There'll only be two finalists from CFU in the hex in 2009. Jamaica and Trini.  :)

Haiti and Cuba will get duss early. And Haiti and Cuba aren't in the elite in CFU. ;D

Just a reminder to posters here that the 3rd spot in concacaf is not locked for Costa Rica anymore. they have had one of Concacaf's best strikers retire recently ( Paulo Wanchope) and their team is aging. Most of the players in the last round for CR will not be there.

I personally believe they will struggle to rebuild because Honduras and Guatemala are much better than them today. The 3rd spot can go anyway depending on who gets eliminated early.

Kenwyne not ready for Liverpool.  He should NOT even been mentioned in the same breath as Crouch.... >:(

Kenwyne need at least 3 seasons in the Premiership and score at least 15  Premiership goals a season  to even warm a KOP Bench

Thank de system dat we have ah freedom ah speech yes, you is God tuh know if he go be fit, ready and still shining after 3 seasons? In one year do you know how much lil 17,18,19 and 20 year old does be coming out on de market wid real talent? Not tuh mention de talents dat does come from Brazil and Argentina, ah feel dem 2 countries does produce young stars every month. Meh friend dis thing is not ah game, dat is ah job and ah business investment fuh de clubs, their staff and players . Ah doh know if yuh from T&T, but meh faddah have ah lil line he does always use, it goes like dis, "Yuh have tuh beat de iron while it is hot". In other words, while all eyes are on KJ, he need tuh take de best offer, secure ah very nice pay day and haul ass, then he have tuh continue tuh give defenders trouble and score goals, den what yuh think next, de bigger sharks go him from Liverpool, or which ever club he go and then ah even bigger pay day. Do feel no way and run and hide from Supa yuh know, like some members does do, cuz ah not mad at yuh, we jus reasoning here, regular forum exchanging of ideas nah  ;)  :beermug:. HIGHLY BLESSED.

Chat sitten wid sense nuh man. KJ nuh ready fi Liverpool Massa. Liverpool have di talent and it means more pressure on him to score if he goes there. At Sunderland he doesn't have that much pressure. He even said the 6 million pound price tag nuh faze him and that he's going out there and enjoy his football and score goals which he is currently doing.

Its not always about securing your future. He isn't 30 and looking for a last big payday. If he goes to a big club and doesn't produce he will rot away on the bench or in the reserves. What good is that to Soca warriors if he becomes stagnated?

KJ will get him money nuh matter wha. Right now him a mek round at least 40,000 pounds a week plus him contract guaranteed fi di next 3 years after dis suh nuh watch nutten.

Kenwyne Jones has adapted well so far in the premiership which is why he will attract interest from other teams if he continues to play well and score goals.

A move to a massive club llike Liverpool or Arsenal would stall his development. Both clubs have riches in the striking dept which means he would sit on the bench and become the forgotten man just like Sean Wright Phillips at Chelsea.

He is better off at Sunderland for the next 2-3 years and if I'm Sunderland, I would build around this guy. The 6 million pounds seems like a bargain already for a player of his calibre and he's still quite young.

Thiink about this. Darren Bent was bought by Tottenham for 16 million pounds and what is he doing at this time. When Sunderland bought KJ many thought that 6 million pounds was too much for an unproven non english player in the EPL back then but I think KJ is worth about 10million today. Let his development continue. The warriors will need him to steer the team to South Africa in 2010.
I completely disagree.

If he went to Arsenal I believe he moves above Bentender and competes with Adebayor. Adebayor has a better touch but KJ is more clinical as a finisher. I their system they have a target man (Adebayor) and a runoff man (VP, Eduardo).

At Liverpool he would only be behind Torres. Kuyt, Voronin are hustlers, nothing special.

Either way, he will get a lot of playing time. He would be better off at Arsenal where they make stars rather than Liverpool where stars are extinguished.

No disrespect to Adebayor but he isn't light years ahead of Kenwyne Jones. His misses too many easy chances to be considered clinical. If you made the comparison about Drogba I would agree wit you but Adebayor?? I think not.

