GMF remember some penalty kick specialists

Dwight Yorke
A cheeky penalty taker who would revel in making the goalkeeper look foolish with impish chips and disguise make him a must in our top ten.

Matt Le Tissier
You name a part of the net you want Le Tissier to put it and he invariably did. Ice cool at all times and a fantastic technique.

Julian Dicks
The former West Hamm, Liverpool and Birmingham defender relied on brute force but boy could he strike a football. No nonsense and no mistake.

Alan Shearer
Liked to strike his penalties high and handsome into the top corners and had the ability to do so.

Gary Lineker
Lineker has to get a mention for his double strike against Cameroon in the 1990 World Cup. A prolific goalscorer who also took a mean penalty, he scored a brace of very differently executed penalties to help England overturn a 2-1 deficit against Cameroon in the World Cup quarter final.

Frank Lampard
Despite a recent blip, Lampard’s record stands the test of time. He varies his style but they all have power and are usually expertly placed.

Phil Neal
The undisputed penalty king of the Kop. A full back by trade but you wouldn’t have known it when a penalty was awarded as he calmly side footed home a procession of penalties – including one in a European Cup final, as Liverpool took on all comers.

Ray Stewart
Another full back with a penchant for scoring spot kicks in the seventies was Stewart. The West Ham man was deadly from 12 yards and forged a fearsome reputation

Jan Molby
The Dane was arguably the most skilful player in the top flight during the eighties and early nineties and quickly proved he was the master from 12 yards out. He had the ability to put the ball almost anywhere he wanted and always left goalkeepers second guessing where he would put it. They invariably guessed wrong!

Cristiano Ronaldo
The most skilful player ever to grace the Premier League was a demon penalty taker and free kick taker. It is impossible to have a top ten of any dead ball situation that doesn’t include Ronaldo.

Now thinking bout it i cah ever remember seeing Yorkie miss a penalty.

One that comes to mind is versus Mexico in the 2000 Gold Cup. Yorke scores the penalty, but the ref orders it to be retaken. Yorke steps up again, but this time he hits the crossbar. We lorse 4-0.

Wasn't it against Canada, where Yorke get vex after he had to re-take? First one was a wicked chip, second one was crossbar
