Football / Re: Has Marvin Phillips cemented the goalkeeper spot?
« on: August 22, 2008, 07:43:09 AM »
Marvin Phillip has always been a Great GoalKeeper. Had he left the country to play abroad I would go so far to say he might even be world class now. I watch him play from way back and was always a cut above the rest. IN fact people have told me that he used to actually help train Jan Michael during under 17 times.I dont know how true that is but even ole talk does come from somewhere. So far he has been consistent and I see no reason why we should replace him because someone else foreign based. His shot stopping, collecting crosses, commanding the defence and distribution just as good and even better than the crop of goalies available however in terms of physicality and size he is lacking a bit and that is just a nutrition and weight problem.

I should think this man know what he doing...I behind him 100%...Get the Pro Leagueand TTFF involved...The only way we standard of football will raise regardless of South Africa is at the youth level and believe it or not the Pro League can play an important role in developing our players..That alliance have to be there...The Proleague cyah have one goal the National setup have another and TTFF have another...They have to think along the same line therefore I think that meeting is an indication that they at least try to get the ball rolling...T&T football need structure and if we are to capitalize on any talent we have we have build one sooner rather than later...Maturana take it upon himself to be the man using Local players and in form players rather than having a policy that overseas is a must...Simoes came and tried something similar....Look at it this way...anytime T&T have a youth team from under 13 something good does always come out of it..even if is one player...Most posters on this site only concerned with going to South Africa ...making the trip ...scraping through qualifiers.,...reach South Africa and get beat and go home in the first round and everybody good with that...Is a big lime, rel beers, women, hotel the works...and everyone fine with that.....Just like Germany...I not satisfied with that .....I might coime probably next 10-15 years but I want to see the day when we going to the World Cup and competing with other teams instead of making up numbers..Ther eis enough talent and poor structure based on school football played for 4 months in the year which usually means 2-3 months of trainng beforehand to get ready for it..A youth might play minor league or some mickey mouse football...with a bunch of poor coaches with no head no tactical brain and improper training methods to encourage good technique, zero nutrtion and strength regimes...We have been getting by on this crap for so long but now is time to try and excel...How much of us could come on the website and say we know someone who was a dam good footballer and they int reach nowhere...I think all of us could say that...Is time we use our talent and stop looking for short term victories....Go T&T !!!

I can't really sit here and be happy about an American team winning against a Trini team regardless of how much trinis it had on the team....JAblo represented local football and they should have done better against this team....If some of you guys think thats a good result for us....Absolutely MAdness !!!

« on: May 13, 2008, 12:25:16 PM »
Thanks Touches for the report.....Glad to see Jamal Gay score ... I think even though we played badly I glad for the result...Hopefully the coach can point out the deficiencies and work on them for the England game...I see men saying they hope is not that defense and all that crap but you have to realize that is local young players and they doing their best...I see men talking about them fellas cyah trap a ball....Are you guys kidding me??? These guys can trap, these fellas can pass....its at what level...On the international level we supporters want to see Brazil playing...These guys trying to pass and trap at a higher speed and level than they used to...so of course they not going to get it perfect...It not like they playing La Liga or EPL and the level not much different and they could seamlessly waltz in and play well..We have to understand this...The only how we will get better is to make mistakes...Improvement will come over time....Our goal is preparation to WC qualifiers and I figure we will be ready...I think Pancho should change Anton Pierre though....We have better center backs....for example Julius James, Fabien Lewis...Once these guys come in soon enough I not frightened at all for our team......We played bad but got the result...Go T&T !!!

To hear that youth man training hard literally raise my pores...The man was the best forward at his age group hands down and just so he fall off...I see too much men fall off and it really refreshin to see a man get back on the trail...Its only the 4th game in PFL but lets hope he continues being motivated because Jerrol Forbes is trouble for our opposition even though he not playing outside ..... :beermug: :beermug:...Maturana has to stay !!!

Football / Re: A BIT CONCERN.....
« on: April 22, 2008, 03:52:03 AM »
Well to be honest, besides Stern John there is not any goal-scorer. John was very prolific, so its going to be hard to emulate him. Kenwyne Jones in my opinion hasn't found his eye for goal just yet but he can cause problems in and around the area. Hopefully with guys like Jerrol Forbes hungry again, Sealy and Jason Scotland we may be able to find one in these players. I think it is necessary for us to have this type of player because their is more balance to the team and more composure.

