Football / Re: Ronnie Simmons, "I was disenchanted with TT football
« on: October 19, 2018, 10:52:44 AM »
I played against Ronnie many times in Under 14, Colleges League, University and as well as when he played for Queens Park.  He was an excellent player and definitely a player of who had the quality to be a standout national team player. He was an excellent defender who had ball playing ability and a great passing range.

It was always a surprise that he was not  given a chance to be a fixture on the National team but that is a broken record by now.

One reason for the decline of Malick, the entrance of schools like Morvant Laventille and Sucess/Laventille into the fray.
Where as before all the good players from around the area would go to Malick, now they are spread out between tthese three teams . So Malick will get three good ones and Morvant Laventille another two, three and so on. So it ending up with all of them being weak. This is going to start to happen with Mucurapo which used to get all the good players from Mucurapo Jr Sec, and Diego Martin Junior sec but now those schools are five year schools so no more conveyor belt.
At the same time the Ministry has been getting tough on the  multiple repeating so things just tough.
So I think that the CIC's and  QRC's will become more competitive in the next few years.

we need a coach who understands the culture of the people and can create or enhance the brand of football that is best suited to make the team successful, I think that Russell has the insights and know how to have this done and take the team forward in a positive way provided that he has matured and can put his demons to rest for the betterment of TNT football

Don' t get me wrong. I want Latas to succeed.
But you are saying that he has the insights and know how to take the team forward based on him being one of, if not, the best player we ever had and him being the assistant to the reserve coach at Falkirk?

Excellent analysis of the game, we looked far better organised than we looked against El Salvador.
While we  missed Dwight, Densil and Leon were competent in the middle and insured than we did not lose the middle of the field. The substitions were intelligent and timely.
Kenwyne look tired and clumsy.
Latapy has about 10 to 15 minutes in him and Hyland played with great confidence and drive. Can he do it for longer periods? It remains to be seen.
Daniel, I think has regressed and was a liability both going forward and coming back to defend.
We saw the difference between Jan Michael and Ince in the collecting of crosses.
In general, we were solid.Yes, we can be optimistic.

Football / Re: Keon Daniel and Jan Michael should not be
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:54:08 AM »
Bleeder was solid. Himself and Leon were solid in the middle. They were not overwhelmed in the midfield and were competent. They are both not Latapy so do not expect them to be. Daniel was bad going both ways.
I don't want to belabour the point but Carlos really needs to become a better crosser of the ball.

First off Stern had good game. One man did not lose the game for us.
In terms of the penalty as some else has said it is about momentum. If the penalty had scored. The spanish and dem would have folded their tent and gone home instead the crowd got life, and the spanish thought that they had gotten out of jail and the momentum shifted.

As to Stern and the penalty. Every one misses penalties.
My issue with the episode was that this is the Stern John who asked for the armband from the designated Captain in the Oval.

This is the Stern John and his pardners who run Keon Daniel who has scored freekicks for T & T ( while Stern is by no means a free kick specialist)
This is the same Stern John who goes up to his partner and asks him to take the penalty even though he knows that Yorke has been told by the coach to take all penalty kicks.
Anyone see a pattern of behaviour here?

I all 4 development but when everybody watchin d GC on tv who go b developin

great point!!! besides, edwards and some of these players are currently playing WC qualifiers so how is it they now trying to get "experience"?  :beermug:

But when should they be blooded. If we keep saying that we can't play them in the digicel because we have to qualify or for the Gold Cup. Then we will always be in the situation as we are in now in the really important WC qualifiers that we are having to rely on an increasingly older squad because there are no ready replacements you have the required experience. In the last World Cup we have the squad with the oldest average. And most of the key people in our squad are the same. Would you prefer Qualifing for the Gold Cup and still having to ask Tallest, Cyd and Avery to still make up our defense in the next WC qualifiers after South Africa?

Why is it so Hard to pick

--------Phillip--

Gray--Julias--Thomas--Avery

Hyland--Whitley--Leon--Wolfe
-----------Daniel
-----------Glenn

and i only picking that side and formation cuz of the squad chosen
Small mag yuh dun know is 2 doggone dummies running the football @ the moment, i can't believe is used to stand up for that clueless facker pancho.

to sit avery and cyd no matter how wild they are for power and aklie is share and utter incompetance, cluelessness and extreem madness.

sean power is ah big bum, and aklie is ah force ripe mango, the boy need more time on the tree to ripe.

the conventional way i know how players are bled is to play yuh best team and when they're blowing out the opposition yuh sub yuh most valued players for fear of injury , then yuh bring in yuh rookies for the last 15 mins to cap them and give them some experience. but this is ah first , yuh play yuh worst players first and leave yuh stallwarts on the bench.

corneal,(alvin & anton) jackn camps and pancho please f@ck off and leave we football to more sensable capable minds!!!!!!

