T&T snatches 3rd-place from host Saudi.
By Inshan Mohammed.

A spectacular double from captain Kenwyne Jones and a fine individual goal by Andre Boucaud helped T&T overcome host Saudi Arabia 3-1 at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh today to cop third-place in the 2013 OSN Cup.

The Trinidad and Tobago team started off brightly with Jones netting his deuce in the 4th and 5th minute respectively. T&T would continue to control the game for the first half-hour and had a few more chances to bury the host even further.

The game however, would switch hands as T&T looked a bit tired and Saudi Arabia started to build momentum and launched repeated attacks on the T&T defence. Finally, the pressure paid-off and at the restart striker Hazazi would sneak behind T&T's defence and score a header off a well taken free-kick to bring his side back into the game.

Saudi Arabia never gave up and continued to pile attack on T&T defence. The Warriors held their own despite losing their captain who had gotten a knock and was taken off in the first half. T&T still managed to keep their spirits high and did well enough to keep the Saudi's at bay.

Then in the 85th minute a moment of brilliance came into play when midfielder Andre Boucaud intercepted a pass from Kevin Molino on the left from about 50 yards out and made a solo run on goal and calmly slotted a left-footed strike under the Saudi goalkeeper to seal the hard fought victory for the Warriors. It would be his first goal in T&T colors for the Notts County man.

T&T could have made it 4 in the dying minutes of the game when Marcus Joseph rifled a fierce free-kick from about 35 meters out that would ricochet off the woodwork, the Saudi keeper look shocked and would have to thank his goal-post for coming to his recuse.

Nice report Flex.

One thing though, that goal by Boucaud while individually brilliant on his part, was really a team effort. About 3 or 4 players was involved in that knock that eventually spring him after a one two with Peltier. At least that is how i see it. We go see in the replays when the highlights come out

And looks like UAE is on their way to winning the finals...they're up 2-0 right now against New Zealand in the 90th minute.

We could've easily won this tournament.

WOW, best goal I ever see Jones score.

Boss goals, boss win.

Boucaud is ah next boss.

Peltier, Molino and Hyland is Warriors.

Primus have 2 assist in two games, nice.

Bateau save we a lot but he still need to learn to pass lil better.

Abu is playing really good.

Ah like George eh, but he need to be more disciple, he need to also play a little ball too.

Marvin did good too, this will help Jan improve his game, he play captain, but he need to be more vocal. Maybe Boucaud or Bateau might have been better options as vice captain.

T&T need to learn two things, how to protect a lead and how not to drop they shoulders if they lost they best player, when Jones came off it affected them fellas. Nobody step up to take charge.

Congratulations to the entire team and coaching staff. a morale booster a huge win and an enormous leap of accomplishments from one year ago nah from BH- before coach Hart.
We don't keep perfection at this time but we need wins, competitive footballs nd continuous improvement. This is massive for us as we are looking on to Wc qualifiers.
Very very encouraging to see players stepping up: looks like we along with the USA may not need De Leon!!!!!!!
Cordell Cato out dry along with Carlye Mitchell - Keon sometimes Daniel may be on the outside looking in. Cyrus could be left at the tarmac.   As we work on the football side of things we have to ensure that we professionalism is developing as we'll. man have to yearn to wear the Red White and Black.
Once more congrats- well done. TNT will rise again

Express say NZ interested in a game on Oct FIFA date, would be nice.  Need to keep building, before you know it 2014 WC would have gone and 2018 will be on the horizon...

Unfortunately, the responsibility of the adult word got in the way and I could not see the game, but viewed the highlights and I am just happy that the warriors got a result, despite whatever technical deficiencies other forum members observed during the match. In fact, the match against UAE was equally impressive as our boys came back from 3-0 down, and that showed a resolve and determination, the likes of which I have not really seen before with our team.

Our team is gaining in confidence and is learning to win.

After the musical chairs sequence with coaches in the last few years, I believe Hart is the one to be a permanent fixture in the coaching seat for a long while yet....

*Cough* TTFF finances permitting of course, but that is a discussion topic for another day.

FYI, KJ scored the most goals (3) in the OSN Cup, and since the 2013 Gold Cup has scored 8 goals in 8 starts for club and country.   :applause:

Hmm... Suggestion... Another 4 team tournament T&T, Jamaica, NZ and ??? We could split the cost with the Jamaican federation and hold two double headers. One here, one there. Don't know if the FIFA dates/WC qualifiers would allow the time but it's an idea.

Hart's reaction is equally priceless; no jumping up and down or premature celebration. He actually looked like he knew the match wasn't over yet and wanted our players to stay focused.

Yeah he enjoying a fine run of form... despite my past criticism of him, truly happy to see him play up to the level many expected of him.  Hope his productivity picks up for Stoke too... as much as I can't stand them still.
