Express, I agree wid allyuh yes. It's entirely unreasonable to settle on one site for the draw.

Perhaps someone could fill us in on how Jabloteh's prep is progressing?

Match Day #2: San Juan Jabloteh (T&T) vs HVFC
hvfc.net
Losing badly in the opener put us squarely up against the proverbial eight ball; Trinidad’s San Juan Jabloteh defeated Nicaragua’s Real Estrie 2-1 to be well placed at second. Earlier today, the Nicaraguans lost again 4-0 to the Mexicans, who now qualify to the next round, the quarterfinals; Nicaragua is already eliminated with two losses.
We started our game brightly, scoring in the 8th minute as striker Demarco Thorne struck at the near post to give us an early 1-0 lead. Our refocused team unit continued to probe and penetrate all over, as Kellijah Morgan burst down the left flank twice to bring out desperate tackles, a corner, and clearance before he evaded Jabloteh once again to lob the goalkeeper but the ball rested on the roof of the net. Thorne kept driving goal-ward, and his next effort got pass the goalkeeper but unfortunately the post to be cleared. Skipper Rojaughn Joseph’s shot was blocked, and his header from Delroy Jones’ delivery was sent wide of the far post. SJJ sent long passes and delivered good dead balls from deep, and one such glanced off of the head of a forward to score and equalize in minute 25. The excitement continued but score remained unchanged to keep it at 1-1 at halftime.
Both technical teams must have expressed the importance of a victory upon their units as they went all out looking to win. Our short, snappy passes aimed to penetrate and lead, while SJJ added a defender to the lineup and sent more long, searching missiles. We again dominated possession, Kellijah Morgan was on top of his game to lead the team. He broke through the blockade to kick twice, but the first was saved at the near post and the second chipped delicately onto the far upright then scrambled away for a corner. Thorne, his strike-partner, penetrated the other side but the tall goalkeeper stood between them. Tyrese Williams’ excellent defensive role converted into his more natural attacking plays with passes, crosses and squares.
SJJ tried launching sporadic attacks with long-range shots which were handled capably by our alert goalkeeper, Anthony Bennett.
With 3 minutes left on the clock, our Man-of-the-Match, Kellijah Morgan, switched sides to penetrate and cross to the streaking Tyrese Williams at the back post. 9 yards out, Tyrese miskicked as the ball hit on his left foot to roll comfortably to SJJ’s grateful goalkeeper, who must’ve given up all hope to save what looked to be a threatening ball. Opportunities were missed, but the 100% effort of our boys must be admired to rebound quickly from yesterday’s loss. We played positively to dominate the entire game, a game we should’ve won, but a final 1-1 draw may not be enough.
To improve our position to advance today we had to beat SJJ today, and get more points tomorrow. To advance, we have one last chance to win handsomely tomorrow, and hope that the Mexicans keep their winning record to defeat SJJ so we may get a superior goal difference to secure the second spot in our group. We gear up to go for the victory.
-
Now trailing 2-1. We fouled a player to the left edge of the penalty area and conceded off the free kick.
-
3-1. Lack of pressure on the ball up top. Shot left our keeper rooted to the ground.

Most important: Jabloteh move to the next round. The altitude has been a challenge for the boys. Word is Buhos would have faced a different reality at sea level. Also told that despite the better results in the previous matches, this match has been the best performance thus far.

Everyone here is raving about a couple players from the Impact.

Despite a 3-1 loss to Mexico’s Búhos de Hermosillo, San Juan Jabloteh has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF U-13 Champions League. They will face Guatemala’s Comunicaciones FC on Wednesday, July 27th.

