Fatima 4 CIC 3 today... poor defending from CIC for the 1st and 4th Fatima goals

3 transfers didnt get clearance in time and Chad Appoo will return(real gifted CAM..should be on the national U20 in my opinion..size wise he not as big).. CIC have a good squad this year..Fatima are decent too... GK very good and then Ross Russel jr and a number 10 up front "Tinto" is his name are dangerous too.. Some number 13 came on to play on the right and he is supposedly their star..a fella name WORM..no lie..allyuh Fatima men couldnt give de man a better nickname than that!

CIC 1 QRC 0

 ;D

Latas was there... he was impressed with Chad Appoo(CIC number 12) but Chad got a calf injury and came off in the 60th

Chad is my real boy and he could real play... should be on the U20 team and went trials before and Vranes was very impressed but he has a size problem and maybe that affected a call up... he will get bigger and taller but he is very talented.. a CAM with real vision ... Going away next year on a schol

Since Preysal get throw out, does that mean that they will be automatically relegated? If so, would they be going down by themselves, or would they be accompanied by the last placed team?

I am pretty sure Roxborough at this moment has one of the best U16 midfielders this country has seen in a while but as usual, in tobago they head does swell fast and they does get spoil. lets hope some of this can be reversed.

St Anthony's College narrowed their deficit behind BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) North Zone leaders Fatima College to three points by mauling Woodbrook Secondary 8-0 yesterday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium training pitch.

Striker Cordel Cato registered a hat-trick to help his team to an easy win, while five other players chipped in to beef up the scoreline in the later stages of the match.

St Anthony's (nine points) are now second to Fatima (12 points), ahead of Queen's Royal College (nine) on goal difference after the Royalians only beat Trinity College 2-0 at Moka. St Mary's College are fourth after drawing 2-2 with defending North Zone champs East Mucurapo Secondary.

Probably still smarting from the 2-1 home loss to St Mary's on Saturday, the "Westmoorings Tigers" started the match in attack mode, looking to get the early advantage on a soggy field. And Woodbrook proved hapless opponents.

The Championship Division newcomers were only allowed one fair chance of getting on the scoresheet in the first period, a shot down the centre of the goal that was held comfortably by St Anthony's goalkeeper Jamal Francois.

For St Anthony's, Luke Hernandez and Mikhail Walters--called "Nani" after the Manchester United winger no doubt-- both had early attempts on goal go awry, and Cato missed early as well. Cato, however, got it right in the 15th, running onto a pass in the penalty area, and slotting it through the legs of Woodbrook goalie Isaiah Cummings.

Six minutes later, Walters doubled the advantage with a first-time volley on Shaquille Rogers' cross. And in the 40th minute, Reshard Allen's long distance blast from out of nowhere caught Cummings unawares, giving the away team a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break.

Three minutes after play restarted, Woodbrook tried to spark a revival, but Linton Akel found keeper Francois. The Tigers, however, had already smelled blood, and it took them just until the 51st minute to wound Woodbrook once more. Cato it was who rushed in to meet another cross from Rogers, and buried it in the net.

He would earn his third goal in the 65th before being substituted, finding the far post from close range. But for glaring misses, he could have had a few more strikes.

The rout resumed in the 85th, when substitute Ajani Clarence was pulled down in the area and St Anthony's captain Dwight Ceballo stepped up to score. Midfielder Naseef Karimullah slammed home a stunner from beyond the penalty area in the 88th, while Andel Francois, another sub, capped off a bad evening for Woodbrook with a simple finish to Rogers' cross.

To add insult to injury, Woodbrook substitute Abraham Aguilleira was sent off in stoppage time for a crunching tackle on Rogers, the final whistle perhaps bringing relief from an unhappy hunting ground for Woodbrook.

Over in Tobago, Scarborough Secondary's fixture with Mason Hall was put off because of a waterlogged Bon Accord field, while Signal Hill Secondary defaulted to Roxborough Secondary because of inadequate security arrangements.

Hmm...once St. Anthony's beat Fatima in the next round of SSFL games, North Zone will be looking tight with the big colleges all very tight at the top.

Malick and Mucurapo really get weakened with the re-structuring of the school system.

