Jabloteh off to Panama
By Randy Bando (ttproleague.com)

League leaders San Juan are off to Panama to face San Francisco FC in their First Round clash of the CONCACAF Champions’ League preliminary round on Wednesday night at the Estadio Agustín Muquita Sánchez 7pm(Panama Time).

Jabloteh left Trinidad on Tuesday afternoon headed by coach Earl Jean and are expected to arrive in Panama at 7:23pm(Panama Time).

Jean selected an 18-man squad inclusive of 2009 signings Kevaughn Connell, Hector Sam and assistant coach/player Travis Mulraine to face the Panamanian giants San Francisco.

The rest of Jean’s squad includes players such as 2007 and 2008 League winners Cleon John, Karlon Murray, Ataulla Guerra, Elton John, Jason Marcano, Devon Jamerson, Elijah Manners, Joel Russell and Lester Peltier.

2008 signings Anton Hutchinson, Noel Williams, Cyrano Glen, Marvin Oliver who will captain the side and goalkeeping coach/goalkeeper Brian James makes up the rest of the squad.

“In this game we will be very focused,” said Earl Jean. “We are in a positive mood right now coming off wins in our last two games. We know very little about their team. But we know that they have a good national structure and having played their internationally for St Lucia I know it will be a hostile environment. We know that it will not be any easy task coming up against top clubs from other countries. But we will try and come out for a positive result ahead of our next game.”

“I’m more concerned about my team and not too much about San Francisco,” said team captain Oliver. “We have been a little up and down in the last two weeks so the focus will be getting the guys in the right frame of mind for these (CONCACAF Champions’ League) matches.”

Oliver eyeing a good showing just as Joe Public did in the previous CONCACAF Champions’ League preliminary round ousting MLS club New England Revolution after a 6:1 aggregate score said that his team is equipped with the best young latent available in Trinidad and Tobago.

San Francisco currently third on the Liga Panameña de Fútbol—Panama’s top football league—have won 6 Liga Panameña de Fútbol championships, the second highest total of any team since 1988. The club has also finished second 4 times since 1988.

Francisco are with 33 points in the Liga Panameña de Fútbol same amount as Atlético Chiriquí(in second) and three points off leaders Tauro F.C.

Meantime Jabloteh left Trinidad as the Digicel Pro League leaders with 26 points, one point more than Bmobile Joe Public and Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille who will face eachother from 7pm at the Marvin Lee Stadium on Tuesday(today)—one of which will overtake Jabloteh for top spot.

Jabloteh will stay at the Hoteles Riande Continental, La Chorrea and will have a training session at the Estadio Agustín Muquita Sánchez on Wednesday morning prior to the match.

Jabloteh will return to Trinidad at midday T&T time on Thursday in preparation for the return match against the Panamanians on Thursday 6 August from 8pm at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium.

Don't we have to be preparing properly for a crucial game against El Salvador on 12th August?

Like the money the TTFF get for preparation games gone or what?!

If so what was it spent on?!  ???

Yuh really sure bout that? So what discussion forum are we on again?!

Right now everything just reminds me of what we Senior team should be doing but ent doing!

Sorry if my focus right now with less than 2 weeks to go to El Salvador, is mainly on the senior team and everything else just acts as a reminder of what we need to be doing to prepare for the game!

watching it on espnc here in trinidad

game is competive, Jabloteh settled since conceeding and looks a little better of the two sides

both sides showing decent touches but lacking in the final third, Jabloteh need a forward who could attack some crosses

they just flashed the lineups so not sure about sam but being one of the more recognisable players on the field I could say Oliver is disappointing so far, not really involved

Peltier looking good and Primas doing well since giving up the penalty

End of the Half, Jabloteh the better attacking side but San Francisco could easily counter and score another one, the defense looks shaky and indecisive when put under pressure. Oliver picked it up the second part of the half but what Jabloteh needs is an attacking mid to drive them forward. Peltier best player on the pitch, showing strength, speed and touches but still needs to learn how to set up his own shot. Kevaughn looking good on the left side on midfield also.

Jabloteh gave up another to go down 2-0
Title: Re: Jabloteh off to Panama

full time San Francisco 2 - Jabloteh 0

Ok effort but in the end the better organised team won, second half Jabloteh had nothing going forward

Both teams taking long to settle,Jabloteh playing paipsy and falling down and the panamanians tunning them up.

Break away by the Pnamanians and shot into the side netting

15 min 0-0

Jab in control Guerra, Murray and Oliver knocking in the middle...Elton John pulling stones big time.

The tactic is a long ball over the top for Hector Sam.

Oh no Hector Sam throws away an open goal in the 6 with the keeper on the ground

I not surprised. Connection result was more surprising. I real happy for both teams. Not bad at all.

Well done Jab...but alyuh need to kill off the game.

It woulda be weeping and wailing if that Pana had score in the 89th.

Panic start to set in.

Best of luck in the next round

WHERE WE AUTOMATIC SPOTS FOR CARIBBEAN NOW

Congrats to all T&T. As stated before, is time to get some direct spots. At least 2 direct spot and 2 more on preliminary round. ;)

I honestly think that they design the competition this way to weed out the financially weak Caribbean teams. Remember we in the CFU has 33 members.  If they were to have an open competition like how they do in Europe, it may not worth it on the financial side. Imagine Pumas from Mex has to travel to the Caribbean to play a team from Dominica. The mex. side may win 21 zip on aggregate, but may lose financially.

But this will benefit the stronger(financially) Caribbean teams. Both Jab. and Connection went thru the baptism of fire and they survived. They should be ready for the group stage.

Watching these highlights of W Connection and Jabloteh, wouldn't have been nice if Toussaint and Marvin Oliver had been groomed to fill the creative mid-field gap left by Latas. These guys potential were wasted.
