Football / Re: Trinidad and Tobago opens in style.

I know that Chris Birchall (from my club, Port Vale) had a quiet game but if Leon was not satisfied he would have withdrawn him.

I feel he'll play much better against England.

This was a gritty, gutsy performance which well-deserved the draw. :beermug: :beermug: :beermug:
Everyone must be PROUD.  God bless you, TRINI'N'BAGO!!!

After seeing England's poor performance v. Paraguay, I just wonder what Uncle Leon has up his sleeve for Thu. evening?  ???

Team news (and good news) from BBC:-

"Bahrain coach Luka Peruzovic will be without influential duo Mohammed Salmeen and Abdulla Al Marzooqi for the second leg of the World Cup qualifier.
Midfielder Salmeen and defender Al Marqooqi are suspended after picking up bookings in the first leg 1-1 draw.
Striker Talal Yousef has a foot injury and may be replaced by Ala'a Hubail, who came on a substitute on Saturday.

Trinidad & Tobago coach Leo Beenhakker has a fully-fit squad to choose from and no suspension concerns. "

Come on, T & T!  You can surely do it!!!

Hello, Redditch Valiant, and all T & T Soca Warriors!

So in Brussels it's 17.00 k.o. and I'll be "watching" on the Internet.

This game will be difficult, but NOT impossible, as the togetherness in the T & T camp carries out onto the field.  Looks like T & T have had their one "bad" game;  maybe now it's Bahrain's turn.

We know Luca Peruzovic, their coach, here in Belgium as he coached Racing Genk, Charleroi and Andeflecht and I think even played fo rone or more of those clubs.

BELT IT LIKE BIRCHALL!!! SEE YOU IN GERMANY!!
Robbie Earle - Jamaica - France 1998
Chris Birchall - T & T - Germany 2006

The tradition grows ...

God bless all the T & T squad, coaches, and the 100± fans who are out in Bahrain!!
:beermug: :beermug: :beermug: (for celebration later tonight ...)

"Fail to prepare - prepare to fail" -
Steve Waugh, former Aussie cricket captain.

Well, no worries, there ...

From what I read on the Websites, Beenhakker's preparation could not have been more thorough and methodical, even having the Bahrain - Uzbekistan game watched by one of his staff.

Come on T a T!!!  See you in Germany!

I'm a Port Vale fan, "exiled" in Brussels.

The "fairytale" story of young Chris Birchall is truly amazing!

From zero to hero, still only 20 years old, with 11 caps and that amaaaaaaazing goal ... we are also so proud of him at Port Vale!!

Learning his skills under top-class Dutch coaches and playing with players from a higher level can only help his career.

Best wishes against Pancho Vila and the rest tomorrow night.  Maybe the Mexes will take it a little easy since they qualified ... what do you think?

So ...  see you in snowy Uzbekistan or sunny Bahrain ... truly, it is the world game these days!

(BTW, Port Vale also signed Hector Sam from Wrexham in pre-season but he broke his leg and is still injured.)