Arsenal has a much better midfield when you factor in the likes of Fabregas, Hleb and others who can create alot of scoring opportunities for Adebayor. Now take Adebayor out of there and insert kenwyne Jones in their and he will get the same scoring chances and will have a better goal ratio than Adebayor.

Sunderland is new to the premiership and they're not as big a club as the gunners who obviously has a much superior midfield like most bigger clubs do. Arsenal does produce good players but they have other viable options in the striking department. KJ wouldn't have as much playing time unless they sell some of their players and well at Liverpool he would be dead in the pecking order. The best option is to stay at sunderland for the next 2-3 seasons. I think sunderland will invest in their midfield at some point in the off season.

W Connection should've had a sell on clause in his original contract with Southampton. Most of the samller clubs in England do that and benefit financially if the player commands a decent transfer fee.

I hope no other PFL club makes tha same mistake with future talent.

This is the final game in the tournament for these guys so hopefully they'll put on a much better showing than the last two games. The thing is the backfour has been terrible along with the keeper. They should be axed after this tournament. At this level, its unacceptable to play and concede goals the way they have.

very poor performance from the "reds". This team cannot compete for the future. The back four is too slow and terrible at defending. The mdifield leaves alot to be desired. If this is the team for the future the prospects doesn't look bright.

Soca Warriors need to win this game. Its about respect. Its time to do it. Now is that time. The problem is not in attack but the back four and the goalkeeper. Williams makes too many mistakes and we all know that great keepers are the ones that instill confidence in the defenders. Shaka did it Germany.

Williams has to have an excellent game and lkead from the back. I dunno why the other W Connection keeper wasn't selected for this tournament. He played well in the Champions Cup tie against Chivas.

Also why wasn't any U-17 players like Stephen Knox selected for this tournament. I read somewhere that Yorke got into the WC team at 16 yrs old. This would've been good for the a few young warriors.

Breds you could easily make more than that waiting tables or valeting cars and that's take home...no taxes ;D .

What kills me though is that they'll pay him that crap and then if a European clubs comes knocking they won't let him go.

which is why i stated sometime ago that MLS is no place for Caribbean players. The League itself structures the contracts where they and not the clubs have legal rights to any player's transfer fees. The MLS is good for you retiring and calling it a day which is what Becks will be doing ova di next 5 yrs ;D

Reggaefan,

I'm not sure about that. As a Jamaican myself, I think if Simoes really applied for the job, any sensible JFF president would've hired him instead of Bora Milutinovic. Simoes is obviously very familair with our NPL and the players so it's a no-brainer. I'm still not convinced about Bora being the person to lead the boyz ( see my posts over on the reggaeboyz site). He is riding off of his WC success in the 90's with Costa Rica and the USA teams but i think he's too old and he's past it. Boxhill is a moron if he infact didn't hire Rene Simoes if Rene wanted the head coaching post.

Simoes applied for the Jamaica job back when he was coach of Iran's under-23, round about the same time when the JFF was looking to employ a new TD. Surely, the JFF boss would have looked at Boras resume with more interest, having coached the top 3 CONCACAF teams at some point (Costa Rica, Mexico, USA), and the fact that he has been to the world cup 5 times. Yes, simoes knows Jamaica's football culture than anyone else...but when you put his resume side by side with bora's, Bora wins out hands down.

Simoes would have been, and perhaps is still my choice...but something tells me that Bora, with time on his hand, can do as good, or better a job than simoes did.

Nuh sey dat king. Bora's resume looks better on paper but his results over the last 8-9 years has been terrible. Yes he got China to WC 2002 but he failed in Honduras. If you're going to go back to his most recent success it would've been in the 90's like I said earlier. I don't think he's the man for the top spot. I have zero confidence in him bringing out the best in our national teams. I'd prefer Simoes or even a seasoned Dutch coach who has coached at the highest level. Milutinovic will only draw a pay check everymonth from the Federation that's it.

This will be an away match for Canada.

Now all we need is a coach!? ::)

Simoes will make you a better side...and a serious contender for one of the spots in 2010.
What are you guys waiting on to sign him?

