Just for discussion sake what are your thoughts.
-
the only one to win anything of value....the concacaf club championship
Defence Force.
Every era had big side, malvern, maple, trintoc etc.
Right now is W and Jabloteh.
-
I have to agree, definitely Defence Force or as they were called in the old day's.... Regiment, (I think they were called that :'() they have always been competitive and are T&T's most successful team by a mile.
Meh 2nd place teams would be Trintoc and ASL. Police had a good few years in the late 80's early 90's as well.
The yardstick has to be success in regional competitions and against foreign opposition and these four had that.
Jabloteh been around for ah long time but with only recent success and W Connection aint got no history AT ALL!!!
-
Defence Force fuh trute...back in de 70's & 80's. A T&T football Dynasty
Honourable mention
St Benedicts.... ;D LOL...not a T&T club team but in dem time, coulda beat T&T top club teams and possibly even de National team.
Malvern back in de 60's
Point Fortin Civic Centre back in de 70's
Trintoc in de early 80's when dey had Latas & Leonson and dem
Hurricanes.... ;D ah had to trow dat een fuh meh padnah..after all...Peter Mitchell is de bess footballer to come outta T&T..ent??? ;D

Cannot judge Team based on Club championship on Intl. level as there wasn't much if any of that to judge in the earlier years. Yet I do agree with the Regiment/Defence force...though it must be understood, that this was the only National Club for many years...by National I mean. Players were from all over the country...All other teams were basically community teams based on geography...Other teams like Casuals & Shamrock, were community teams based on ethnics...etc..
"DForce" recruited form everywhere

Defense Force by A mile. They were by far he best club side in the Caribbean
-
I don't think that it is fair to compare teams like Defence Force, Trintoc and Police to Malvern and others because Defence Force and company were practically Semi-pro outfits competing with amateurs.
My vote would go for Malvern if we are comparing only community club teams.
-
Kenny well know the Army and Police was pro teams playing in an Amateur League ;D Right Kenny!!!
All said they were the bosses. Malvern in their time was also a team to be respected. Civic was also up there with them. Then ASL came along and ruled for a while even though San Fernando Strikers put it to them in PSA ;D
Kenny will know all about Peter Mitchell as a matter of fact anyone from the era would ;D
-
still dem was de best club team regardless.
-
ASL all the way.
-
If you look at teams in T&T present or past though they were community based a lot of their players were not from those communities, all of Malvern came from the East and they were based in Woodbrook,i can call a number of players from various clubs and they were not from those areas,Maple,Colts,Paragon etc. It's just the discipline and organization that made the Defence Force what they are, they set standards, what clubs are trying to do know is what Defence Force started years ago.
-
What about ECM Motown in 70s
-
DForce
-
ASL without a doubt. Defence Force after dat. Malvern before dem. Now Connection.
-
asl had some wicked teams army also for consistency have to go with defence force
