shittttt..any team coached by alvin corneal steupssss...expect a low level ..dispite whatever talent or lackthereof he has at his disposal ..and to think men want him to coach at the senior level .....No trini team should be getting those kindas licks from any concacaf opposition ....you cant recover from a 7-0 drubbing ..goal difference very important in these competitions ..In any case good luck to the youths next time round ..our prepartions for youth torny as well as any other torny are well below our neighbours ..sooo only one result really should be expected ..as i said before to the youths ..keep your heads up and go again ..

sandoooo you playing devil's advocate aight...well i really dont have me stat sheet right here in front of meh butttt..i have been around the scene for a while now and i usually do a good job of evaluating coaches but how their team plays .For corneal to get the top job dont he have to produce and the bottom job first ?? it isnt ok just to be around but u have to prove worthy ..i simply dont think he has produced enough goods ..as for the other posters comment bout varnes not being able to handle foreign players ..i think that can be said for alot of coaches ..i think he simply expected men to behave like men..instead they choose to break camp etc ..but his teams have always played attractive "trini" football. if im not to far off i believe he was in charge of the u 23 team that had dwarika , evens wise , mulrain , garcia etc and that team was the best youth team ive seen play in trini barring the present youth team which i havnt seen ..

sand prince ...i have a very good reason why corneal shouldnt be anywhere near a national team ...the reason is "favoritism" ...il take you back to a time when corneal was in charge of the u 20 team with rising stars such as brent rahim , nigel 'crock" , adei rique forgive the spellings ..etc ..on that team he also had outstanding individuals from the south land such as vijay samaroo from pres , micheal forgenie good left back from pres, addison belfone  right back from benedicts and a very very good central/midfield general type player from princess town senior cant remember his name right now ...guesss who many south players made that team ??? zerooo.guess what that u 20 team accomplished ??? zerooo...but what i thought was funny was that the very next year he was in charge of joe public fc and he then invited all those south players who he discared from the u 20 team ..i guess they were good enough for joe public but not for the u20 incidently that team were actually better with those players included ..i challange you to name 5 players he has nutured and any measure he has achieved with any national team or any team for that matter ..i would really like to see his accomplishments ..in any case a youth coach has a very very important role in the development of a player and i havnt seen any fruits he has produced ...as usuall i accept commments ...Go warriors..

Football / Possible new coaches for the Soca Warriors
« on: March 30, 2009, 04:56:24 PM »
heres the thing ..i dont usually post unless i have ah good point but i am an avid stalker so to speak of the website lol ...It seem to me after umteenth amount  of games one glaring problem still exists withing the TNT camp..We can go on and on about personnel and positions but we all know that is the marginal issue.. the real issue is the "intensity" of the team when it matters..it seem to me that the team isnt psychologically ready to play ..for example we play at the same low intensity agains bermuda as we play against usa in the first leg..and only after we have been scored upon that we are basically jolted into a higher gear...it doesnt matter who or what players are rotated into position around the field or on the squad ..its the fact that we cannot seem to switch to a higher game speed...for any athlete to improve you have to practise and play at the very limits of you ability and only then can you push beyond and improve ..for example you cannot bench press 150lbs all your life and come the next week and try 300lbs ..it wont happen ....it is either our practise sessions are not at the appropriate level of intensity , therefore the players cannot raise their game collectively or the team 'psychologist" isnt very good ..this is assuming we have one ..if not we need one ...
I know it is not practical to change the coaching staff at this point ..but i think Zoran varnes deserves his shot at the national level ..he has consistantly shown that he can get the best out of our youth players in the past and i have to say play "trini" attractive football. He has been around the local seen for a long time and i believe he understands our mentality and can get the best out of our players. So at some point soon i would like to see him at the helm.. waiting on leo is pie in the sky and although latas may have some ideas i think he should coach consistantly at the club level first then attempt international football. as usual questions or comments are always appreciated ..Go warriors !!!!!!

whitley is one of the few players worth his salt on de present team, the others to me are stern, ince and lawerence and i can stretch for kenwayne  the rest are basic at best.. others might say carlos edwards but ive yet to see da brotha cross the ball consistanly to be regarded as one of the better players, if hes not crossing for the forwards and hes not tracking on defence then he's a liability .. again let the real men stand up !! that all im saying..