There are 16 teams in the tournament, not 12. A fourth group was added since Flex made that post in April. Originally, the tournament was supposed to feature three groups of four.
The group with the Impact is comprised of Herediano from Costa Rica, Ahuachapan from El Salvador, and Instituto Cedrus, a Mexican team.
I saw the Whitecaps play, but have not seen the Impact. The Whitecaps have a player (#13) who was also brought to my attention, but call me cynical ... he's also a tad more physically built than some of the other players. However, he managed to get Tijuana's keeper ejected courtesy a run he made to the edge of the box. Keeper brought him down.
Sporting KC was warming up when I left. They were about to face Chorillo from Panama (who also had "small" players). I'm very curious about how the MLS squads will perform.
One clear difference: the Mexican squads have family support present, same with the US and Canadian teams. Not sure how much support the Central American squads have, but we definitely have NO fan-based entourage.
-
Great job Jabloteh! Great experience for the players....
-
Almost all T&T's best youth teams going back to the time of Latapy seem to all had one thing in common....They either played together at a relatively young age, or they were formed around a team with an early start, e.g. the 2007 WC team as U-15s in the Dallas cup, and the 2010 U-15 team that played in the Copa in Argentina that formed the nucleus of the U-20 Caribbean champions that almost qualified for the 2017 WC .
It seems that consistently preparing for and playing competitive games at the earliest age groups is a predictive factor in our success, or lack thereof.
-
I would say more this.
It seems that consistently preparing for and playing competitive games at the earliest age groups is a predictive factor in our success, or lack thereof.
Remember when SH was asked what he/the team needed most he replied "games". Also reflected in the fact that we tend to play better in the 2nd game of a 2-game window.

Jabloteh youths reach CONCACAF U-13 Champions League quarterfinals
By Ian Prescott (T&T Express)
SAN JUAN JABLOTEH have defied the odds and have advanced to the quarter-final stage in their first try at the Scotiabank CONCACAF Under-13 Champions League.
Jabloteh next go into action tomorrow against the winners of a fiercely contested Group B which contained Menor Tijuana (Mexico), Comunicaciones FC (Guatemala) , Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (Costa Rica) and the already eliminated Vancouver Whitecaps (Canada) who lost their first two matches by 2-0 margins to Comunicaciones FC and Alajuelense.
Yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago youth football champions lost a Group A top-of-the-table decider 3-1 to group favourites Buhos de Hermosillo in Mexico where the tournament, is being held but advanced as the second-placed team in the group.
Jabloteh opened the tournament on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Real Esteli of Nicaragua, before holding Jamaica's Harbour View to a 1-1 draw.
Harbour View needed to beat the Nicaraguans and hope for a huge win by the Mexicans to advance as the second team in the group. Having lost their opener 7-0 to the Mexicans, Harbour View succeeded in beating Real Esteli 3-1 yesterday to finish on four points along with Jabloteh, but ended third on an inferior goal-difference.
Jabloteh have been the dominant team at this age group in T&T for the last two years, winning at Under-13 level in the Flow Youth Pro League in 2015 and at Under14 level in the same competition this year.
Coach Anthony “Dada” Wickham expected his side to come up against stronger teams than they regularly played against at home but expected his charges to learn a lot.
Jabloteh headed to Mexico with a contingent of 16 players, plus coach Wickham, manager Susan Farrell, senior Jabloteh head coach Keith Jeffrey, chairman Jerry Hospedales and club administrator Azad Khan.
“We are going to try and see how much we can learn,” Wickham said before departure. “It's going to be a learning curve, because some of these teams have already played in the CONCACAF tournament before, while this is our first time going out. But it's going to be a nice experience for the youngsters.”
-
Tense battle in progress v. Comunicaciones. 0-0 at the half. Jabloteh is playing counterattacking football. Well, sort of ... because the team breaks with only two players regardless of the situation.
-
Our midfield is playing withdrawn from the centre circle. As such, we have ceded a critical part of the field and have absorbed wave upon wave of attack. We also have had some indecision on dealing with wide attacking players.
1-0 Comunicaciones with not much left on the clock.
-
Might have been helpful for the TTFA to have had a member of its Technical Committee present, making internal and external benchmarking/assessments in this age group.
2-0 Comunicaciones from the second phase following a free kick.
-
Great experience for the players now they and the coach can take away areas to improve and build on from the opportunity.
-
Watching the Impact now. One of the players I've been encouraged to watch is #15, a defensive mid. Playing a Salvadoran squad that had a rigorous warm-up. End to end stuff with El Salvador having launched two missiles of a shot from top of the centre circle (age appropriate field in use).
-

Jabloteh leaves here with their heads held high and having represented T&T well. Some players with promise on the squad. Also was impressed with the tactical and emotional discipline on display. The more foreign exposure, the better.