So why did you guys dump him? Ungrateful!

We didnt dump Simoes!  His contract expired and he got an offer to join the technical staff Flamengo in Brazil (so he said) for twice what we were paying him at the time. At the time, the local coaches were second guessing the man on the local sport call-in programs...so he basically left the Jamaica job.

He was in contention recently....he re-applied for the job, along with Bora and a few others. Bora won out in the end. When Simoes was TD, the current JFF president Crenston Boxhill was equipment manager for the senior team. He was fired by Simoes...so Simoes was obviously at a disadvantage when Boxhill recieved his application, even though he was asking for roughly US$500K per year (half of what Bora is now being paid).

I doh mind yuh getting licks but you have to fight going down.  I will take 11 birchall over 11 Hardest any day.

It have TV and have internet to bridge that history gap.  You could watch  and hear men analyse football all day. I doh care how old the MFL is. All I want to see is some level of improvement.  Finding your self in space and giving a man an outlet to pass to have nothing to do with skill. Running down a man when you loss the ball have nothing to do with skill. 11 man behind the ball and nobody marking. Nobody putting in a tackle.  Nothing to do with skill.

That's exactly my point. It's easy to say that you can watch tv and look pon di internet, but football isn't played over the internet or on tv. It's done on a football field. Better players in the league will improve the standard of play. This club is in its initial stages. Every league in its early inception had the same problems as the PFL. MLS did and so did the old english first division and the early part of the premiership.

Jean is ah GOAT I don't care what nobody say This man is a waste a time. He have no touches whatsover. Not creative he does nothing on the field.

ah tink jean  and olivera does look good in the pfl like king

Jean is 35 yrs old and Oliviera looks too small to play that position. He was always getting bundled over and losing the ball. W Connection is only an 8 year old club and the PFL isn't even nearing 10 years yet some posters expect the standard of play to be similar to that of the MFL.  Check back in history to see how long the Mexican Football League has been around? Better yet do the research on how much history clubs like Chivas, Cruz Azul, Pumas, Necaxa, and Pachuca have ::)

Very disappointed that Connection lost this game. They showed no creativity and no individualism throughout except when Toussaint came on.

The defence was responsible for goals 2 and 3. The keeper Beckles has to take the blame for goal no1. I will forgive him because he's only 20 yrs old and was playing the biggest game of his career thus far. He still has a lot to learn but I think he's a good GK. He's better than Jan Williams in my estimation.

Chivas passed the ball well and they looked inventive. Players were running into spaces and they knew where each other was and I think that was the difference. They looked really comfortable on the ball. I think Connection tried to hold on to that one goal lead for too long. That puts pressure on your defense what they needed to do was to hold the ball and frustrate Chivas.

Anyways good luck to Connection next year. Their academy is good. they have very good young players. :applause:

I watched that game the other night.  A more one-sided game would be hard to find.

W Connection have some serious licks to get.

What is more of a concern, however, is the fact that W Connection is a top team that often dominates the PFL.  They looked TOTALLY outclassed against Chivas.

PFL quality (or lack of it) was on show that night, regardless of the final score.

The Mexican commentators wer having an argument whether W Connection was a Professional team or an amateur set up.  One commentator said that no, he spoke to Seabra the night before and Seabra told him that yes, they were professional.  The other commentator replied, "the quality of the players does not show a professional team at all.  I am sure that many of them drive taxis during the day as well."

W Connection have some serious licks to get.

who cares what the mexican commentators think. Mexican teams don't like to lose to CFU because they think CFU teams are inferior so what do you expect?

Any excuse will be made up to try to justify losing. I was ova on BS and I read all the post about the Chivas/Connection match. First the Chivas fans claimed they lost because they were over confident...then they blamed the player selection...then the coaching tactics and the list goes on... ;D

You would do well to stop making these people feel that they are the best thing since slice bread. They struggle to beat CFU teams  namely Trinidad and Tobago teams in the Caribbean. I wan't them ousted justr because of their arrogance and if Connection does that they will get alot more respect not only for the club but for CFU football in general ;)

Let's begin by pointing out that yes, CFU club teams ARE inferior to the Mexican club teams.  There is no doubt about that.  The quality of the Mexican league is incredible.