Football / here is my problem with our national team !!!
« on: June 21, 2008, 04:23:55 PM »
Ok my underlying problem with our national team really isnt that the players lack attitude or grit or skill but the inherent mentality style of the players that are being picked to represent T&T. for instance iam 34 yrs old and i started watching ball seriously around the time of  the 89 world cup qualifiers or just before and as my football education grew, to me it seemed that the players were tougher back then both physicall and mentally ..they played for the shirt first and for most part gave the public a good showing...They didnt win all their games obviously but for the most part i was hardly ever dissapointed in the effort that was put out by our players. regardless of our opposition our players played hard and gave 100% thats why in many cases we were able to pull out victories when defeat seemed imminent. I remember for certain players like that i admired like hudson charles, marvin fustin, brian williams, elliott allen, leonson lewis,  kerry jameson too name an few ...made the national team through hard work and played hard and tough every game because the country was watching and they had pride when they put on the red white and black. The team was a team of "workmen" firstmen that came out to battle for a victory as any national team worth their salt did. so therefore everyone knew what it took to make a national team and what was expected when u step on the pitch. To get there you had to have the right mix mentally and physically and u have to be able to play the game. as the old guard changed and new players like anthony rougier, richard theodore, jerren nixon, reynold carrington angus eve etc  came in  they played with the same "never say die" attitude because the same influences from the former era still remaind therefore they carried on that tradition. Now our national team has been watered down with horrible players over the years maybe horrible to strong a word, but players that had no business being on a national team anywhere such as and i will call their name , terry st louis, ricardo aleong, kerwyn jammot, "chubby" i forgot his real name, derrik king, gary glasglow, brent rahim,  nigel pierre, just to name a few and constantly neglect players of real quality,.For instance how is it possible a player like "aurtis whitley" flew below the rader for so many years although he was on a national u17 team a player like him should have been on the national senior team along time ago it  should be a shame on our local coaching establishment, now he is in his 30's with not much more to offer. But i digress, my point being we managed to pull out spectular victories to take us through to the world cup because "leo" basically galvanised us by getting the team to believe in his philosophy and having a workman like attitude together with the influence of yorke and latapy from a bygone era. they are gone now and now it is glaring that our team has no identity no team chemistry and no clear leadership on and off the field. There is no good national team is comprised of 11 sunday league players and our present team has roughly 8 as i see it. We need to go back to the time when men were picked to represent our country and not boys.

aight guys i dont know if anyone still visiting tis thread buti know butch lauffer personally for bout 8 yrs  some years ..and although him and me had our differences way back and he had to hold some cuss also from other trini's who he brought up to ..he still stick with we for some reason although he ketch real hell from we ..any way personal issues aside though his teams usually play with structure and very desciplined which is what our youth teams are lacking ...on a personal note i think he has ambitions of being an international coach so i believe this is a way for him to get his foot in da door ..you cant blame a man for having ambitions ..watch him move up ..!!!

Football / Re: Justa Jack question ??
« on: May 26, 2008, 09:37:50 AM »
Sub dat is ah good one but im neither a supporter or ah detractor of jack ..plenty ah de tings jack do i does scratch me head ..sometimes bawl but people who own things have a right to do what they please with it ..and we all know dat jack really owns or has a controling intrest in  T&T football..Dats why we does be so upset ..well i dont anymore since i came to dat reality.. As much as we dislike da guy i really dont see us forging ahead when his time is up in da absence of a real structure. Shah post is kinda funny ..yes off course life goes on and in some cases one dictator is replaced with another we all no dat..and u really cant compare trini with "manu" or 'chealsea" dat one laughable but no progress is made without de right structure in place. as we saw chealse still retained da same high standard even after "the special one" and alex could take a day off and nothing would change simply because the system is forged.Every time we have a tourny across all divisions and age groups we are always starting over from square uno ..we'll never move forward if we are allways  taking 2 steps back..!!!! maybe dis time go be different ..!! just for da record i always support meh warriors whole hearted my first game to watch T&T play was we against East Germany in de stadium and after dat i gladly give Jack much of my hard earned dineros ..

