Congrats to the lads, they really played their hearts out. I only hope this will continue and not abate after this victory, as we saw so many times before.

they need to play with this intensity in every game against every opponent, and not only show up when we pay a top notch team. btw andre Raymond though, what a find!

i think I also mentioned before that your chances of winning relies on the efforts of your goal keeper 50% of the time, and I’m really loving this young smart capable goal keeper, he’s a real welcome change.

Lil damo that is a good point.

Canadian Premier League has benefited us a lot. Teller, Rampersad, Shaw, Singh and A. Garcia, have raked in a lot of minutes there.

Reon Moore, now that is what I call overlooked or ignored talent. He'll tear up the Canadian Premier League and the USL easily. He's strong and fast. Can't recall seeing a player like that for the NT in a long time.

I feel some players go get a look after yesterday's performance. Denzil Smith and Reon Moore can be a good find for a team needing a good keeper and an attacking mid who can play striker.

No Levi Garcia. . I think that scoreline would have been 3 or 4 to 1.

Anyone see Panama and Costa Rica yesterday? If Mexico win, we might get Costa Rica. I like our chances of that is the case.

I don't think concacaf wants to chance it with Mexico. If alyuh know wat I mean.
you meant when mexico wins, honduras got lucky on Saturday and will suffer a crushing defeat tonight in Mexico.

Giving up three goals after 80 minutes of struggle is ridiculous. I Could understand one or maybe two, but three? i often wonder why these people so weak? Jamaica would have never done that. We trinis have no heart, absolutely zero bad mind in sports.

So tired losing against the US, especially when I know we can do way better
you’re telling me! and you would think that those idiots in port of Spain would have come up with a solution after 30 or more years of losing to these people, who play football/ soccer as a fifth place sport behind baseball, basket ball, football and ice hockey.

The reality is that you can’t have a “professional league” only running for 4 months out of the calendar year, with limited spectators, poor pitches, menial sponsorship, no developmental programs on a club level, just piss poor strategy all around,

and the real furkun knife twister is the dum dum football fraternity, the abject piss poor thinkers who have the power and the votes to make a difference, but instead fail football at every end with their petty childish idiotic hang ups.

If trinis had any love for that country, any pride in themselves and their nation and wanted better for their home land, then they would have got up off their asses two decades ago, put their silly differences aside and busted their buns….and not just for sports, but for every aspect of life, including safety and security.

the professional class has been failing that country since 1962 when the British walked away and left these thirsty hungry greedy corrupt people in charge of a beautiful country, a lush green wonderland surrounded by blue warm waters which they turned into a den of thieves. that’s why we would never beat the usa in anything.

Hope you guys don't come down on the lads tonight when the USA rain down goals on them. You already seen Angus submitting his excuse in advance, saying how the lads are out of season.

Coming to think of it, I've never heard this coach talking optimistic before any match he's over saw, and I doubt it's coaching strategy.

Angus didn’t put in his resignation yet?? as soon as fenwick was back from st kitts he announced his resignation and went back to his coaching school. that’s the problem with our local coaches, you have to pry their fingers away from the seat of power.

When fenwick flunked out of the competition, who mind you, was facing way more adversity than what angus faced with the pandemic and lack of funds, and even when he lost no games in qualifying, you heard all the football pundits and former players calling for Terry’s head, but usa slammed us with a 6 nil drubbing and for the first time jamaica beat us in a competitive match by so many goals, yet the place has an airy silence, not a single out cry from the local football gurus, not one. Where’s Brian Williams, where’s Clayton Morris? the double standard is real in la trinity. you better believe that.

Rampersad is better defensively and is the type of player that S Hart and A Eve like but M P Angeron is a much better all around player with more of a upside he is a better investment for the future the downside is if they bring back S Hart his chances of going abroad and developing would be over.

? ??? ??? ???
do you really take him seriously?? this man has been making some absurd comments for the little time I’ve been a member, and I’m yet to hear him make sense of any situation. He actually thought that jack warner was good for our football, that zoran vranes was the answer to our prayers and so many more senseless comments to the point where I total fly past his post, the same way fly past abttrini and controversial’s comments.

andre rampersad is a better player than angeron, rampersad is faster, a way better passer and dribbler of the ball, and he showed where he can be dangerous in front of goal. poon is a good, player but he lacks movement off the ball and loses possession quite frequently and needs to learn how to hold on to the ball, and he hardly shows any sign of scoring at the international level. I’ll take keron cummings over him any day.

