When last Barbados National Football team play a competitive football match?

Looks like their last match was a 2-0 loss to Dominican Republic in Caribbean Cup qualifying on March 29 2016  Nearly one year ago to date

But we expect to go into Hex battle against Panama and Mexico with a match against Barbados as we preparation.

And we expect to be competitive in de Hex.

Whatever "success" we may have at this level, is definitely not due to competent administration

Iz clearly nonsense. At least it's occurring with the Bajan domestic league a few weeks old or not it would be completely shabby. This match is less useful than Nicaragua buh we hadda play somebody before PAN.

Then play W Coonection.  That should be easy to arrange.  Probably will be more competitive than playing Barbados

This is an insult.

Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Guatemala, Cuba all have to prepare for major tournaments and we couldn't get none or DJW trying to save a penny.

We playing Barbados to prepare for Mexico and Panama, de top two teams in CONCACAF after Costa Rica.

De Pro League just finish, we woulda be better of playing a Pro League 11, at least this way Lawrence woulda see more locals.

We coulda even play de Under 20 team who just finish a major tournament.

what is a GPRS
From an article by the TTFA Media:
This week also saw the introduction of the General Packet Radio System (GPRS) into the senior team programme overseen by football scientist Stephen Bradley who was named as a member of Lawrence’s backroom staff.

The GPRS is a software designed to analyze players’ physical condition in detail. The jacket worn by the players during the training has a  tiny radio inside it which sends all the data of the player’s physical condition to the computer, operated by Bradley. GPRS Trackers clarifies everything, from the player’s pulse rate, blood pressure, his endurance capacity, the blood circulation, the condition of important bones in his body and Lawrence and his staff will be able to know every aspect after using GPRS tracking system.

“I think it’s been fantastic. We allowed the players to feel themselves into it. We did a full presentation on it and the players are fully clear on what the GPRS does and I am hoping to see a reaction to that,” Lawrence said.

The RESULT against Barbados is largely immaterial

EXCEPT

It would dent the players confidence for a team in the Hex to lose to, or even draw against a team like that....no matter the status of the game

But we shouldn't be playing Barbados in preparation for a final stage world cup qualifier anyway.

Even playing Suriname was poor.

And the TTFA has ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE.

Is not like they didn't know when these 2 matches were.

Even had they waited until after the USA game in November to go looking for an opponent for the March games...which would expose just how incompetent they are...they still had 3 months to negotiate a game with a suitable opponent.

So is either they wutless AND incompetent

OR

wutless and corrupt.....corrupt because they deliberately did not seek out a proper team to prepare against because they have NO INTENTION of qualifying for World Cup 2018

How sad is it to hope that is wutless, witless,  and incompetent is the correct analysis?

Watch nah I doh know what else to say about T&T football. I hope everyone do not expect some massive turn out for our next home games. The public interest in the team is very low at the moment and no surprise considering our several recent performances. We have had some sell out crowds in the last few home WC qualifiers at home but I not sure that happening for the next home game. See that period we went through after Stephen Hart when Seinfeit took over the team, during that time support went down to an all time low and many supporters have not recovered since then

Edwards says Barbados fixture fits into build up for WCQs.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men will continue preparations this week ahead of Friday’s international friendly with Barbados at the Ato Boldon Stadium at 7pm.

The team has been training daily at the Larry Gomes Stadium with a 26-member squad involved in the sessions. The staff meantime will be joined by Englishman Sol Campbell later this week with his arrival scheduled for Thursday.

One of the players in training is former Sunderland midfielder Carlos Edwards, a member of the 2006 World Cup squad currently attached to Ma Pau Stars in the T&T Pro League.

Edwards joined the training camp last week.

“I think in every game we play, our approach has to be serious and with a no nonsense approach, regardless of whether it is a qualifier or a friendly,” Edwards told TTFA Media after training on Monday.

“We haven’t played Barbados for quite a while now and no one knows exactly what kind of test they will bring but I have no doubt they will give us a fairly decent challenge and offer us what we are looking for from this game.

“It’s like a dress rehearsal for the World Cup qualifiers in spite of the fact that not all the players meaning those from overseas are available. But I know the local bunch of players are all focused and excited to show the new manager what they are capable of in a game situation. It’s an exciting challenge for everyone,” Edwards added.

The former Wrexham man says he is looking forward to pressing for selection in Dennis Lawrence’s squad for the two World Cup qualifiers with Panama on March 24th and Mexico on March 28th at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

“I have expressed my feelings about being back in the national set up since the Christmas period and I feel very much the same about it which is honoured and excited. I am just looking forward to the games coming up. It will be very good to jump in and have Dennis getting a bit of selection headache for the World Cup qualifiers coming up and obviously playing my part in helping the team,” Edwards stated.