Football / Justa Jack question ??
« on: May 26, 2008, 07:46:22 AM »
So guys we start once again on de road to de world cup and before we head out i already know it go be one ah dem ups and down trips dat we all like ..but before we go i was just wondering since i does read all de post about jack warner di and jack warner dat ..if anyone out there really believe that once jack decides to hang up him boots for good and i think dat day aint to far from now ..dat T&T  football would be any better offf??? Just curious. I know dat jack deserves allota de stick he does get and in my humble opinion he gives with his left and takes with his right ...which is de official way of fifa ..a very corrupt organisation..I really glad that we get an oppertunity to play England but it couldnt come at a worse time for us really ..Our team has no identity no team chemistry not to mention ahost of other problems since its relativly new ..But England needs votes to host the  world cup after next and jack using TTFA as his own private company always needs dinero's to line him pockets ..whats new ??? In any all dat would come to a screaching halt when Jack moves on by either retiring or passing..and then what would become of our sport ...since our federation has up till now has no system off tracking our youth players development from U14 up senior ..our local league is really a joke and usually the best youth players are also decent academically so they move on to the US college and den dissappear soooo and the players that do represent the country are treated poorly ..So it begs da question what would happen to trinidad football when Jack goes to de big Stadium of Light in da Sky ...???

                                                                                     Go Warriors !!!

Touches i agree with you 100 % . The purpose of school is really to engage in academics but also to develop yourself and your talents. The problem i have with the heavy focus in highschool  football in TNT is the level of "exploitation" by school administrators. I know in my time at school "St Benedicts College" it was really blatent. I would like to see the focus really shift from the school system to the clubs.

oh man allyo is real trouble yes ..any ways i was also at that U 20 game in de stadium against the brazilians and i had the good fortune to have the technicall report given to coaches about the tournament and there was no Ronaldo or Ronadinho in their squad at the time in any case the couple players of note who went on to have good careers were Roberto Carlos Elber and the central midfield player i think is Marcelihino i could have the spelling wong oh and DIDA , also you would not like to know what the technical report said about Trinidad and Tobago .. Oh the other posters are right Brent sancho was definately not on that squad ..com'on man he would have to be 13 or 14 ...that was in 91 for christ sake our defenders were nigel davidson, shawn boney, dale boucher, etc

lol ah reading these responses and meh belly bussing with laugh ....but the fact is "Wise" is the only other active professional oversees that the administration havent called up to take a look at. In the end i feel we should leave no stone unturned. The situation we are in is of our own making, simply because of how we traditionally handle our talent ..as though we have an endless supply . Well now the "well has run dry" we have no option but to  dredge up ageing "stars" and put square pegs in round holes and hope for   something special ....Imagine if some "formites" had their way Latapy Yorke and Nakid would all be playing....All of them on the wrong side of 30  .We are in this mess because of our woeful lack of planning and development and petty politics which have for so long prevent our sport from going places.  A  world cup campagin is no place to begin "blooding" players ..that should have been done long before this stage so what are we left with since the local players obviously not at the level and too risky at this point..but to call on players who have been playing their trade in a professional setting and hope the transition is easier...So to that again I say  "SOS TONY ROUGIER & EVANS WISE"?

