I just want to say this will be a very tough game for T&T if Barbados bring all of their eligible players from around the world.
Because we haven't played together in a while, almost ANY team will give us a tough time. International football is about ALWAYS bringing your best. I hope NO ONE is taking these teams lightly. We can't afford to.
I can only hope that as the nation evolves, we (as a people/culture) learn to take things a lot more seriously. One of the things I admire about the Americans is that they tend to work hard and play/party hard. But T&T seems to master the latter.
But we have been fortunate.

If we make it through these games, then IMO, the countries to worry about at the next levels are Mexico, Costa Rica and the USA.
Of the Central American countries, we need to be concerned about Panama and Costa Rica. I don't think we have that much to fear from Honduras; they are heavily over-rated at the moment. I've seen the Hondurans play their last few games and I can tell you that we need to be more afraid of Jamaica than Honduras. The Hondurans are playing terrible football right now.
So, it's time for T&T to right the ship, setup some training camps and play plenty of international friendlies. We have the right coach, we just need to help him out!

Barbados was certain to play all their overseas players but they still get a cutarse from Guyana,I cant see us losing to anybody in our group after our first practice match against a potential banana skin Bermuda.They actually ended up only bringing 3 players from England, 1 from League Two, 1 from the Conference, and 1 from somewhere around Tier 10. They all played though. They have Emmerson Boyce (Wigan), Paul Ifill (Wellington Phoenix, former Millwall), and Jonathan Forte (Southampton) who have played for them before but I guess the BFA lost Boyce and Ifill's passports so they couldn't (this also happened with all three of these players last October during the Caribbean Cup). They have a couple of other guys who play professionally as well as a bunch of guys who could play for them if they wanted, including Fitz Hall (QPR) who they called up but I guess never showed.

the first leg game between Barbados versus Trinidad & Tobago will be played on the 6th of September at the National Stadium, Waterford, St. Michael for 4 pm
Tickets will be sold at sports and games from today. The prices are $5 school children, $15 A, B, C & D stands and $20 VIP (Louis Lynch Stand). On the match day tickets will be sold at the Netball Stadium opposite the National Stadium.
I on the 6am CAL flight over, just need to get my match ticket now and I'll be inside.

Just heard on Bajan news the match will be at 4 PMThanks for that info you gave on the Bim players that were supposed to play and as much as i respect the overseas players I dont think there will be nuff time for them to trouble TT,as you saw with TT,it takes time to gel and we have a higher calibre of players.In recent times Bajan football has been in the doldrums so to speak,surely that mottley selection cant trouble us.Guyana ress 2 pon dem so I am going for a 4-0 beat dung of Bim.I think that by the time we are through this group our team would be about 90% sorted,the jigsaw should be fixed by then.

I hope you realise that the jigsaw is how to get Camps to resign as president of the TTFF and to put someone else who is accountable, knows what they are doing and cares about T&T football in charge!

on friday they came for a draw, that's why they didn't attack with ferocity, instead they wanted to keep ah clean sheet by shutting us out, so they flooded the midfield in order to maintain possession, most under dogs do that to win the possession battle, and in turn it makes the big team seem less than ordinary.
have patients, the man didn't have any warm up games and now he has to learn his players through trial and error. and what the hell you're mad about, we won didn't we? and we kept ah clean sheet in the process, with ah bunch of players playing out of position and ah weak defense. be happy nah, we will work it out eventually. :beermug:

Pfister is in an extremely difficult situation. He had no friendly matches in which to see the foreign-based players as the only match provided by the TTFF - against India - fell on a "non-FIFA" date. He is therefore required to establish his opinion on these players, how to use them, and to win official WCQ matches at one and the same time. Correctly, like all of us, he is satisfied that we won three points against Bermuda but, like all of us, could hardly be happy with the performance of the team as a whole, and specific players, in particular. I am sure we will not see Warner again, but Pfister HAD to use him - despite his admiration for Marvin Phillip - in order to SEE him in a MATCH situation, as opposed to training. and this is only one such conclusion. So the primary and secondary objective of the match were definitely achieved - 1) to win, and 2) to have a first-hand look at players he had never seen live before.

As an example, Latapy, our finest talent was left on the bench by Beenhakker for much of the Germany campaign. Hopefully, the campaign will be long and Hector will have more opportunity to get into Pfister's plans.

