Reggae Boyz vs Soca Warriors
By Paul Clarke (Jamaica Gleaner)

Jamaica Football Fede-ration (JFF) president, Captain Horace Burrell, yesterday announced that the Reggae Boyz will play two international friendly games on the two upcoming FIFA dates.

The national senior team will take on the Soca Warriors of Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago in a two-match series. Jamaica will host the Trinidadians on Friday, November 15 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex beginning at 8 p.m. The squad will then depart the island for Trinidad for the return game on November 19.

Captain Burrell indicated that the Federation was seeking to keep a national senior team active as the country begins its campaign for the 2018 World Cup.

A grateful Montego Bay mayor, Glendon Harris, affirmed the city's willingness to host the match and urged its citizens to support the game.

"I am calling on the fans as well as corporate entities in the city of Montego Bay to support the game by purchasing tickets," said the mayor, stressing that football brings great benefits to the city.

Local-based players

Meanwhile, national senior men's coach, Winfried Schäfer, said that it was his intention to work with a cadre of local-based players in order to develop them into a core group which will be capable of holding their own on the international stage.

Coach Schäfer stressed that the country and the national football programme will be strengthened when local-based players can go overseas on professional contracts and then come back to represent the country.

Ticket prices for the game at the Montego Bay Sports Complex: VIP $1,500, grandstand $1,000 and bleachers, $500.

Jamaica Government might be tinkering on bankruptcy, that doesnt mean that the average man is so destitute he cant find $1000 (US $10) to go see a football match....40,000 people will easily pay that if the team is playing good football.

nothing but a good practice game for both teams, another opportunity to take a look at some local players, as far as I concerned...Doh need to win as much as need to make proper use of  this preparation and future selection opportunity. For when we really go to war...No sense in beating up the sparring partner and then getting knockout on the 1st punch in the major event. How ah type, vb ?

T&T and Jamaica square off in home and away series
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).

Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Team will close off their 2013 calendar with a home and away friendly international series against Caribbean rivals Jamaica on November 15th in Montego Bay and Port of Spain on November 19th.

This was confirmed on Saturday following initial discussions between the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and the Jamaica Football Federation last month.  The T&T team, under head coach Stephen Hart, will travel to Montego Bay on November 12th for the first match at the Catherine Hall Complex before returning for the second match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on November 19th at a kick off time to be determined.

Hart described the two matches which falls on FIFA dates, as another valuable pair of outings for  T&T  which is gearing towards the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign while JFF President Captain Horace Burrell also stated in Kingston on Saturday that the games would be viewed as the launch of Jamaica’s 2018 World Cup journey.

“It’s always a match with a lot to look forward to and a competitive one of that when these two countries meet,” Hart told TTFA Media.

“There is a lot of history and rivalry between us and I expect it to be no different later this month. We are continuing to work towards finding the right balance, the right combination of players and the right mindset and approach as it relates to our preparations for future competitions with the 2018 qualification being the main objective and we will treat these two matches in the same manner,” Hart added.

T&T’s last win over the “Reggae Boyz” was in 2001, a 2-1 win in the Caribbean Cup at the Hasely Crawford Stadium while the Jamaicans won the last two previous meetings, 1-0 in Kingston 2010 and 3-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium that same year.

The T&T squad for the two games will be announced later this week and the TTFA will also reveal further information about the return match over the next couple of days. The TTFA is being supported by the Ministry of Sport and the Sportt Company for this two-match series.

One time rf answer this please. Minimum wage is what in Jamaica? And average land cost....lower and upper ranges.
Thanks.

Jamaica's annual minimum wage is higher than that of places like India, Mexico, Cuba, Honduras etc.

"...The National Minimum Wage was last increased in September 2012, moving from $4,500 to $5,000 per forty-hour work week. The minimum rates for security guards also increased from $6,655 to $7,320.50 per 40-hour work week..."

Security guards take home a minimum roughly US$73 per week, day-workers, household helpers etc around US$50 per week.

It's a shame the WB haven't released PPP figures for Jamaica since 2005 - they'd give you a better indication of living standards v income. As an example, the WB ranksTrinidad and Tobago 40th by GDP per capita, but 36th by Purchasing Power Parity as living in Trini is cheaper to live in than some other countries (you overtake Portugal and Greece for a start)

Jan Michael and Winny. But not sure if we can spare them for both games. 19th is not a FIFA date.
Problem is, for some unknown reason, the F.A. Trophy is scheduled at the same time. Next 6 weeks are crazy if you have a good cup run:
8th/9th    Toyota Classic
13th        F.A. Trophy
14th        Jamaica (A)
16th/17th Toyota Classic
19th        Jamaica (H)
20th        F.A. Trophy
22nd       Toyota Classic
27th        F.A. Trophy
29th        Toyota Classic
4th          F.A. Trophy
6th/7th    ProLeague
11th        F.A. Trophy semi
13th        F.A. Trophy  final

That does not make any sense, why choose an international friendly to give a player a farewell game?are we serious?this is an opportunity to look at players you will need for the future, assess players, players gaining international experience, getting the public to know who and what we have,i had a problem identifying players at the last game,i knew names because of this site but could place who is who.I see where Jamaica will be useing locals for the games, that makes a bit of sense to me.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association today announced at a Press Conference that the November 19th Friendly International against Jamaica at the Hasely Crawford Stadium will see two of this country's 2006 World Cup team members recalled to the current senior team for a send off in front of the home fans.. Christopher Birchall and Carlos Edwards will be added to the Squad and local fans will have their opportunity to say thank you to the two stalwarts for their services to the country. Birchall has officially announced his retirement from the international game while Edwards has hinted his intentions.

A little (not-so-secret) secret is being missed in these back and forth postings.
TTFA needs MORNEY.
They really eh dah concerned about Birch and "Los" geyyin' an appreciation day. Fork dat.
Just like the Say-a-prayer-and-come-out-and-support-Akeem-by-buying-a-t-shirt quasi fiasco, dey need an excuse to tug on de heart strings of a still partially apathetic football public and get some nice gate receipts for the broke-ass TTFA still reeling from Coops's hero's mega-siphoning off of funds.
Look on the bright side, daiz far far better than Jackulito's cabal's deeds, cause at least we killing two birds with one stone, one helping the team develop and the other filling up the coffers. I am grateful.
Bring de games. Small steps every month with a coach that the players seems desperate to play for.
Licks for de yardies!!

A testimonial match (if so to speak) is really a great send off for both players, well done by the TTFA. Both players can still play competitive football and will not break the quality of the game in any way, should be a great game no the less for the players and the crowd.

I hope they can probably go a bit further and invite Gally and his Strike Squad to the game on the 19th.

When we show players that we appreciate them it only argues well for further players.

‘Keeper Williams ready to face ‘Reggae Boyz’
T&T Express Reports.

Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams wants the public to turn out in their numbers to show support to the Caribbean “Classico” encounter between T&T’s “Soca Warriors” and Jamaica on November 19, especially with English-based duo Carlos Edwards and Christopher Birchall in the lineup.

Williams was speaking yesterday as he looked at the make up of the T&T team selected by head coach Stephen Hart. He is enthused over the opportunity to face the “Reggae Boyz” in a pair of home and away fixtures.

“They are always our biggest Caribbean rivals,” Williams told TTFA Media.

“We didn’t get the opportunity to play them in the Caribbean Cup last year and obviously we didn’t meet in the World Cup qualifiers, so I think this will be a showdown to close off what has been a pretty good year for our national team.

“I know we as players will be raring for the games because of the rivalry involved, and we want to put on a good show in Montego Bay, and then when we come home on the 19th before the home fans,” said the Central FC custodian.

“This is a really big test for us and I can speak on behalf of the entire squad, I know with the new coach and everyone involved now we will be eager to get positive results both home and away. Stephen Hart is doing an exceptional job in terms of leading the team and justifying his selections. The captain Kenwyne (Jones) is also doing a really good job in leading the squad in the direction of where we want to go,” Williams added.

About the recall of Edwards and Birchall for their send offs before the home fans, Williams said he feels privileged to have played alongside them.

“I am excited to be in the squad for this game with these two players. They were two instrumental members of the squad and they were consistent in our efforts to get to the 2006 World Cup. And I am happy they will have the chance to be with  us for the second game. All in all it will be a good occasion and it should be exciting for all of us.”

