General Discussion / Re: Barack Obama: one term or two?
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:37:06 PM »
Well if the 1st year of his term is any indication then 1 term for sure !!!
Almost everything he's done in the last year has mostly benefited the big businesses and not the common man (who were his main supporters thru the campaign).
I think everyone is kinda seeing now that he really wasn't up to job and basically won the election because he is a fantastic public speaker, has the best speech writer and had the race card & white guilt behind him.

I really don't care. He has done what everyone thought was impossible. Maybe a next Black man or woman president may get elected when the economy is in a better position and can ride into 2 terms.

Please tell me you living somewhere in rural Trinidad and not in the US. Who cares if he's black. Us as Trini's should have learned our lesson a long time ago that race politics will get you no where

Following the highly anticipated US Tour of the English Premier League’s Chelsea Football Club to the US for “friendly” matches in summer 2009, one loyal, yet unexpected, fan’s enthusiasm has spurred the creation of a limited-edition shoe to celebrate the camaraderie of sport. Long standing CFC fan, NBA All-Star Kevin Garnett was the inspiration behind the new CFC-themed adidas TS Commander LT.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / Re: Soca's "lack of success"
« on: December 17, 2008, 05:00:13 PM »
IMO Soca's downfall has a few factors
1. People dont understand what the hell we sayin. I remember when Kevin Little's song was getting popular here in NY all dem lil high school skets thought he was sayin "Tamia...tamia"...lol

2. WE (trini people as a whole) are wayyyyy too "small minded". When Machel had his 1st 2 sold out shows in the theater in MSG it was GREAT. Minshall did the costumes . They was the BET special. Press conference & in-store at J&R.....now what does he do the following year? Instead of thinking progressively and trying to either get the actual arena in MSG, or even a better venue they simply had a cheaper, less put together carbon copy of the original shows...and then charged more $ for the tix

3. Marketing $$$$$$$$$$$$....instead of "poppin bottles" in Zen and buying "brands" on Flatbush our soca "stars" need to think about investing in their future. In this day & age i find it an utter shame that almost NONE of these guys have an up to date website (and NO !, myspace does not count). How is it that 2 girls could poop in a cup & MILLIONS of people see it online yet a Bess thing like Destra (who would murder Britney in a singing/dancing/looks competition) cant build a bigger online fan base?

4. DIVERSITY IS THE KEY PEOPLE...Rupee get some shine Tempted to touch, but "jump" was the real soca hit. All this FFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE non-sense these men singing bout might be ok if I muddy and tryin to flex on ah bad ting from lavantil, but who the hell want to listen to somebody like Iwer in their ipod on a Monday morning while going to work?

5. MAYBE...just MAYBE soca music isnt as good as we think it is? I mean hands down Machel have crazy energy on stage but is his or ANY of the current soca "stars" actually making good music?????

I remember a funny story about these 2 lovebirds from a while back-
In some speech that Patos give he describes Rowley (if i remember correctly) as his guard dog/ watch dog..he was the rotwilder of the PNM.
Anyways , some time after somebody take out an add in the newspaper for "DOG 4 SALE."
Say they selling a rot, described as loyal (but may turn on owner), nice black coat etc and they give the old PM house address & phone number...lol
I heard they had a lot of inquires about the dog..lol

10
Denise Belfon man...she have ah kinda ole wajang aura about her & i love it too bad. Like she's the kinda chick i could meet drinking a Stag by Lord street corner in San-Do, take she to eat ah KFC and then go spend the night in ah guest house somewhere in Central.
Hands down Denise is the sexiest thing in soca.

when de Police go up Lavantille and shoot man in they head just fuh liming on de block we doh complain, why? Because the men they killing most of the time is "badman"
Same here- all 3 of the guys were scumbag, drug dealing, fake thug gangsta wanna-be's. It have NOTHING to do with Black/White.
His family & his baby mama on tv every chance they get talking bout how unfair the justice system is but were they so vocal when Mr. Bell was committing crimes (FACT & A MATTER OF PUBLIC INFO) & being a degenerate?

nice to see trini represent but once again we show our small minded-ness...
this year's show (from what I hear/see) was basically brass fest on 34th st.
I went to the original show last year and it was fantastic !!!
This year it seems the folks involved just tried to cash in, but sacrificed on the quality & production.
If they were smart they would try to get the ACTUAL GARDEN space and have a well promoted, highly produced show. That would take soca to the nex level fuh sure !!!

15
yea man, the soca grammy was suppose to start this year but i aint know wat happen with that.
glad to see Stephen Marley get a grammy for Mind Contol, one of the best albums to come out inj the last 5 years

like i said before GROW UP FELLAS

allyuh men actin like if Fuentes is the man who keeping the players from getting the money.

man talkin like he should come out and bad talk his bosses (THE PEOPLE THAT SIGNING HIS PAYCHECK EVERY WEEK)
allyuh mad

so lets say he does come out and say TTFF wrong and he stand with the players and they SHOULD GET THE MONEY THEY DESERVE wat allyuh think that go really prove?

allyuh forget is trini the man livin. So wat, he go leave a REALLY GOOD job to go back workin for the flickin guardian??? get serious , go from covering games all over the WORLD to covering some half assed pro league in arima?????

it real easy to say "have some principals, draw the line somewhere, stand up for what u think is right" BLAH BLAH BLAH....why allyuh doh ask all the men who wokin in the oil industry to fire they wok cause it killin the envirnment?

sometimes people jus have to learn to pick their fights and that is exactly what i think he doing.

besides the man could jus NOT be a trini football fan. MAYBE HE  IS AH CRICKET FAN and couldnt give ah rats ass about tnt football  ;D

20
why people actin like Fuentes doin something they never do before?
allyuh men need to grow up.
How many of allyuh ever do something cause u HAD to because of your job?
e.g. allyuh remember that NASTY curry kfc was selling?
The kfc worker go be like "yea boy, this real on. take ah taste" but they know it nasty...but it's their job to promote the product.

Allyuh want a solution try this-
from the time the kids born teach them to read so they wouldnt have to depend on kickin a ball to feed their family. this way when Jack want to pay them in Hops bread & kiss cake they could say "Hual yuh Mudder So & So"