And so it came to pass: 1-0 to the Salvadorans. The goal that made the difference was another missile from half field. Impact kpr saw it late but was almost there.
The Impact had a few players smaller than Jabloteh (#7 and one other + #13 who entered as a sub late in the proceedings. #15 was not of particular note during the game. He didn't play poorly, but he didn't have the freedom of the park.
Was reasoning with one of the Impact parents after and he agreed that the Salvadorans "played like men". Fuh real.
Very professional approach.
As a whole, Scotiabank is to be congratulated for sponsoring this event. On the other hand, I don't know how much local outreach Jabloteh did with the local Scotia, but there seemed to be room for investment to tie up some loose ends.
-
The boys received another opportunity to match up against their peers in the region. This afternoon, they played a friendly versus Herediano of Costa Rica.
Meanwhile, Comunicaciones from Guatemala, the squad that eliminated SJJ from the tournament, spanked Sporting Kansas City to advance to the final.

Why June 11? According to the league's schedule, competition concludes on July 2. Has CONCACAF set June 11 as the deadline so as to effect its logistics?

My partner coaching Police U13 team and he told me the TTFA asked them to go since they're unbeaten in the league right now. I told him they can't go to Mexico with a name like Police but then again it might work in their advantage.
-
He contacted me this morning and I was trying to help him find the rules for the tournament. I searched all over and we both couldn't find it. I told him to contact Concacaf. Anyone on here knows the rules form last year even eg subs, etc.?

Ah wonder what Jabloteh feels about that? Nuff football left to be played and they in 2nd. Anything could happen in the matches down the road.
This competition is the pinnacle competition regionally in this age group. If that's the case, why not anticipate the calendar and start the U13 competition to suit a timely determination of who wins ... rather than having a domestic competition from which the "winner" might not be the winner?
:frustrated:
To answer your question: there should be NO reason for him to be scrambling to find the rules because CONCACAF provides all the necessary guidance to each participating FA.
By the way, which U13 team plays under Police? What team is it actually?

Closest I coould find is this CONCACAF 2013 U15 CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS (http://www.concacaf.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/2013-CONCACAF-U15-Regulations_ENG.pdf)
-
Yea Palos that was the closest I found as well. Guess he was trying to be proactive but I was surprised not to find the rules on the website.
Seeker he said the team is made up of players he and our former HS coach, coach from around the country and Police asked them to represent them in the national U13 league. I know even though they were asked to go, nothing is set in stone until everything is official knowing how things operate but the 2nd rounds started last weekend and their team is unbeaten.

Would have been immensely helpful to have stated this prior to the start of the competition. But, the decision-makers failed.
Either way, Jabloteh set a bar for Police. Looking forward to seeing them qualify out of the group.

FULL-TIME: Police FC 1 ADFA San Salvador 1. Goal by ADFA San Salvador scored early in the first half. Goal to equalise by Police FC came with about ten minutes left to play in regulation.
Portmore United (JAM), the only other team at the tournament from within the CFU region, fell to Boca del Rio (MEX) 3-0 in one of the day's opening matches.

What time?
1:00 p.m. T&T time.
I had a look at the number of people following their game online yesterday and it was never any more than 27 or 28. If we factor-in that interest in the match would have been shared by family, friends and fans of Police FC and their Salvadoran opponents, that interest level is low even if we factor-in access to the Internet and work commitments etc. I'm discounting awareness of the link because one would presume that team officials would have shared it with their stakeholders.
In contrast, the Portmore United match had ~ 70 people online attentive to the match. Because their opponent was Mexican, a significant cross-section of their family, friends and fans were at the playing facility ... I'm inclined to conclude that Jamaican representation online (in the earlier time slot) was more notable than the T&T interest.
Last year I commented that there was evidence of North American parental and family support physically present at the event, but an absence of the same for Jamaican and T&T players ... with a similar circumstance for Central American families. The situation may have improved slightly this year. Will confirm.