The T&T squad will depart for Montego Bay on Tuesday morning ahead of Friday’s first match. The return match at Hasely Crawford Stadium kicks off at 8pm on November 19.

Warriors leave for Jamaica today
...Edwards happy for appreciation
T&T Express Reports.

Carlos Edwards has already packed his bags ahead of his flight to Port of Spain this Thursday, but has sent a message that he still has the legs to keep on representing the Red,White and Black.

The 35-year-old Ipswich Town player has been invited along with Chris Birchall to line up for Trinidad and Tobago in the November 19 friendly international at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

In a gesture by national team head coach Stephen Hart, local fans will have the chance to show their appreciation for Edwards and Birchall, who has officially announced his retirement.

Edwards will be arriving home on Thursday but wants his fans to know that he hasn’t retired from the international game and will still be available to play for T&T in the future once he falls into the plans of the coach.

“I was surprised but I’m happy that the Association sees it fit to offer the opportunity to Chris and myself to play before the home fans. I’m not getting any younger but at the same time, I’m still playing at a relatively high level and I intend to keep playing. I still want to offer my services to the national team of Trinidad and Tobago” Edwards told TTFA Media on Sunday.

“It was always my intention to keep on playing. I played the whole Gold Cup and I missed the entire preseason for my clubs so I decided it might be a good time to take a back seat from international football for a little while. But I don’t intend to call it quits just yet.

I think I still have something to offer in terms of helping the team and helping the younger players to develop with the experience that I have now. We have to build for the future and I’d like to be part of the it,” added the former Defence Force and St Anthony’s College player.

Edwards added that he hopes to link up with his 2006 teammates at some point in the future.

“I always love playing against Jamaica and I think this will be a good, competitive match on the 19th. But for me, the real occasion will be lining up with the boys from the 2006 squad before the home crowd. I feel special in a way to have this game on the 19th but you look at players like Dwight Yorke and Dennis Lawrence, it would be lovely to do it with them at some time in the future.”

Meantime, the T&T 18-man squad will depart for Montego Bay this morning with some of the overseas-based players meeting the local contingent there. T&T and Jamaica will meet in the first of two friendlies on Friday night.

I agree with Coops. If we're doing a testimonial then do that. This is an international friendly. Their ability to contribute is immaterial since they won't be expected to contribute in the future. There are 2 players who will not get an opportunity to show their worth in an international when there are no points at stake.

On another note, any word yet on ticket prices and outlets?

Deshorn Brown to join Jamaican National Team for friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago
coloradorapids.com

Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown has been called up by the Jamaican National Team for upcoming friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago on November 15 and 19. Jamaica will host the first match in Montego Bay on Friday the 15th before visiting Port of Spain on the 19th. Brown has made two appearances with the Reggae Boyz, coming in the final matches of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying in October.

“We’re always pleased to see our players getting opportunities for their national teams, and Deshorn Brown took full advantage of his chance with Jamaica in October,” said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. “This experience will continue to help Deshorn develop his game and stay fit in our offseason, and we wish him the best.”

Brown, 22, emerged as a Rookie of the Year candidate during his first professional season, having been drafted 6th overall by the Rapids in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. The speedy striker finished with ten goals in 31 appearances (24 starts), leading both Colorado and all MLS rookies, and was also tied for third on the team with four assists (trailing only fellow Rapids player Dillon Powers among MLS rookies). The native of Manchester, Jamaica played in each of Jamaica’s most recent matches, the final two CONCACAF qualifying games for the FIFA World Cup,

The Rapids have finished the 2013 season, setting several franchise records during the regular season and qualifying for the playoffs for the 12th time in team history. The club is expected to have the 11th overall selection in January’s MLS SuperDraft, after which the team will reconvene in Denver for preseason.

I had a chance to work with Deshorn Brown when he played at University of Mobile, before leavng to go to University of Central Florida. He is a very good player, very quick, and his size may be deceiving. I spoke to him last week he is very excited to play, he could be a handful. He has done very good for Colorado Rapids as a rookie. the guys in the MLS  will be familiar with him as he would have played against them this season.

D.C. United Homegrown forward Michael Seaton called up to Jamaica Men’s National Team
dcunited.com

D.C. United today announced that Michael Seaton has been selected to the Jamaica Men’s National Team roster for two upcoming friendlies against Trinidad & Tobago. The first game will be played on Nov. 15 in Montego Bay with the second game taking place on Nov. 19 in Port of Spain.

Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, the forward participated in the CFU U-17 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in July with the U-17 Jamaica National Team, tallying two goals in wins against Bermuda and Antigua and Barbuda. This will be Seaton’s first appearance with the Men’s National Team.

The Youth Academy product signed with United on Jan. 14, 2013, becoming the fifth Homegrown player to sign with the Black-and-Red, and the first MLS player to be born after the league began play. In March, he was loaned to the Richmond Kickers of the USL Pro League where he featured in 15 games (11 starts) and finished with five goals and one assist on the season. For United, the teenager saw action in three league games and recorded his lone assist in an international friendly against Chivas De Guadalajara on July 12.

Hart expects tough ‘Reggae Boyz’ test
T&T Guardian Reports.

Soca Warriors coach Stephen Hart says he expects Jamaica to be tough hosts in tomorrow’s friendly International at the Catherine Hall Stadium Sports Complex, in Montego Bay.

The “Reggae Boyz” are coming off a 2-2 draw with 2014 World Cup qualifiers Honduras in their final qualifying match last month but finished bottom of the six-team table and are using this match to launch their Russia 2018 campaign, as announced by Jamaica Football Federartion (JFF) president Horace Burrell earlier this month. T&T, back then, had played to a 0-0 draw at home to New Zealand, Brazil 2014 World Cup hopefuls, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

German Winfried Schafer is now at the helm of the Jamaican team and he is eager to secure his first victory at home with the 1998 World Cup finalists. Additionally, the Jamaicans are not too impressed by T&T’s recent jump ahead of them in the latest Fifa rankings with the “Warriors” one spot ahead of them in 81st position.

“It’s quite natural that they will try to be very difficult opponents because they are at home and the rivalry between the two countries is one of the biggest in Concacaf,” Hart said.

“They are coming off a campaign that didn’t go too well for them and they are in the process of preparing for 2018, in a similar position to us at the moment.

But we’ve arrived in Montego Bay also fully aware of what this game means to us and our people and the players are always ready for this kind of challenge. I know a lot of the boys are quite keen to get a good result and we will approach the game in a manner that it deserves.”

Hart will have to do without Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel, who did not make the trip to join the T&T team after being called up last week.

The T&T coach will not name a replacement which means T&T will go into Friday’s game with 17 players as Port Vale’s Christopher Birchall, Carlos Edwards of Ipswich Town and North East Stars’ Trevin Caesar will join the team on Saturday ahead of Tuesday’s return friendly at Mucurapo.

For that match, Hart will also excuse Justin Hoyte as the player has just completed a move to Millwall and the club has requested his presence in their camp ahead of their next outing while defender Sheldon Bateau will also return to Belgium to rejoin KV Mechelen following Friday’s match in Montego Bay.

Hoyte, speaking at the team’s base at the Hilton Hotel in Montego Bay, was quite eager about facing the Jamaicans on Friday.

“I’m ready for them. I’ve heard a lot about this match up and I’m really looking forward to stepping on the pitch and being part of it. I would have loved to be in squad for the two games but obviously Millwall wants me to be around because I’ve just signed with them and the manager wants me to be in the preparations after Friday. I’m very thankful to Stephen Hart and the association for their understanding,” Hoyte said.

Stoke City’s Kenwyne Jones and the 16 other members trained in Montego Bay on Tuesday night and were carded to engage in another session yesterday evening.

Tickets for Tuesday’s match which will be available from today, are priced at $100 (covered stands) $75 (uncovered) and children under 12 free. Tickets will be available at Kenny’s Sports Outlets nationwide and Fan Zone Movie Towne (Port of Spain) and Gulf City.

T&T star Jones here for friendly series
By Paul Reid (Jamaica Observer)

Kenwyne Jones, who starts for English Premier League team Stoke City, will lead Trinidad and Tobago's attack against Jamaica in their friendly international at the Montego Bay Sports Complex tomorrow evening, starting at 8:30 pm.

Jones arrived in the island yesterday and was listed in the Trinidad team that was announced at a press conference held at the RIU Montego Bay Hotel in Rose Hall.