Calling Stephen Hart. Your country needs you more than ever now!
calling steven hart for what mate? did you forget that the usa also drobbed steven hart followed by honduras and costa rica. we don't need no more plasters for sores, what we need is the cure.

if these clueless bastards didn't get the message by now which is that we need a better league with first class coaches and  developmental programs, then these teams will only get better and stronger and we will remain whipping boys until they wake up and decide to do something about it.

the government has to play a big role in this by implementing these programs because lets face it, no one else will. these business owners in trinidad cares nothing for sports, and football in general.

monkeys like selby brown and these old clueless farts who like to strut around as if they own football should not even be allowed to give their input, because they have failed us miserably with their foolishness.

i am telling you, if this didn't wake up these shameless baboons then i don't know what else will. just look at what DJW and jack warner has done with football, just shameless shameless people who have no clue what so ever. hope he pays for his evil that ole crook.

Yes Gomez stood out as well.

Some of our youngsters need to go out to leagues in Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, Norway, Austria, Serbia, Finland etc. Some of those leagues are noted for developing young players and the level of football is better than what we have. Our young players will benefit from moving early. Why don’t we see more movement into those types of leagues is my question.
why not fix our own league so we don't have to depend on these europeans to develop our players? it don't make sense having a ministry of sport while our sports men and women hardly gets to reap the benefits of the hundreds of millions in sport allocations annually, it's better if they scrap the sport ministry altogether and use the money to fix roads and ageing infrastructure if we are to be doing so.

these donkeys that they have in trinidad who crave publicity and positions of power, they are the people who are responsible for football's demise, because they keep voting their tired brainless friends into the seat of administrative power, and they have to shoulder the most blame for football's deplorable condition.

all these zonal bosses who can't see beyond their own selfish needs enabling people like jack warner and DJW to get rich off football and has done absolutely nothing to advance the sport, you are the reason why these lads go on TV and look bad, making them a laughing stock for people all over the world to see. hope you're proud of your legacy. take a bow.

I really really reallllly hope Eve is fired. The TTFA has yet again let down a crop of talented players…it’s unfortunate that our football has long long been in disarray and those responsible for improving our football are incompetent, literally taking away opportunities from the talented youths. It’s a sin, a crime!
what's even worst is that from james to warner and camps to DJW, they have never once approached the government to build schools geared especially towards football the number one sport in the country.

how could you compete with people who are spending hundreds of millions on sports? just look at TT sporting disciplines, they are all lagging behind. basketball, hockey, track and field, football, netball, you name it, we can't compete with people outside of the caribbean, they always show us up as laughable.

wrong day to get into this negative vibes, but eve "nobody expected us to get out of this group" comments after the jamaica loss.... reeks of same old "excuses eve". smh. moved his lips to the tune of "taking responsibility" for the loss, but never really did -- is the players who shittier than their jamaica / us counterparts etc.  [eve are you shittier than your jamaican / us counterpart?] Where is the we? win and lose together.

Captains!! -- Levi, JJ, Molino
Captains!! -- Alvin, Auvrey, Sheldon
Captains!! -- Hackshaw, Hodge
Captains -- Auvray, Shaw

the fans looking to you and we believe in you to lead us all the way.
eve is a rubbish coach hands down, and by your logic nobody expects us to get out of the group so just throw caution to the wind and in the process get routed by jamaica and a second string MLS team, that is where we reach, is that acceptable?

he had the same game plan as he did with jamaica, hope to score first then fall back and defend, when with a team like the usa you have to play with three defenders and flood the midfield with tacklers. every one knows that TT plays horribly with a 4 line back defense, and you could see the pattern of how they conceded in every game.

it's either they have too many players in the box or not enough at all, and that's because they never had a coach to properly organize their defense.

as it stands what we need is for those monkeys down there to revisit the advice of benhakker and wim and properly develop players and their league, just as how the usa did, and it took them 30 years to accomplish their goal, but now their labor is bearing fruit.

so stop with the excuses, angus, hate to say it mate but you're not ready for this level of competition, just like lawrence and latapy, so go back and gain some experience in a proper league and come again. hiring these inexperienced OJT local coaches just to cut corners has been a feature of our lazy cluelss federation heads, and it has proven to be a total embarrassment to our nation's image and the morale of the players and fans, that's why our stadiums are empty.

what we need is to develop our own players, build a solid league and spend money on the sport....which includes getting an experienced tactician to coach our MNT, and it will in turn pay back dividends down the road, as the saying goes, no pain no gain.

