WOW! LOL

Is this a joke? This is proof of how ignorant some people can be! All I did was posted my opinion on the new interim coach and asked for opinions from others and I just get people attacking me personally. I am not a foreigner, I am ah Trini! I was born a Trinidadian and I am proud of my heritage! How could you make the connection that if I don't like Latas as the new coach, I'm not a true Trini? I never dissed Latas you idiots! I just said I don't think he would be suitable to coach our national squad when we really need wins! We have 2 points out of 9! This is not the time to play with interim coaches! I really pray that Trinidad wins their next game, or else the rest of you will never hear the end of it!

For those who had something constructive to say, Thanks. For those who just read what they wanted to read, grow up!

Football / Where's Beenie?
« on: April 18, 2009, 05:09:13 PM »
Anyone know the status on the mighty Leo Beenhakker? Can someone give him a call or something and tell that there may be a chance for him in TNT? LOL

I think Latapy is a great PLAYER....he is exactly that! It would be ignorant to think that a first-time player turned coach can really lead a "troubled" team to a World Cup! I don't think he has the experience nor know-how to coach this team, as much as some might think he can...sorry, not happening.

Which brings us to my point on Beenie. I was just watching the "Warriors Dedication" video on Youtube and I saw how hard our warriors fought to get there and when they got there! We held England to nothing in the 80-something minute and we almost scored before that! I just wish I can see the team I saw then, now! We could beat USA and possibly Mexico if we had the right leadership and the right mindset.

I know its improbable, but I truely think he need a coach who knows what he is doing. Beenie brought a European style of play to a carribbean team and it worked! We need Beenie back, or atleast a coach with his credentials! What about that German coach who took Greece to the Euro Finals and won it?

As optimistic as I am, I don't see much materializing out of Latapy being the head coach of our national squad. It may sound like a good story in the press, but this is bound to lead to failing results!

Let me know what alluy think! (and I'm sorry if a similar post like this has already been posted)

I still find it so hard to believe that Trinidad and Tobago isn't in the game as an international club!

What do we have to do? Win a flickin world cup for the to put us in?

We were in the germany 2006 game...and it was amazing, but not anymore? why? the license can't be that hard to get...

For now, I am playing the Germany game on Xbox 360 until TNT finally makes it to a Fifa game!

Steups.
Steups to what? You think Maturana is a capable man...I'd be suprised to find out if he even dresses himself every morning! I can manage the TNT side better than Maturana!

BRING BACK BEENIE! SIMPLE AS THAT!

This Maturana has no idea how to manage we side. Birchall, Stern John should both be starting, they ent even on the flickin' team! Julius James...has he started yet? if no, he should start instead of Hislop because that boy should be playing house league somewhere, not on a national side. And still...DENNIS LAWRENCE? Whey he dey? On de bench! Oh lord I am so frustrated at this nonsense!

WE NEED A NEW COACH!

What is this madness? Dennis Lawrence, the captin of the TNT defence not starting? 2nd half now, still not playing! Come on now!

WHO HAVE BEENIE NUMBER?

What you guys think?

You may have already heard the rumours, but apparently there will be a vote to determine whether the CONCACAF qualifying group, will be lowered to top 3 spots instead of top 3.5. The reason for this possible vote is that the CONCACAF teams aren't strong or skilled enough to deserve 3.5 places for the World Cup. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Before you vote, let us consider the variable that could change or leave alone the qualification standards.

Trinidad was the ".5" team that had to play a playoff with Bahrain, if that .5 spot wasn't there we wouldn't have made it. However we did put on quite a show and shocked the world with a 0-0 draw with Sweden and we held England to nothing for 82 minutes. I believe we definitely deserved to be there.

USA had a quite unexpected World Cup with a 1-1 draw with Italy, but they still failed to qualify for the second round. USA ended in second place in the CONCACAF division and ended with the same amount points and the same record as TNT in the world cup, maybe they did deserve to be there, they fought hard against a "dirty" Italian side and pulled off a huge upset.