He is the top scorer this season so far with four goals for Stoke City, who are in 17th place in the EPL, just above the relegation zone, one of three teams with 10 points.

Jamaica, meanwhile, have included three teenagers in their team — schoolboys Isamnia Cohen of Manchester High and Khesanio Hall, who has scored 34 goals for St Elizabeth Technical in the daCosta Cup.

Seventeen-year-old striker Michael Seaton, who is from Spanish Town and was part of the 2012 Under-17 team and is now part of the DC United Academy, has also been called up by coach Winfried Schafer.

Meanwhile, Schafer also said they had invited Montego Bay United's striker Dino Williams, but the player had to turn down the invitation as he was injured.

The Caribbean rivals will play two games during the FIFA break with the second game set for Trinidad on Tuesday, and the coaches for both teams think the games will be good for their respective programmes.

Schafer told the press conference that the games against Trinidad "are a very good test for us" and said the series of games planned will allow the young players to grow.

The games he said "will give the young players the chance to make mistakes so we can help them get better".

The German, who is expected to sign a new four-year contract with the Jamaica Football Federation soon, said "this is the start of a new chapter where we can test players and see what we have".

Stephen Hart, who formerly coached the Canadian national senior men's team, said this was "a rebuilding phase for our programme and we need to play against teams like Jamaica", and also promised "entertaining football to give the fans what they pay for".

Squads:

Jamaica — Richard McCallum, Jermaine Anderson, Montrose Phinn, Kemar Lawrence, Brian Brown, Gariece McPherson, Keammar Daley, Darren Mattocks, Omar Daley, Alva Powell, Adrian Reid, Deshawn Brown, Jason Johnson, Michael Seaton, Je-Vaughn Watson, Decoy Williams, Upstan Edwards, Ricardo Morris, Jermaine Woozencroft, Andrew Vanzie, Isamnia Cohan, Khesanio Hall

Trinidad and Tobago — Jan-Michael Williams, Cleon John, Daneil Cyrus, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Carlyle Mitchell, Aubrey David, Curtis Gonzales, Justin Hoyte, Kevan George, Densill Theobald, Joevin Jones, Ataullah Guerra, Kenwyne Jones, Rundell Winchester, Andre Boucaud, Sheldon Bateau, Lester Peltier.

Jamaica, T&T ready to rumble
By Adrian Frater (Jamaica Gleaner)

HOSTS Jamaica and arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) will be aiming for good performances tomorrow night, when they square off in the first of two friendly international football games at Montego Bay Stadium in St James, starting at 8:30 p.m.

"This is the beginning of our 'Road to Russia' 2018 campaign ... this is a chance to test some of our young, local-based players and the US-based players," said Reggae Boyz head coach Winfred Schäfer, during a press conference in Montego Bay yesterday.

"Presently, we are looking to build a team for the future with players who are of good character."

Following Friday night's game, which promises to be the first of many games the Jamaica football Federation (JFF) plans to stage in Montego Bay, the teams will journey to Trinidad for the return contest, at Hasely Crawford Stadium, next Tuesday.

"We are grateful for this opportunity to play these two games against Jamaica ... we are in a rebuilding phase in our programme ..., this should be a good test against a Jamaican team which was recently involved in a competitive World Cup campaign," said Stephen Hart, T&T's head coach.

He added: "We are hoping to put on a good performance that should provide the team with high-quality entertainment."

Testing their mettle

While the Reggae Boyz and the Soca Warriors will be testing their mettle on the lush green Catherine Hall surface, Jamaica Football Federation boss Captain Horace Burrell will be testing the readiness of the west to host international football.

"The support we get from this game on Friday night will go a long way in determining whether or not it is feasible to stage games here in western Jamaica," said Burrell. "The Catherine Hall facility is a small facility and even if it is full to capacity, that might not cover the cost of staging the game."

Fans utilising the bleachers, which holds approximately 4,000 fans, will be required to pay a $500 entry fee, while those occupying the grandstand, which includes the VIP area, will be asked to pay $1,000 and $1,500, respectively.

SQUADS:

JAMAICA: Richard McCallum (Waterhouse), Jermaine Anderson (Waterhouse), Montrose Phinn, (Harbour View), Kemar Lawrence (Harbour View), Brian Brown (Harbour View), Gariece McPherson (Cavalier SC), Keammar Daley (Tivoli Gardens), Darren Mattocks (Vancouver Whitecaps), Omar Daley (Minnesota United), Alvas Powell (Portland Timbers), Deshorn Brown (Colorado Rapids), Jason Johnson (Houston Dynamo), Michael Seaton (DC United), Je-Vaughn Watson (FC Dallas), Dicoy Williams (Harbour View), Upston Edwards (Portmore United), Ricardo Morris (Portmore United), Jermaine Woozencraft (Montego Bay United), Andrew Vanzie (Portmore United), Insamnia Cohen (Manchester High School), Khesanio Hall (St Elizabeth Technical High School) and Adrian Reid (Portmore United)

AWOL again: Keon Daniel’s Warrior future in doubt
By Lasana Liburd (Wired868)

Port Vale midfielder Chris Birchall might not be the only Trinidad and Tobago midfield star who waves goodbye to his international future in the upcoming home and away friendly series against Jamaica.

“Soca Warriors” head coach Stephen Hart had hoped to use the international get-togethers to have a long chat with 26-year-old Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel about his future with the national team.

Instead, Hart might have to make that decision without him as the talented United States-based player again skipped international duty and failed to show for duty in the build-up to the Warriors’ fixture at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay tomorrow.

Photo: Trinidad and Tobago and Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel.
Photo: Trinidad and Tobago and Philadelphia Union midfielder Keon Daniel.
Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) general secretary Sheldon Phillips confirmed that Daniel did not make his flight to Jamaica and that Hart has no idea why.

“It is very disappointing,” Phillips told Wired868. “Hart contacted me by email yesterday to tell (Daniel) missed his flight (and) we have had no reason (for it) whatsoever.

“Hart has tried to reach him but has not been able to get on to him so far.”

In the last 13 months, Daniel was invited to 20 Trinidad and Tobago games—excluding the Warriors’ home friendlies against Peru and New Zealand—by a combination of coach Hutson “Barber” Charles, the dual stewardship of Jamaal Shabazz and Charles and then by current boss, Hart.

Daniel showed up for only five of those matches, or just 25 percent of the times he was summoned.

The left footed playmaker skipped the 2012 Caribbean Cup semi-final and final rounds but was allowed to rejoin the squad for friendlies away to Belize and Peru in March without apologising to the team or local fans.

Daniel played against Belize but pulled out of the game in Peru and then declined the chance to play against Romania and Estonia in June.

Still, he was invited to play at the Gold Cup finals; possibly at the expense of either Caledonia AIA attacker Keyon Edwards or Central FC winger Jason Marcano.

Daniel scored Trinidad and Tobago’s first goal of the Gold Cup, in a 2-2 draw with El Salvador, and replaced the absent Khaleem Hyland in central midfield for the Warriors narrow 1-0 quarterfinal loss against Mexico.

However, his form wavered throughout the tournament and he did not feature at all in the Warriors’ only 2013 Gold Cup win, which was a 2-0 triumph over Honduras that assured them of only their second ever appearance in the knockout round.

Daniel subsequently ruled himself out of the OSN Cup and games against United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Hart responded by not selecting Daniel in the squad that drew goalless with New Zealand last month. At the time, the coach told Wired868 that Daniel did not appear sufficiently enthused about representing his country.

The Jamaica games were supposed to be an opportunity for Daniel and DIRECTV W Connection defender Daneil Cyrus to confirm their commitment to the national cause.

“Cyrus contacted me and we discussed what we had to discuss,” said Hart, in a previous interview. “I told him we will talk further in camp on not just his missing Saudi Arabia but his future with the national team. It is the same for Daniel.”

Cyrus will have that chat with Hart in Jamaica. But Daniel, who has an impressive 58 full international caps with 13 goals, was again a no-show.

Trinidad and Tobago has opted not to call a replacement for the Philadelphia player and Hart will have just 17 players to choose from tomorrow.

Point Fortin Civic midfielder Marcus Joseph and Defence Force winger Kevon Carter are among the top potential candidates to replace Daniel in the squad that will face the “Reggae Boyz” from 8 pm on Tuesday November 19 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

England-born right back Justin Hoyte, who just completed a transfer to England Championship team Millwall, will not play in the Trinidad leg against Jamaica after Hart agreed to allow him more time with his new club.