Edwards also spoke on the inclusion of Sol Campbell to the coaching staff.

“He will bring authority and professionalism. When you hear the name and what he has brought to the game and achieved in it, it speaks volumes. Sol coming on board with Dennis, Stern and Stuart Charles (Fevrier) will add to a formidable staff. The players will benefit from being around him and the rest of the staff. The players will get to ask questions and rub shoulders with men who will bring value to the whole set up,” Edwards added.

Tickets for Friday’s International Friendly will be on sale at the game venue on Friday priced at $50 (Adults) and $20 (children). Kick off is 7pm.

Let us look at the positive. We will see what style of football Lawrence will bring to the table and who on this B team will be on the bench when the foreign players arrive for the big dance in march. I have this hunch that we will see an Everton style of football a la Martinez.

That's if Martinez style of football fits us as a nation, is the question..

That might fit England but whether it will translate to winning football for our national team is another question

Martinez teams were poor defensively, hence his sacking.

Looking forward to see what will be on offer come Friday.

Lawrence says Friday’s match good chance for players to show worth.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago head coach Dennis Lawrence says it’s going to be exciting for his players to take to the pitch and show their worth in Friday’s International friendly against Barbados as he looks ahead to his first international match in charge of the Men’s Senior Team.

Lawrence made his international playing debut for T&T back on March 18th, 2000 in a 1-1 draw with Curacao in a 2002 World Cup Qualifier. This time he will also debut in March in his new capacity.

For his maiden appearance in 2000, Lawrence had Carlos Edwards and Ross Russell as his teammates and on Friday Russell will partner Lawrence once more as his goalkeeper coach while Edwards is expected to take the field of play.

I think it’s going to be exciting for the players. I think the work we have done over the time should have prepared them for a game of this magnitude. I am looking forward to it and to see how much the boys have taken on board over the past couple of weeks we have been working,” Lawrence told TTFA Media after training on Wednesday morning at Larry Gomes Stadium.

A 22-man squad will go into the encounter and the former Everton coach said he will be looking to have a lot at as many players possible during Friday’s fixture.

“It hasn’t been that difficult (to select the squad) because the numbers at the moment is actually the numbers we will go in with for the game. Seon (Power) is someone that has just come back from Thailand. He is not with a club at the moment an we’ve invited hm to come in and be part of the group for now. He is obviously not ready for competitive football at that level so we will leave Seon out. We’ll go with the next twenty outside players and two goalkeepers.

“The idea is to make sure is that everybody gets a good portion of the game because I think it’s only fair wit the work being done, to give them the opportunity to present themselves and say to myself and say to Trinidad and Tobago that they are ready for selection come March 24th and 28th,” Lawrence added.

Tickets for Friday’s match which kicks off at 7pm will be on sale at the venue on gameday and are priced at $50 (adults) and $20 (children. Gates open at 4pm.

Fans will be able to access tickets for the upcoming 2018 World Cup Qualifiers against Panama and Mexico from this coming Friday March 10th at Lotto Locations throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

The TTFA has decided to offer an early bird ticket which will cost $300 (per match) for the covered section and $160 (per match)  for the uncovered from Friday March 10th until March 17th. Then on March 18th the Tickets will cost $350 (per match)  for covered and $200 (per match) for covered.

Season Pass Holders will have access to both matches and persons interested in purchasing their Season Pass can do so at any First Citizen’s Bank Branch.

T&T Senior Men face Barbados at Ato Boldon.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Men’s Senior Team will be hoping to make a strong impression in their International warm up clash with Barbados when both teams meet on Friday at the Ato Boldon Stadium from 7pm.

T&T head coach Dennis Lawrence oversaw a final training session at the Couva venue on Thursday evening and expects to have a squad of players eager to face their opponents as preparations continue for the all important 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Mexico on March 24th and 28th.

Assistant coach Sol Campbell was scheduled in on Thursday night and is expected to be with Lawrence and his staff for the encounter with the “Bajans”.

“Like I said it will be exciting for the players as they get the chance to show us that they are worthy of selection for the two World Cup qualifiers. From a commitment point, they have given enough focus and attention to the work that we have tried to do. Now it’s just about execution and it’s for the players to go out and concentrate on the work that we’ve done also go out there and deliver,” Lawrence said.

Central FC Midfielder Leston Paul is expecting the T&T side to step up to the call.

“Things have been fantastic for the past couple of weeks. We’ve put in a great load of work and having the new technology with the GPRS means we can now see where are at physically. Coach has simplified his game so the guys have gotten a good hold of it,” Paul told TTFA Media.

