chance just before the half to break away and won a penalty. The kick was saved by the keeper who started a break and they almost scored right at the half time whistle. The 2nd half was much of the same. TU had two glorious chances to score and failed to find the back of the net. They were then denied a clear penalty only for one to be awarded to Cali for hand ball...a bit harsh but it had to be given. 1-nil Cali. In the last 15 mins or so TU all but fell apart and it was All Cali. But got poor finishing and some last ditch defending the score line could be more flattering.
Keon Daniel needs to come back to St. Clair's Coaching School to save his carear. This boy is fading fast. He needs a coach that can bring the best out of him. He has all the skills necessary but he needs someone to light a fire under his a$$......and quick.

The first choice keeper had been released due to poor attitude, and the keeper now(who was playing out and scored recently) is playing injured and the physio made frequent visits during the game. The rest of the playing staff you could see from their play that they are playing injured. Dwayne Jack has returned but the skipper (I think it is McKinnon) sat out the game. Their best player on the day was the No. 8 Edwardo, who unfortunately missed the penalty...hope it dosent affect his game.

Police FC is real shit this season.

At times TU played all around Police and at times it was the other way around. Police players have no decipline....men want to fight and ting. One cuff or gouge ot a man eye. The man retaliate ans both got red cards. The TU player had to be restrained and the OFFICER was heard telling him that he already got sent off so to hit him. Other Police OFFICERS were also joining in and it took a few mins to get things setteled...especially as both players had to walk down the same tunnel..... Police team was playing rough all evening, constantly kicking down TU players and I was surprised that only one Police player was sent off. Them men arguing whole game...pointing up at the refree an all......TOTALLY SHAMEFULL. In my opinion Police should be removed from the Pro League..... I was so vex I was up in the stands shouting asking them if they feel is a rain they gone on, and not a football game.
Police in TNT in real trouble and it is also showing in their football.

After all the fuss about playing matches prior to this evening’s World Cup match between T&T and the USA, two-time defending Digicel Pro League champion and league leaders, Clico San Juan Jabloteh and bmobile Joe Public played to a goalless (0–0) stalemate in the first match of a re-scheduled double header at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, last evening.
logoBoth teams were without key players with the Eastern Lions mainly affected as four of its regular starters—Keyeno Thomas, Trent Noel, Hayden Tinto and league leading scorer, Kerry Baptiste were missing, while Jabloteh had to do without its latest signing in national captain and defender Dennis Lawrence all on national duty. These players are expected to be part of the Warriors team to take on the USA in their Concacaf World Cup Qualifier at the Hasely Crawford Stadium from 7.11 pm tonight.
Jabloteh went into its final match looking for a win to take the regular season title, however, with the draw it’s not likely that the San Juan Kings will be able to claim the title, as the defending champions are on 39 points, just one ahead of Public on 38, which has a match to play. The Macoya based team could take top honours with a win over W Connection in another re-scheduled match set for Friday.

Which story is true? The Express said that in the game between Jabloteh and W Connection, Connection won 1 to 0. However, the Pro League website says that it was a draw.

Tobago women team won the WoLF Cup, I am hoping 1976 Phoenix do it for the men in the Toyota Classic because I cant remember when last a team from Bago win anything, from the SSFL to pro league.
