Football / Re: Jabloteh boot out North East
« on: November 28, 2005, 09:24:09 PM »
From what I have seen of Marcano, he is looks like a slightly smaller version of Aurtis Whitley, it was just amazing to see them play together as they could be mistaken for brothers but Marcano is busier and runs a lot more. Marcano also has dreads/plaits/screw or whatever and loads of dribble, plays on the left for Jabloteh, he has a loping run (something like Nedved) with head slightly bent (unlike Whiittley who has a more upright posture).

He has speed but his one problem is that he hangs unto the ball for too long and draws a lot of tackles.

He needs some more size and some polishing up on his passing but with the ball at his feet he is very good.

Jabloteh, Defence Force reach FA final.
By: Nigel Simon (Guardian).

San Juan Jabloteh and Defence Force Professional Football League clubs both advanced to tomorrow’s T&T Football Federation Simpaul Travel FA final after similar 2-0 semifinal wins.
This was in a double-header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya on Sunday.
In the first match of the evening, the Defence Force PFL players got first-half goals from Devon Jorsling and Christon “Paw Boy” Baptiste to shut out their Northern Football Association’s Defence Force counterparts.
The match was only three minutes old when striker Jorsling fired his team into the lead.
However, the Defence Force NFA players never dropped their heads and boosted by the determination of winger Sterling O’Brian created a few nervous moments for goalkeeper Cleon John, the hero of the Defence Force PFL-outfit penalty-kick quarter-final win over VIBE CT 105 W Connection in the previous round.
Baptiste, the brother of Jabloteh midfielder Kerry Baptiste made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when he confidently blasted in a left footed penalty-kick sending goalkeeper Shurland Wheeler, the wrong way.
The kick was awarded after Wheeler, the hero in his team’s quarterfinal win over Maraval Youth Academy, upended midfielder Christopher Durity in the 18-yard box.
Defence Force, without any major success in two years are assured of a spot in the FA final, the most prestigious competition in local football.
However judging by their performance over the 80 minutes of the match, they will need to double their output if they are to lift the title.
The feature match between last year’s FA winners National Quarries North East Stars and Jabloteh also got off to a lively start, for another reason.
After coming close to finding an opening goal within the first five minutes, Stars were then reduced to 10 players after the expulsion of central defender and captain Charles Pollard by referee Shane De Silva for an off the ball incident.
Stars were awarded a free-kick just outside the top right hand corner of the Jabloteh penalty-area and while setting up his defensive line, Jabloteh defender Ronald Primus was allegedly struck by Pollard, himself a former Jabloteh player.
Because her back was turned to the incident, De Silva went over to referee’s assistant Solomon Brewster to enquire about the incident and after a few seconds of deliberation, she walked over to Pollard and handed him his marching orders.
This did not go down too well the Stars supporters, who from then on continuously hurled insults at the female official and Brewster.
Members of the Jabloteh administration who were seated in the main stands were also the subject of some abusive language from some irate Stars fans.
Within a few minutes Primus was again the centre of attention when he was whistled for a foul on Anthony Wolfe inside the penalty-area.
But instead of pointing to the penalty-spot De Silva awarded an indirect free-kick, which was skewed wide by Stars player/coach Jerren Nixon.
Gary Glasgow then had the match’s first clear cut chance to put Stars ahead but after wrong-footing defender Keyeno Thomas, he scuffed his right footed attempt straight at goalkeeper Daurance Williams from less than 10-yards out.
Jabloteh meanwhile had little to show for their efforts up front as strikers Kerry Noray and Jason Marcano were often left isolated and proved to be non-effective against the 10-man Stars and the teams went in goal-less at the end of the first 40-minutes.
Four minutes into the second-half, Aurtis Whitley combined with Marcano to put Jabloteh ahead.
Whitley, a key member of the history making Soca Warriors, collected the ball just inside Stars half, and worked his way to the edge of the penalty-area before squaring to an unmarked Marcano, who wasted little time in blasting a right footed shot past Stars goalkeeper, Trevor Nottingham.
With time running out, Nixon replaced himself with the younger and equally lively Kendall Jagdeosingh while Brent Antoine came in for Walter Moore.
However, they were quickly reduced to nine men, when goalkeeper Nottingham foolishly retaliated against a seemingly fair challenge outside the area from Jabloteh winger Cyd Gray, another locally based member of the senior national team.
Nottingham hit Gray in the back of his head right in the view of De Silva and was given his marching orders.
And with four minutes left on the clock Noray sealed the win for Jabloteh when he was on spot to tap home from less than six yards out after stand-in goalkeeper Kevin Jeffrey had done well to keep out an attempt from Jabloteh’s substitute, Nigel Codrington.
Tomorrow’s final will be the fourth of the season for Jabloteh, who won the PFL Pro Bowl final beating W Connection 1-0 in the final.
However, they were also beaten by W Connection in the First Citizens Bank Cup and Toyota Classic deciders and have little chance of winning the Big Six competition, so they too will be hungry for the FA trophy.

Sunday’s T&TFF FA Trophy result Semifinals

Defence Force (PFL) 2 (Devon Jorsling 3rd, Christon Baptiste 25th pen) vs Defence Force (NFA) 0.

San Juan Jabloteh 2 (Jason Marcano 49th, Kerry Noray 76th) vs North East Stars 0.

Up Close with Solo.

I'll keep it short for now cause I'm tired.

The score was 2-0 . Marcano and Noray scored for Jabloteh.

It was a physical match just like the last one between these two. North East had two players sent off including their goalkeeper who cuff Cyd Gray behind his head and saw red. That man really brave boy to run down behind Cyd Gray who had his back to him and just cuff him down so. But , a fight did not break out, everybody kept calm and the referee did her thing.