Hoyte is expected to start tomorrow though as the Warrior tackle a Jamaican team that should be fired up by its new German coach Winfred Schafer, who won the 2002 African Cup of Nations with Cameroon and recently coached Thailand.

“It’s quite natural that they will try to be very difficult opponents because they are at home and the rivalry between the two countries is one of the biggest in Concacaf,” Hart told the TTFA Media. “They are coming off a campaign that didn’t go too well for them and they are in the process of preparing for 2018, in a similar position to us at the moment. But we’re (…) fully aware of what this game means to us and our people and the players are always ready for this kind of challenge.

“I know a lot of the boys are quite keen to get a good result and we will approach the game in a manner that it deserves.”

Trinidad and Tobago squad to face Jamaica in Montego Bay:

Goalkeepers: Jan-Michael Williams (Central FC), Marvin Phillip (Point Fortin Civic);

Defenders: Justin Hoyte (Millwall—England), Daneil Cyrus (W Connection), Radanfah Abu Bakr (Vostok—Kazakhastan), Carlyle Mitchell (Vancouver Whitecaps—Canada), Sheldon Bateau (KV Mechelen—Belgium), Curtis Gonzales (Defence Force), Aubrey David (Caledonia AIA);

Midfielders: Andre Boucaud (Notts County—England), Kevan George (Columbus Crew—US), Densill Theobald (Caledonia AIA), Lester Peltier (Slovan Bratislava—Slovakia), Ataullah Guerra (RoPS—Finland), Joevin Jones (W Connection);

Forwards: Kenwyne Jones (Stoke City—England), Rundell Winchester (Central FC).

Additions for Trinidad leg: Carlos Edwards (Ipswich Town—England), Chris Birchall (Port Vale—England), Trevin Caesar (North East Stars).

So, who is the damn playmaker? Guerra's game is weak, until he proves otherwise. Theobald is not a playmaker. Joevin Jones? That is questionable, until proven otherwise. Boucard? Maybe. George is a defensive mid. Who is the effin playmaker? This midfield is like Swiss cheese. Full of holes. Aye Hart, you trying to be funny or what?

They want to give Sedley Joseph money because he in need so why didn't they charge a hundred and just donate de remaining 25 to Joseph and Akeem.

Coops you're wrong on this one buddy. When David Nakhid had a testimonial match it was in an International friendly vs South Africa (although he came out of retirement to play in the 2006 qualifiers) and when Russell Latapy had a testimonial in was in our last local warm-up match here in T&T before the 2006 World Cup (although he too later came out of retirement to play in the 2010 qualifiers). So based on precedent Testimonial matches have been traditionally International friendlies
Also, given that BOTH men quoted came out of retirement after their testimonial matches, chances are we may yet see Birchall play for T&T again ;D Carlos hasn't "officially" called it a day yet and I'm pretty sure if Russia 2018 campaign lookin good he will offer himself. PATRIOT out! Peace

We are promoting a home and away clash between T&T and Jamaica and the return leg is in Trini on Tuesday and no radio or tv feed? No linkup with a local broadcaster to promote and generate interest? We are not serious in this country about sport. It is a big joke. TTFF needs to step up or else what is the point? If you do not market and promote how will the youths be interested in keeping the flag flying high?

This game is being played in Jamaica so its down to them to provide at least a radio link and not us.

I am sure we will do much better than this in the return game in T&T on Tuesday regards at least live radio coverage being streamed over the internet.

Nice win, especially without Mitchell, Daniel, Hector, Plaza and Power. This match report should be very interesting.

Hard to believe a year ago our locals were at the level of St Vincent, and loosing to Antigua. Congrats to the players and staff, and well done to the TTFA for organizing these games!

I forgot about the match until Grimm had finished at 10:00 pm. Then I remembered and when to Futbol24 to check the score. Jamaica 0- T&T 1.
Nonchalantly, "Jamaica lose 1 nil." I told my girlfriend.
She shrugged, "Ehh!" Looking up from her ebook for a second. "Jamaica will win in T&T and all will be square."
"Yeah! You right." I put the laptop down on the table and sat down to watch another exciting episode of Person of Interest.

11. Was Peltier peltin' dong the R wing and the embarrassing dummy beats in midfield that de yardie eat
13. Was little 19 yr old yout' Rundell Winchester. He missed 2 scoring opportunities there: a header from Peltier's cross then a side footer from a left cross. Daiz life when yuh green on the international stage. He'll eventually get it right. Good to expose him now
10. Was Guerra playing cental mid and attacking
3. Was Hoyte in the first play who ran down the right wing and tried a left footer over the bar as a defender came in with a sliding blade.
14. Was Boucaud in defensive mid position.

Ok people ‘sup for Nov 19th. We kept a clean sheet for the game in Yard. Now iz time to explode in de Hasely, honour "Me mum" and “Los" with tactical substitutions at the right time and destroy the visitors till it makes  Reggaefan cry. Hope we have TV coverage and radio station coverage for this event. Bateau and Hoyte performed a well executed hit and run representing T&T well for the first downpayment and have returned to Belgium and England respectively. Now iz Mitchell's time. Put Cyrus on the wing to lock dong whoever is Jamdown's danger speedster- winger.  Would love to see Joevein and Guerra play at the same time but doh want to remove Cyrus on the left for Jones so I eh sure how to do it unless we bring Jovein inside to central mid at the expense of one of the defensive mids, risking turnovers and counterattacks with all dah dribbling he doses do.

                                                      K. Jones                    Rundell

Subs:   Birchall, Gonzalez (but for crowd-pleasing dramatic effect, Hart may sub on Carlos jus' like Me mum. If 3 subs allowed then play Carlos early to allow Joevin  and Caesar to get a sub run), Caesar,  supah-sub Joevin, Aubrey David,  Keeper John

Imagine if  Molino, Hyland, Hector, Primus, Bateau, Hoyte, Roberts, Glen, Power, Plaza, Julius James  were available  ….. Lord Faddah.

Keon Daniel could be reconsidered after a 4 game suspension, should he apologize, confirm satisfactory mental health, pay back the TTFA or other sponsor and pay his passage (early) for the next far-away international  ……… for 4 connecting flights ….. to Kazakhstan.

I'd have Jones at LB and focus balls down the left - if you have too defensive a LB  (isn't Cyrus a CB anyway?) then you really neuter yourself. Jones on the other hand has some wicked pace and flair and with Guerra would kill their right flank

A particular joy is growing in my Hart for this team and Peltier, Guerra, Boucaud, Molino, Hector, Hyland,  K. Daniel can be a force to bring real hurt to mid-fields everywhere! If we win de midfield battle; we win de game!  Ask Brasil and Spain!

To the Team, Kudos on the win fellas and great job by Kaptain KJ.

I believe we could win the return leg on the 19th but it will take a lot of discipline because JamRock will be coming to win!

Mr. Hart, I believe like the Special One, you possess an immense amount of talent in de belly and if used correctly; and with your seeming skill-set, this team could put plenty water in plenty people eyes Al La Belgium. Got to dream big to win big. Ask Steve Jobs! He sure played as a heavyweight for someone who didn't even know coding!

Edwards excited about return match.
T&T Express Reports.

Both the Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaican national teams are in town for tomorrow’s encounter on the final FIFA international matchday for 2013.

The two teams arrived in Port of Spain on Saturday night from Montego Bay and are based at the Capital Plaza hotel ahead of the match billed as the “Caribbean Classico”.

They will undergo their final training sessions at the Hasely Crawford Stadium this evening. Also in town is Ipswich Town midfielder Carlos Edwards and Port Vale midfielder Chris Birchall who will be appear in tomorrow’s match in an official sendoff, having retired from the international game earlier this year.

“It’s great to be back and to be appreciated by the Association and the country. I’m always excited to play before the home fans and even moreso after the boys pulled off the win on Friday,” Edwards told TTFA Media.

“I know for a fact Jamaicans hate losing and they will be coming very hard at us on Tuesday to even things up. I haven’t played much against them in the past but having been around our national team for so long, I know the rivalry is one of the biggest in football when you look at all the Confederations… so in saying that, there is definitely a lot at stake,” Edwards added.