Teams like Bermuda got 6 and 7 goals from us in the recent past just based on the likes of outstanding players we had in the 70s 80s and even 90s! What has our football come too! With all these pros and this is the score? And people making excuses for Otto! I don't think he can make much of a Difference and it is too costly for this low level of opponents! Look where we football reach! Maybe we should start investing in our younger players and start preparing for 2018!

New coach new set of players and a new campaign
No internationals to incoperate our players applying their trade overseas,truth be told we were all expecting a little more from Our Warriors,in terms of a wider margin of victory,which did not come to pass but we won and kept a clean sheet.Like true Warriors they preserved a one nil victory

The issue may not lie in CTV hands but Barbados hands. ???I think this is right, T&T aren't going to send a crew to televise the match. If it is on in Barbados (or even recorded for later transmission) it is very simple for T&T to show it. If its not, there's nothing the T&T TV stations can do.

And touches may have been kicksin but the fans need to just take matters into their own hands. Lehwe negotiate our own broadcast rights.
A socawarriors.net ppv feed, I'd def put money into that to help cover cameras, equipment and the like. I'm sure there is a high enough demand for sw.net to do it.

This time it is on the biggest football stage with a key World Cup CONCACAF Zone Group B qualifying match between arch-rivals Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago at the National Stadium this afternoon.
Kick-off time is 4 p.m., and the Bajan Tridents, smarting from a 2-0 away defeat to Guyana in their first-leg tie last Friday night, will need plenty of spectator support to gain their first victory over the Soca Warriors in 14 years.
With the early start, fans, who have been urged to don their national colours, will be rushing from work to get to the Stadium.
Tickets will be available at Sports & Games at the corner of James and Roebuck Street in Bridgetown and the Netball Stadium, as under FIFA rules no tickets can be sold at the match venue on match day.
Back in 1997, Barbados defeated the Trinidadians 1-0 at the Shell/Umbro Cup with Jerry Alexander scoring.
It was the first win for Barbados over Trinidad since 1995, but later that year, Trinidad earned a 1-1 draw at Dover in a friendly.
The Bajan Tridents also earned a 1-1 draw with the Soca Warriors in 2007 Digicel final round in theWarriors’ backyard at the Haseley Crawford Stadium after Neil Harvey’s second-half equaliser cancelled out Gary Glasgow’s first-half goal.
In the 2008 Digicel Football Final, Trinidad were 2-1 victors.
Trinidad and Tobago will be looking to make it two wins on a trot after their narrow 1-0 victory over a plucky Bermuda side.
That result should give Barbados some confidence as it appears the aura of invincibility Trinidadians once had on Caribbean teams in the late 1980s and 1990s with their Strike Squad has gradually been eroded.

Trinidad and Tobago's footballers will attempt to overcome the less than perfect conditions at the National Stadium in Bridgetown and collect the three points up for grabs when they face Barbados in their second 2014 World Cup qualifier from 4 p.m. today.
After arriving on Sunday, captain Kenwyne Jones and his teammates yesterday had their first feel of the playing surface, which left a lot to be desired.
The field was heavily grassed but very bumpy and uneven, with sinks in some parts. In general, the stadium is similar to Skinner Park, San Fernando, with bleachers in place, and the venue holds no more than 4,000 seating.
"It's not the best of surfaces and it may not be conducive for good football, but we are here to do a job which is to win a match and take home three points," T&T assistant coach Anton Corneal told Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) media officer Shaun Fuentes after the session.
Additionally, it's normal protocol for the visiting team to be provided with at least five match balls by the host association for practice, but the Barbados FA passed over only one ball to the T&T team (A host association has the privilege of selecting its own match ball once it is FIFA approved).
But Trinidad and Tobago always travel with their own footballs for training and it was no different on this occasion.
All 20 T&T players came through the session without any injuries and head coach Otto Pfister will have his full quota available for selection. So far the conditions have been humid throughout since the team's arrival.
"Okay, we are here to play a World Cup qualifier and you have to be prepared for anything," Pfister told Fuentes. "We have our players here who are ready to play the game and we will approach the game like all others, which is to finish the job."
Assistant coach Hutson Charles was sent to Georgetown to see Barbados's 2-0 loss to Guyana last Friday and has provided Pfister with a report.
In a previous World Cup qualifier between the two countries in Bridgetown, T&T came away 2-1 winners, in May 1992.
Hutson Charles was on the field that day, scoring the winner in the 65th minute, with Russell Latapy scoring the other in the 18th. Other members of T&T's squad were: Dwight Yorke, Leonson Lewis, Clint Marcelle, Michael Maurice, Dexter Francis, Clayton Morris, Philbert Jones, Kerry Jamerson, Dexter Lee, Kelvin Jones and Alvin Boisson.
Trinidad and Tobago won the return leg 3-0 at the Queen's Park Oval, with Marvin Faustin, Jamerson and Lewis being the scorers.
In the most recent clash, at the National Stadium in Bridgetown, T&T came away 3-2 winners in a Gold Cup qualifier in February 2005, when Angus Eve scored a 74th minute winner. Densill Theobald is the only current squad member who played back then.
T&T's US-based midfielder Keon Daniel is expecting a rough encounter with the Bajans.
"A team like Barbados will do whatever they can to make life hard for us, especially in a World Cup qualifier. They know that on paper that we are supposed to be better than them, but it all goes down to what happens in that 90 minutes. But, mentally, we should be prepared for this and, whatever the conditions, we have to put things together and get the three points.
"I don't expect the match to be easy by any means but, as a professional, you prepare for things like this and we have to deal with it," Daniel said.
T&T fans can listen to the match on i95.5fm but the game will not be shown live on television as the Barbados FA has indicated that the arrangements for the production and uploading to the satellite, which is the responsibility of the host country, is simply not in place, which meant it was not possible for a Trinidad and Tobago station to broadcast the match even if the rights had been secured.