CIC 1 QRC 0

Good thing Messi, Ribery, Iniesta, Arshavin, Nasri, Xavi, Latas never had Vranes as a coach  ::)

Man call real name dey boy... Motty Haynes, know how long me eh hear dat man name.  Yuh remember Neil DeSilva... he mighta been a couple years before Motty and dem.  He was another fella from Valencia... was on de 92 or 96 4x400 Olympic team.
Of course, I knew Neil personally....  Neil actually played the year before I went to Arima but he was blazing fast.  In my opinion, Motty Haynes was the greatest scorer of all time in colleges league....Un"freaking"believeable....the man score 44 goals in one year....Bake yuh hear that 44....I eh think nobody come close again but I could be wrong....

Doh worry ah just sort yuh out....Did you play with Pony, the great Nigel Davidson at Signal Hill?
Title: Re: SSFL Results
Post by: Lifeisgood on October 02, 2009, 08:40:44 AM
Davidson joined that squad right before the team went to Portugal.  When they brought in the big guns (Yorke, Sherwood) to make up the Portugal team.

I was one of the last men dropped from the team (that was part of the Portugal nucleus) that was selected to play in the CFU U16 tournament - I was "competing" with Nixon for that left outside mid/forward position ...and could not defend well enough to play left back...so I saw the axe.  The experience was good though.  I remember sweating in that room in camp, as they announced the players selected - Wesley Webb was the last one to make it ...me and two other players - not so lucky.

I say "competing" - because you would remember that back in those days...Jerren was an absolute beast!!...

I never like how they used to do that... in my time they just used to gather everybody in a group and when they call yuh name yuh go over to de next side.... talk bout sweating, all meh belly jumping and ah feeling like ah have to squeeze out ah sh!t... especially when your name calling down to the end and you watching all your partners on de next side...

but I ent go lie, i make some cut where i don't know how my name call... I guess the coaches did see something... but when i finally get de axe, i did really feel shame. I find they could give yuh a discreet phone call and say doh bother to show up instead.

I cyah speak fuh other periods... but for me personally that period of 85-92 was the golden age of Intercol/Big Seven ball fuh me.  I remember that Sando Tech team well... dem and John D. Was soon after that they change de rules to make them 'technical' schools ineligible.

Bakes -- yuh hav to be careful when you mention dat era over another era...because yuh might start a war!

Coming from that time myself..I jes remember when thousands used to go to a "high school" game ...more people used to go to college games than they do for the national team now!!

I surprised a certain friend of yours in chime een and start talking about Malick..blah blah blah...maybe if I mention that CIC was everybody fadda in the North, before Malick rise with Shawn David and Dwarika...maybe that will draw a certain person out??!!  or St. Anthony's with Miguel Mitchell and Evans Wise...that side was rell tempo..remember when Mitchell make Ian Briggs kneel down in the stadium with a drag!!!!

ole talk aside... real players came out of that era. Alot of good teams.

I have a question that is not entirely related to results in the SSFL.

After seeing our U20 team perform in the U20 World Cup recently I came away with the conclusion that technically that team, the U17 team, and the men's senior team are inept and inferior to the rest of the universe. Allright, that is my anger speaking there, but they are all inept and inferior technically and when you are not confident in your technical abilities your composure on the ball suffers drastically. The proof is in the results of all the competitions we take part in.

So my question is "what are these kids really learning in this football league?"

If you put anyone of these Secondary School teams up against a technically sound high school team in the US SSFL cut ass is booked. No doubt.

Maybe, we should have a competition in the Caribbean pitting the two best high school teams in the region against one another in a knockout competition to find out who is the best. That way we get an opportunity to find out how good these coaches really are and how and what their students are learning the fundamentals of the game in a competitive situation. In my opinion, you can't develop your game if you are playing amongst yourself or playing against players who don't challenge you physically, technically, tactically and mentally.

I doh know how long this been going on, but I notice some teams sporting sponsorship on their uniforms (doh know but I might be showing how long I ain seen ah SSFL game). Just came back from Trini.

My cousin gave me a Mucurapo shirt with his company's logo on it. He said he signed a 3-year contract to sponsor the team (he went Mucurapo). I think that's good for the schools and the league.

We (CIC) had ZOOM sponsoring us in the early-mid 90s.

Den again, maybe they were just advertising their logo on the shirts since they produced them  :D

Schedule looking real soft but don't count yuh chickens before they hatch, playing 2 teams desperate to avoid relegation can be difficult.  However, cic in the driver's seat to take the league title.

Yuh mean North Zone title, The Green Machine in the driver seat for league title.