Finland-based midfielder Ataullah Guerra, the scorer of T&T’s winner on Friday, believes T&T can reproduce their winning performance but wants the local fans to be part of it.

“It was a pleasure to score for my country. It’s been a while since we beat them in Jamaica so it was a great honour for me and the team,” Guerra added.

The former San Juan Jabloteh player noted though that even after the goal was scored, he did ask skipper Kenwyne Jones why he didn’t play the initial ball to him before the Stoke City forward went for goal.

“I was so anxious and I was looking for him to pass the ball to me but he was also in a good opportunity to shoot and I was in the right spot at the right time to follow up.”

“It was a tough match for us. We played to the coach’s instructions and to our strengths and we got the result we wanted. But this game on Tuesday will be much harder because we put ourselves in a position now where we have to show our commitment to maintain a winning performance. They knew we beat them at home and they will not come here to lie down. They will be fighting down to the final whistle,” Guerra added.

Also coming into the squad for tomorrow’s match is North East Stars player Trevin Caesar, while Sheldon Bateau and Justin Hoyte have returned to their clubs in Belgium and England.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago head coach Stephen Hart  praised his players for securing their 1-0 win over Jamaica in Montego Bay on Friday night.

Hart said the effort of the players was second to none, commending skipper Kenwyne Jones and his teammates for weathering the second half storm from the “Reggae Boyz” who went in desperate search of the equalizer.

“It was a game of two halves really. I thought we started really well and we played an exceptional first half. We created some good chances in the first half and we did a lot of things well,” Hart told TTFA Media.

“But we panicked a bit in the second half and gave the ball away. Jamaica were winning the ball and putting us under pressure and playing the ball forward quickly. We gave away a lot of set-plays and neutral people might say they deserved a goal.

But in the end, a creditable showing for us. We had a brand new back four who had never played together before and we came away with a clean sheet away from home,” Hart added.

“It was a very competitive game and this is what I’ve been asking of the players,” he ended.

Rome wasn't built in a day
By Ian Burnett (Jamaica Observer)

Rome was not built in a day.

That's the message of Jamaica's senior football team head coach, German Winfried Schafer, as he prepares his team for tomorrow's 8:00 pm kick-off for the second leg of a two-way friendly series of matches against Caribbean neighbours Trinidad and Tobago at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

"First of all team building is not a one-day or a two-day thing, team building is a process that could take some time, maybe one year," Schafer told the Jamaica Observer yesterday, prior to the team's scheduled training session at the match venue.

In Friday's game at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, Ataulla Guerra gave the visitors a fifth-minute lead which held up in the end.

Both team arrived here on Saturday night and are now resident at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Port of Spain.

The 18-man Reggae Boyz squad was taken through a light jog and stretching exercise yesterday morning at the Hasely Crawford Complex, under the watchful eyes of physical trainer Andre Waugh and Schafer.
But now the coach wants the development process to kick in earnestly.

"Now our new goal is to build a new team for the 2018 World Cup, but before we start the qualifications for that World Cup, there will be the Caribbean Cup, the Gold Cup and possibly the Confederation Cup from South America.

"To do that we have to watch our local players, and this is not against the players from England, but the local players must be the heart of the team. But we must understand that we cannot play without the best players from outside of Jamaica," Schafer stressed.

He cited the present Trinidad and Tobago team as an example, in which the twin-island republic has a number of European-based players mixed with locally-based players.

Schafer noted that the team needs leaders, three of four players who have the trust of the others, and players who will need support from the technical staff. "They will have to form the spine of the team," Schafer said.

Still, he lamented the short time to prepare teams, since he has been here, but he takes it in stride.

"This new team we have had only two days training, which is not enough. We played our last four games in the World Cup qualifiers against teams who were in the Gold Cup, where they played together for nearly a month, while our team came together only a few days before each game. This is not possible, but for me it is not important.

"What is important now is development. We had a meeting with the players this morning and we discussed the game, the mistakes and things that were not good. Mistakes are different from things that are crazy. I want them to make fewer mistakes the more games we play," he said.

In further explaining his point, the coach said if it were just to get a win, then he could put enough players behind the ball and probably hope for a goal from a set piece, but that was not the intention.

The intention is to try to play good, constructive football, the way it is to be played. He's also willing to give the players the freedom to express themselves, and hopefully minimize on past mistakes.

"Probably you will see different players the next time we play, because though I'm prepared to give players the chance to prove themselves, if they don't show that they are capable of learning from their mistakes, then they will not be in the list going forward."

Squad: Richard McCullam, Gariece McPherson, Je-Vaughn Watson, Dicoy Williams, Montrose Phinn, Alvas Powell, Darren Mattocks, Omar Daley, Deshorn Brown, Jermaine Anderson, Kemar Lawrence, Michael Seaton, Jason Johnson, Jermaine Woozencraft, Andrew Vanzie, Adrian Reid, Brian Brown, Upston Edwards.

                                                                        Jan-Michael

                                                     Radanfah                           Mitchell
                             Carlos (Gonzalez)                                                          Cyrus

                                   K. George (Birchall)                            Boucaud (Theobald)

                     Peltier  (Caesar)                                                                    Guerra  (Joevin)

Keon Daniel could be reconsidered after a 4 game suspension, should he apologize, confirm satisfactory mental health, pay back the TTFA or other sponsor and pay his passage (early) for the next far-away international  ……… for 4 connecting flights ….. to Kazakhstan.

keon finished....

i wouldn't waste guerra on the left wing, playing behind KJ is the best thing for him.. i still feel lester should play the left winger with boucard on the right, drop guerra in the center...

for this coming game, carlos will do fine on the right wing, or right back, so i guess it depends, that formation can change drastically

Great win for the boys, in five months our football on the pitch has improved, long may it continue.
Should Stephen Hart be credited for this positive trend?

Absolutely along with the players for being able to take on the challenge and the TTFA for the improved commitment.

This is not the time where you may find the team exploding and winning by big margins, as the coach said this is a period for building and experimenting.

The exploding will come when WCQ starts for 2018!

This is so necessary to rebuild our old faithful's and get them behind the team again, sell shirts, buy tickets for the games as well as travel to see them play. Slowly, keeping clean sheets, drawing games we should lose and winning games we should win will get us there.

Have to give Hart a lot of credit for shaping this team and winning the affection, trust and discipline of the players. Maybe it's too soon to pile on the praises because where we were to where we are isn't really significantly awarding in terms of us been a powerhouse, however, it does give us hope that we have something to look forward to for the future.

I am not sure if ustream auto saves it or not. I know twitch.tv does because I use it a lot.

from my recollection of ustream it saves the video files locally (on ur pc).

Anyway from my experience streaming, I strongly recommend using open broadcaster, because it's free, also it's not really a resource hog and its much faster than any other software/better quality.
Link for OB: http://obsproject.com/
And just make a twitch.tv account (it works really well @ 1020p)

I don't like livestream software.. its really buggie.. xsplit kinda sucking these days as well.

If SWO needs help (configuring etc) let me know(there is also a 64bit version that is recommended).

Congrats to the team. Finally TT football is going in the direction many of us want. The win over JA was long over due.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves. The JA team was a make shift experimental team.  Their European based players were not present. and 5 or 6 MLS boys were present. The truth is that JA has more depth than TT at the moment. I believe they can fill all eleven spots with European based players if they wanted to. But whether that will work for them is another story. My point is that the real test for TT will come when JA finds the right mixture of local and foreign based. TT is ahead of them in this area..

I calling this now for tomorrow TT 2 - 1 JA.

Age doesn't matter for Michael Seaton
By Ian Burnett (Jamaica Observer)

He's only 17 and a half year old, but stands at 6'1" and tips the scales at 186 lb. He's confident, self-assertive even, fearless, yet fully prepared to put in a shift for his team.

He's DC United's striker Michael Seaton, who debuted for Jamaica's senior Reggae Boyz in last Friday's 0-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The rookie entered the field at the start of the second-half alongside Montego Bay United's midfielder Jermaine Woozencraft, and the duo proceeded to inject new life into the home side's play as the Boyz rallied to tip the balance back into their favour, though the equalising goal never materialised.

The coaching staff was pleasantly surprised with Seaton's 45-minute display.

"I was quite impressed with him, seeing him from the Under-17s, he has never impressed me at that level, but one thing, he has grown and he has matured, seemingly, he came on and did extremely well," enthused Vin Blaine, assistant head coach of the Reggae Boyz.

