Title: Nation League Question
Post by: andre samuel on October 09, 2019, 12:15:59 PM
Hi everyone,

Just a quick question regarding the Nations League qualification process.

Since we drew both games and are on 2pts with Martinique, what will be the deciding factor for 2nd place (and Gold Cup qualification) if Honduras beats both Trinidad and Martinique in both games.  Will it be goal difference or head to head?

If it is head to head, then i would assume that Martinique is ahead of us by virtue of the away goals.

i am not sure so don’t quote me, but i think it’s only the first place team that matters, 2nd place has no significance from what i understand, but don’t quote me because im talking off the top........

Concacaf Nations League A (8 teams): After group stage play in November 2019, the top two teams from each of the four League A groups will qualify directly to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.

What is the tiebreaker process to determine qualification, promotion and relegation within the Leagues?
1. Points obtained in all qualifying matches.
2. Goal difference in all qualifying matches.
3. Number of goals scored in all qualifying matches.
4. Number of away goals scored in all qualifying matches.
5. Fair play points in all qualifying matches (only one deduction could be applied to a player in a single match):
        a. Yellow card: –1 point
        b. Indirect red card (second yellow card): –3 points
        c. Direct red card: –4 points
        d. Yellow card and direct red card: –5 points
6. Drawing of lots.

I hope you guys are watching the costa rica curaçao game and the amazing saves that navas made to keep costa rica in the game.

as i keep saying, your goalie is the difference between winning and losing and it’s safe to say that if it was anyof our keepers particularly marvin phillip curaçao would have been up by two goals make no mistake about it.