Unquestionably poor display. The team played without a midfield. A lot of work needs to be done psychologically (and as I gather is being done) with the group for them to get the most out of the experience of a CONCACAF U-13 Club Championship.
That aside, it must be stated that Police FC has a very professional presentation (appearance of the technical staff etc.). However, there remain administrative and preparation deficiencies that need to be redressed at the level of the TTFA and the Pro League in advance of teams departing for this event, despite it being a CONCACAF tournament. Both the Pro League and the TTFA need to take activist and leadership roles in advance of departure, rather than acting as mere conduits of information from CONCACAF to the club that has qualified for the event. At the end of the day, the product on the field is a Trinidad & Tobago product and both entities should have vested interests in protecting the image of T&T football.

What time?

Definitely more parental presence this year. Clubs like Herediano and Alajuelense have mobilized many families. Despite the economic hurdles in the T&T economy, this could be achieved for T&T support of the club that has qualified (particularly if the timing of when the team identified for participation at the tournament improves).

3-0.
It must be said: what is on display is an indictment of the Youth Pro League. May the responsible parties stand up and own responsibility.
None of the responsible parties to whom I refer are in Toluca, Mexico.

Who are the responsible parties, and why should they be in Mex. ?
-
Who are the responsible parties, and why should they be in Mex. ?
Maybe the ones in charge of grassroots/youth development. I think they should at least present viewing games and other teams to network and learn what the other teams in the region are doing. That's what TD's typically do but we know everything and we jamming still, cropover and caribana weekend.

Much of the blame lies with people who are not in Mexico. That's the assertion. I don't fault the players. They are doing the best that they can do. We are dealing with U-13s.

The top two (2) teams from each group from the group play stage have progressed to the Quarterfinal matches.
The bottom two (2) teams in each group from the group play stage have progressed to the Shield Quarterfinal matches.
The Shield Quarterfinal format was introduced to CONCACAF U-13 Champions League competition this year. In preceding years, elimination from competition occurred immediately after the group play stage and losing teams lacked the environment of additional "competitive matches", although some inter-club friendlies were arranged during the period of inactivity experienced by these clubs.
Police FC have progressed to the Shield Quarterfinal bracket and will play Chicago Fire at 3:00 p.m. T&T. time.

Universidad Cantera Norte players and coaches (pictured) lift the Scotiabank CONCACAF U-13 Champions League trophy after defeating Alajuelense in the final on August 12, 2017, in Toluca, Mexico.
TOLUCA, Mexico – Universidad Cantera Norte scored twice late in the second half and earned the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF U-13 Champions League title, defeating Alajuelense, 2-0, in the final on Saturday at the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol’s headquarters.
Alajuelense had not conceded a goal in the entire tournament until the 53rd minute, when Luis Fernando Renteria Farias headed home off a right-sided corner kick. Four minutes later, the scenario was eerily similar as Miguel Angel Carreon Medel sent a header into the back of the net off another in-swinging corner from the right.
Both sides completed the competition with 5W-0D-1L records.
In the match for third place, Fuerza Naranja topped Toronto FC, 1-0, on 29th minute goal by Angel De Jesus Ramirez Mora.

Historic victory for Jabloteh. Congrats to the players and staff. However, I would say don't get carried away in the moment because sterner tests are ahead and a second victory is needed to advance comfortably.
When SJJ was at the tournament in 2016, no family support was on the ground. Last year there was only one parent when Police participated. As such, it's a progresive step in 2018 to have SJJ return to Mexico with several relatives of the players in attendance. Dahis a positive vibe.

once gain once again once gain once agan, there are NO local coaches or coaches who have made their careers in T&T football circles who are good enough in this day and age. We need qualified and proven foreign coaches to develop our football from junior to senior level, men and women football. Let our local coaches learn from them as assistants. But as usual in T&T the local old men think they can do it, they think they know it all although it is proven again and again they are not ready and don't know shit.
Here's another tournament to test your assertion.