Three days after the opening match of our country’s World Cup campaign, there has been sufficient time for everyone to sit and reminisce over the team’s performance. It is no pointing harping on the numerous mistakes, knowing that there is another game within four days.
However, there is need for constructive observation for the benefit of learning the lessons and recognising the mistakes on and off the field. My first critique is angled upon the person who decided that the stadium field must be fast, and figured that cutting the grass down to the roots was a great idea.
Big mistake! Ask any of the players of national teams of the past and even the present if that assessment was to their benefit and the answer may reveal the reason why the speed of the ball on the surface was an obstruction which may be partly responsible for inaccurate passing at a high percentage of over 30 per cent.
And while we can express surprise over the passing deficiency of the experienced players, the younger ones failed to recognise the need for adjustment and reduce the velocity of their passes.Then of course, it was easily recognisable that the selected players lacked cohesion and the silent communication which exists unassumingly among well knit football teams. It will take sometime for any new coach to get players to gel.
Coach Pfister may have been surprised of the low level competence of the basic skills by the players, and his focus may now have to be changed to the technical aspect of the players before he embarks upon the tactics of the game.There is no need to even discuss the selection of Anthony Warner as he demonstrated his inability to play at this level and who knows if he does not volunteer his omission from the team.
Khareem Hyland was my disappointment and I am certain that he is a much better player than he showed. Fortunately, this is where the experience of coach Pfister came to the fore. He saved the promising midfielder from himself and did not allow him to become fully frustrated. He will be better in his next start.
In hindsight, the decision to use Carlos Edwards on the left side was not a good idea, especially when both Kenwyne Jones and Darryl Roberts needed some accuracy in crossed balls, a feature of Edwards’ game from the right side, which may have brought much more success. It’s difficult to determine whether Stern John’s lethargy was because of the passing of his mother or his lack of readiness for this level of the game fitness-wise.
My condolences go to Stern and his family. It would not surprise me if that jolt would have done the national striker some form of emotional injustice. Nevertheless, the surface at the national stadium in Barbados is more suitable to our style of play in terms of a better grassed field when in its best condition.
I expect a much improved performance and my best wishes go to the team. Kenwyne Jones got his goal in his first match as captain and I hope that he is able to motivate the entire squad into lifting the quality of their performances and full commitment from all.

So by extension...given that they playing in "bush" today...the passing go be near to 100%. As the speed will be slower.
Riiiigggghhhttt....So the 4-5 days they practice on the short grass before, they ent get they touch in gear then. Or was it a conspiracy and they cut the grass on game day.
Look them men is PROS...wearing $US 300 boots that making the ball stick to yuh foot and ben and swerve when needed. The reason they cannot make a proper pass is not the height of the HCS grass but years of repetition of the wrong thing and learning improper technique.
Look...if a man cyar make a pass on short grass he ent supposed to be playing no fitball, worse yet be on a national team.

