CUBA FINISH AS YOUTH CUP CHAMPIONS
Aug 10, 2008 at 09:01 PM

In the CFU Boy's Youth Cup Final, Cuba defeated Trinidad and Tobago in a tightly contested match on Sunday night. The T&T team began their attacking game from the beginning of the first half and had the Cubans on the backfoot as they struggled to a scoreless end of the first half.

The second half saw a complete change in the Cuban game and they scored two goals in quick succession. In injury time, T&T # scored a goal to give the hosts hope however no other conversions came before the final whistle.

Both teams will contest the CONCACAF U-17 qualifying tournament for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti both qualified for the FIFA World Cup in 2007.

We still have not learned.  The problem with Trinbago football is that we always playing catch-up.  From our last campaign we had a certain momentum, with battle tested warriors who experienced what it took to succeed at the highest level.  Instead of relying on this "investment" the powers that may be decided to stroke their egos by blacklisting people because they tried to compromise people's intelligence (both players and indeed the citizens of Trinbago) and compromised their integrity with their petty, evil, and greedy ways.

It is much harder to start back from scratch in order to be competitive.  Instead of letting better heads prevail, and in the interim, come to some level of understanding while continuing with the advancement of T&Ts football, they decided to show who is boss by abandoning our successes in the hope that they can replace the invaluable.  Instead of complimenting the core of the unit with replacements that can learn a thing or two from the experience of seasoned campaigners, they throwing our young players into battle where they have a minimal chance to succeed.

Again we way behind in preparations than where we need to be, or could have been.  The sad part about this entire affair is that AGAIN they taking players and supporters for granted.  To be honest, we have good young players that, along with supporters, will be sorely disappointed, and disoriented if the powers that may be don't come together for the betterment of the country.

This time around, we will not have enough time to recover from the obvious debacle that is going to happen.  Sure we get Bennie the last time, and with more experienced players was fortunate to pull it off.

Being the eternal optimist, I think it is still not too late but pettiness must not prevail,  Solutions come a plenty, but two options that need to be addressed immediately include:

1)  All BLACKLISTED players MUST be reinstated with immediate effect.

2)  Jack Warner and company must provide the government of T&T with the elusive audit.

The longer it takes to make these adjustments, the further away our chances of going to AFRICA will be.  Being the eternal optimist, I hope that the administration can see the error of their ways.  They must do what is necessary.  If not, crapaud smoke we pipe.

I we don't correct our course, in due course it will be just another dream that we imagined.

Written in the annals of the history of our country...it will be said....what a waste!

If you can't do it for your ego and pocket, do it for your country!

And yes...you will get the Trinity Cross.  We go nail yuh to it!

LUV U T&T

In the last interview that hosted both Mr. Warner and Mr. Hunt, I distinctly heard Mr. Hunt say that for each situation would require a different set of arrangements.  Mr. Hunt cited the importance of the England game, and the amount charged to the public as criteria for charging the TTFF the $150,000 that they did.  He said also that for each situation would require a different set of arrangements, in lieu of the 10% rental fee.  In most cases, the 10% fee would cost the TTFF much more than any arranged fee.  The $3000 that the TTFF have been charged in the past, would no longer be practical or feasible considering the cost of maintenance and inflation.

Now I am not for the minister or against Jack Warner.  However,  I think the minister is trying his best to work with the TTFF, giving them every opportunity to work wiith the government of Trinbago.  Mr. Warner does not want to do this.  He feels that he is a power on to himself and does not want to pursue proper business protocol.  He wants to go to the Oval "for free".

On another issue, I also heard Mr. Warner say that they (TTFF) already have audits prepared which Mr. Hunt said he will gladly accept a copy of whatever Mr. Warner has.  In a more recent post, I read Mr. Warner say they are in the process of having an audit done.  Mr. Warner, do you have the audit or not?

Maybe it is all politics, but, I agree with the minister for standing up for accountability, especially if they (the TTFF) wants government to "pump" money into sport, and in this case, football in Trinidad and Tobago.

Luv U T&T

'The Bomber' returns to Reggae Boyz squad

Friday, May 23, 2008

Veteran midfielder Andy 'Bomber' Williams comes out of a two-year international retirement to join the Reggae Boyz for their five-match June blitz, which includes two World Cup qualifiers against the Bahamas, according to a Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) release yesterday.

Four new faces have been included in the 29-man squad for a May 26-June 1 training camp at Grand Lido Braco Hotel in Trelawny. They are Lee Williamson of Watford in England, Simon Ford of Kilmarnock in Scotland, Omar Cummings of the Colorado Rapids and Reno's Evan Taylor.

Williams, Norway-based Oneil Thomspon and Fabian Taylor; Cumming and Tyrone Marshall will not arrive for the start of the camp due to club commitments.

Meanwhile, Luton Town midfielder Richard Langley and Jermaine Johnson have earned recalls to the national squad, while regular captain Ricardo Gardener and Claude Davis both return from long-term injuries.