Team                             Played W  D  L Goals Diff. Points
St. Augustine Secondary        10   8  1  1  29:8  18  25
Queen's Royal College            10   6  1  3  14:6  8   19

u can't compare points from 2 different zones to determine who is the favorite, the east zone could be much weaker than the north zone hence green machine have more points...by the way i meant north zone title.

S Mag  be careful.

In 87 Fatima beat CIC in both league games and in north intercol and only needed a draw against CIC in the last game to win the big seven crown. Guess what happened? CIC beat them 5 or 6 nil to prevent Fatima from winning the big seven, so don't plan de parade yet. But I hope CIC wins.

Also the national league title is determined by the winner of the big 5 tournament. It would be wrong to say any of the zone leaders in the drivers seat for the league title before the big 5 is even played.

3 league winners get a bye to the big 5 semis, the other 2 play a "quarterfirnal" and after that is a knockout.

It doh matter if the CIC guys on this board start to celebrate early once the team doesn't. I'm guardedly optimistic that the guys will hold their nerve. Anyone knows when last CIC won an North Zone title? I remember when we won the Big 8 title we placed second.

i am embarrased to say i went dese schools sometimes. not a win dese teams cuda pull orf? *sigh*

but den again dey tryin to focus on d students' academics in both schools d last few years

ah know when Shortpants was principal of trinity he stop takin een footballers in form 6 cuz they always had a reputation of not doin schoolwork. he  use to more take een d 'studious boys' who never kick a lime, since he was more focused on gettin scholarships  :-\. dat eh look like it workin out eeder!  :-X

Saints, Green Machine tangle in Malabar
Gregory Trujillo
Published: 21 Oct 2009

St Mary’s and St Augustine will now be playing their Big Five semifinal of the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League today at Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, and not at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo where it was previously scheduled. Kick-off is 4.15 pm.

The shift in venue came as a result of the preparation to the Hasely Crawford Stadium ground for the Concacaf Champion of Champions match between Blink San Juan Jabloteh and CD Marathon of Honduras tomorrow. St Augustine will favour the change in venue more than the Saints since it has played several of its matches there on it way to winning the East Zone title. “I feel the ground will give us a slight advantage, because we have played there several times during the season,” said ‘Gustine’ assistant coach Trevor Elcock. “We feel comfortable on any ground we play on.” Elcock added, “I have real confidence in our squad. The players are dedicated to the job. They train hard and I have a bunch of disciplined players. They are like one family and enjoy what they are doing. Football is on the day and who needs it more.”

Coach of St Mary’s, Jason Edwards believes that he has enough knowledge of the strength and weaknesses of the St Augustine team, which defeated his side 2–0 in a pre-season warm-up match earlier in the year. “We played again them in a pre-season game and had some people look at them,” Edwards pointed out. “I really wasn’t looking at the score. I was trying to develop some of the younger players. “I have also reviewed several games that they played and I am very much aware who their danger men are and the threat that they pose. The Saints line-up will include Renaldo Garcia, who is returning from injury after playing only five matches

“It’s real good to have Garcia back because he provides that extra bit of quality in attack for our team. He’s fast and skilful. While he’s not 100 per cent fit, we know that he will make a valuable contribution at some point of the game. “I think we are very confident. We can represent the zone in the best way we can and we believe we are one of the most consistent teams in the league and we are going to try our best to bring the title back to the North Zone. With regards to the new venue, Edwards said: “The shift in venue has taken away our home advantage. While I’m not happy about it, we’re not going to make any excuses, we’re going to play regardless of the venue.” Meanwhile, dethroned Tobago Zone champion Signal Hill completed its league schedule on 14 points with a convincing 5–0 win over Roxborough in a rescheduled match on Friday in Plymouth. Anderson Taylor and Shondelle Morris spearheaded the Signal Hill attack with a double each. The other goal was scored by Michael Charles.

GOODWOOD 1 (Murian Mohammed) vs SCARBOROUGH 6 (Mark Agard 3, Tariq Williams 2, Shannon Sandy)

Outplayed...they have some dangerous players

and they old too... Most of the team 18 and 19...  CIC team is very young..16 and 17 year olds..about three 18 year olds in the CIC squad

but it's a good learning experience for the young saints... that ref was real unfair to CIC... Everygame is some badmind ting... the coaching staff from CIC are a bit excessive and the refs since Jason Edwards became coach never give us calls... no lie... Anyone that has seen CIC in the last 3 seasons would admit that we are always treated unfairly by the officials

St Augustine book place in final: St Augustine 2 - 0 St Mary's

St Augustine Secondary go through to the Big Five Final after defeating St Mary's by 2-0 at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

'Gustine' will play the winner of Presentation vs Carapichaima being played on Friday at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium.

