To the Mighty Warrior, may God continue to bless every thing you touch. You and the rest of "2006" team made us believe that we too as citizens can be the greatest in anything we do with your never say die spirit. Mr. Christopher Birchall you have shown us that to be a "Warrior" is to show "TRUE GRIT".  :applause:
So on behalf of me and my wife Carmen, thank you and may the the light that is Jesus Christ continue to light your path! :peace: :salute:

 :)
WELL DONE to all our players, to the head coach SH & the rest of the management team for a good job so far in this Gold Cup! :)

Your performances against El Salvador & Honduras have given T&T football fans and supporters around the world hope that things are now on the up and we can soon restore our football back to the world class level and respect that we commanded back in 2006.
Hopefully with our performances in this tournament we can bring our football back to a high level of respect within the CONCACAF region and from there move our football up to an even higher level that can regularly match any of the top teams on world stage in the days, weeks, months & years to come!

Let’s show the world that we are truly Soca Warriors and Fighters who should never ever be written off in any football tournament once we put on our red white and black uniforms!!

Maximus Dan - Fighter
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/pPxN8BAdVVA" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/pPxN8BAdVVA</a>

All the best against the Mexicans on Saturday!! If you continue to play like you did again Honduras and improve on your possession, speed of movement on and off the ball and finishing of chances you will create as a result then I can see T&T pulling off a shock result against the Mexicans that will soon have the world and the some of these biased commentators all singing another tune where T&T football is concerned.

And remember guys, our team has no room for prim-donnas, and no one is guaranteed a spot under SH if they do not perform their designated roles and so justify their spot and time on the field. And finally let’s keep the ball, move it forward with patience and skill and make sure we take more shots at goal than the Mexicans are allowed to do at ours on Saturday as goals win matches.

Everyone on our team is important, including those sitting on the bench because "Together We Aspire & Together We Will Achieve!"  :beermug:
This video reminded me of the 2006 WC campaign. No Guts, no glory! The Mexicans don't have home advantage so grind them into the dust. It's all about the Warrior Spirit!

I think Birchall needs to find a club where he is playing consistently.  And, why does LA want him only as cover for Beckham? I think Birchall should make the move to MLS only if he can't find better options in the UK.
I totally agree! :applause:

I would like to know if football is the only sport played in HC. Mr JW may not be squeaky clean, but the man is making sure that the team has every thing that they need. The people who are bad mouthing Mr JW should start to financially contribute to the team or insist that Gov't contribute to the teams'(all levels) success. >:(

JACK WARNER is FULL OF SHIT..... HANDS DOWN... we just spent an assload of money to bring Spann back on short notice on a long ass flight which probably could be an excuse for his poor perfromance when you have Sancho just finish his season with Atlanta and now at NE Stars right there in TnT.... and yuh could of even had play Carlos right back and had Glenn or Hyland on R. lastly..tactically, we not going to see much improvement in defense imo. Talles is the only man in that back 4 i think MUST start. I think we need a 2nd ball harrier to help Brichall. T&T needs a solid 5 man midfield, or we will struggle (imo). Big teams like Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy etc...play with 2 hustlers in the middle and a deep lying playmaker. Yorke is  a lock as the deep lying playmaker and Birchie is our Gattusso/Mascherano/Gliberto Silva. I think we also need a complimentary defensive midfielder like a De Rossi/Cambiasso/Josue.

Whitely?

Yorke, Birchie, Carlos, Keon Daniel, Talles, Ince must start. De rest of the starting lineup need a little rejiggering, if last night's performance is anything to go by.

Add Cyd, Sancho and Avery to the defense, Whitely to the middle, KJ as the striker and we good to go!

--------------Ince-------
El Cyd - Sanch---Tallest---Blade
-------Me Mum-----Gangsta
-------------Dwight-----------
--Carlos------------------Skilla
----------------KJ--------------

Dat looking like a nice side on the road...
I not sure at home when we need a win if is the best thing though.

IMO..daz about as good as it gets wit we Midknight.  If we go into a game wit dat line up & everybody healthy, I satisfied.  We could do no more.  :beermug:

Allyuh do realise dat is only one player on that side dat wasnt a WC 2006 player right? So in all the time since then....the only player that develop enough to make side is daniel?
Don,t forget Hyland! :)

Football / Re: It now making sense...I figure out why Lawrence was dropped.
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:47:44 AM »
Folks,

After reading the article on WHitley and hearing comments by Babwah bout players coming back etc.

I feel this is what went on inside Maturana Afro.

Looking at the big picture, past history, readiness of the squad and players at his disposal...He told himself from the get go from looking at the schedule that TT would lose only ONE game in this semi-final round, and it would be away to the USA.

It was imperative we beat Cuba and Guatemala twice. We were allowed to mess up one game vs Guatemala, a draw away. Now we just have to win away.

Looking at the Card situation.

Lawrence has a yellow card, avery is out, Cyd on a card, Hyland out, I think Makan get one and Keyeno too.