Whitley was in fine form setting up the goals and gving them trouble all night. First half he played defensive midfield but second half he played as a forward and looked very comfortable. Jeffery kept goal for Stars after their goalkeeper was sent off and didnt do a bad job. Stars made some stupid substitutions ( took out the two players who were playing the best ball) but it was really Jabloteh that dominated in terms of possession. Overall there were not many shots on goal and the ground (Marvin Lee) was very uneven.

I know we should not compare but I wonder what was Jamaica's budget ;D

I find it amazing that the likes of Togo will be spending more than we will. Is that really true? ::)

Rastafari,

The TTFF could not have started scouting 'Unknown Players' as yet for the very reason that these players are,....well 'unknown'.

I think you are trying to ask whether they have started a list of some sort for persons ( interested persons, coaches ane players themselves) to have players listed that are not as visible i.e have not yet played for the national team.

Basically I think they should create two lists, one of players who have already played national whether they are currently on or off the radar and another list of names of talented hopefuls who have never played for national but are visible in action in some league somewhere and can be scouted (including the Birchalls).

Some of these players from the second list should be encouraged to return home and do training stints with good local clubs in Pro and Super League e.g Jabloteh, Army Rangers, Joe Public, so that local scouts will see them and they will be a bit more visible to the local coaching staff. You can be the most talented player but if you are only heard about and not seen by those who matter - you will not get a cap.

Football / Re: Where are the youths? Beenhakker speaks out
« on: November 27, 2005, 03:25:10 PM »
No one has mentioned that right at home, there are some Pro League and Super League clubs with very strong youth systems and good youth teams that really need support and international exposure.

That is one place that Beenie could start looking which together with the overseas based players (Miguel etc) would give us at least a database to work from.

That Army team is full of surprises but the licks for connection is not unexpected. It is good for the competitiveness of the league that not only Jabloteh can beat them whenever they want to but now also United Petrotrin, North East Stars and now Defence Force show that they could step up and beat them too.

« on: November 26, 2005, 12:27:14 PM »
Is either Yorke alone or the entire team should get it!

Yorke stands out for me though. Dat man fly from quite Australia to set an example and run hard for 90 minutes of every game as captain then fly back and play for his club and score goals for them without flinching - that is an example for de young footballers in the country. It was his cornerkick that went to Lawrence. When yuh want something bad enough set no limits on your ability.

Football / Re: Who here does actually go PFL game?

Not a bad idea ;D Ponnoxx but I'm sure those games dont have as much action as a Jabloteh game with the likes of Aurtis Whitley lighting up de midfield and terrorizing people, Kerry Noray breaking men ankle in de middle and Josh Johnson outsprinting men like crazy on de wing.

Dem Jabloteh games does be real crazy fun boy. :rotfl:

Aligning with a single school might be hard  but it is not a bad idea. Jabloteh have youth player in many of the schools like Murcurapo, Fatima etc and I was told that the club actually directly assist San Juan Senior Comp. and St. Augustine that is probably one reason why they did so well this year. In fact Grayson ( from St Augustine) is Jabloteh's youth technical director so it makes sense anyway.

Ponnoxx this original post is so old. ;D I dont have nothing against South men. I called it as I saw it back then in June. Now I think the 11 would be very different with all the new men in the league which would only be a good thing.

I attended quite a few Jabloteh games in the Pro League and only paid $10. I support Jabloteh whenever I could because I know they have good games is always action when Jabloteh playing.

Sometimes Jabloteh give away hampers at their league games. When they have knock-out competitoins they have a lot of giveaways from sponsors. The league does little marketing really they could do much better. The better action is in the knock-out cups but they have to do more about promoting the league.

Wow! Big up Whitley - going places, I know he can play on any side in the world and add value.

I read the articles on him dere. I didnt  even kow Jabloteh had all dem stars for such a long time now. Eight years de man playing fuh Jabloteh!

We could probably field a whole national side from Jabloteh alone.

OKAY OKAY now......all is well ;D, Jack will be back in a few days and it will all be over.

Dundee Mad I read the comments and at the start I think it id appear that you were a bit too zealous in making your point but you recovered well to state your case clearly. I am proud of how fiercely defensive our posters are of any perceived attack on players, country etc.

Constructive criticisms, congratulations, adulations, comments jokes, piccong etc are always welcome on the site created by two genuises with foresight (Tallman and Flex) to celebrate our love for the beautiful game.

We are all about love in T&T....no hating so lets all shake hands a make up I'm sure the Scotsman meant no harm neither did our posters mean any harm with using certain types of language to describe your posts. Its a lovely time in T&T now everybody jus smiling and going on like we in heaven already.....all is forgiven, all is forgotten and like de Prime Minister said two days ago - football has united the country in a way no politician has ever done....

Leh we keep it suh fellas....one love ;D

Go SocaWarriors

78
I know for sure that there is more talent in the Pro League he can unearth and train....

a speedy forward - Kerry Noray  ( de man score a hattrick last night in a FA Cup game)

a right defender - Attiba Charles ( as a back up for Gray)

a left defender - Nigel Daniel & Glenton Wolfe ( I personally think Daniel is better than Wolfe because he and attacks and recovers well)

central defender - Keyeno Thomas

Sweeper - Dexter Franklyn ( de tall dread from Jabloteh)

Midfield - Theobald should definitely be in the mix as a main man and I think Kerry Baptiste is also good

Jack said yesterday that sometime soon he will announce the big team we will play in March - that team may be Brazil which would be a big one to pull off but would be great if it happens.