Shaw as a central striker doesn’t offer enough. We still need a proper striker as Shaw is not the answer. On a positive note, Alvin Jones was excellent except for the penalty.
what game did you watch mate? 4 of the 6 goals came from alvin jones' side of the field, the man is a nightmare. in every game that man gets caught out of position resulting in a goal, in fact that whole back line need changing with the exception of hodges, which reminds me, he did not have a good game but out played alvin jones by leaps and bound, i think you meant to say hodges and types jones instead.

At the hands of a OK team😅🤣😂 don't be little the Jamaican team, did you really watch the game Trinidad only manage 3 shot on goal!!! With 1 on target Jamaican have 12 shots on goal, with 7 on target Trinidad could've got about 8 Last night if it's was not for bad scoring of gold Bailey miss 2 clear chances Reid miss one and gray miss one also, our so- call team draw against USA a game that we should've WIN!!! Well since we're a ok team that draw with USA let see how Trinidad do against them, Trinidad is lucky that the Jamaican strikers in not clinical in front of goal, it  would've been a  embarrassing nigh for you all
hold on to your hat mate, no one is saying that TT are world beaters or even a formidable opponent, in fact as it stands we've been running on fumes the last 10 years or more, but it still doesn't change the fact that jamaica is just an okay team, and the proof is that this is your first win since last year, so don't get ahead of yourself.

football is on the day, and even big teams suffer humiliating loses to teams they normally would beat, case and point brazil vs germany 2014 at home in brazil, germany scored 7 goals routing the world champions, and they could have scored more.

i'm not saying that we are a better team....not at all, i'm not that naive. if my opinion counts for anything i would say that TT is in total shambles all the way around. our defense is rubbish, especially in central defense and our attackers are aging, so no, ATM jamaica is a much better team than us, and whenever we're not in a competition i personally route for other caribbean teams, especially jamaica.

so hold on to your hat mate, when you beat a full strength usa, mexican or canadian team, then i would shower praises on your precious jamaica, but for now you'll have to wait until then.

Pull stones I agree I wonder how Moses i was never impressed with him .. The main quesion is who are we going to replace them with? Luke singh not ready as yet  are we scounting for players ? who  is in the pipeline
I got to be honest here mate, nothing ever hurt me in football as that beating last night at the hands of an okay team. i wouldn't have mind if it was a top notch team, but to lose in that soft manner to another caribbean team who if they were clinical enough, could have routed us quite easily. believe me it was extremely tough to bare. i don't know if angus is really the man for this job, seem like he could only beat teams in nation B and C.

we need top shelf academies and an equally top shelf league if we are to ever progress from these kind of F class performances.....but i know that no one is even listening , let alone paying attention.

Hackshaw lack of conditioning was on full display. From about 65 mins he was done, and even before that he was using his energy sparingly.
I gonna rewatch this game tomorrow, I thought the challenge for the first goal was not a foul at the time. Did not notice a foul for the 3rd goal. To tell the truth I felt we played too soft, not ready for contact and falling over when it came.
TBH i am quite fond of hackshaw and i'll tell you why, the man has a footballing brain in his head, something 95% of our players both past and present lack, and had it not been for him and triston hodges that defense would struggle to even get out their own half of the field.

the problem is that our midfielders are over worked, and that's because our attackers have a hard time holding on to possession, did you know that last night we only had two shots on goal, and our turn over rate from offense to defense were at a staggering rate?

last night you could have seen that andre ramperad couldn't go another minute, that defense over worked that man and ever so  often he had to be on both attacking and defensive mode because levi and auvery would turn over possession without even a shot on goal then the jamaicans would be quick on the counter attack leaving the defense in disarray.