Secondly, I believe that W Connection did surprise Chivas.  They must have been surprised of how little quality W Connection had, and lulled themselves to sleep.  In a home and away series, a team that knows it is way better than an opponent can get lazy in a first leg away knowing that the home leg is still to come.

Thirdly, I would like W Connection to win.  Of course I would.  But a 4 goal thrashing is not out of the question.  Don't be surprised at all if Connection gets humbled.

As goes the commentators, I agree that there may be a bit of arrogance there, but what do you expect with a country that has literally owned CONCACAF for the past 20 years?

And to Ponnoxx whp talked about tactics in football..... boy what to say?  I agree that W Connection may have set out to soak up pressure, defend with 11, and play on the counter, but come on.... the Mexican finishing was woesome and they looked like they were toying with Connection.  Not just that, the Connection players (except Seabra, Goulart, Jean and the last stopper who was taking the goal kicks) looked like real amateurs.  They couldn't even string 5 passes together.  It was pathetic.

That being said, when last has anyone seen a defender taking goal kicks for a keeper who is not injured?  That is something I have not seen for YEARS.  Real Under-14 thing.

Come on fellas, face it nah.  The display was piss poor, the result was great, but the away leg is real licks for Connection.

While I agree that the Mexican League is the best in Concacaf you seem to overrate them too much. Maybe you feel inferior to Mexicans but the Connection players obviously didn't!

You speak of the fact that W Connection couldn't put 5 passes together. Did you also see where Chivas' had most of the possession and couldn't break down the pesky Connection defence. With 10 players they had to defend for the most part yet they managed to score two goals against a top Concacaf club side....what does that tell you?

That in itself is afeat and the coaching tactics used by the Connection coach worked. even the tactical substitution payed dividends for the team.

You are a perfect example of someone who cannot accept a win even though the way it was achieved wasn't to your liking. If you think that making 30-40 passes in a midfield and not being able to create openings in the opposing teams defence is good football then you have a lot to learn about the beautiful game  ;D

Good luck to Connection in the return leg at jalisco stadium. They will not bunker and play for a draw. I know they will get a good result because they will attack the goats but play smart football.

Another good thing is that they are going 9 days ahead of match day. They will be ready and focused for the task at hand.  :bringiton:

Pelt yuh shot Fevrier. You tell dem!!! Stand up fuh yuh side.

W Connection is a cut above most teams and they have proven it with the quality players they have. They go on touroutside of Trinidad often, plus they have a very solid youth academy with good coaches and that transpires into their senior team. Teh problem still lies with other teams in the PFL that re not up to Connection's level. They have the money to invest in players as we've seen. :applause: :applause:

I attended the game and i must say this was one of the most one sided games I've seen for a long while.  Chivas totally dominated the game and should have won comfortably. The level of their passing game was a sight to behold. So much so that for much of the second half even though Connection were only one goal down, they seemed resigned to accept defeat to a better side. They chased shadows for most of the game and seemed clueless about making a few consecutive passes much less threaten the Chivas goal. Trinidad football is just not ready for that high level of football. Pacheco, Toussaint and most of the Connection teamed looked dam shitty. I also attended their game against the Hatian club in which these players looked liked great prospects. It just shows the gulf between the level of football.

That said, it's goals that win matches and Connection's best player Earl Jean got one and Seabra also. Seabra, even though much too slow still has better touches than most of the other Connection players. Connection was very very lucky and can only hope that lightning strikes twice in Mexico. There is simply nothing to compare - it's boys against men.

Don't let the result fool you, our football has a long long way to go. It looked worst than the T&T vs C.R. game ( ten men or not).

I will wait to see video footage before forming an opinion. Sometimes you need that extra bit of luck and maybe Connection got it tonite, but I don't think they're half as bad as you seem to think. Did you ever stop to think that maybe they had an off night? Who knows what their capabilities are. For them to beat Chivas should say something about the grit and determination of the players after having the GK sent off.