Since when dey change dey nickname?Back in 1997, Barbados defeated the Trinidadians 1-0 at the Shell/Umbro Cup with Jerry Alexander scoring.
The match was a friendly, and our team in that match was described as a "no-name squad".It was the first win for Barbados over Trinidad since 1995, but later that year, Trinidad earned a 1-1 draw at Dover in a friendly.
I'm not aware of us playing dem in 1995. As far as I know, the last time we lost to them before 1997, was in 1976.

Di man kneel dung to get a ball and di ball hit he knee and fly right back into the center of the field.. another one went right thru he hands.. dread I crack up laughing when I see dat... and then anytime di man hold a ball The crowd start clapping him and talk bout laughing.. Look i eh wanna hear about Warner again nuh. I could excuse dem schoolboy errors from a young and upcoming keeper, but not some almost 40 year old hard back horse who been around the block and back. A good experienced goalkeeper doesn't make those kind of mistakes.
There is a reason why he doesn't start anywhere he plays.
Pfister say he call him up to have a look and assess and make a decision, well I hope after what he saw the make the right decision and pick Marvin Phillips.

Daniel Leon/Birch Wolfe
Adams James/Power Carlos
Samuel
Hyland should come off the bench, likewise Tinto.
Wolfe is a natural forward and I rather have CE backing him up.
We could put Peltier up front and Let Roberts go on the left.

Worm, I had an idea recently to create a channell on the Roku player to show games involving both Jamaica and T&T (and any other games of interest for that matter. I am currently developing the channel, and will touch base with you shortly on obtaining a catalog of all the videos you have that might be good candidate for this channel - as long as the video can encoded in .mp4 format. I already have software that can encode the vidoes. The Roku players are fairly inexpenisve (you can get one for abt US$45). What it does basically is allow those of us who dont enjoy watching games on a computer screen to see them on their (normally larger) television sets instead. I currently use my Roku box today to watch content from youtube, JustinTV etc on my widescreen tv in HD (before i was limited to watching these on my 20 inc computer screen. The Roku also offer over 200 free channels (this thing is going to kill cable)

there is also google tv as well, logitech i believe has a box with the same capabilities i believe.

i wanted to make ah foriegn call and rock dem unno... hoss when is the last time tnt held a clean sheet in 3 matches in a row? also we creating chances... we just not putting them away.. thats jones fault. I rather roberts play upfront than jones b.c he has more speed...
overall, i was pleased with the result on the road, knowing that bdos would put atleast 9 men behind the ball in their own half not easy to go threw that. the fact that bdos are also a physical side.. and the pitch didnt suit us at all.

Glad that T&T got the result. But let me remind some of yuh...... we just finish playing Bimshire. The real work will be in the game against Guyana and after. I think Guyana will give Bermuda more than 1. This means we need to make sure we beat Guyana both games.How much yuh want tuh bet? bermuda beatin guyana and barbados, so we need tuh win all our games. watch and see how guyana getting turn over tonight, and if not, they will @ least draw the game , but GT not beatin bermuda, no way.
PS: if they do beat bermuda i will be extremely surprised.

I was hoping we woulda give dem bout 5 as well...but we winning regardless. I could understand if we lossed or even drew the match... Right now we have no choice but to be positive and hope we show some improvement in the games to come....

Shout out to Just Cool, he's been calling for Roberts all de way to turkey, he boy in de team and setting up and scoring :beermug:Kenwyn, whitley, and hyland is meh boy too. breds, i only call for roberts bc this guy was one of our best goal scoring option after stern john and it seemed like latas never heard of him, so hence the reason i was livid about his constant exclusion by latas and pancho.
as i said before, pancho was ah madman and latas was extremely clueless, i'm sooooo happy that we finally have ah sane insightful coach, and these ole schmucks wants tuh spoil the party by callin for the coaches head bc he played one man out of position when our main left back is unavailable @ the moment. ::)

Just saw the goals on Bajan TV, first goal was Keon played it to Kenwyne, who played in Keon behind the defense. It was 2 on 0 and Keon took it himself by lifting it over the keeper. Roberts goal was a cross from the left, Kenwyne headed it down, there was a scramble, and Roberts forced it over the line.

so the bajans had a camera crew at the match, but could not televise the match, nor did all sport make a serious attempt to televise the game and send a crew. >:(