Costa Rica failed to win or tie any of their games in the World Cup and left with 3 losses. They did create quite a shocking display when they tied Germany, however they lost at 4-2. They played hard, but Equador was also too strong for them, maybe they didn't deserve to be there.

Finally, Mexico, a team that lived up to their expectations and beat Iran in their first game, then they tied Angola and lost a close game against Portugal 2-1. They were the only CONCACAF team to qualify for the second round, but after a enduring extra time finish, they lost 2-1 to the Argentines who are a obvious World Cup favorite. For fighting hard, comming close to pulling off a huge upset and their creative attacking play, Mexico definitely deserved to be there.

My opinions may be biased, but I tried to use results to back them up.

I beleive that we do deserve the current 3.5 spots of qualifying for the world cup. These teams can only build from here, especially Trinidad and Tobago with their impressive debut. And isn't this what the World Cup is about? To show diversity throughout the styles of play when the top 32 nations of the world get together for the greatest tournament in to the world? I would like to think so.

Lemme know what you think

We should really make a poll and vote for it. And we can render awards in the end. Just to lift spirits a little bit.

FINALLY A REAL DECENT POSITIVE POST.

Yeah I felt bad for Sancho, but things happen. Its just karma, paraguay got a own goal scored on them that was the game winner and the same happened to us with them.

It's all good though. You are a true WARRIOR to the end!

12
You want to talk about Latas? I love Latapy, I think he is a great player, but I also understand that he is getting old and his endurance is suffering due to his smoking. Latas wouldn't last a entire game and play hard from start to finish. Beenie was playing for a tie against Sweden and England, you can tell. So what place does a entertaining striker have in that? I agree that Latas should've came on earlier in the game, but I know Beenie was saving him as his "secret weapon." You want to say that we wouldn't be in the World Cup without Latapy. This is funny. Last time i checked, he was in international retirement for about half the qualification. He did have a impact, but don't say the coach had nothing to do with it.

No local coach could take us to the world cup. Not right now anyway. Especially with this negative talk saying "would've" "could've" "didn't." Now its like Trinidadians have to defend Trinidad and Tobago against other Trinis. It is full nonsense.

Idiots, think before you talk.

I did cry. I cried when I saw TNT come out of that tunnel with Paraguay knowing we had a chance at the final 16. Pure tears of joy! No matter what the others say, I AM ONE PROUD TRINI.

All I know is that I have my Trinidad and Tobago flag in the window of my house ( I live in Toronto) and that flag will stay there until the end of the World Cup! I ain't jumping on any ban waggons anytime soon!

General Discussion / Re: It's my BIRTHDAY TODAY!
« on: June 16, 2006, 12:05:53 AM »
Well I didn't exactly get my birthday present, but we came close and put a good fight so I am happy. My favorite part of the day was when a England fan in the bar I was in (in Toronto) said "Oh now TNT is in trouble" when Rooney came on. And then I told him "well too bad they couldn't score in the first half" to the jeers of all my friends. Definitely the highlight of my day. The fact that we kept the English down to nothing for 82 minutes is a big feat for a country of only 1.1 million.

I had fun and I will keep my head up high! We were robbed in that Crouch goal, but thats football and we got to move on and really play hard against Paraguay and hope for a huge lose for Sweden.

THANK YOU EVERYONE ON THIS POST. AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIN!

Football / Re: I now see why Saudi Arabia
« on: June 15, 2006, 11:53:51 PM »
Don't you ever! EVER! say something like that about Don Leo! Beenie got us to where we are! Where were we before he was our coach coach? I believe we were last or second last in the standings. You should know that when playing teams like ENGLAND and SWEDEN that defence is a key. They have some of the most dangerous strikers in the world! and let's face it, we aren't exactly expected to win the world cup so we have played excellent considering our position in this world stage.

Look at that scoring chance we had at the end of the second half! You think a team without a great coach can do that!?!

Our strategy was plain and simple. Play hard defence and when we get controlled possession, work the short passes and cross into the box. It is practical. We can't go guns firing with a strong offensive game with world class strikers on the other team. It just makes sense.