"He showed composure on the ball, he showed maturity, his movement off the ball, I think, had changed the game up top. You could see that there was some mobility up front that we were not getting in the first half, so with that in mind I'm really impressed with him now," added Blaine, who noted that at times during the game Seaton's play belied his tender age.

Added Blaine: "Definitely he is one for the future and he wants to play for Jamaica. What I also liked about him was that he was enjoying his game, he wasn't intimidated by the fact that he was playing against people who were much older than him, and for a moment I lost the fact that he was only 17, but he looked great.

"I think the coach was pleasantly surprised by his play and his inclusion was based on how well he performed in training; there was just something about him in training the day before that piqued the coach's interest and he brought him in over more experienced players and I think that augurs well for him in the future."

For Seaton, who migrated to the United States of America almost 10 years ago, this has been a meteoric start to his professional career.

He started the season at DC United in Major League Soccer, was lent out to Richmond Kickers in the lower USL, and before he knew it, he's been drafted into the national senior team. But he's not complaining.

"It was great," he told the Jamaica Observer with a childish laugh yesterday.

"Coach said to me that in the second half I was going to go in, but going in was not overwhelming because I wasn't nervous like I usually am. I felt good and my first touch was positive, that's the main thing when I go in a game, if the first touch is good, then overall your game is going to be good, and every time I touched the ball I never lost it, so I felt good," he reflected.

Seaton has admitted that head coach Winfried Schafer is yet to review his game in a one-on-one situation, but he revealed that he has had encouraging words from the other members of the technical staff.

Throughout the interview Seaton's joy at his senior debut was evident, but he has claimed that his mother, Kamone Lee Henry, enjoyed it even more.

"I enjoyed it, but my mom enjoyed it even more than me," he said. "She called me right after the game and my grandmother was there and they told me I played great and that people behind them in the stands were saying who's that, he's a baller and things like that, so that was good."

The player also noted that he was surprised when his mother got a telephone call from team manager Roy Simpson that he was invited to the national team for the two friendly games.

Seaton was a member of the Jamaica Under-17 team which failed to qualify for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup during the CONCACAF Championship in Panama earlier this year.

But he is more than happy with his first season as a professional, even if it didn't start as well as he would have liked.

"I am a forward so they (DC team management) expect that if I can't turn and dribble a guy, then hold the ball up and that's what I lacked at pre-season because I'm not going to lie, because every time I touched the ball in pre-season I was on my face on the ground, but now I'm putting people on the ground, so it is a lot of change.

"I didn't get significant playing time at DC United, I got one 90-minute game, but not much after that. You have to give a young player a lot of minutes for him to go in there and shine, but they lent me out to Richmond Kickers in the USL where I played well, scored a number of goals (five in 10 matches). I know I could have scored a lot more goals, but it comes with development and learning the game.

"Next year I know I can go up to 10 goals easily because I hit the post a couple of times and the goalkeepers made some incredible saves."

The player, who patterns himself off Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luiz Suarez, is hopeful of returning to DC United for preseason training and proving himself good enough to earn a place in the first team.

"I'm gonna go in preseason in Indonesia with the team and I'm going to show them that I should be starting, not the first string forward, not the second string forward, I want to be the top forward and that's what I'm going to show them," he pledged.

Winning isn't everything!
By Ian Burnett (Jamaica Observer)

Schafer desires improved performance from Boyz in T&T rematch

Jamaica's Reggae Boyz and Trinidad's Soca Warriors will conclude their two-game friendly international series dubbed 'Caribbean Clasico' at the Hasely Crawford Stadium here at 8:00 pm (7:00 pm Jamaica time) today.

The hosts won the first leg 1-0 last Friday at the Montego Bay Sports Complex courtesy of a fifth-minute strike by Finnish-based player Ataulla Guerra. It marked the first victory for the twin-isle republic away to Jamaica since 1949 and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) is revelling in breaking the jinx.

At a pre-game press conference mid-afternoon at Trotters Restaurant yesterday, Sheldon Phillips, general secretary of the TTFA, noted that today's game will take on "heightened significance" with Trinidad and Tobago achieving that.

"We are certainly pleased to host our friends and we believe our key partners in the rise of Caribbean football. These are exciting times for our region and our fans will have the chance to witness both teams begin their march to 2018."

Phillips further noted that this match carries added significance, as it will serve as an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and thank Chris Birchall, the Port Vale player, who earlier in his international career became a fan favourite, and with his goal against Bahrain, which helped Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany, became a legend.

The TTFA will also use the game to acknowledge the contributions of Carlos Edwards, the Ipswich Town player, who will not be retiring from international football, but will be honoured for his service to the TTFA, in this the 14th and final international for 2013.

For Jamaica's German head coach Winfried Schafer, the main plan is for his team to show improvement from last Friday's offering.

"The result is not very important, it is secondary, what is important is the players, the development of the players... I want to see tomorrow (today) that they learn from the last match and that they minimise their mistakes," he said.

He added that he was happy for these two games as they provide the local-based players and those in the US Major League Soccer with experience.

"The first 15 minutes there were mistakes as the players were nervous and Trinidad had some chances," Schafer added. "We spoke at half time and in the second half we played very well, but our problem, as in the qualifiers, is that we don't have enough players to score goals."

Schafer said that he told journalists in Jamaica that everybody should give support to the players, even when they make mistakes, as that is the only way they can develop and the team progress.

And with that in mind the coach appears set to wring the changes for today's game, if yesterday's final training session outside the Hasely Crawford Stadium, but within the complex, is anything to go by.
In his walk through of the team there appears to be five changes from the starting XI from last Friday. Richard McCallum remains in goal, guarded by Upson Edwards and Alvas Powell in central defence, flanked by Kemar Lawrence on the left and Adrian Reid on the right.

Captain Je-Vaughn Watson and Jermaine Woozencraft, the busybody central midfielder who clearly earned the right after impressing in last Friday's game, will anchor the midfield with Omar Daley and Jason Johnson on the flanks. Teenager Michael Seaton looks set to make his first start, alongside Deshorn Brown.

For the homeside, coach Stephen Hart said he would continue to experiment with the squad.

"This is a unique opportunity for us to play two matches home and away as I said when the game was announced. It sort of mirrors what is necessary if you are trying to qualify and I would like to thank the Jamaica Football Federation for working in co-ordination with us to provide this opportunity," he said yesterday.

"It also gives me an opportunity to continue to experiment with the team, with players, to mix and match and evaluate players by seeing them in international competition, and though this game is billed as a friendly, the spirit in which it was played in Jamaica was excellent but very competitive, and in order to raise standards that is necessary."

There is no question that the home side will be strengthened by the addition of Edwards and Birchall, and with captain Kenwyne Jones also available, but Scharfer's main desire in this rebuilding phase is to see his team serve up an improved showing, final result aside.

Jamaica's squad: Richard McCullam, Gariece McPherson, Je-Vaughn Watson, Dicoy Williams, Montrose Phinn, Alvas Powell, Darren Mattocks, Omar Daley, Deshorn Brown, Jermaine Anderson, Kemar Lawrence, Michael Seaton, Jason Johnson, Jermaine Woozencraft, Andrew Vanzie, Adrian Reid, Brian Brown, Upston Edwards.

'My Biggest Achievement' - Leading Jamaica Gives Watson Great Pride Midfielder Hopes Team Will Turn Tables On T&T
By Ryon Jones (Jamaica Gleaner)

Je-Vaughn Watson was left disappointed after his first match as captain of the country's senior men's football team ended in defeat. They were clipped 1-0 by Trinidad and Tobago at the Montego Sports Complex, Catherine Hall, St James, on Friday night.

"It was a wonderful feeling and a beautiful achievement, but unfortunately, we didn't come away with a result," Watson shared. "A win or a draw would have been better for the first time."

Ataulla Guerra scored the game's lone goal in the fifth minute and the Jamaicans were unable to find an equaliser.

"As the Captain (Horace Burrell) said, 'we are in the rebuilding process,' but that is no excuse for us to lose to Trinidad," reasoned the 30-year-old midfielder.

"This was more than a game, it was a rivalry match. So it is not just about playing football, it takes heart and courage to win this game."

