Football / Carlos Edwards HAVE to start at right back !!!!
« on: March 19, 2009, 08:10:52 PM »
Given the side named (no true right back) we have to play carlos there or we in serious trouble. Honduras is no joke  - cannot try out Wofe or whoever there for these 2 games. Carlos could handle it and overlap as necessary. The defence have to be solid. Our attack will always create and hopefully finish chances with KJ, Scotland, Daniel, Latas, Hyland, Stern (yes Stern) etc.

Football / We will not get past second round unless...
« on: June 10, 2008, 02:58:36 PM »
I haven't posted in a while, and I know we still have to get past Bermuda, however, after watching the US vs Arg game the other night and some of the games with the current team, I feel a separate thread is needed to state plainly what many others have said. We will not earn the required points from USA, Guatemala, (and prob even Cuba, i.e., 6 pts) to qualify for the Hex...don't even think about qualifying from the Hex....if the following players are not re-called:

Keepers

Kevin Jack

Defenders
Brent Sancho
Avery John
Cyd Gray
[Julius James]

Midfielders
Chris Birchall
Colin Samuels

Forwards
Cornell Glen

I tried to limit the names to the CRITICALLY needed players as some of the local based have show an ability to step up. Some other guys like Theobald and Spann can hopefully earn a call-up between now and the 2nd round because you cannot discount the experience these guys gained from going through the last qualifiers and playing abroad in hostile conditions etc. I know there are several other players that have displayed some qualities in the past like Glasgow, Jemmot etc but I am talking about CRITICALLY needed based on the deficiencies in the current team from a player capabilities and experience standpoint.

Yes - I know we have to beat Bermuda but.....

Did you tell the players you planned to sell these pics when you requested their signatures? Just curious.

Football / Re: Ah know the Rougier fans happy
« on: April 13, 2006, 07:57:58 AM »
Rougier was badly needed on this team. De man had one bad game, playing out of position against de US, and men forget that he was and STILL IS de best right back we have.

Cyd Gray will give yuh a fight but he still not ready for WC and Spann is a midfielder with enough ball sense to convert to a right back but he's no true defender.

Doh be surprise if Rougier start at right back vs Sweden.

I second de "I have faith in Beenie" statements!!

Football / Re: Right back spot is a concern
« on: March 02, 2006, 01:49:04 PM »
I guess the bottom line is there are quite a few more games (including those during the camp) to assess the players and by June 10th I'm confident Beenie would have the best 11 on the field.

I'm just concerned that Iceland is no where near the quality of the teams in our group and there were some defensive breakdowns in the game that our Group B teams will not lapse on.

Plenty positives as well though - Yorke, Samuel as a left winger (after playing like shte there in the Gold Cup), Birchall, and the overall hustle and confidence on the ball from the team.

Football / Right back spot is a concern
« on: March 02, 2006, 01:29:06 PM »
Gray tried his best, and served us well against Bahrain but he didn't look like ke's ready for WC football. Too many wild clearances and aimless long passes.

Would like Beenie to take a look at Rougier as wright back, NOT a midfielder...and maybe Sancho there as well.

General Discussion / Big up to Ato!!!
« on: February 15, 2006, 02:52:47 PM »
Whedda you agree wid de man political choices or not...I say big up to Ato for makin de jump into representing de country on anudder level.

It easy to talk an say Trini in ah mess and de gov't dis and dat but few would actually step up and put dey a*ss on de line and try to make a difference. Wid all de money and fame etc Ato have he coulda go back home and jus run skettel an party like rain.

We need some younger blood to weed out de current men who jus rotatin power, gettin kicks in parliament, jus tiefin money etc, etc.

Big up to de boss!!!

10
is that our people are quick to "big up" players that have plenty "small goal type skills"

Everytime u make your case about Hardest's ability you mention he does pass "cap and beat like rain". You're not convincing me that he deserves a try out with that. Tell me he could:

-  control and pass under INTENSE pressure with very little time allowed on the ball;
-  tell meh he could defend and track back and keep the shape against top class midfielders who never stop running
- tell meh he is a team player who will ADD to the current team chemistry
- tell meh he will ADD to a midfield that currently includes Yorke, Birchall, Whitley, Spann ,Theobald, Edwards, and Latapy
- if none of the above - the tell meh he's about 18 years old and can learn these things from the experience of being the 23rd player on the roster.

The ability to Cap and furs and belt man in Trini doh mean shite at WC level!

Football / Re: PLAY DE MARCH 1ST GAME AT HOME!!!
« on: December 14, 2005, 07:23:15 PM »
I agree with all of that but oh gawd...dey playin 4 GAMES. At least one could be home and 3 in Europe. Doh geh meh wrong...proper preparation comes first but oh gawd....half de team couldn't come back after we qualify now dey still eh comin before de cup.

Dat hard man.

One game at home against quality European oppositions is still good preparation.

De whoke damn team playin in Europe whole year...so de "playin de practice games" in Europe is not dat big a deal.

Football / Play de March 1st game at home!!!
« on: December 14, 2005, 07:10:44 PM »
Fly Wales down nah man...de team and fans DESERVE on last send off in Trini before the cup. I fthis is the only official FIFA calendar weekend use it for A HOME GAME.

Can you imagine that game on Ash Wed!!! Oh gawd yuh talk bout bachanaal. One year to de 1st game against de US last Ash Wed. De fellahs could get a lil carnival celebration as well.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...Jack. Give we dis one.

I understand the importance of playing European teams. I doh even care about not playing Brazil...quite frankly we won't be ready for them so soon.

BUT first time ever we qualify and we cyah get ah game from we boys at home as a final send off.

UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

13
I believe you said earlier that you live 2 hours from Dortmund...correct?
For people like me who duh know nutten bout Europe ...give we a nice lil travel agent style summary to help us plan de travel nah. For example:

1. If we want to base where the Trini team staying (where dey stayin...ah can't remember?) what other hotels are around. From cheapest (bed/breakfast style) to mid range price etc. What hotel are they staying in? What's the cost?

2. What are some other options nearby (within an hour) to where the team's staying  - price etc. How far is the Dortmund stadium from where the team staying? Price to travel there by train etc?

3. If you were to fly in to UK or Holland first for a lil lime then travel on to the first game what's the best mode of travel? How long will plane and train take from the Uk and Holland to Dortmund? How much will each cost etc?

4. How far is Nuremburg and Kaiser from the Trini team base? Cost to travel there by train etc?

4. Where can you buy train tickets from now to travel to each game city?

Hook up de clueless Trinis who to lazy to search for all dis nah man!!

Thanks in advance!

Football / Bring '74 Team, Strike Squad & '05 Team Together
« on: November 21, 2005, 10:16:08 AM »
for the first world cup warm up when the full 05 team come back. Would like to see us honor de past players as well and finally bury (somewhat) dem bad memories of 74 & 89.

Also, de 74 and 89 players should get passess to all future games.

Dah post a few weeks ago dat ah man see Kerry Jamerson arguin wid a scalper fuh a ticket to one of de qualifiers in Trini hurt meh heart. Dat man give good service to Trini and gave much joy wid dem 2 bullet he score.

Football / Leh we doh forget de key lesson - Proper Planning & Discipline
« on: November 18, 2005, 03:00:33 PM »
Amidst all de hype leh we doh forget a key lesson please. What is one of, if not de major differences, wid dis qualification effort compared to others?

Is not just dah leo come and save we.

People like Lincoln Phillips as well have brought a refreshing level of planning and professionalism before de team even step on the field. We were sending scouts to games (we las coach didn't believe in dat); sending manager to de hotel to make sure everything straight before de team arrive etc

Then Leo have the players believing and stickin to de preparations plan & game plan. I couldn't believe my eyes against Guatemala and Mexico when we was down and were still playing as a team, patiently bringing the ball out from the back etc..stickin to de plan. Back in the day we woulda jus force de ball to Latas or Yorke and hope dey do something.

That was when I realized we actually had become a world cup calibre team.

Even as I jump up and cry etc for dis team ah have a heavy heart for all de wasted, jokey efforts at qualifying in de past when we arguably had more talented players.

NEVAH AGAIN!!!!! DAT SHOULD BE DE CRY AFTER DE WORLD CUP FINISH.

We have to build on this like the US, Costa Rica etc and become a consistent force in CONCACAF!!

« on: November 18, 2005, 01:38:24 PM »
Yeah...when I see him leggo dah spanner in corner ah start to bawl!!!
Dat is de Yorke I remember..one ah de original men where de crowd used to ball "waaahttccchhhh out fuh de draaaaggggggg" Too late.

will pass de house where he grew up by Cane Farm junction in Tacarigua/Trincity.

I could tell yuh personally de man grew from humble beginnings...bringin tears to meh eyes to know de man passin dey as a World Cup bound player after all dem years playin as a youth Eddie Hart Savaanah, Parliament grounds and de Trincity field!!

Kelvin Jack was right dey wid him too. Always focused on makin it!!! Jap Brown products!!!

I so happy fuh dem fellahs!!

Sancho is anudder man who never give up on his dream as a youth. We used to tell him hush he mouth when we say he goin pro in Europe. De man live in Brooklyn and defeat odds nuff man couldn't defeat. Dah place have ah way of discouragin ballers. Nuff good good men just end up bein drinkers an limers after dey base dey. Brent had de discipline to stay focused.

So much stories man could write on each ah dem fellahs. I real happy fuh dem!!!

on TV6 streaming at de airport. Big Up Tallman!!!

25
Boss...yuh lookin fuh cuss!!

Dese would be valid questions if the cup was in 2 years not 7 months.
Same team goin wid some additions an maybe Latas would come on half-time etc but Yorke prove himself to be a true warrior and inspiration to dis team. i nevah see a man run so much in a game in my life.
An guess wha...yes he cyah blow pass men one on one like he used to but he keeps possession which is the most important thing yuh want from yuh midifield!!!

Now brace fuh yuh cussin!!

Football / Give hungrier young players more mins
« on: November 13, 2005, 12:00:32 PM »
Beenies tactics have gotten us where we are...cyah argue wid dat.

But dem Bahranies fast and fit and defend with numbers. One wat to counter dat is with speed and dribling ability. De older men get show up las night  -Yorke, latas & Stern.

3 of these 4 players - Jones, Glen, Sancho & Theobald need at least 30 mins. Glen & Jones especially!!!!

« on: October 21, 2005, 11:16:47 AM »
Touches,

I agree with yuh...of course national pride etc comes first but nothing wrong with a lil extra motivation and appreciation.

Who have more national pride etc than US...but guess wha...their players all had monetary incentives to qualify for the world cup and dey even strike to increase the amts.

Football / What about some added incentive for de boys?
« on: October 21, 2005, 09:09:47 AM »
We all know dem Barrainians go get Benz and a million $$ an all kinda shite as incentive thrown at dem by dey gov't for dese 2 games. Doh be surprised how dat could make a man run jus a lil harder.

Why no word yet from any quarters in Trini - Gov't, business, Jack?? - regarding incetnive for our players. Offer dem fellahs something now nah man...doh wait til after. Some nice plot ah land, some $$$, TSTT:free service for life, come man dis is de CHANCE OF A LIFETIME for some upliftment, name recognition etc for Trini...leh we give dem fellahs some extra motivation nah man!!!

I an alll would put a lil something in de kitty. Not like Yorke and a few others need it but still!!