« on: July 20, 2005, 11:39:49 AM »
I think this is the way forward for football in the region. I think that the islands are to small in population to suppot their own league and having a regional league would be better for football. I was supprised to know what professional player are making in jamaica ..practically nothing many players have second jobs. So i think havin a 15 team league spread throughout the caribbean including Cuba and Martinique and Haiti could only improve football in the region. 1) Quality of players because the best players from these islands would be on these teams.2)  Players would make better living.3) Crowd support would improve drastically. etc Actually i only see the up sides ...we need fresh ideas at the helm ...What you guys think ....laterzzzzzzzzz

Football / Re: JAN STEADMAN AS HEAD COACH
« on: July 20, 2005, 11:30:03 AM »
As a former benedicts ole boy ..i have too say that i may be a bit partial about the whole Jan Steadman thing ..but here goes ...i remember asking Jan about this very topic years ago. I believe that Jan would make an excellent "youth" coach because lets face it many young men grow up without a father figure in the home ..and Jan was the father for many of us.. he would cuss you out when you needed to be cussed out "of which i have many stories" and "guzzi" and he would praise you when you deserved it. but he was fair at all times ... a youth coach in TNT has to command the respect and admiration of the players because of our social dynamics he becomes much more. In any case he was offered an assistant youth coaching job some time back but as usuall in TNT jobs are expected to be done for "free" which he declined to do..

Football / Re: "SOS" Rougier & Evens Wise
« on: July 13, 2005, 09:23:10 PM »
boy... i real glad i bring up them two names cause it just shows how easily and without regard we "TTFA" discard our players which has resulted in our lack of talent and the present state of football locally....since the strike squad the powers that be have shown a woefull lack of vision and responsibility as caretakers of the sport i love ..every time a world cup comes around it seems like we are starting over from scratch .with new players and the same old merry-go round. I know more about the US development system and players than my own country's. I remember when i saw Landon donovan , damarcus beasley , and bobby convey at the youth level it was obivious that one day these guys would lead the US national team even at U17 level and you can see that continuation going on today with ADU, Spector and Jaqua amongst others ...My question is where are our players from that same age group and tournment..? i count one "Jones". What we are seeing now is the result of poor management ..and poor managers must go !!!!!!!    Now i understand that not everybody can go on to be a professional footballer but with careful stewardship of our youth some would make it, and the fact that so many of our players struggle at the professional level and our teams constantly exit tournaments early at all levels shows that we lack basic fundamentals, and our coaches are lacking and nieve....SO having said that what are we too do, but do the best we can with what we have...so if de man playing competitively i say bring de man back ... so SOS WISE and ROUGIER !!!!!  so beenie man could have ah look it still have time ....laterzzzzz... guzzi whey yah !!!!

Whey sah i cant believe de formites crying down Evens Wise.....Jayerson ..when i say bring back Wise you make it sound like i mean bring him back out of retirement ...as far as i know the oldest Evens Wise could be is 30yrs ...same as nixon same as dwarika younger than yorke and shaka but they still playing ..men still calling for latapy ??? he not to old??? but any way please tell me another player better on the left for us than him ....I with you Bally !!!!!

Football / Re: "SOS" Rougier & Evens Wise
« on: July 13, 2005, 01:00:37 PM »
yeah tongue!!! i know what ah saying ..ah go take some heat ..but if we trying out best we try him too ..ah hoping he mature a little but how we go really know ...as far as i see it he cyar be any worse than theobald , rahim, or gray ...so what you think.....the positive with him is that you know he going to take on the opposition and provide a different attacking options, he not afraid to play ...unlike these other men.......remember people we 'not that good" and we cant continue to discard players the way we do that why we still dipping back into the 89 gene pool for players...ie yorke, latapy, nakid..if you check it ..where are the outstanding players since then..i count to dog and stern and too a lesser extent nixon and dwarika...so i think we should revise our way of dealing with our own talent and bring back "Evens Wise" if he's still playing competitively because lets face it our league isnt that good or else our talent would be better ...

Football / Re: "SOS" Rougier & Evens Wise
« on: July 13, 2005, 08:40:03 AM »
ah think allyo going with the evens wise from long ago ....i agree that was the man M.O long time but i feel that is something we need in our game now ..someone to take the team on their shoulders and be the man...as for rougier ..a player whos game is about hussle whould always have something to add to a team not everday your touches would be on but everyday you could hussle and tackle and put yourself about thats why defensive players have a longer shelf life ...anyway fellas we running out of options and at this point we should give everyman their fair shake ..laters..
