Take it easy breds, yuh over-reacting.

Would you accept someone saying that about T&T?...I wouldn't and I certainly won't accept it about the UK either.
Quote

But you can't act as if everything lovey dovey in Great Britain given the history. I know of some Scots etc, if you call them British they'll cuss yuh up bad bad bad. And I suppose the same mentality we had back in the days when coming up against the English cricket team (how we were so proud of beating our former colonial masters), remnants of those sentiments will still be present when we play them in the World Cup.

Trinidad and Tobago special adviser Jack Warner is "extremely pleased" with the World Cup draw, which will pit T&T against England, Sweden and Paraguay in Group B.

"I am extremely pleased with the kind of draw that I have," Warner said in an interview with TV6 following the draw in Leipzig, Germany yesterday. "It's the kind of draw I predicted, I said we'd have England, and we have England, and I feel that we have a very good chance of heading to the second round, therefore I am extremely happy."

"Up to this afternoon I was telling everybody that we shall be in the group with England and then (go on) to win that group. Everybody said I was a soothsayer, and I was of course able to predict quite well."

"I did predict that we would qualify and we did," Warner added, "...I predict now that we will be in the second round, and we will be."

The FIFA vice-president also related that coach Leo Beenhakker is also very pleased about the draw, especially with so many "Soca Warriors" based at clubs in England.

"He (Beenhakker) is extremely pleased. In fact, he has asked me to try and get a game against one of the English countries for him at the earliest. He is now doing some interview with the German television and radio, he is happy because 17 of the 21 players are playing in England.

"They know the English style, the English system, and therefore as far as he is concerned, it is a plus for us. So Leo is extremely pleased. And Paraguay we have beaten already, and they are not the best team in South America anyway, and then we also know that England has not been able to beat Sweden.

"...We have seen them play, we know their players, we know their system, and it is a plus for us."

Warner is also boasting a good showing for T&T against the Europeans.

"The England supporters were saying poor England. They weren't saying poor Trinidad and Tobago, they were saying poor England. Whether they were being facetious or not, it was a good sign for us.

The Swede (official) is (FIFA's) Lennard Johansson, and Johansson shook my hand, and he said of course Jack we will now see on the field of play who is the better team. And I said to him "Johansson, I have beaten you in debates in FIFA, and I will beat you on the field of play..." Warner quipped.

I'm living the dream

Chris Birchall on draw

Saturday, December 10th 2005

CHRIS Birchall declared he was "living the dream" after Trinidad & Tobago were drawn in Group B with England in next summer's World Cup Finals.

The Port Vale midfielder helped the Caribbean country clinch a place in Germany and admits he can't wait for the clash with Sven Goran Eriksson's side in Nuremburg on June 15th.

Birchall-who qualifies for his adopted country through his mother-was plucked from obscurity earlier this year when he was handed an unexpected international call-up.

And he said: "It is just the best possible draw. When the slip came out with Trinidad's name on my mates said I am living the dream and I am.

"For the first ten seconds I was running around the bar but it hasn't really sunk in yet. I will be lining up against the players I watch week in and week out in the Premiership."

And Birchall warned England they could be in for shock if they underestimate their Group B opponents.

He added: "It's the best possible group for us. No one knew anything about us before the draw for the qualifying group but we caused a few upsets and we beat Mexico when they put out a full strength side.

"We'll just go there to enjoy it and there will be no pressure on us."

Triniman yuh only helping out meh argument with the Senegal example.
The English might only hear about our players scattered around their leagues but they don't know what T&T could do as a unified team. Eriksson and all say he eh know much about them. De artcile say we qualify through de 'back door of the playoffs', implying that is a weak way to qualify. Dey go say that against Spain? Australia? Dey went through playoffs too. All in all, keeping in mind the likes of Yorke, Hislop, Stern, Latas, Edwards and dem under the guidance of ah coach who has proved himself, England can't say dey will pull a 4-0 win easily jess so. As if we is some League 2 team playin Chelsea. There is ah big difference between reality and unfounded overconfidence.

Since when I name Triniman?  :-\ Buh yeah, ah agree with yuh.

Sorry dey Toppa, ah dunno how ah could forget you was a woman. Pretty one too.  ;)

Yorke DID owe a lot to the Man U midfield. If it wasn't for Giggs, Keane, Beckham and Scholes, Yorke wouldn't have had so many goals. Manchester United strugglin dese days b/c their midfield is not optimum and Rooney not getting as much help.
I already gave a rational explanation why England shouldn't feel they could beat us 4-0. It is IRRATIONAL to say that they CAN so confidently.

But Yorke was a striker not so? Isn't that what ALL strikers have to do? Rely on the mid-filed to pass them the ball so dey could score dey goal?

France were not cocky...the commentators calling the game were, the media were, but not the French. In fact France were panicking because Zidane was badly injured against Korea in their final warm up and he was not a certainty to even play.

Also, we are not Senegal. Much of Senegal's team was made up of men playing in the French first divsion, some of whom were French citizens who grew up playing against their friends on the French national team. They knew what they were facing and were quitely confident (20 out of 23 were based in France). Our players are not going into the WC with anywhere near the same pedigree. Is the rest of the world that was ignorant about Senegal...not the French. Vieira whose parents are Senegalese was tellign people to watch out for them.

i hope we pull off a monumental upset. if we tie England..it is a monumental upset. i sayiing this to people who actually want to talk and analyze football in a rational educated way and not jes rah rah cause they feel the squad does read everything we say. anything can happen in football..and dat is our hope, but people who talk football are not going to shy away from analyzing our chances....and all over the world, the answer is going to be the same.

Is the same thing dis rounds breds. The English media, etc.

Ah say lemmeh calm down before I respond to dis article.

The English really think they can beat us 4-0 and beat Paraguay 2-0.

I have confidence in we players, I have confidence in Beenhakker's guidance, and I feel we go make them eat their words.

why would the english not think they cant beat us 4 nil .Please explain why? hey i support trinidad and tobago but i am also a rational person full stop.

Remember last world cup...France vs Senegal? The French were just as cocky as the English are now.

If its the ioCp why then its only focuses on TnT?
What is the purpose of the site?
Has any solution to the problem been suggested?
Has any assistance been offered?
The Motto says:
Working for Equality and Justice for all People of the Caribbean
 How is this being done?

That site is ah joke and ah believe it politicall motivated. Talking about ethnic discrimination, democratic governance, etc. Sounding just like something UNC people would say.