The 22-man squad for the match consisted mainly of local-based players, including schoolboys Isamnia Cohen of Manchester High and Khesanio Hall of St Elizabeth Technical. Only seven United States-based players were invited, and Watson believes this is the correct approach during this rebuilding phase.

"I think the federation is pushing in the right direction by using a lot of local-based players to give them the experience," Watson said. "Coming from Jamaica, I play with a lot of heart and guts, and I think that's what we need to push towards the next World Cup."

STAND BY TEAM

The former Sporting Central Academy player, who is currently plying his trade for FC Dallas in Major League Soccer, is asking the Jamaican public to stand by the team despite their disappointment after a failed World Cup campaign.

"We know we didn't play well in the qualifiers and we know that people are still upset about it, but we still need the support of the fans."

Watson plans to start the process of getting back the fans on the team's side with a win over Trinidad and Tobago in tonight's return match.

"We have to go out there and win this game because they came here and won," Watson said. "It is not easy to go overseas and win, but we think we are better than this Trinidad team by two goals."

The game was the 30th for Watson representing the Reggae Boyz and despite having played in World Cup qualifiers, Gold Cup and Caribbean Football Union Championships, he deemed Friday's match to be one of his best moments in football.

"The coach came to me and asked, 'Do you want to lead the team'? And I said 'sure', without hesitation," Watson related.

"Not a lot of players get to play for the national team, let alone to captain the team. So I think this is one of my biggest achievements in football."

Maybe we can set up a channel that is password protected to where only SWO viewers can participate in the coverage?
I understand how the media rights works but if it's for personal viewers then it's different. Let me know I can make it happen.

I do have my own channel and the equipment as well, all I need is the source. Pm me if anything.

I will be happy if we can win this game without conceding.
A 1-0 or 2-0 T&T victory will do a lot to shut the arrogant Jamaicans up but if the Jamaicans bring their A game and we don't score our chances then I'll settle for a 0-0 draw.

Would be nice if both Carlos and Birchall can get on the score sheet! :chilling:

I know the foreign based will appreciate the tv broadcast but this does nothing for the match day crowd. Everybody i've spoken to say they staying home and watch it. And while most of them were not die hard in the first place, i feel the broadcasting of matches this close to the kick off will work against getting the stadium crowd support the team needs.

Anyways all the best to the boys, i heading down in the Crawfie now.

Blessings.

Well done Warriors. Big achievement
Each win helps to create more self belief, more momentum, more fans coming back
Each talent like Guerra who scores creates options for BraveHart knowing that Molino is right there waiting to wear the #10 juzzy too.
New strikers for the future like Winchester being developed.
Defenders becoming stalwarts. Notice the trend in clean sheets. Very good sign. Note Clint Marcelle referring to Cyrus as a fortress.
Everybody got a good run .... Birchall got a good send off after reminding the crowd what his right foot rockets look like.
Carlos was there too and that was nice. Good appreciation for him
Overall a sweet result. Hard luck Yardies.

Remember this win achieved with no Molino, Hyland, Hoyte, Hector, Primus, Roberts, Glen, Bateau, Power, Julius, Keon Daniel.
Very encouragingly deep squad.

Remember we winning without

Birchie called time on his international career but tonight he showed that he can still play at a high level and his work rate will always be his shining light. Nice pre game gesture to him by the FA as well.

People sometimes question the relevance of a sporting administration to results on the field. This new FA is by no means perfect but they are trying to do things the right way and I want to publicly commend them on their progress.

Shotta in hiding tonight. He en see Rundell performance on d wings, good to see FOUR Tobago players on this team as well and getting game time  :beermug: :beermug:.... Well done to the team more of the same next year  ;D

Didn't get to see the full match sadly, but, I had the pleasure of listening to Mr.Corneal casting  :banginghead: however grateful some things he said was a bit harsh/unprofessional to say the least. No need for that, he, Birchall will always be remembered as a hero, because that's what he is to many of us.

Not to discount Winchester, most of us want to see our favorite players on the field, still haven't seen him play yet but I've watched Plaza, and it's easy on the eyes, with him in the squad you know tnt going down fighting. Winchester is young, tonite he won us a penalty and the team won us the game, as a fan it is encouraging to see positive results, it's the motivating factor when it comes to buying shirts and attending games, lets face it, no one wants to wear a losing teams shirt or watch your team losing.. esp with your company for eg. your family. it's really emotional when that happens but winning.. well it feels good doesn't it?

Never said I don't like the kid, but his introduction to the game was the main issue. Introducing a player is important, I am no head coach but I've watched the best, and the best usually introduce them after the game is secured rather than starting. I think the reason for this is so that the player don't feel he is already part of the squad but filling in the place of his departing teammate. It's also important to see what the player adds to the team currently a goal ahead. There is more... just busy atm.

The real question will happen when Plaza is fit, will it be fair to develop against a proven seasoned player, depends on the tactics.. ya, the coaches decision too, it's ok to express an opinion.

Birch.. will miss the guy, he made the team colorful..

Congrats warriors, coaching staff and management. Well done!

Now...all this love for Birchy is well deserved but wha bout Carlos who, no disrespect to Birchy, has done yeoman service for T&T and will go down as one of our best EVER footballers. No love for Carlos?  Isnt it his final appearance for T&T as well?

What I liked about the performance is that while Jamaica were ordinary we just got on with the job and played to the game plan. We ensured that we took care of business and didn't give them any serious oportunities except for a freekick that Williams pushed around the post for a corner and a couple of blocked shots. My hope is that for Digicel Cup, when points are up for grabs, that we can reproduced. I wouldn't call it a polished performance, but it was a good one.

Carlos has not retired from international football. His appearances for T&T will be dependent on the coach selecting him.

So why was the game promoted as an opportunity for locals and to show appreciation for BOTH Carlos and Birchy?

Why did coach Hart in his interview after the first match in Jamaica say the 2nd match in Trini is an opportunity to say goodbye to Carlos and Birchy as they're "getting long in the tooth"?

And did Carlos himself not say he returning from international football just recently?

But my bad. Misunderstanding in my part as I get tie up with the appreciation for both Carlos and Birchy.

Not trying to get over excited but I like what's going on. Apart from collecting a few crosses and mishit passes Jan was forced to make a save once in the whole game., and that was on a freekick during stoppage time. Against NZ and last night the team maintained the shape very well, and defended as a team. Against NZ we maintained possession well but in this game we were more positive . The team has a lot of pace in it Winchester, Peltier, Joevin Jones , Guerra with a nice change of pace too.

I saw someone comment about the football public not liking KJ . I'm one of them, he too old to not be able to trap and pass quickly and consistently. He actually didn't play his typical lazy man football but I figure he wanted to get back at the Jamaicans for a few rough tackles. He plays better angry it seems.

Guerra is just a player any Trinidadian would like, intelligence and flair. There's something different about him though. He presses more and fights for the ball in the air . He had a really solid game and lethal in the second half. You get the distinct impression that he can turn it on at will create something.

When Denzil came on there was a instant change in the mentality of the team. It was an instance that explained why he's been selected so many time. That man could jooks a football. Denzil came on brand shifted up a notch and rubbed the defeat in the eyes of the Yardies . We gave them the Ole treatment towards the end.

Stamp up these Jamaicans passport and tell dem thanks for coming allyuh reach home safe eh. T&T 2 - Jamaica 0 . I'm not trying to be gracious in victory at all I really just to beat them.

Side note:
The marketing for this game was absolutely absent and the ticket is not attractive. The tickets should be $40 to get people in the stands . They should look to generate revenue through tv , sponsorship and merchandising and not through gate receipts . All they doing is killing the loyal customer. It was nice to see the kits being sold outside the stadium but still not in stores which is disappointing for me. The next thing is which kit we actually playing in. So far we have used 3 joma designs on the field since July .

Usually don't chime in on post match reports and analysis, but felt compelled after the game last night.

Its either Hart is a hell of a coach, or TT has more talent than I give us credit for. Isn't last night's squad supposed to be an 'understrength' team?

Though they made mistakes here and there, and we have to take into consideration JA's team was allegedly understrength as well, I think the team did extremely well.

Haven't seen a TT team keep shape like that since Leo.

Boucaud is my type of player. Simple, neat and keeps the ball moving. His positioning was very intelligent last night.

Guerra is a lovely #10. Not shy to shoot or take players on, and he is no coward defensively either.

