Deadline passes ....for TTFF to pay Soca Warriors
By Ian Prescott (T&T Express)

Raymond Tim Kee, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) president-in-waiting may not even get a honeymoon period after he is installed unopposed as president on Sunday when the TTFF holds elections at the Cascadia Hotel.

Tim Kee faces the immediate challenge of getting Government funding for the Caribbean Cup Group Eight semi-final series which this country will host in Tobago from November 14-18. More importantly, Tim Kee may also have to negotiate a stay to contempt of court proceedings.

The local football body was in court last month facing contempt charges for failing to comply with court directives after they were sued by 13 members of the 2006 Trinidad and Tobago World Cup team, who are seeking a promised share of revenues collected. The TTFF have repeatedly failed to provide financial accounting of 2006 World Cup revenue.

Yesterday, a court-appointed deadline again passed without the TTFF complying with the directives of Port of Spain High Court Justice Vasheist Kokaram who allowed them additional time when they faced contempt of court charges before him last month. At the time, the TTFF had said it would do everything possible to get the accounts. It also indicated an intention to fully settle all financial disputes with the players by October month's end. However, player representative Brent Sancho reported that the TTFF failed to comply with any of the court's requirements by yesterday's court-appointed deadline.

"They haven't followed up with any of the judges requirements," player representative Brent Sancho declared yesterday. "We are now looking at the possibility of giving the new TTFF president Raymond Tim Kee 21 days to at least pay the interim payment of $4.6 million dollars which was given by the High Courts."

"The initial conversation with the TTFF considered a settlement, but nothing significant has come out of that," Sancho said. "If they were serious about that, they would come with a cheque. This shows that they are not serious about anything."

Sancho stated that the players are now forging ahead full steam with court proceeding against the TTFF. He said the next step will be to make further submissions before Justice Kokaram, indicating the TTFF had breached the agreement.

It should never be that because you going to have a new President in a couple days time that should warrant an additional 21 days.
What were the interim stooges doing all this time ? Is not like they were actively involved in campaigning for positions.  Watson himself saying his substantive position is VP and he going to continue doing his job regardless of the change.  So then he should've been putting things in place all the time.

Just a question, why should Raymond Tim Kee (new TTFF) have to pay ?

Shouldn't the guys go after Jack and Camps personally ? its not like the current TTFF have the money or money ?

As far as I recall, the case was against TTFF, Oliver Camps and Richard Groden.

However, if you were owed money by an employer and they told you that the Managing Director had retired so they no longer have to pay you, would you say thats fair?

The TTFF were the employer. They appointed the LOC2006 and put Warner in charge. TTFF owe the players the money as they are ultimately responsible. From Sunday evening, Tim-Kee is responsible for TTFF actions. If TTFF fails to comply, that will be Tim-Kee's decision from Sunday evening. He can go after those responsible if he chooses and this should protect him from any legal responsibility. Camps and Groden may be deemed to have acted improperly or irresponsibly and may face fines or worse (Bakes may be able to help here). If Warner if is found to be involved then TTFF have to take action against him.
But, ultimately, TTFF are responsible, as their role is to ensure there are checks and balances in place to prevent such occurrences and take action if their employees acted improperly.

I don't think these guys after the present TTFF. They have no money. So is Jack and Camps. The legal people can probably explain how this case will move forward from here.

But the players won't receive a penny from Jack Warner unless he is added to the case.
TTFF have to retrieve any money that they believe Jack owes them.
At this point, the debt is with TTFF.
However, if Mr Warner refuses to co operate with TTFF to supply information to the judge so that he can make a ruling, the judge may decide that Mr Warner, being the person with the specific knowledge and, possibly, being in possession of the said funds, required to resolve this case, may choose to add Mr Warner as a defendant.

As usual, I defer to other posters with legal expertise, but this is my understanding.

I'm not sure either! I think that may be the consequence if TTFF fail to comply with his order. As it stands, I believe that the deadline of November 7th was missed, TTFF have to produce $4.26 million on the 28th November. As you say, it's confusing!