Goals by Ishmael Clement and Vernel Ramirez were enough to see the East Zone champions through to the finals, but it was really Theon James who deserved the man-of-the-match award as he had an instrumental role in both goals and created problems for the CIC backline for the entire match.

St Augustine were the stronger team over the 90 minutes, with CIC pressed back into their half for long periods of the match. 'Gustine' looked most threatening when the pace of winger Theon James got him behind the CIC defense on a couple of occasions.

'The Saints' did get forward at times but were restricted to speculative long ranged efforts  and failed to truly threaten the St Augustine goal.

St. Augustine had two real scoring chance in an otherwise tight first half.

In the 18th minute CIC goalkeeper Raheem Belgrave did well to push wide a long range drive from Zavion Navarro.

The 40th minute saw 'Gustine' coming even closer to scoring but CIC skipper Kyle Beggs did well to head over a goal bound shot.

Despite St Augustine's more attacking play, the first half ended up 0-0.

'Gustine'  would not have to wait long after the resumption of play as they were on the score sheet within two minutes.

St Augustine Coach Michael Grayson had started Theon James on the right wing, but in an astute tactical move decided to switch the nippy winger to the left after the break. The switch seemed to make all the difference as James got behind the defense and swung a dangerous ball into the six yard box. A goal mouth scramble ensued and Ishmael Clement pounced on the loose ball. Although his first attempt rebounded off of Belgrave, he made no mistake with his second attempt and slapped the ball past Belgrave and his defenders.

St Augustine had a chance to go 2 goals ahead when Jevaughn Vance won a penalty in the 67th minute after he was needlessly brought down by CIC keeper Belgrave.

Belgrave made amends for his mistake as he expertly saved the spot kick from Isaiah Mejias by diving low to his right.

'Gustine' continued to press for the insurance goal, and they got it in the 85th minute when Theon James again got down the left hand side and swung in yet another dangerous cross.

Ramirez got to the floated ball just before Belgrave and the ball hit his back and then trickled into the net to put the game out of reach of the North Zone champions.

The second goal meant that CIC had to throw caution to the wind, and they could have gone down by a couple more goals but Vance was denied late in the game by Belgrave on two occasions, and Ramirez struck the post as well deep in stoppage time.

St. Augustine now await the winner of Carapichaima and Presentation College San Fernando who play at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium on Friday.

Wazza,
If them men was 20 they are not supposed to play. Deleon and them was overage and they took away their championship in the 60's. TIf that is the case, they should check their bith paper.

fellas rel emotional in here boy jeez. jus a term of endearment since i know d man from since he a zygote. left up to heself he'd be in that 'chupidness'. former qrc man by d way and he's julius james cousin..

Nothing emotional about what was said.

The term you used is not one of endearment but rather one of denigration. Saying it a different way does not make it better.

De man give yuh a good piece of advice youth man.  Enough men and women sacrifice their life and lifetime to move past that. Don't trivialize it now by using it as a "term of endearment". With all due respect to you, you might feel is no big thing and you refuse to be bogged down with events of the past - which is a good thing.  But you can also use the past to enlighten you to a better future.  Yuh doh have to buy in to every piece of slang yuh hear from the outside.  Much respect.

good post..

just the other day ah had to loud up a real close friend over IM for coming at me with this "n*gga please" talk under kicks, then trying to justify it by saying that is ah regular slang in the states.. had to nip that in the bud and let her know never to use that term when addressing me.. kicks or no kicks..

poor chinee girl get ah full awkward moment vibes.. but at least is ah cool scene now.

2-nil.... GREAT!!!

Good luck to the Pres football team on Tuesday against St Augustine.  It's about time that football glory again stood in it's rightful place on top the San Fernando Hill facing the Gulf of Paria. Go make it happen, youths. :-)

Teen kills student after match .. Trinidad Express

Saturday, October 24th 2009

A student was stabbed to death near the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella yesterday, following a BGT&T Secondary Schools Football League match.

Police said around 7.45 p.m., 15-year-old Damien Duncan was stabbed several times during a fight with a student from another school.

The match was a Big Five semi-final between Presentation College (San Fernando) and Carapichaima High School, which was won by Pres 2-0.

On a happier note

Lets go Green Machine ..