Two serious game in, it looks like the coach in putting a focus on building from the back - forward, and with a secondary goal of creating cohesiveness as the players play more with each other which is the right approach given that we haven't been very focused on fixing the defensive problems for many years. The forwards are concerning to me as I am not sure if Jones is an out and out finisher - with his height and jumping ability he has shown that he can beat most players on air balls, but on the ground I am still waiting to see the true striker ability. All I saying here breds is that we can't fool ourselves and think that Jones is the next Dwight Yorke. He is a marquee player for us and for good reason, but you have finishers/strikers and you have good forwards, Jones is a forward but not necessarily a world class striker like Yorke was for a period of his career. So when you don't have a clear goal scorer you need your two forwards to jointly pickup the goal scoring slack

With regard to KJ, i think his real value will show when we actually have to face the top teams in concacaf where opportunities will be at a premium and we will have to try and exploit set pieces and other dead ball situations. Given our inability to properly prepare my only requirement in this preliminary round is to win these games. Just the fact we can get our top professionals together for a full week of work with some games is a big big plus, to be honest we have not had this kind of full compliment since pre 2006.
The opposition over this group stage is just what we need to prepare for the next round. We will be challenged enough to ensure we work out the kinks but we have enough quality in our ranks to get the results needed

The fact that Antigua beat USVI 8 - 1 away from home and we are supposed to be better than them means that I cannot be happy with a 2 - 0 win over Barbados!
When the coach starts playing our players in their best positions and the strikers start putting their easy chances away then I will be satisfied and stop complaining. Note I am not knocking the coach yet! For now I just knocking the players for throwing away so many chances!! If the team loses against these softer opponents then I’ll start knocking the coach but so far he is doing okay in my book!
What is worrying is the fact that if we slip up against Guyana then we could be relying on goal difference to decide who are winners of our group. We need to be grabbing the opportunity to rack up the goals against our weaker opponents in our wc qualification drive!

The mental anguish that must have impacted these and other players for this same period of time is undoubtedly significant. Now it seems as if some of the fighting may have actually paid off w/JW seemingly out of the picture and perhaps his liutenants to shortly follow suit. New coach is here with some international pedigree, maybe we can lift our heads. Let the team gel, let's finish this current stage as group winners and advance to the next round with Mex, CR, and presumably El Sal.
The coach will build on those at his disposal and let's see how the chemistry and results evolve over the next several weeks, only then we can make a true assessment of his impact and where our football would stand, as for now, our football is just in recovery mode after several years of inactivity and political manipulation and mis-handling
PS: The need for long term planning and structure to our national program at all levels still needs to be addressed, until then we will continue to cycle

Having looked at some of the scores there is nuff proof that the weaker teams have caught up with the big boys in CONCACAF.Belize 1 Guatemala 2,Cayman Island 0 El Salvador0,Curasao 2 Haiti 3,Guyana APPEARS TO BE DOING BETTER AGAINST OPPONENTS WE STRUGGLED TO BEAT.There is no sure thing in CONCACAF,that is long time ting.Before allyuh jump out the window, lets see how they do on the road. they had two home games and they seem to protect they home field advantage. now the road awaits.

Guyana 2 Bermuda 1 FTAccording to the FIFA score board the game still playing.
they had Guyana leading 2-1 in the '53 but Khano Smith score for Bermuda in the '90 ???

Having looked at some of the scores there is nuff proof that the weaker teams have caught up with the big boys in CONCACAF.Belize 1 Guatemala 2,Cayman Island 0 El Salvador0,Curasao 2 Haiti 3,Guyana APPEARS TO BE DOING BETTER AGAINST OPPONENTS WE STRUGGLED TO BEAT.There is no sure thing in CONCACAF,that is long time ting.Before allyuh jump out the window, lets see how they do on the road. they had two home games and they seem to protect they home field advantage. now the road awaits.

Guyana is not ahead , they have scored 4 and conceded one , we scored 3 and conceded none so we are level on points and goals with ah make shift defense. don't worry, JLLoyd and primus will be in the mix if all next month if all goes well.Is this round six games home and away, or just 3 games?

I am worried that we may not cross it against Guyana and was hoping that we score at least 3 against Barbados to beef up our goal difference while we had the opportunity!!
All them easy chances against Barbados that we fail to score could easily come back to hunt us!

