Football / Re: Glen goal earns T&T full points.
« on: August 12, 2009, 10:43:13 PM »
I think that T&T need to slow down their game and try to keep position of the ball. I think T&T need to work on possession triangular passing, building up an attack, rather than depending on a chancy long ball. Why do they constantly rely on this long ball strategy.KJ is not used effectively. One of the most dangerous men in the air in the premiership should be fed more crosses, especially against these shorter central american oppenents.

I think, what KJ does is what the coach wants him to do. Coaches at this level can inhibit players ability. Maybe Sunderland just want him to be a pure striker

I plan to use the justin tv link on my laptop, then connect the laptop to my tv using an HDMI cable, this way I can watch the game on the big screen thru my laptop. Simple math, the only problem is could drop from time to time, but I dont plan to use phones or microwave ovens during the game, this could cause interference....Go warriors

Football / Re: Warriors allow El Salvador a great come back.

I did not see the game, but from all the analysis I have read T&T need to be more solid and composed in defence. How could you give up 2 goals in 11 minutes to El Salvador, Was Kenwyn Jones air advantage ever utilized by  crosses? This should have been a big part of the T&T's brainthrust's game plan. This is a huge asset for T&T. With bigger games coming up, this asset should to be exploited.

I see this Argentine experience as a positive move, T&T footballers need to be exposed more to big league experience, even if most of these same players wont start. This experience can elevate their game. These players could never lift their game playing against players from the T&T Pro league, with no disrespect to the Pro League. I think a system of player exchange with develeped Footballing countries for the long term would be a good experiment for T&T Football.

I think at this stage of Dwight Yorke's brilliant career, If Dwight could be called up by an MLS team that would bring value to this league. There are a lot of teams that could gain from the leadership of Dwight Yorke. I think Dwight will one day coach T&T, his wealth of big league knowledge is a great  asset to any team. I think Dwight should start transtitioning into the coaching role, he has been a true winner, with his discipline, work ethic and experience, he is prime for that role .Look at former players like Paul Ince, Roy Keane, Frank Rikaard etc. Dwight could write his own ticket.

Hard to understand why a country has the highest income per capita in the caribbean, whose Prime Minister is building a 200 Million dollar mansion and so on and so on, and this third class facility as the national stadium. There are countries much poorer than T&T and have much better facilities. T&T want to be among the concacaf elite,  but if athletes and athleticism are treated this way, how could they compete with countries that take  their athletes more seriously. That stadium is a microcosm of the state of Football in T&T.Lots of potential but lack of support, I guess this could be said of many things this great nation possess, (Eg. Steel Pan, your great carnaval),Lack of support.

For a country that is probably the richest country(income per capita) in the caribbean and Latin America (Stats From CNN) having it's national team play at that 3rd class venue. Bottom line is Maturana is doing fine in a very bad situation. I did not agree with his selection against the USA in september, but in the organized world, results is what matters.

For the Bermuda game, then to play in the Manny Ramjohn, there are High School Stadiums in poorer countries that are on par with this stadium

Get off the coach, he got the job done that no other coach could accomplish. First he was trying to build a system concentrating on the local players (JACK's PLAN), this did not work, also T&T Sports Ministry would not grant the use of the national stadium, Jack Warner's intervention on team selection, what a disruptive situation. In Colombia or any country these disruptions for the national team would never occur.People give the man credit, he got the job done from a soccer federation and sports ministry in dissarray

Leo Beenkaker was good for the 2006 WC Campaign, but leo did not want to be in T&T.He only came to get that job done then adios. Leo wanted to be in Europe or in a bigger football arena. Certainly not in T&T for the long term. I think Bruce Arena would be a good Coach for T&T. Bruce made ordinary players play above expectation with team USA.

Saw the game, again it seems that defence is a major difficieny with teams from the twin island republic. Olimpia just simply outclassed, out hustled, and up front given too much room. Also on counter attacks always seemed to outnumber Joe Public man to man

Football / T&T games on TV
« on: June 23, 2008, 11:50:28 AM »
Can anyone tell me why is it that none of T&T's  games are ever on TV. Last week the Reggae boys game was shown, so was  Sv and grenadines, Haiti, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Guatemala. Who controls this, I think there are decent viewing audiences in the UK and North America. Trinis are everywhere. There are other islanders as well  who have some interest. When T&T played England (June 1st), there were some non-trini fans at the Pubs cheering on the soca warriors in Toronto.

19
Get real Warrior fans, why should a guy with a resume as Beenhakker come to coach a country that whose soccer infrustructure is so below standard. In a country where it's world cup heroes did not get payed, whose fotball stadiums are sub standard, whose Government does not give adequate support to it's Football programs. Countries like Guatemala and Mexico Etc eat sleep and breathe soccer and are better funded in their football programs than T&T. Even though T&T boasts(According to CNN) the fastest growing economy in the Carribean and Latin America. I think T&T should  hire some lower costing Foreign Coaches(Dutch, Russian etc) and start a system from the youth to the highest level, rather than applying these quick fixes. Trinidad has amazing talent, but it needs high level direction and support from it's Government. Go Warriors

Football / What happened to Chris Birchall
« on: June 20, 2008, 12:54:07 PM »
What ever happened to Chris Birchall, that hard tackling Midfielder, Chris did not possess the technical ability of an Aurtis Whitely, but certainly possessed the poise and discipline to help in the midfield and defence, an area where T&T lacks dicipline. Also remeber that goal he scored against Bahrain, which T&T player would have taken a shot like that to beat Bahrain's  goalkeeper on Nov 16th 2005 ? T&T have always had talent, but lack the fundamentals like good defending before offence, quality crosses etc. T&T wants to be Brazil, but Brazil  has 300 million people and a strong soccer infrastructure. T&T always seem to be disorganized at the back. Birchall did not play this last season a lot but Iam sure could have help T&T. Bermuda is not a talented bunch, but you do not need talent to exploit fundamental weaknesses.....Go warriors