“The sessions have been well planned and great all round. It has been just enough to get us ready for international football,” he added.

As to how much the game on Friday will play its part in the build up to Panama and Mexico, the ex-national under 17 captain said: “I think every game is important. It’s a new group of guys so everyone is ready to go to show themselves for selection.

“We know how important these two games are with regards to our qualifying chances and the players realise that and they all would like to be part of the effort. The coach has emphasised how important it is for us to be on top of our game at all times and to stay focused and ready at all times,” Paul added.

Tickets for the game are priced at $50 (adults) and $20 (kids) and are available at the Ato Boldon Stadium on game day. Gates open at 4pm. Tickets for the two World Cup qualifying games are on sale at Lotto Locations throughout the country from Friday. (March 10th).

T&T locally-based professional footballers will hope to make their one chancecount largely during an international friendly to impress newly-appointed national senior coach Dennis Lawrence against Barbados at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, from 7pm this evening.

The match is being used to asses the locals who, if selected, will join the list of foreign-based players in the national squad for the next two Concacaf World Cup Final Round qualifiers versus Panama on March 24, and four days later versus Mexico—both at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, from 7pm.

The 156th-ranked Barbadians are also using the match as part of their build up for the Windward Islands competition in May, and will be in action again on March 26 when they meet Martinique at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

The Soca Warriors, ranked 84th in the world are without a point after two matches following two defeats, at home to Costa Rica (0-2) and on the road against Honduras (1-3), to be joint bottom of the six-team final round table with USA.

Costa Rica heads the standings with maximum six points while Mexico is next with four points, the same as Panama followed by Honduras, a point behind.

Speaking following a training session at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, on Wednesday, Lawrence, who was appointed last month after the short-stint of Belgium Tom Saintfiet, who was in the job for 35-days and four matches after he replaced sacked Stephen Hart, said he was looking forward to the players performed following the training camp.

The scorer of the all-important goal away to Bahrain in November 2005 to seal T&T’s lone appearance at a Fifa World Cup Finals (2006), the 42-year-old Lawrence who will be in charge of his first match since being appointed in February said, “It’s going to be exciting for players to take to the pitch and show their worth. I think it’s going to be exciting for the players as the work we have done over the time should have prepared them for a game of this magnitude. I am looking forward to it and to see how much the boys have taken on board over the past couple of weeks we have been working.”

However, missing out today will be Tyrone Charles, Nathan Lewis, goalkeeper Jan-Michael Williams, and defenders Carlyle Mitchell, Radanfah Abu Bakr and Julius James.

Charles and Lewis are away with their club San Juan Jabloteh at the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship qualifiers in St Vincent, while Mitchell and Williams are sidelined through injury, and Bakr (Estonia) and James (USA) are away seeking professional contracts.

The squad is made up of seven uncapped players in Jamille Boatswain, national futsal striker Jameel Perry, Jared London, Taryk Sampson, Jesus Perez, Akeem Humphrey, and Jomoul Francois while among the notables are World Cup veteran, 38-year-old Edwards, who is eight matches shy of 100 national appearances, goalkeeper Marvin Phillip (59 caps), defender Daneil Cyrus (63) and midfielder Hughtun Hector (40).

Keron Cummings (13), Curtiz Gonzales (11), former Under-17 and Under-20 Youth World Cup captain Leston Paul (nine), Sean De Silva and Hashim Arcia, both with six and Triston Hodge (five) are the others to have featured at least five times.

Lawrence said, “The idea is to make sure that everybody gets a good portion of the game because I think it’s only fair to give them the opportunity to present themselves for selection for March 24th and 28th.”

Yesterday, the T&T team held a final training at the Couva venue, and was expected to be joined by assistant coach and former England captain and defender Sol Campbell following his arrival from Europe yesterday afternoon.

T&T will go into the clash with the Bajans, boasting an impeccable record of 17 wins, nine draws and two defeats, coming in August 1976 (2-1), in a Fifa World Cup Qualifier and 1-0 in at CFU Cup qualifiers in 1997.

Since 1997, T&T has gone 13 matches without defeat against Barbados, winning the last four as well, including the last two 2012 World Cup qualifiers, 2-0 and 4-0 in 2011.

Tickets for tonight’s match will be on sale from 4pm at the venue and are priced at $50 (adults) and $20 (children).

To be honest, I expect us to boss this game with a 2 goal margin of victory.

Barbados ranked over 150th and lost to Curacao in WC qualifying. I just hope we approach the game with confidence and bit of ruthlessness.

