2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: Thread for the T&T vs England game.

T&T have done themselves proud.  Top performance and you made England look exactly what they are.  A distinctly average side.  Fantastic performance from all of the T&T lads especially our local hero Chris Birchall

Well done Soca Warriors . Watched the match in my Garden in sunny Wrexham(even got our faces painted up in red & Black). If you can hold up to Sweden with 10 men for half of the game I predict good things for you against england. I dont know if you saw them play this afternoon but they just scraped an unconvincing 1-0 win they were Garbage. Truly Over rated

Shaka hislop - a true hero

cant wait for Thursday to come

Come on T&T !!!!!!!

I suppose the Welsh can only dream of being garbage on the biggest stage in football though  ;)

I see Hector Sam still has a chance of making it.  Played a friendly game for Vale the other day but apparently looked off the pace and still short of getting back in the Vale 1st team.  It may have all happened too soon for him unfortunately

This is not our best chance to win the World Cup.  Our best chance was 4 years ago when we were playing against 10 Brazilians and failed to capatilise.  Quarter Finals again for England me thinks

Birchill is the best crosser on the T&T team but he dose not have enough skill&speed to get around other teams defences maybe he can develope into a good winger with you guys.

I still don't rate him as a winger purely because he struggles to get past people and I don't think he is quick enough to do it.  I would prefer to see him in the position he plays for T&T but we have players who already play there and do a solid job.

Steups yuh like shit eh.

ah go be dey sooner dan yuh think socapro.

Please PM or email meh & leh meh know the date yuh hoping to fly over so we can plan how the WN will be moving nah?!

I trying to arrange for Ashton Ford (T&T High Commission attache) & Terry Joseph (from the Trinidad Express) to attend the event on Easter Thursday but I want to ensure they have someone real entertaining to ole-talk with plus someone who could take ah good interview for the progamme about how they expect the Soca Warriors to do in Germany. They will be interviewing me too.

Thats who that was at Vale yesterday.  Ashton Ford did a speech before the game at Vale yesterday.

Something I have forgot to mention about this game yesterday is that there was a T&T theme at Vale.  There was a steel drum band, T&T flags were handed out and outside the main entrance where the English flag flies there is now a T&T flag fluttering in the wind next to the English one.

This can all be seen in the pictures if anyone does sign up.

I am struggling to get the pics off the Vale site and onto here.  The only way I can imagine you will be able to view them is to sign yourselves up to the Vale website.  It don't cost anything and only takes a few minutes to complete the sign up

I don't know whether this will work.  It may ask you to sign in.  If you can't get access let me know and I will try to post some individual snaps on here.  There are some pics that you will like to see from the game yesterday.

Just to keep you all updated with the goings on at Chris Birchall's club.  Another win yesterday for the lads.  A solid performance by every player and Birchall would be up there amongst the best players of the day.  Put in some wicked crosses and made some good runs.  Maybe he is a bit of a winger after all.  Too late for us to get anywhere in this league this season but if we can finish this season on a high then we can be ready for next season after Birchall as played on the World's biggest stage.

Birchall as played the last 2 games for Vale wearing bandages and strapping on his right wrist/arm.  Don't really know what the problem is but would appear to be some sort of strain.  Not stopping him from going into challenges and giving 110% so I don't think it is anything for you guys to worry about.

I will try to keep you updated as much as I can.

As this injury ruined it for him then or would he not have been travelling to Germany anyway.  We really need him back because we lack strikers with pace and that is something he definitely as.

Thanks Grande man

It was definitely a goal straight out of the Van Basten handbook.  I think the linesman flagged because the ball had gone out of play when it was crossed in.  It is difficult to get hold of highlights of the lower league teams in England.  The best way to see Port Vale highlights would be to sign up to Valiant World which is on the Port Vale website.  You have to pay forthis privelege though so I don't bother.  The website is www.port-vale.co.uk just in case you are interested

I am sure I can fit in a few pints on your behalf.  Good to hear that you will be back in the UK.  Shame our football season is coming to a close.  You are yet to experience the spleandour that is Vale Park.  Oh well there is always next season for that.

Keep me up-to-date as to when you are touching down in the cold climate of the UK.  Anyway as it is 1:14am here in the UK I better go get some sleep.  Not expecting to get much sleep tomorrow night  ;D

Good to hear off you again.  Look after yourself

truetrini my man.  How are things going?  I will definitely be keeping an eye out for my hat as will the rest of the guys.

Ozzy and the guys have told me to make sure I say hello next time I hear from you.  I will pass your hello onto them tomorrow when we meet up at the game.  It's Port Vale vs Swansea City tomorrow.  Should be a good game.  But more importantly me, ozzy and the guys are all going on a good old fashioned Vale drinking session after the game to celebrate a Port Vale victory.

You all sorted for the World Cup now.  Tickets and travel etc sorted?

Don't know whether you have all been following Hector's progress since he broke his leg 8 months ago.  In case you haven't I am pleased to say he is now back in full training and is very close to participating in a competitive game for Port Vale.  We didn't get to see much of him before he got injured but I could see the potential there.

Do you reckon he will be in the World Cup squad if he proves his fitness????

I like that idea from Wrexham.  Everyone at Vale will be right behind Birchall and T&T as well but we, for obvious reasons, will be supporting England all the way.  Wrexham fans will find it easier to follow T&T ahead of any other nation because Wales didn't qualify (again!!!)  ;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D

It's always better to have a really close league.  Makes the season more exciting than if one team races away with the title

So could be anyone's league this season then?  Will the season run alongside the World Cup then?  The English leagues are always finished in time for the when the World Cup starts

I will go for a 1-1 draw for this one.  Will be a good game though because both teams are playing good attacking football at the moment.  I do feel that Man Utd have left it al too late to catch Chelsea and win the title this year.  Bus as always with Man Utd they will be back and better next season

Thanks for the welcome Cowen.  Port Vale's manager seems to think that Birchall is a winger even though it is obvious to everyone else that he is not.  We were told by trutrini when we met him that Birchall is more influential when use in the defensive midfield position with him pushing on when he can like T&T use him.

We did think he had scored the goal of the season when we played on Tuesday night when he struck a volley across the goal, over the keeper and in off the far post but unfortunately it was disallowed.  We still wone though  ;D

Not long till the World Cup now.  We are keeping Chrissy Birchall warm for you guys so he is in top condition for the tournament.  He is still being played out of position for Port Vale though.  Hope you are all well especially Trutrini and the guys who came to watch Port Vale play a while back.

Was a fantastic day on that cold day stood in the stands at Brentford, London with trutrini and the guys.  Glad to hear that trutrini is making a recovery from his illness.

I see you had a good win against Iceland at Loftus Road.  Shame Vale couldn't manage the same result in their game on the same night.  We obviously missed 'me mum.'  I have checked the pictures from the game and I am well pleased to see my Jester hat proudly sat on trutini's head.  I will be looking out for it in Germany during the World Cup