So what if is Grenada...I doh mind because as long as the guys testing themselves even though is against Grenada I think it would be good for our team...Football is a funny sport and all teams should be given respect...We have to be able to beat these teams on a regular basis...I see nothing wrong with that....Lets see what tactics Maturana going to use..I see he call that youth man Britto...hmmm

Marvin Oliver is a an inspiration...Hopefully many footballers can realize their talents like he did...Better late than never and I am glad he looking to give back...The thing about that story is that I know many blessed footballers who got derailed...minor league champs...but they young lets hope things can turn around...If only more money could be put in the PFL things would improve....Go T&T!!!

Football / Re: Wim versus Maturana
« on: April 16, 2008, 10:09:54 AM »
Bake n Shark you are being quite an asshole...this is a forum and a Trini one at that so if your Americanized ass can't handle a little harsh talk I suggest you go somewhere else where your bullshit might be appreciated....Anyhoooow

Wim did get restricted by the blacklist ...ok but what did he do to deal with it(as a National Coach)? Instead of he try to work with what he has and encourage the players available to him because obviously it was totally out of his hands; he decide to put down the entire local league and players and destroy the confidence the public have in the team and the confidence that the players should have in themselves...No tell me what coach you know does put the team business in the public...Even Jose Mourinho( who I admire very much) who is an outspoken coach never bring such news out in the open(although not the same). When he was forced to include Sheva he never publicly come out and say we losing or our results not as good because we had to change the system to accomodate Sheva....Fabio Capello even when being outspoken said good things...He say Ronaldo was overweight but in the next breath say he is the best player he ever work with...He say Beckham will never play for Madrid from January then publicly praise Beckham for working hard to stay on the team.....My point is not even World Class coaches slate their players the way Wim did...The job of a coach is to motivate his players train them using drills he think would help them play the way he wants and create tactics which could help his team win...Wim probably just train the players alone....He never motivate them and sure as hell didn't create any tactics that helped them produce the best football they could....Although his best players was 'taken' away from him he was supposed to put himself in a mindset to use different tactics and training to prepare his team because it would be 'new' players he coaching...Make them play to their strengths and encourage them....Instead he complain publicly down them. When a coach doesn't have confidence in a player, the player either tries too hard and does crap most of the time, doesn't try at all or he tries hard and wins the coaches confidence(rarely)....
Maturana however, has the players available to him and actually seek out local talent which he thinks he can use...He never bad talk the quality although we all know he come from a higher pedigree in South America....He has done well so far....so lets hope he keep it up ....He use tactics which the locals can use to play well and encourage them to fight on the field playing against Jamaica who had plenty foreign based...The only difference is that Wim didn't know he would HAVE to use the locals down the road...but as a NATIONAL coach he should be able to work around it and if he can't...leave...don't cry and wine about it like a baby....steups...I glad he gone !!!...Go T&T!!!!

I want to see Hughton Hector on that team but say what...Hector performance against Chivas prove he is talent...I doh know what going with Andre Toussaint but as a person that highly rates him I would like to see him in the mix..It have a defender by the name of Fabien Lewis long overdue for a National call-up...I think he was playing A-League d2 last year when it have men unattached training and getting caps...I remember him playing for Naps...Was an absolute force in defense...Simoes give him some run too I think...I would really like to see these guys come out and help our country to the Next World Cup, but Maturana is the boss...Hopefully he find dem...Go T&T

Football / Re: Wim versus Maturana
« on: April 15, 2008, 07:50:38 AM »
Confidence is a huge factor in the game of Football...I know alot of our local players have talent...No wonder US colleges always scouting we SSFL player using them to make their programs better and discarding dem...Dem them same dutty American does turn around and say we not good enough...besides the rant..... ;D....
Confidence is a big factor in football ... Wim showed local players no confidence by making those statements and acting foolishly towards them...We saw where they went to Gold Cup and performed admirably in my opinion...with some confidence who knows what they may have accomplished...Wim is a shithound in my opinion because a good coach should be able to inspire the players available to them...If he get better players ....the coach still have to motivate them.... Maturana has came in and at an instant he show he wasn't afraid to chose young players and local players...Men have to fight for pick...It have no ranking ting ... And with all that he got two decent results...I saying we have talent long time and did say since the last campaign that if we had played local young players and didn't make it I woulda be happy because I know now we woulda be destroying teams...I backing the coach because he showcasing we talent and working with what he get .....so far.....I mean what do you prefer.... A manager who only quarrelling for better workers or one who using what he have and doing decent with it....Dey could lose Wim for all I care....Go T&T!!!