Portmore goalkeeper Shawn Sawyers heads a list of eight local-based players in the squad. The others are Taylor, Obrian Woodbine (Reno); Jermaine Taylor and Dwayne Miller (Harbour View); Adrian Reid and Rudolph Austin (Portmore), and Keneil Moodie (Seba).

The rest of the squad reads: Donovan Ricketts, Demar Stewart (Chendu, China), Ian Goodison, Jamal Campbell-Rice, Luton Shelton, Marlon King, Ricardo Fuller, Omar Daley, Demar Phillips and Deon Burton.

In addition to the aforementioned World Cup games, Jamaica will play international friendlies against Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago and St Vincent & the Grenadines.

Sources say JFF unanimous in decision to sack coach

Technical director Velibor "Bora" Mulutinovic has been booted by new Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Captain Horace Burrell, impeccable sources told the Observer, in light of some shocking revelations from the JFF.

According to the sources, Mulutinovic will be replaced by Jamaica's most successful coach, Brazilian Rene Simoes, who is expected to take charge in the Reggae Boyz's next International Friendly on November 21 against Guatemala.  Simoes was in charge when the Reggae Boyz made an historic appearance at the World Cup Finals in France back in 1998.

New treasurer, Gary Sinclair (right), outlines irregularities in the JFF accounts while president Captain Horace Burrell (centre), and general secretary Horace Reid look on during a press conference at the JFF headquarters yesterday. (Photo: Joseph Wellington)

At yesterday's press conference at the JFF headquarters in New Kingston, Burrell refused to confirm or deny Mulutinovic's sacking, saying they (the JFF) had reviewed the latter's contract and made a unanimous decision.

Said Burrell: "I know most of you are indeed waiting to hear all the details surrounding this matter and it has to do with coach Bora. The new board, having met on two occasions, have taken a unanimous decision on the issue of the technical director, the details of which... I cannot disclose at this time as I have not yet met with Mr Bora."

According to Burrell, he is expected to have dialogue with the technical director today.

SIMOES. Guided historic World Cup qualification in 1998
Quizzed repeatedly as to the future of the Serbian-born coach, Burrell held firm, saying, "The board has taken a unanimous decision as to the future where Mr Bora is concerned."

Mulutinovic, 63, took over as technical director on November 15, 2006, and is the person along with former president Crenston Boxhill, who has been most chastised for Jamaica's poor FIFA ranking and lack of confidence among the players.

In some shocking revelations yesterday, Burrell and his executives made informed reports that the JFF coffers are empty and as such, he has had to suspend the female programme.

"The treasurer has discovered that there is absolutely no money in the JFF coffers," revealed Burrell.

The female National Under-17 team is due to depart on November 19 for their World Cup Qualifiers in Antigua, and the Senior squad scheduled to leave on November 22 for their second-round Olympic Qualifier either in Cuba or Puerto Rico.

"Due to the precarious financial position of the JFF we are unable to proceed with two training camps which were planned before. There are two important international engagement for the female national teams," noted Burrell.
The training camps were immediately dismantled and according to Burrell, he will be meeting with the government to assist with the $4 million needed for the female programme.

New treasurer, Gary Sinclair, said he spent the better part of yesterday (Monday) going over a variety of issues and has put together a preliminary financial report which shows the JFF "in the red" to the tune of $95m.

"The current bank balance on a consolidated basis is $-7.4m. Inclusive in that are cheques drawn for $1.3m in salaries due to JFF staff members. In addition to this are outstanding cheques drawn and not issued to a variety of local providers of good and services, which has left us in negative cash position," said Sinclair.

According to the treasurer, the JFF receivables are $27.7m and payables are $83.4m. The JFF owes $23.9m to the technical director; $22.5m to the English Football Association; $16.4m in statutory deductions, including $9m due to PAYE, and $5m to the Premier League clubs.
"This is frightening. The entire nation was led to believe that the Federation was making a profit," said Burrell.

In the meantime, striker Marlon King's disciplinary ban has been lifted by the JFF for what they say was too harsh a penalty, after reviewing the Watford player's case.

"As in respect to Marlon King, based on representation received, we have looked at the issue and a reprieve has been granted to Mr King. King is now eligible to represent Jamaica," confirmed JFF's first vice-president, Dale Spencer.

Jamaica should also play El Salvador on November 18, but Burrell said it has not been confirmed as he has not yet received the letter from the El Salvador football authorities.
He said every overseas-based Jamaican player will be called up for the two friendlies to be played at the National Stadium.

I agree with the opinions of Maxg, Dcs, Touches, Coops ...nuff said.

Too much other priorities that needs taking care off....from a business standpoint....that will support the economic needs and development of our nation....instead of political expediency that champions the need of any political party...although....their rhetoric indicates it will support the needs of sportmen and sportswoman of our country.

From the information I have, there is no true mention of infrastructure that would insure the efficient use of the "White Elephant."  This venture only takes care of those special interest groups that will make millions..economically and politically..while compromising the use of the complex....because the ordinary person finds no easy access to the jungle.....or the ordinary man in the street finds the price to high to pay for its use.

Spend money on roads, railwaylines, water, electricity, the hospital etc. and upgrade existing complexes.