Regardless of the outcome of the Guatemala game, where we 4k up the scene in the last 5 minutes, even though we play good, I sure he must be know to heself that we were not ready to face the USA. If the systems and tactics we were using have us ketching we arse with Guyana the week before and all them other small friendlies were not working and I as a fan could see that...he as the coach must see dat too.

So he knows the Guatemala game is Do or Die...what does he do.

Sacrifice lawrence, knowing we done lorse already....as a card would have him suspended against Guatemala.

Give Makan the sweat for caps, and throw in the Fastest best defender we have, to try they best and fight up. Hence Edwards get the role...he is familiar with him and he weighing him up against Cupid, Smith and Joyce who get a test and fail vs Guyana.

Then knowing the only way to test the US is to unsettle them he puts the only recognised "BLADE MAN" he has that he could sacrifice....Telesford.

Maturana couldnt care two fart if Telesford get a card. He know that he is a role player and dat is it for him. He didnt pick Me Mum due to Me Mum not looking good in the friendly match down here....if we are honest about his performance he was not up to par. and Maturana knows what Telesford capable of.

He knew Denzil cyar pelt no tackle, he know Daniel ent doing it, He know Edwards ent doing it, so is best yuh let Leon and Telesford try they best...if anybody in this midfield get a card and missing the next game is no scene. He also have Wolfe to run wild and try a thing.

So Maturana chooses a iffy line-up to protect the team and have the strongest team available vs Guatemala.

Guatemala cannot scout us...the Corbeaux brand is alive and well and the tactics only backfired because we get three. I am sure Maturana was hoping for a 1-0 or best case scenario 0-0. But he cannot come out in public and say he didnt think we coulda win or he saving players for Guatemala so he hush he mouth and doing he work quiet.

The team for Guatemala away will be

Cyd, Tallest, Keyeno/James, Avery

Midfield of Edwards, Yorke, Whitley, Hyland, Daniel

Glen up top.

All who get injured/carded will be replaced for the USA game at home but if we beat Guatemala that game is not of much significance. Then all players will be alright to face Cuba at home in the final game.

Pacho is a BOSS!!!   ;D ::)

Watch how we in the HEX!!!!

We winning 2-0 in Guatemala.

Good logic but Mats eh so smart
I agree with every thing that chipsilver said except for the part about Me Mum not performing well in the friendly because it was his freekick that assisted in the two goals that were scored. :)

Joe Public cruise pass New England.
By: Flex Mohammed.

Six place T&T Pro League team Joe Public FC put up a brilliant display at the Gillette Stadium on Tuesday night to come away 4-0 winners over MLS Eastern second place team New England Revolution in the CONCACAF Championship Cup. Leading the series 2-1 and only needing a tie for the least to take them through to the next rounds. Joe Public came out firing on all cylinders from the kick off that would leave the host team shell-shocked. The Trinidad and Tobago side a 6:1 aggregate victory send it to Group C along with Mexico’s Atlante FC, CD Olimpia of Honduras and Impact de Montreal of Canada.

Guyanese striker Gregory Richardson was the most impressive player off the night netting a hat-trick for the Eastern Lions and Jamaican striker Reon Nelson also getting on the score sheet that would help finish off the New England side and create history in the process as no other T&T club has ever beaten an American side at home in such competition and, in such manner. The Revolution finished with 10 men after defender Jay Heaps drew a second yellow card in the 90th minute for a rash tackle from behind on Wolry Wolfe. Joe Public will now look to it's next opponent in its Group C schedule away September (17) against Canada's Montreal Impact.

Joe Public FC (4-4-2): - 1-Alejandro Figueroa (GK), 13-Jason Springer (10-Lyndon Andrews 85th), 23-Keyeno Thomas, 20-Christopher Harvey, 19-Carlyle Mitchell, 11-Wolry Wolfe, 8-Dale Saunders ©, 9-Arnold Dwarika, 17-Kerry Baptiste, 14-Reon Nelson (31-Jamal Gay 76th), 21-Gregory Richardson.

Joe Public FC v Revolution Report.
By: revolutionsoccer.net.

Joe Public advances to the CONCACAF Champions League group stage with a 6-1 aggregate victory

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Gregory Richardson scored three goals and helped set up another, as Trinidad’s Joe Public FC defeated the New England Revolution, 4-0, in the second leg of a CONCACAF Champions League preliminary-round series on Tuesday night at Gillette Stadium. With the result, Joe Public won the two-game series, 6-1 on aggregate, and advanced to the tournament’s group stage.

Joe Public will be part of Group C in the CONCACAF Champions League, joining Mexican side Atlante, Honduran club Olimpia, and the winner of the series between the Montreal Impact (Canada) and Real Esteli (Nicaragua), which Montreal led, 1-0, after the first leg. New England’s participation in the tournament was ended with the loss.

