Klinsmann quits as Germany coach
July 11, 2006

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Juergen Klinsmann, who coached Germany to a third-place finish at the World Cup last week, is stepping down, the co-president of the German soccer federation said early Wednesday.

"I regret his decision, but we have to accept it," Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder said.

The mass-circulation Bild newspaper and the Sueddeutsche Zeitung first reported in their Wednesday editions that Klinsmann wouldn't extend his contract that ended with the World Cup.

Klinsmann called German soccer federation (DFB) co-president Theo Zwanziger and national team manager Oliver Bierhoff to tell them that he would not be staying in the job, the papers reported.

DFB spokesman Harald Stenger confirmed that Klinsmann had called Zwanziger and Bierhoff but would not disclose the details of the conversation.

The two newspapers said Klinsmann's assistant Joachim Loew was the likely successor.

Klinsmann's rejuvenated team went beyond expectations by finishing third, after losing to eventual champion Italy 2-0 in the semifinals.

Klinsmann, 41, had no previous coaching experience when he took over an ailing German squad two years ago.

After Germany beat Portugal 3-1 to take third place, Klinsmann said he would think about his future over the next few days and consult with his California-based family.

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: Is food expensive in Frankfurt Germany
« on: March 28, 2006, 01:08:15 AM »
How expensive is food in Frankfurt, and other cities.

It depends... on your food habits.
The prices below are average prices.

If you go to average Restaurants in the evening, you pay about 10.- to 20.- Euro per meal plus drinks, beer is 2 - 4 Euro!
If you go for a snack at a bakery for example, you get good sandwiches and pastries from 1.- to 3.- Euro.
At the butcher you get warm and cold snacks for 1 - 3 Euro.
At oriental snack bars you get fast food like Doner Kebab (Nr. 1 in Germany) or Falafel or Grilled Chicken from 3 - 5 Euro.
There are Asian snack bars where you get main dishes and snacks from 3 - 10 Euro
There are also classical Bratwurst Stands where you will get many varieties of the sausage from 2 - 4 Euro.
You will also find the big fast food restaurants like McDonalds (Menu 5.-) , Burger King, KFC.

Bon Appetit.

The location is super central a 3 min. walk to frankfurt main station and also almost in the middle of the redlight district....

Ryan, Rotenburg is close to Bremen, thats in the North, so it is quite far to the places you have to go for football stadiums of interest. If you like to be close to the team, well, good luck to see them there.......they will also travel to the stadiums, I think in general a day before. Rotenburg will celebrate with Guests of TnT, of course, and maybe better than other towns do, because it is a small town and they don´t have so many things to celebrate during the year so they will be hungry for the party. But between these days... who knows. Cities like Frankfurt/Main give you better travel and party and culture abilities, also for spontaneous actions like meet people, etc.

hard luck voodoofo, welcome to sw.net, you r offer is very, very kind.  due to how the portal is shaping up, just giving you a ticket appears to be becoming veery difficult.  But I'd appreciate if i'm still invited tyo watch the rest of the games and have a few complimentary beers at your house nevertheless.
:beermug: :beermug: :beermug: :beermug: :beermug: :beermug:
a cold six pack of beers, in germany we call it a man´s handbag, you´re welcome.