If these local players have anything about them they should need little motivation to go out and trounce this team and show their worth to a new coach. 9-10 players from overseas can come and easily command a starting spot, why should any of this local group deserve a spot ahead of those coming in, show your worth.

Be careful what you ask for

I expect 2goals minimum without conceding. This game is to look at style of play and how well Dennis has the Defence playing. I hope they break the bad habit of ball watching and leaving men unmarked.
I guess the Coach will have an interest in Cummings, Paul , De Silva and Hashim. Some one should tell the hopefuls that Opportunity comes knocking once , so that they can give it their all at this game.

standouts were Boatswain ( and just just his two classy finishes)..work rate and assassin like approach..

Leston Paul...came on at the half and changed the dynamic of the tnt midfield...great range of passing and had 3 or 4 brilliant middle/long range passes to open Bdos...

i would rate SOLID as DeSliva..Hector..Chucky ( workman like)..

alvin jones with a few aggressive overlaps but poor delivery...

the back four and keeper untested all night really...

Dennis gave the three strikers 30 mins each..not to see who would score goals necessarily... but to see overall play...

you can see Dennis " WORK"..so that was good...4-2-3-1...urging the full backs to go forward lots...rotate ball..possession..

calm ...and funny on sidelines ( bdos game i guess)...he had a go at the ref and fourth official a few times...but smiling doing it...they were all female..so guess he was being a gentleman...he does carry a bit of a Dave Chapelle look...lol...

a minute silence was observed at kick off for 14's daughter.. ( God Bless)

covered stand full... my guess 3500 people...two frigging open turnstiles...deadfowl slow...

if someone put a gun to my head and say pick some players from  tonight for the big games..i will pick Boatswain...Leston Paul..Marvin Phillips...and Hector ( cause he got a great last name )..........on to the real thing...

sorry...ball pest was decent..looks a bit over weight..expected...but good touches...

and CONTRO is right... DJW was aiming a gun at pest..again...

right back was Alvin Jones... but...remains our question mark positions ..right and left back

Carlos played right wing when he came on...

Good that Cummings is back. But what he experienced is tragic. Maybe he is still traumatized by the incident. Imagine the perpetrator is still out there. And could still harm him. Seeing the sad state of affairs in the AfroTrini community and total helpless of the Police, his confidence must must be still shaky. I wonder if he done sessions with a psychiatrist on his situation.

Like I said, if the shooter not dead and they find him and interrogate him, you will get some interesting info... up to now the whole shooting made no sense and to me was a set up...

Cummings is holding back because he was probably told to take it easy after those Mexico matches, it was a warning shot ⚠️ to him ..

He needs to get with a physio and psychiatrist ... if he ever regains his form he will need to leave trini because it's not safe for players who disrupt the order

With respect to Deeks eh, after listening them the game before this, I give up and just enjoy it for the humor yes. It come like dem liming and ole talking and --oh by the way -- dey commentating on ah game too. Having said that, I wish we could get ah Alvin Cornmeal type commentary? Oh well we have to take what we get and make the most of it.

What frigging Bostock waiting on commit to we? Ah England call up??? Steups.

Who are the "one or two" surprises Coach Lawrence talking about.

How come Cummings looking ah lil heavy after playing in the Pro League all these months?

CONTROVERSIAL ah coming at yuh peaceful eh...what you does be talking about with that Cummings shooting bredda? You insinuating somebody didn't want him to succeed so they put him place? Yuh does really really confound ah fellah wid yuh theories...respectfully submitted ;)

Lastly...who the hell is QUESI WESTON!??! How I never hear bout he?? Granted from the FB video it look like he playing in some 2nd Division Turkish league, but the man big and strong and -- from all appearances -- have a friggin cultured left-foot??

Oh that reminds me...umm Boatswain was hiding in plain sight from Hart? Oh is only just now that he start displaying this talent?

Quesi Weston played as a goalkeeper on the T&T U-17 and U-20 teams. He was also a goalkeeper and forward for Shiva Boys. Then he went on a scholarship to Wiley College. He is now playing in the Turkish Regional Amateur League which is the fifth tier of Turkish football.

Jamille Boatswain is only now breaking out after moving from Point Fortin Civic FC to Defence Force.

What's up with Quesi? Googled him and I think he's now in Cyprus if I'm not mistaken. We need a proper centre forward and he fits the bill although I know we've got Rundell Winchester and obviously the inform Akeem Garcia.

Quesi was last playing for Doğan Türk Birliği in the Northern Cyprus Süper Lig. Whilst he does have the physique of someone who can be a dominating center forward, he will be 27 this year, and has not played at any notable level. He has mostly played in amateur/semi-pro leagues in USA, Turkey, and Northern Cyprus.