Meanwhile, Jabloteh lost again today (4-1 final score) versus Montreal Impact. Of note, Mount Pleasant from Jamaica has scored 8 goals in two matches and conceded only 2 goals ... which is a notable improvement on their body of performances over the years.

T&T will not get any were playing that type of boom kick football.

Jabloteh plays today at 5pm T&T time. The opponent is ADFA Santa Ana from El Salvador. Santa Ana enters the match having drawn 2-2 with Montreal Impact on Matchday 1 and defeated Mexican outfit Guerreros Coahuila 1-0 yesterday. Jabloteh, despite having found the back of the net in successive matches, have been unable to capitalise on those goals.

Most of the teams are represented by players who bear the citizenship of the countries in which the clubs are based - but, there are exceptions. Futbol Consultants from Costa Rica have a player with Venezuelan citizenship, Philadelphia Union have two players with foreign citizenship (1 Spain and 1 Mexico) and Vancouver Whitecaps have 1 Jamaica and 1 China.
So ... no other Trinbagonians on the face of it. ;)
Philadelphia Union brought the youngest player to the tournament - a player a few months shy of turning 12. On the other hand, one of the Mexican squads and Mount Pleasant from Jamaica are highly represented with players born in 2005. One with 9 players, the other with 10.

Even the Jabloteh U-13s travel with more forwards than Dennis. :P
-
Jabloteh have taken the lead right from the start. 1-0.

Seemed to be a hint of handball by the Salvadoran player just prior to the equalizer.
2-1 in short order. Santa Ana leads.
-
3-1. That 3rd goal is slackness. The ball should have been managed better by Jabloteh because it was clear that the ref was close to blowing for HT.
-
The slide continues: 4-1.
-
One-dimensional approach to the attack.
-
San Juan Jabloteh have a chance to continue their learning today. They play in the consolation bracket (The Shield trophy) against Chapulineros Oaxaca from Mexico.
Looking to see evidence of learning from the prior stage of the tournament applied to this outing.

Jabloteh U-13s suffers fourth straight loss
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian)
T&T’s San Juan Jabloteh ended their campaign at this year’s Scotiabank Concacaf Under-13 Champions League with a fourth straight loss from as many matches, 0-2 against Chapulineros de Oaxaca of Mexico in the losers quarterfinals at the Costa Rican Football Federation Sports Complex, in San Jose, Costa Rica on Wednesday.
Commenting on the display of his team, Jabloteh Technical Director, Keith Jeffreys said his team had only itself to blame for the loss after missing five one-one-one chances as well as an open goal with no goalkeeper insight.
Jabloteh, making their fourth straight appearance in the competition was forced to contest the losers plate quarterfinals after ending bottom of their four-team Pool A round-robin series with three defeats.
On Saturday last, Guerreros de Coahuila of Mexico defeated Jabloteh 3-1 with goals from Carlos De La Cruz (28th), Emiliano Campos (30th) and Giovanni Alemon (44th) after the T&T club led through a second-minute strike from Raheem Mohan.
A day later Jabloteh went under to Canada’s Montreal Impact 4-1 with Sorin Ziane having a brace (1’, 30+2’), while Ettiene Godin (40th) and Antoine N’Diaye (53rd) added one each. Mohan again tallied Jabloteh's lone item in the 23rd.
And on Monday in their final Pool A round-robin match, Jabloteh fell by a similar 4-1 margin to pool winners, Santa Ana of El Salvador.
Both Gerardo Contreras (18th & 20th) and Ricardo Villatoro (30th & 39th) bagged braces for Santa Ana after Lindell Sween had given Jabloteh, a seventh-minute advantage.
Last year, Jabloteh was ousted in the main draw quarterfinals by Panama’s Cl Plaza Amada after a 5-0 loss.

Nigel Simon, thanks for bringing this age group into focus. Just a correction doh: It's not Jab's 4th straight appearance. Jabloteh's run was broken by Police in 2017.
By the way, the Panamanian club is CD Plaza Amador - a club has been making notable inroads in its junior age groups and like Jabloteh have multiple appearances at this tournament.