Is it me or that game look like a Sunday morning sweat in the Queens Park Savannah? The game slow, Barbados have some men that way overweight, the ground bumpy.... I really can't believe that is international football.
KJ look totally disinterested.... Maybe is just me and I eh getting on KJ but perhaps it's hard for him to get up for these games hence the laise faire attitude...
It look real jokey fuh real. I think the guys took it seriously though. It was probably a little more challenging to get up for because of the lack of atmosphere etc, but under the circumstances, I imagine the fellas took on the task like professionals.

Check out Germany, Holland, Spain, Portugal etc results against the minnows in qualifying in the last 4 tourneys or so. You could contrast that with England, France (since Zidane and co gone), Brazil since Scolari left... maybe Argentina.
Is not about fraiding Guyana. Is about installing a winning mentality...and not just a winning mentality but a winner's mentality. You doh half ass it on the field. When you get a side who have obvious failings you need to punish them. That is how you build confidence. And not only that, but that is how you damage the confidence of your opponent before he even step out on the field.

Mine is that we should have beaten Barbados by at least 3 given the amount of easy scoring opportunities we had and threw way! The opportunity come & gone for us to established a bigger goal difference or amount of goals scored than Guyana!!
And btw no one was calling for 8 goals versus Barbados that is a bogus argument! I simply posted the scoreline for the Antigua vs USVI game which ended 8 - 1 to Antigua playing away to show what T&T should be capable of and aiming for when we play weaker opponents like Barbados whether or not we play them home or away!
That doesn't mean that I demand that scoreline in every game and was unhappy with the 3 points!
What I was unhappy about is that we threw away so many easy scoring chances!
The moral of posting the Antigua away result to the USVI is that we should be aiming to score as many as possible against weaker opponents as goals scored and goal difference could become a deciding factor as to whom will top the group later on in the round!
Anyway the match is over now but I look at those easy chances we missed as a missed opportunity to give ourselves an early advantage over Guyana but hopefully we can make up for it in October when we host Barbados at home and when we visit Bermuda away!
Once again I thought this forum was a place where everyone can give their views and express their opinions? No need to jump on a man head because he has a different opinion to yourself, we are all here to share our views and hopefully learn from each other, unless some folks feel they know it all!

I would go so far as to say that Bermuda put up a better showing than them (posts notwithstanding) just based on those highlights, the commentary, the fact we didn't have no game under we belt at the time and what i see of the bermudans. Thereis no way we could have go into one of those group playing like this we will have been thumped pretty good. By The time Guyana comes around we will have played 4 games plus a fete match against Inida .thats 5 enough matches to gell a little. if guyana did beat bdos or bermuda like 5 - 0 ah might give them a five but no more, mexico and usa would be in that 5-6 range and top flight teams like spain brazil argentina holland germany 7 - 8 - range, but we (tnt) will see if we can pull off the hat trick of three wins against guyana, yes we throwing way real golas in both games the score line could have been higher, we have players we have a coach we now looking for the 'team' and i think against guyana we would see the team, as i not seeing that team spirit or feeling it yet.

Jones meh... Work ethics goes a long way.. Can expect to be lazy ... HARD WOrk is rewarded and I think that is the reason he didnt score against the Bajans. Surely Jones is class and we need him but he needs to realize this is his team now and he needs to lead by example, high work rate, less joggin.

Apparently.Yes i did! but i was wrong! bermuda somehow didn't come to play guyana the way they came to play us. i still maintain that bermuda is ah a strong team.Having looked at some of the scores there is nuff proof that the weaker teams have caught up with the big boys in CONCACAF.Belize 1 Guatemala 2,Cayman Island 0 El Salvador0,Curasao 2 Haiti 3,Guyana APPEARS TO BE DOING BETTER AGAINST OPPONENTS WE STRUGGLED TO BEAT.There is no sure thing in CONCACAF,that is long time ting.Before allyuh jump out the window, lets see how they do on the road. they had two home games and they seem to protect they home field advantage. now the road awaits.

Given what our football has been through in the last 6-9 months, as long as we keep winning and improving at this stage, I will personally keep the complaints to a miniumum, because a little over a month ago I was doubtful over whether or not we would even put a side out on the field (ok ah being a little dramatic but yuh get my point)... I honestly kinda view these matches against Bermuda, Barbados and Guyana as practice matches (except that we have to win them)...remember we hadn't played any proper practice matches eh?.... so I eh settling for mediocrity but I will take the step by step progress in stride... but that's just me.