alvin jones also need to take some of that blame because he was caught out of position on many occasions leaving hackshaw and rampersad to pick up the pieces, on that first goal he was way down field while grey and bailey were free as a bird to link up.

our performance last night was one the the worst defensive displays that i've ever seen from the TT national team, for sure. trust me jamaica ain't that good, and i wait to see how they fear when they come up against real organized teams like costa rice and panama.

another thing i wanted to highlight, don't these concacaf referees frustrate you? i was so annoyed when shaw was bundled over by the jamaican defender, literally pushed down off the ball only for the play to continue which resulted in the first goal?

and on the third goal the same was apparent when fortune was kick down, and yes the player got the ball, but he also got the player,  and again no call which resulted in another goal.

this type of piss poor officiating never happens in euefa or comebol, like the qatari coach exclaimed, this is very poor officiating, they were robbed two goals...which were obvious penalties, yet these referees are allowed to officiate in big games despite their constant ineptitude, especially that bow legged jamaican referee, he tries hard...i give him that, but you can clearly see that he makes tons of terrible decisions that cost deserving teams points. jamaica beat us yes, but they got lots of help from bateau and the referee.

when i watch football i see it from a coaches prospective and i know most of you do too, but as a small time wanna be coach, don't you guys get annoyed when things that are so obvious, gets cloudy to the management as well as the coaching staff?

in all honesty how could we continue on with players whom we know are habitual strugglers in the game that has never risen their level of play and understanding of the game? you making passes to a player that is heavily marked only to lose possession, as peong reiterated this is bone headed football. in real big games this almost never happens, which brings me to sheldon bateau, when are we going to thank this man for his services and move on?

for almost 12 years now i'm watching this central defender make all sorts of errant mistakes which almost cost us every single time he plays, on that first goal he miss kicked the ball in the box causing antonio to make the pass to gray, aubrey the same thing, these guys play football with zero intelligence and skill level, and at the international level you cannot afford to miskick and misread plays in your defensive third.

on the second goal no one was watching bailey, a guy with incredible speed on and off the ball, and yet again bateau played him on side, and for sure that keeper had no right to rush out, i always say that great GKs when they rush off their line as the last order of defense they always get piece of the ball or disrupt the rhythm of the attacker, it's very rare that you see a great GK rush off his line to get beaten by an attacking player so easily without making him work hard for his goal, let alone twice in a game.

i think that we have some good nifty little players, but we need a solid back line, and the only one that i would keep thus far is tristan hodges.....and maybe.....just maybe alvin jones whom in my opinion is a very basic players to say the least, but bateau , moses and david should not be an option in serious tournament games going forward, these guys come apart way too easily and it's been years of the same ole same ole. don't our coaches get fed up of this nonsense?

Football / Re: 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup Thread

Levi, our best player need the ball at his feet more. I think he should be wide where he'll be more dangerous going to goal. Playing on top with your back to goal can be a lonely place when you're not getting the right service. USA will play him the same way as JA did at center forward where he'll be marked tightly and will be on the ground most times the ball comes his way.
Maybe fitness is the issue but JJ and Molino has a certain level of confidence and poise on the ball that many other lack at the moment. Their maturity stood out in the 2nd half. We need to see more of that from the others.
It was disappointing to see us give up 3 goals that early in the game to our rival. We gave up too much space to our opponents and they took advantage of it.
Our backs are against the wall now, we have to win on Sunday and with the right attitude, discipline and mindset we can do it.
I don't like to blame the coach when I don't know what's going on in the camp but we need to get the right unit out there putting players in positions to play to their strengths.
all those goals were due to ball watching, and on the first three we were hit with counter attacks that caught our defense out of shape, out of position and flat footed. on the first goal four players were tackling one attacker with the ball while leaving the other two attackers unmarked, on the second goal Bailey beat the off side trap on a very high line, what was angus thinking? he left the GK no time to react, on the third goal ball watching again came into the equation leaving a dangerous epl player free and unmarked.

BTW the referee was also culpable for two of the goals which all came after obvious fouls, the first foul was committed on Shaw when he was pushed off the ball to the ground, play should have been stopped, the second was when ajani was hacked down but the ref allowed it to continue. Very poor officiating cost us the game.