Dis Winchester boy.....he's 19 I hear. In two years, after he improves his crossing and decision making,  he'll be real trouble. Love his speed and confidence. Who found him?

Over the past 3/4 games I find myself warming to KJ. His control is still poor, finishing still weak, but his link up play seems to have improved a lot. He really is a handful for defences and creates space for his teammates.

Abu Bakr like he came out to give Hart a selection headache. He wasn't playing in the back. Strong in the tackle and generally looked solid.

Ahhh Carlos.....thanks alot for the service, but you didn't look good at all last night. Hope it was just last night, but age has a way it catches up to all of us.

Seeing good things if we continue in this vein.

Should be dominating the Caribbean again soon....then we'll see what we can do in Concacaf

We got a whisper that there were a couple of boys from Tobago setting the Super League alight. Both Stokely Vale and Phoenix were tearing up Pro League teams in the F.A. Trophy so we checked them in action.
Sancho went over to talk to Winchester's family. His cousin is Daneil Cyrus. The other player was Darren Mitchell.

For those who were asking, the recorded videos of the pre-match, half time and post game analysis by the SWO Media team are available on the SWO Live Media Channel (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/swo-live-media-channel)

In the pre-game we were joined by forumite Brian "Patriot" Springer but unfortunately about 10 minutes of that segment leading up to the game was not recorded.

There are still some issues to clean up with the stream, audio quality and background noise but hopefully we should be able to make some more strides by the time the next fixture comes around.

The idea men throwing out would be an excellent one, maybe at half time of one of these games the FA could use the opportunity to acknowledge these men like stern, brian williams, peck, pamo, sancho, Sid gray etc. these men still here, in fact - they all still taking a "juck" on the fete match circuit throughout the country - and still like to win as ever :-)

Not much benefit in T&T playing and beating Guyana right now as they are currently 114 in the FIFA Rankings which is way below our 81 rank and our ranking should improve when the new table comes out at the end of November.

I think our next four regional opponents we should seek to play friendlies against are Haiti, Cuba, Panama and Venezuela who are all ranked higher than us in the FIFA Rankings and should give us difficult tests both at home and away in their territory.

Don't see the point of playing Guyana right now unless its in a competition like the Caribbean Cup.

There are only 8 teams higher than us in the rankings. In reverse order;

Haiti (80)
Dominican Republic(78)
Cuba (74)
Panama (36)
Honduras (34)
Costa Rica (31)
Mexico (24)
United States (13)

Set up the USA game! :p. From a cynical perspective there are a couple teams over-ranked that would help us; Switzerland (7), Bosnia-Hertzegovina (16), Armenia (38), Cape Verde islands (42). If we had the money a match against any of these would be excellent (a draw against Switzerland would give us a lot of points).

To be honest we'll move up a hella lot - the two wins against Jamaica are worth double the points we got in the whole of last year.

Not too sure about that because Jamaica is currently ranked one place below T&T in the FIFA Rankings and you don't gain as many points in friendlies as you do in an official FIFA recognized International competitions.

Also because our Association is struck for cash and staff are still owed salaries, I think it is more realistic (less expensive) for us to play countries in our own region for now than to play countries in Europe and theses other regions unless they are willing to help sponsor the trip to host T&T in their country.

For now I think we should concentrate on playing countries in our region like Haiti, Cuba, Panama & Venezuela.
Teams like Mexico and USA we can play once we have moved into the top 40 in the FIFA Rankings after more positive results and they can actually see the benefit of testing themselves against T&T.
While our FIFA ranking is outside of the top 40 I don't think either the USA or Mexico will be that interested in playing T&T in a friendly or outside of a tournament.

Also we can probably play a friendly against Canada as Mr Hart might enjoy proving a point or maybe not since he spent so much of his career grooming Canadians players and teams.

Okay cool, that was probably due to not playing many games and not getting enough positive results in the ones we played before SH got on board.

Trust me I ain't saying they're easy - but there are clearly more than 7 teams better than Switzerland and more than 42 teams better than Cape Verde in my opinion, making them "over ranked" in a strict sense. I mean Cape Verde are ranked higher than Japan (44), Egypt (51), Korea (56), Australia (57), and Israel (66)

Everybody talkin bout how great things are going right now..I hope this can continue into the future. I sincerely hope that we can beat Jamaica when it matters. We always seem to be able to beat important teams in unimportant games. We haven't been able to dominate Jamaica when we really need to i.e a world cup qualifier..even with our best players. I can see improvement since Hart has taken over. He has been able to bring organization and confidence back. This, however is not nearly enough to get us to a world cup. The way forward is for the Technical Director or the Director of Football sit down with all the National Coaches and plan the way forward. There is a lot of work to be done..if we had to prepare for world cup qualifiers starting after the WC, going along  the same way we are going right now, we would fall short. We are in stop gap mode. I know this the because the youth program is no program at all.
I made a point about the game i.e I pointed out that the Jamaicans offered little or no pressure on top neither in the midfield..the result was censorship..why not just ban me so that I can't post anything anymore.

Money talks. There's a reason brazil plays a relatively large number of games abroad/in America. Even if we pulled the big guns and filled a 20000 stadium, you'd need to charge 100/200 TT to make a return at that attendance whilst still paying them off

Simple Mr Cooper TT will lose our shirt. I read where it cost about 1 mil US (appearance fee)  for those teams, plus all expenses for a party of 35 people. All expenses is, First class travel, 5 star hotel, meals  and all ground transportation. To make that back and just break even you would have to charge over 300 us a ticket.

Just my quriousity, what's the problem with us getting one of the top dogs in world Football to come to our country for a friendly game,  i'm talking about Brazil,Germany,Holland,Argentina,Italy etc etc ah know JW out smart England and got them to come here but is that something the TTFA has on the burner?

Simple Mr Cooper TT will lose our shirt. I read where it cost about 1 mil US (appearance fee)  for those teams, plus all expenses for a party of 35 people. All expenses is, First class travel, 5 star hotel, meals  and all ground transportation. To make that back and just break even you would have to charge over 300 us a ticket.
OK got that, now what about us going there to play them, never mind i guess it's the same thing  ;D

we don't need to spend that type of money to play those teams.. instead of brazil we can play a team like ecuador or venezuala and get a great game and practice out of it or play a team like finland or denmark instead of holland, or play a team like poland instead of germany or romania.. that fits our budget and will give us the right prep... spending money playing brazil proves nothing, unless we qualified for 2018... then yea lets get the big friendlies of that caliber..

There are only 8 teams higher than us in the rankings. In reverse order;

I'm not entirely sure how you came up with the above mentioned teams being over-ranked but Switzerland and Cape Verde are excellent teams. If TnT were to come away with a victory over either of these, we would have accomplished much.

Not to belabor this topic, but Cape Verde is very good. They took down some big teams in the last ACN. Youtube them.

This rankings system is creating commesse. If we follow the football conventional wisdom of only playing top rank teams, then we will not play any football at all.  Where is the sense of sportmanship and fairness. Why can;t TT play Germany a good game with the Germans having to worry about ther friggin' rankings. This is total bull.

Cape Verde would be a decent team to play. They have been around a while. They just start doing what other countries do. Use players whose parents are from CV. Lots of Portuguese and possible US born players. That is why their standards have jumped a couple notches. The country to watch out for in the furure is Equatorial Guinea. They have lots of petro dollars and doing a whole lot of development. Unfortunately they have a strongman PM. But the Chinese built some stadiums for them recently. They came also use immigrants from Spain to play for them. They were a former Spanish colony.

Totally agree - the rankings create a perverse disincentive to playing teams poorly ranked. Imagine if one of the ABCS suddenly shot up in the rankings - they'd probably pull out of the ABCS tournament to preserve their rankings... They should really be at least cumulative, or more sensibly just drop the worst one or two points-scoring games from the calculation

Hear nah I post dis ting to show how allyuh going around in circles..allyuh happy about de Panama friendly but what long term planning has been put in place for the improvement of the football.

We going into a friendly...what kind of preparation is being put in with a nucleus of players?

Are we going to continue with this style of team selection patterned after the developed world which is so rich in the abundance of quality players?

This method of selection and preparation will only produce mediocre results..

This National coach takes the safe road...he takes no chances with his career...he has the formula on mediocrity..

He knows how to field a team that performs creditably...

There is no way anybody can keep doing the same exact thing ..it doesn't matter how many times ..and expect a different result each time.