While you may quible about the younger or less experienced defenders who could be selected to play but how does playing Cyd and Avery in a tournament of secondary importance to the World Cup qualifiers enable us give experience to young players at a higher level than the PFL?

Forbes and dem have to get off the Ganga for West Indies captain thing, it obscures all the other sensible things he says about TnT Cricket vs West Indies Cricket.
While I think that Ganga is probably one of the best leaders in the caribbean cricket scene, he is not A TEST calibre player. The days of when you played a player because he was just a good captain are long gone. Mike Brealey in the late early 80's being the last one. Ganga gets respect from the Tnt players in the regional game because he produces in the regional game, but he will be not be respected at the Test level because he does not produce.

Alyuh jes not serious.
Doesn't Whitley need as much match practice as possible?
Yes, it is an official tournament but compared to the WC qualifiers it is a practice match. One in which the coach can and should experiment with some players, give others a chance (Sealy) as well as get players who are recovering from injury, players who when fit would be on the WC squad playing time (Whitley).

There  is no need to worry about if he will get the blood that he needs because the blood bank will give him all the blood that he needs.
But the Blood Bank need people  to replace the blood that he has been given or will be given in the future.
So people go out and donate.

Is that a FIFA , TTFF, EFA rule or just a too blasted lazy to organize properly so if anything happen I go try this s**t rule?
When the league own the fields that the matches are playing on they can say that, but since they are taking a borrow they have to organize properly.

It is sad that the incident turned out that way.
BUT it is the responsibility of the League management (TTFF,EFA or whomever) to ensure that the administrative details such liaising with the Regional Corporations in relation to the booking and availability of grounds be done so that clashes such as this do not occur.
Administration is more that just drawing up fixtures and collecting registration fees, and hoping that when a conflict happens people will apply an unwritten rule.
This is symptomatic of the problem of football in this country. The over35 fetematch men  were more organized than the jokers who administer the league.

Any man who play at any decent level know that if you are on a yellow card, you can't a tackle like that on a man in the corner a few minutes after you just get the card. You are taking a huge chance. Yes, on all the replays we all see that he got ball. But I for one thought that he was in trouble when he pelt the tackle. You are playing away, You have to be disciplined. Dem spanish trying to get you sent off.
Nah the referee was not up to mark but Cyd let we down.

Daniel get a taste of de bench so he could understand de importance of de flank player at least thinking bout a defensive effort. Once he start doing that he cyah be left out of games like this cause he really have some talent on de ball. Mats, you or whoever pull de strings tonight get it very close to right with yuh decisions.

I agree.  It natural to question why Wolfe start ahead of Keon, especially as Keon has been our best player for the previous 3 matches.  However.....Keon's weakness is a serious liability for the team.  He does not come back to help his wing back and dat does cause we grief time and time again.  Is not because Wolfe is a better player.  Is because Wolfe will fulfill the role required of the wide midfielder BOTH WAYS more effectively than Keon.

In a game that we could not afford to lose, Wolfe for Keon was the correct tactical move IMO.  And allyuh know I is a big Keon fan.  I actually thought that Keon woulda come on fuh Latas when Latas got tired to play in de hole behind Scotty.  Den Cyd get send off and dat was dat.
Correct is right. Team selection was spot on and Pacho's response to events as they unfolded(ie the sending off) were again spot on. I don't believe that you could have had both Latapy (who does not have the legs to do any defensive duties) and Keon Daniel ( who neglects his defensive duties) on the field at the same time in Guatemala if we were not chasing the game.

24
We always knew that Russell was going to get a shot at the national team someday. He's not here to coach , but to motivate, just like he and Dwight did the last time - that's his magic.

Getting rid of Pacho now is going to be counter-productive, and keep Stern where he is, ah want speed upfront.

yeah Speed with no goals....

f**k off
Since Stern was dropped we have played 3 WCQ games and scored 4 goals. So I don't think that the team has missed Stern. Who we missed was Dwight in the US game.

The fella was born in Palermo,Italy, then raised from the age of two by his Italian parents. He speaks Italian with the accent of the region that he was raised in. And he is good.
He has been called up to the Italian under 15 and under 17 teams before but could not because of the citizenship issue. I think that his parents allowed him to be raised by the Italian family but did not allow formal adoption so he could not get citizenship until he reached 18 and could claim it himself.
The man is Italian whether or not none, some or all Italians are racist.