I normally respect your opinion, but here we go agree to disagree.
By most teams, I talking about the majority of those that matter (we like to think we belong in that category), not the american samoas of this world. For every goal you see, a team does have three four shots - one might go overbars, one to the side and the keeper might save the third, the fourth might go in. I not talking about shots on target, i talking about shots. Is only certain players like Torres could get one shot off all match and score in the Euro final, and he not going to be the only man shooting..
I never call for no 6 or 8 goals, but the point is Barbados didn't belong on the field with us.
I would go so far as to say that Bermuda put up a better showing than them (posts notwithstanding) just based on those highlights, the commentary, the fact we didn't have no game under we belt at the time and what i see of the bermudans. Not a defensive powerhouse but a team that don't want to embarass their country putting players behind the ball in the defensive third. For teams that are not well established and looking to build for the future not getting trashed is a good way to start.
If you were from Bermuda, you would understand this a little better.

This man said that Bermuda capable of stopping any of the top 4 in Concacaf from scoring. I pointed out that they have kept 4 clean sheets in 40 games and ten years, the best of which is actually Barbados, and since then he have nothing to say.
He was also dead sure that guyana wouldn't beat Bermuda. Not only did they beat them, but they put more goals past them as well.
I know one thing for sure - who I NOT getting MY champions league analysis from.

Same ole story for Jones.. He seems like he doesn't want to be here. I really don't like strikers that just walk around on the pitch waiting for balls to come their way. Missing two sitters? No big deal.. we scored 2.What highlights you was watchin?? i see jones doing ah lot of things, even more than any other attackin player on the pitch.
Jones meh... Work ethics goes a long way.. Can expect to be lazy ... HARD WOrk is rewarded and I think that is the reason he didnt score against the Bajans. Surely Jones is class and we need him but he needs to realize this is his team now and he needs to lead by example, high work rate, less joggin.

i also saw him in the last fews seconds of the game coming up with ah crucial defensive header to clear the ball away from danger, :shameonyou: and for the record, that wasn't no sitters! it was all one on one opportunities.
in the first situation the bajan full back made ah soft back pass to the keeper and KJ pounce on it with two defenders trailing and he tried to chip the ball from ah difficult angle, the 2nd opportunity came when he collaborated with tinto when he broke the off side trap and the keeper came out and smothered it , he tried the go around the keeper but his first touch let him down, and guess what, it happens to bigger more prolific strikers.

basically it seems socapro wants the scoreline like our teams of the past
he is worried about our national team not beating these weaker sides by bigger margins and it concerns him, hence his opinion that we are underestimating these sides by saying we will win easily.
since we haven't blown out the competition so far, that worries socapro, hence his reason for stressing the need for our team to win by bigger margins, in his mindset he believes it leaves room for us to make a mistake and draw or lose because we are not blowing out these smaller teams.
i see where socapro is coming from now, however the boys don't look highly motivated against the minnows in my opinion and are happy for a clean sheet and goals, whether it be 1 or 2, also the boys are looking at gelling as a team and becoming a cohesive unit, plus the coach is experimenting with the smaller teams and trying new strategies, so I wouldn't be too worried, imagine we are experimenting and still beating the lesser teams.

excellent points, pfister may be slowing down the pace deliberately to take the edge away from the opponents, a methodical approach, where changes in the pace of the game can create scoring opportunities for TT and its front line.
i think some people are obsessed with winning by large margins, its more of an ego thing with certain people, the feeling of superiority. i like pfister's approach, any opponent watching the matches will not be 100% precise in their scouting of our team because its a work in progress and pfister probably will not reveal the strongest side at this point in time, its strategy.

To answer the questions...I definitely think DR has stepped it up some, but to be honest, ES should have crushed them...they've seemed very lathargic in the past two matches. But I'm sure they will be ready when the deadly group comes around.

We playing saga boy football and not taking the game into the next level or next gear. Men jogging around the field like is ah regeneration exercise. I guess the team follow the attitude and efforts of the captain. Where Arimaman and ngozi, again I ask alyuh what's the purposeof a captain?