Richardson scored his first in the 17th minute to give Joe Public a 1-0 lead in the match and a 3-1 advantage on aggregate. Wolry Wolfe’s long pass from midfield split the Revolution backline and put Richardson one-on-one with Revs goalkeeper Matt Reis, and Richardson finished to the far post from the left side of the box.

New England’s best chance of the first half – and ultimately, the match – fell to Shalrie Joseph in the 36th minute, but his close-range shot from a tight angle flew across the face of goal and past the far post.

Richardson extended the visitors’ lead to 2-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate just before halftime, bursting past a defender and firing a shot into the roof of the net from a very tight angle.

Less than three minutes into the second half, the Eastern Lions scored again, this time with Richardson providing the pass for Roen Nelson’s goal. Richardson played a low pass to the top of the area for Nelson, who side-footed a shot from 18 yards inside the left post.

The scoring was completed in the 81st minute when Richardson scored his third goal of the game and his fourth of the two-game series. Richardson took a short pass from Silas Spann outside the box before driving a shot inside the far post.

New England will return to MLS regular-season action on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the club travels to Ohio for a crucial Eastern Conference showdown with the Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium.

Joe Public began the match with the same starting lineup that the club used in the first leg on Aug. 26 in Trinidad.

New England played from the 75th minute to the 90th minute with 10 men, as Khano Smith left the match with an injury after the Revs had used their three allotted substitutions.

New England played the final moments of stoppage time with nine men, after Jay Heaps was issued a second yellow card and subsequent red card.

After playing the full 90 minutes as both a center back and a defensive midfielder in tonight’s match, Gabriel Badilla will depart tomorrow to join the Costa Rica National Team for a pair of 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Suriname (Sept. 6) and Haiti (Sept. 10) … Badilla is expected to miss the Revolution’s next two matches (at Columbus, Sept. 6; against Chivas USA, Sept. 11).

Joe Public became the first Caribbean team to defeat a club from the United States in the history of CONCACAF club competitions … the club from Trinidad also became the first Caribbean side to score as many as three goals in one match against a team from the United States.
that is the way we must beat people on their own turf and have their supporters running out their own stadium. BLOWS IN DEY CLOTHES AND HANG DEM OUT TO TAKE DEW! :) ;D

Warner and other leaders wait till thing go bad to finally notice the current squad was not that talented.  Bring back Beenhaker's players
Hooray!!Better late than never. Let us hope Birchall and company can provide the goods.  :)

TI,

you are the most one dimensional person I have seen on this site,  you are very close minded and always believe you are 100% correct about team selection.

you ever play any serious football, i not talking about cleaning hardest tugs and jockstrap...i talking about at a minimum inetrcol, probably league football or US college ball, some kinda ball wheer u will understand the difference between watching the game on tv, watching it live in the stadium, posting on this website and actually playing on the field.

avery is irrational, i guess u referring to the red card against sweden..men argue that ah million times on this site so i not going to discuss that again, my only comment on that is that tackle save us from ah serious buss net and 2 the yellow cards he got only 1 was a good call but on any given day the call could go either way.

i eh hating on nigel daniel, as a matter of fact nigel is mih bredren but from playing with and against him, as a forward i rather line up against him than avery because with nigel his mind doh be on the game for all 90 minutes while avery is ah force from beginning to end, he keeps u "honest" on the field.

one dimensional is a joke, maybe yourself, i played high school football, toronto is 8 months of winter and i hated indoor football, so i resorted to playing against my cosuinswho played for holland/ajax and feyronord in europe and tt in the summers against my cousins who played intercol back home, but otherwise i havent played us college ball; so in terms of do i know football, yes i do, my family has a long history in it, so i know alot more than others who pretend to and i do play whenever i get the chance.
offense is your best defense and i rather see nigel lhandle the ball rather than avery.

God is de BOSS....

yuh play football against yuh pumpkin vine cousin who play for "ajax' so dat make yuh ah expert on football, now allyuh doh get mih wrong i not saying that u have to play serious football to know football because some of the ebst coaches in the world never play at the highest level but keep in mind it easy for non players to be an armchair coach, what you from the sidelines is a lot different from on the field itself.

so back to Ti, yuh is ah boss cause u play small goal against yuh cousins, if i mention names of men i play small goal with them u will have to crown me FIFA player of the Year, anyway fire maturana and hire TI so he could select hardest, guerra and nigel, 2010 fuh sure..wait ah minute, TI say we planning for the future not like Leo and the quick fix, i always thought leo job and maturana was the same, qualify for the  world cup, i didnt know dem men was hired for ah developmental program, my bad, carry on.

pumpkin vine? yuh mad or wha, we never play small goal neither, you need to take yuh out of timing comments back in the hole yuh come from, it seems like advancing is your only aim, development not part of the plan for you, quick fix and no youths to carry on into the future, real short sighted if you ask me and guerra is the best youth in tt, i dont need you to attest to that because you were in that group of people who say locals was a waste of time.

God is de BOSS....
hislop is proving to be a good stopper, don't be so harsh on him! :)
