Damn good opening run. Not many open with a top ten performance. Big things to come this year from Gordon.

Commissioner Gordon Rules Gotham

Kelsey Margey's Statement Race | Results
Double bronze medalist Lalonde Gordon made his first appearance at the Armory since his momentous outdoor season, breaking the facility record in the 300 meters.
Gordon, a Queens resident and Trinidad & Tobago native, demonstrated his winter fitness by finishing in 32.48 seconds, a result that he hopes will set him up for his primary indoor goal: breaking his country’s national records in the 200 and 400 meters.
“It feels good,” Gordon said of his new Armory record. (The old one was 33.21). “It gives me more confidence for the season. I think I could have done a little better, but I’m pleased with the performance.”
The race came in the midst of the New York City Gotham Cup, the first collegiate meet of the season on the Armory schedule.
Gordon made huge progress in 2012, making the Olympic qualifying standard in the 400 meters in mid-July at the U.S. Club Nationals in Nebraska and then running PRs in every round of the Olympic Games in London. He ran 44.52 in the finals to earn bronze and later ran on T&T’s 4x400 and got another.
That result was a life-changer. Gordon represented Nike on Friday, indicating that he has signed a shoe deal.
But he says very little is different.
“It really hasn’t changed anything, I’m the same person,” Gordon said. “I’m still training and working hard.”
In going after his country’s records this winter, he will be going after some ambitious achievements.
Ato Boldon ran 20.35 seconds for 200 meters in 1997 and Ian Morris ran 44.21 for 400 in 1992.
After clocking the No. 9 all-time 300, Gordon feels closer than ever.
“It boosts me up a lot,” he said.

Ato 200 metres record is actually 19.77

20.35? Where he get that from

20.35? Where he get that from
I am going to assume that he was referring to Ato's indoor 200m record which is 20.35. He ran either 20.52 or 20.58 last season, so cutting off 2 tenths of a second seems well within range.

indoor fellas

Well if he going to talk about Ato and Morris in the same sentence with one record being indoor and the other being outdoor he himself has to be a bit more specific.

If you know your track, if Gordon is able of run 20.35 indoors that will likely translate into a significant improvement in his outdoor 200m PB, allowing him to run his first 200m of an outdoor 400m faster or at least with greater ease, then finish with an equal or faster last 200m than what he is accustomed to. At 44.52, he needs to chip away at a 0.31 seconds difference between his PB and Morris's national record. So that's what he is referring to when he speaks of improving his indoor 200m (inferring that he will also improve his outdoor 200m as well) to aid his 400m times, in the same sentence.

Breaking Ato's record is something that will eventually happen....but............

I dont see it from this bunch as yet, and I have serious reservations about the manner in which his 100m record went down.

TT doesn't like how RT took AB's 100m T&T National Record and questions the clock and RT's performance on that day despite the large winning gap and the times of everyone else in the field looking valid for what we could have expected from them as timed by the same electronic clock that timed RT! Go figure! :beermug:

Okay, I see. I understand now.