That proves my point. All the players you mentioned learned their basics locally. But their drive and determination afforded them success. Dwight and Colvin Hutchinson went England together. I heard both were equally skillful. Who come home and who stayed in Eng. Dwight had the drive and desire. How much of the desire for success was motivated by Bertil. Look, players, writers, doctors, teachers leave TT for greener pastures. Africans leave to go the Euro in droves. Yet they still hire foreigners to coach their national team. But the local coach still have their job to do in honing the skill of the next Eto, Mikel, YaYa Toure,etc.

The government has made the funds available and all TTFF have to do after they take their cut is pay for what he say he want and stay out of his way. That proves my point. All the players you mentioned learned their basics locally. But their drive and determination afforded them success. Dwight and Colvin Hutchinson went England together. I heard both were equally skillful. Who come home and who stayed in Eng. Dwight had the drive and desire. How much of the desire for success was motivated by Bertil. Look, players, writers, doctors, teachers leave TT for greener pastures. Africans leave to go the Euro in droves. Yet they still hire foreigners to coach their national team. But the local coach still have their job to do in honing the skill of the next Eto, Mikel, YaYa Toure,etc.
True eh because I challenge anybody to tell me ah man Like Grovesnor is ah shit coach when he have 3 of the best players on de NT right now bein St. Anthony's Allums. But I see and agree with Zuritress point tho, because I hardly believe Latapy had free reign to do as he chose with the team. Only foreign coach I can think of that didn't have that kind of power is Maturana and despite that he had us looking tops against our central american opponents who generally on a more consistent basis outperform the CFU teams.

On the 2nd one where he tried to go around the keeper I not sure if that was the cause. It hard to work out how the bounce would cause him to boots it out that far. When yuh pushin the ball, if it is higher than expected you would hit under the ball and it would not go as far as you wanted it to, or it would bounce upward off your foot.
It did bobble just before he took that touch though.

OK when i say it's not a trini running the show, i mean this coach is not being dictated to he is the one laying down his plan and how it will be executed. The government has made the funds available and all TTFF have to do after they take their cut is pay for what he say he want and stay out of his way. That is why them old locals in uproar because they never had or would ever have that kind of power. I can tell you it is night and day between what locals call professional and what the rest of the world does. The last local that was given that power was Gally and he lived the professional life and implemented it and his results is there in black and white. Why he failed because when it mattered most he was not calling the shots on Nov 19Th. Professionalism is not about talent, it is an attitude.
I know that's what you mean and that's why I told you you eh know to much. I guess the coach did not want to play any friendlies before he go into WC qualification. Now where did I hear that before.....hmmmmm :thinking: :thinking:

Men in here clueless, Barbados use the field as there leveler, that field in no way should be approved for a world cup game. Bounce unpredictable and how can you run at full speed on that kind of surface. You go in get the job done(3Pt's) and no injuries and go home.
Somehow people in here feel Trinidad is some world power and is this same attitude that holds us back.
Life begins with your mentality and the German philosophy is about structured results ( just get the job done) and as you grow, the chemistry will build and the beauty in the cohesiveness will show out. So all the armchair pundits that feel they could go out there and do it better than a man who has spent his life working on his trade to the point where your ass have to spend your money to watch him play.
Life is full of people who hate on others because they cant achieve the same and instead of respecting the drive and commitment needed to reach where they are they talk BS. KJ, Stern, have earned respect as footballers, i don't know them personally so i am only commenting on their football skills and this is a football site. Sometimes lightening does strike in the same place twice, this German will build a very good team with the talent afforded him, the way qualifying is set up this team will make the hex and will compete and do well. Not because they deserve it but because it is not Trinidadians running the show
This is what i like to call "nail hitting the head" stuff. I was now coming on to type this.
Four time world cup winners Italy were one of the first teams to qualify for Euro 2012, but they did so by beating the Farore Islands 1-0 and Slovenia 1-0 to qualify.
I guess their fans should boycott the finals because they didnt win more heavily, especially against the islanders. They missed chance after chance and they have a better coaching system, youth development programme, professional league, players, training facilities etc.
Right now we should focus on getting results and once we get results, all these asshole who want we to play like Brazil will shut dey mouth.
I ask one simple question, which fans are happier in the premier league?
Stoke? (who got promoted, dont really play an attractive brand, but has made themselves a permanent fixture in the Prem) or
Blackpool? (who was everybody's second team, who played lovely attractive football, did the double over Liverpool, but got relegated after just one season)
Results are results, the team will get better with time, just let them grow...........
Imagine men expect Kenwyne to be running on that bumpy field like ah headless chicken ???