I continue to say that concacaf has the worst referees in the whole of fifa, just ask Qatar’s coach, and it  gets worst with each passing year. No shame. and another thing, the goalie is a panicker, you can’t win games with presumptuous goal keeping, your custodians must be very sharp, skilled and confident like turner and navas, boy do we need a keeper with the caliber of those two top notch guys.

Tell me why Poon did not get picked
because rampersad is much better than him. poon in my opinion is a hot mess, he loses the ball way too easy and brings very little in attack. i think if angus started hodge and auvrey, and our keeper didn't panic so badly, then we could have taken at least a point from the game.

i am of the opinion that we could beat this usa team.... but if we get it right and play our best game.

never liked angus but this loss is not so much his fault....except that he got the starting line up way wrong especially with tristan hodge. that man had a master game vs st kitts and you sub him off, for what reason angus?

aubrey david is a turtle, you can't play him on the wing where he bums. and  the auvrey guy is a speed star, he should have started to give the  jamaican defence some work. ALL THREE GOALS WERE AS A RESULT OF A COUNTER ATTACK, i hope angus learns his lesson. anyway on too the usa, if i was him i go for broke, nothing to lose.

oh i almost forgot, who the FRANCE gives an attack so much time to take a shot on goal, and no one bothered to close him down...yes!! richards on that last goal, what a sloppy performance.

« on: June 28, 2023, 09:30:04 PM »
haha, i told you guys not to expect too much. anyhow you all may not agree with me but it was all the left back and the goal keepers fault, on the first goal the man ran out of his line just to give the attacker an easier chance.

and this is what bugs me about our keepers, they tend to panic very easily, had he held his line both with baily and grey and trust his defenders to fix the problem then those soft goals would not have scored.

as for the attack, angus got it way wrong, but he fixed the problem in the 2dn half and had us playing some good ball, its just that we lacked quality in the final third. BTW molino is just a fraction of his old self and angus was right for not starting him, as for levi garcia, that man frustrates me so.

he gets in a scoring position and freezes up. jovin, hackshaw and hodges has a great game, but i have to say that we would never live this loss down, not from jamaica, theyre not 4 goals better than us, usa maybe.... but not jamaica. if we had better attackers we could have beaten them.

and i stand by my observation, those goals were all goal keeper jitters. frenderup dissappointed my sore. real amateur goal keeping at best.

Hope you guys listened to lasana who was so on point with his assessment. this team did not perform well enough to be overly optimistic and from where I stand will have to come way better just to get past jamaica, never mind the usa which is a running overly transitional team who controls and dominates the midfield.

I’m just going to watch this game with very little expectation, but if we’re to take anything from this game we would have to put in a first class shift where our attackers must perform flawlessly, unlike that piss poor showing that molino, levi and telfer brought against st kitts nevis.

To add to that the young kid from france needs to stop over dribbling and must make his crosses count, so far I’ve seen nothing but Carlos edwards crosses, nothing pin point on the heads and feet of our attacking players, just wasted possession every time he goes on one of his fruitless runs down the flank.

Any who, I wish the lads success, but I’m not overly optimistic in the least.

From what I understand, Concacaf hasn't made a ruling on this as yet because they are waiting on Nicaragua to provide the documents. Usually it's a 24hr to 7 day period to provide the documents. So some news should come out by Monday. Concacaf would be stupid to have the match played, only to make the results of the Guadeloupe game mean nothing. Also, Bahamas would be missing out on a chance to qualify, if Concacaf demonstrated complete oversight on this
i've lost all confidence in montagliani and his administrators, they are all puppets of the bald headed mobster, in fact the only federation who Fcks him off is europa, they seem to be the only ones that have the testicular fortitude to tell FIFA where to get off, all the rest of confederation bosses act like penniless beggars.

as for concacaf, i believe they are nothing without CFU, and it's high time some one of these tailless monkeys in the caribbean region man up, take CFU away from the crooked elements and lobby for our own confederation, we are 35 strong, so what do we need NORTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA FOR?

