real nice interviews there Ato!!!!
-
Thanks. Was short, short because she is really shy plus the language issues, but she is a legend and a superstar.
-
Your interview with Felix was real good also. The Dude is really articulate. Man, that was a surprise in London. But after hearing him explain the journey to London, you can't help but root for him. I am kind of glad he ran for DR as he is US born, correct me?! DR needed him as role model. Good luck to him.

Only a 10 k silver medalist or better could catch that lady.. the interview also made me look up and reflect some videos of Haile as well. the king is dead, long live the king..the Bekele /Gabreselassie clash was poetry in motion.. Although i was a sprinter myself, I admired so much the distance and cross country runners, probably as I couldn't do it well myself..thanks

"IT WAS LIKE WE DIDN’T EXIST"
In the latest episode of IAAF Inside Athletics, Ato Boldon chats to Olympic and four time world champion Bruny Surin to find out what has changed in the world of sprinting since their competitive days.
Male sprinting has developed drastically over the last decade. Only three athletes’ records from prior to the turn of the millennium feature in the top ten of the 100m all-time-list: Maurice Greene, Donovan Bailey and Bruny Surin.
Apart from technique, Boldon and Surin are wondering: what is the difference between competitors then and now? “The guys now are friendlier,” concludes Surin. “In our time there was more intimidation, a lot of talking. Now there is a lot less intimidation, the guys are together.”
Surin won 60m gold in the 1993 and 1995 world indoor championships, and with the Canadian relay dominated the 4x100m in the years of 1995-1997, beating the US relay on home turf in the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
He recalls going into the 1996 Games as underdogs, despite having won the world championships the previous year, when the USA dropped the baton. But the outsider-role suited the team.
“Even though we were one of the favourites to win gold or silver [on paper], not one time were we mentioned. It was like we didn’t exist. But for us it was more motivation.”
Find out what else Surin recalls from his days on the track in the full interview below:

Great series by A.B. I always look forward to watching them.
Why hasn't any Trini been interviewed? We had two champions in the last two years (Keshorn and Jehue). I thought one of them would have been on this series by now. Also how come no interview with Bolt?

Why does Ato need to interview Bolt when everyone knows about Bolt and his history in the sport with a number of Video Documentaries etc now out?
Regards interviewing Keshorn and Jehue I am sure interviews with them will come especially if they can both win gold next year at the World Champs.
Don't see the need for the rush to interview them both when all of T&T already know of their achievements so far and they both still have a lot to achieve to prove they can be multi gold medalists at Major Champs.

I respect your contribution to this site. But come on. That is a poor argument for not interviewing Bolt. Regardless of the amount of documentaries produced about Bolt, Bolt is the greatest sprint star the world has ever seen.. I think that is more than enough to merit an interview.
As for the Trinis. . The man interview Kilty. What has Kilty ever done? A gold in the 60m? Keshorn has much more accomplishments than Kilty. 3x Carifta gold.. Along with world junior gold and Olympic gold in the same. Not to mention he became the first non white person to win Gold in Javelin.
Jehue was also a world junior champ, multiple gold medalist at Carifta and world champion. Jehue is also the 2nd fastest junior in the 400mh..
Now enlighten me on Kilty's accomplishments. I am sure they can't even compare with Jehue and Keshorn.
Cheers

If you read my post properly I never argued that Ato should not interview Jehue and Keshorn, I simply argued that he will most likely interview them in the future as there is no rush.
Regards Bolt you also need to consider that he is very busy and may not have said yes to an interview as yet.

If it seems like this season of Inside Athletics is very high jump heavy, it is, but most feel the HJ world record won't survive this year, given the last two years in that event and those young stars coming of age.
Still to come this season are Michael Johnson, Gwen Torrence, Jehue Gordon, Yohan Blake, Jessica Ennis and many more.
Thanks for your continued support, track and field fans.