Squeaky-bum time for Soca Warriors
T&T Express

Stop complaining, Coachman, we’ve got to get into the Concacaf Gold Cup! In the words of Sir Alex Ferguson, it’s “squeaky-bum time”.

In that “final” against Nicaragua, a win would’ve sent us straight to the Gold Cup.

That is no time for ceremony, it doesn’t matter that Winchester is a Tobagonian, Reon Moore is the striker who got us the goal against Jamaica; he should be leading the line from kick-off.

When does a coach ever change a winning team? Alvin Jones is a goal-scoring right-back; recall that goal against USA in Couva. Hodge had an excellent game against Bahamas. Why change the full-backs?

If Jones’ primary position is left-back, why is he playing in the no 10?

It would’ve been a fair selection if he started at left-back and dropped into midfield as an inverted full-back like the Zinchenko role at Arsenal.

What does John Paul Rochford have to do to get a start? What does Justin Sadoo have to do to get a call-up?

So, you’re telling us the local batch that travelled to Jamaica only went for a sweat? To Eve an the backroom staff—do your homework on the tactics, and let the fans worry about the atmosphere. It’s Tobago. What kind of vibes you all expected to get?

Central American nations have always tried “Neymar-esque” shenanigans. No point complaining to the referees. We must outplay them regardless, and return the nasty streak equally.

Chin up, fellas. Look ahead—plenty of work to do. Expect Jamaal Shabazz to be trash-talking from all now. Let him say what he has to say, and let’s focus on our business and games ahead. We can only play against who’s in front of us.

We move on. Soca Warriors to the World!

Excellent article, I actually agree with 95% of everything you reiterated, but to no avail, because unfortunately I fear that your words will fall on deaf ears since no one who has the power to change the trajectory of the piss poor direction that football has taken over the years, will have any interest to take any immediate measures to repair football in this land.

I don’t know why you TT football fans can’t see that nothing will change in a hurry where sports in Trinidad and Tobago is concerned, because of all the self important big headed selfish rassholes who rush to lead but are void of ideas and technique to take sports into the 21st century.

Pretty soon dominica will be beating us left right and center, and hopefully maybe then….they just might wake up and smell the coffee….hopefully by then they get it and actually put the sport discipline first and foremost.

Pull stones this is what happens when you play games and sabotage a society for personal gain, both jack and DJW, this is their legacy.
See how the forum is now dead as our fotball
the forum is dead because the people wise up and accepted the fact that supporting TT football is a wasted endeavor, at least this is my opinion.

People can’t continue on that roller coaster ride to nowhere, we experience a world cup then after that was chaos for the next ten years, then when we finally got rid of jack warner and things started looking up for TT football, then football fraternity went and replace mr timkee with another crook who wanted to own football (DJW)

And even when the man lose the election he turned around and sabotage football by having his replacement ousted by his friends in fifa, and now we football in a hot mess. you think people have the fortitude to deal with all that disappointment and mayhem?

The people fedup and they had it with this rubbish, from the stupid idiotic league where these local coaches continue to perpetuate this old 1950s style of football where players lack the basic skills like running with a ball properly glued to their feet, yet we celebrate these losers as good coaches, please.

when we get serious with football then the people will come back, but don’t hold your breath, because these people still don’t get it and I doubt they would anytime soon since is pure jokers who have a say as to how TT football move forward.

Might be a lil too early for this Thread. Mainly because where we are as a football nation, no league for 3 years, top players not available and wasn’t him who loss a match in Nicaragua that put us in this situation in the first place. In addition the gap in Quality between concacaf teams are shrinking. Still supporting the boys let’s at least make it to the gold cup and continue to build back up the standards of Trinidad & Tobago football.
sure right. When fenwick who didn’t lose one game……in fact he defeated guyana and st lucia twice and drew with peurto rico and bahamas who literally parked the bus by putting 11 defenders on the 18 yard box and hindered the game just to celebrate a draw, yet we excepted no excuses from him we wanted him gone.

I believe angus should do the same thing and resign just like mr fenwick did, we don’t want no excuses just like we didn’t want none when other coaches failed, wim resigned, oto fister resigned, maturana resigned, Steven hart resigned so who is angus??

That boy ran his mouth when other coaches bummed and called for their resignation, now it’s his turn. resign angus and ASAP.