As for Saudi Arabia. Last time I checked, they blew away 2 points in extra time during their first game. Maybe if they played defensive like Trinidad, they would've had that game. Yeah sure we got scored on in that last 8 minutes of the game, but we were clearly fouled, even my friend, who isn't trinidadian, pointed that out.

So before you judge our coach, use the facts. We still have a chance! Hold your head up high! I know I was still walking around with my Trinidad and Tobago kit and my flag in Toronto after we lost. I SAY WIN OR LOSE I AM A FIGHTER!

What a birthday present! Trinidad and Tobago vs. England in the world cup on my birthday! It's gonna be GREAT! I'm going out with a couple of friends to watch the game, here in Toronto. And when we win, I am going to destroy the Danforth area (Torontonians know where I am talking about).

I am now officially 19! WOOOOOOOOO!

Football / Re: should a go 4 de win in the last 10
« on: June 10, 2006, 09:42:57 PM »
it is true, we could've went for the whole 3 points, but that would open up our defence a lot! and look at all the chances Sweden got near the end of the game. Sometimes its good not to go for it all and play more conservative. For example from today, Ivory Coast played a good attacking game against Argentina today and they left the game without a point.

Beenie is SMART! the man know what he doing and it is usually obvious why he doing it. The team played disciplined, organized at times and they played very hard. As a TNT fan, I can't ask for any more!

21
I was jus saying NO! NO WAY! I was in disbelief and so excited just thinking of the state of Port of Spain after 1.2 million people have a giant part there! Imagine, after the first round of group B, England and Trinidad and tied with 3 points each. WOW! so close!

22
Well nobody really expected us to hold our ground against such a offensive team like sweden. We got one or two good chances to score as well. But their tone really did change at the end of the game. However, the main point of this thread is that a BASEBALL commentator had something negative to say against our team on the day before the game. He was way out of line and WAY out of his league to say a sarcastic comment about the probable score envolving the TNT vs. Sweden game. He didn't say anything about the population size, but nevertheless, the comments were made. I even heard that the host from Breakfast Television on CP24 in Toronto, had something to say as well, but he apologized the day later. It just isn't professional for these people who know jack shit about football to be running their mouths.

That is why I want us to let the network know that they were out of line. They should show TNT the same respect that they show every other country, no matter what the odds.

P.S. FOR CANADIAN VIEWERS: the game is replaying right now on tsn. I think the encore started at around 9/9:30! Enjoy and Celebrate!

Come June 15th, we are no longer underdogs, but competition to a weak English team (if your saw the England game, they played horrible).

23
Respect to the Soca Warriors for holding on to the tie, even with 10 men. It funny, look at how the negative comments go to positive after we shut up the world in just one match. The sportscaster said something like "I can't wait to see the score after the Trinidad and Tobago vs. Sweden match." in a sarcastic manner, but thats not a exact quote. He had no reason to say it, since he is a baseball analyst and not a football. I already send them my hate mail. Even if you not living in the Toronto, let them know how you feel.

24
Act now! during a BASEBALL! that's right, a BASEBALL game, the commentor of the Blue Jays vs. Tigers game on June 9th 2006, made some sarcastic comments towards the outcome of the Trinidad and Tobago vs. Sweden game. I know the odds on paper are against us, but a commentator needs to be more professional than that, especially when broadcasting throughout Canada. We are not a laughing stock! Let rogers know how you feel as a Trinidadian! Send them as much hate mail as you can! make them publicly apologize. This isn't fair.

Here is the e-mail address, I've already sent mine. feedback@sportsnet.rogers.com

Very nice preacher. Let us pray...tonight, tommorrow morning, half time and after the game. No matter the score, we keep faith.

The world is against us, the odds are against us, but this wouldn't be the first time a Trinidadian has had to face adversity. Let us pray. Let us pray. Amen.

I've been a member of this forum a few weeks before the second round of qualification for Germany. But I have been a Soca Warrior fan since the Korea campaign (I'm only 18). I wasn't a member of the forum before then, because I simply didn't know it existed. I would just like to say, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. I have never seen a forum so dedicated and supporting. I would also like to thank everyone who keeps this forum going, the admins (you know who you are!)

We have come a long way, from beating Mexico 2-1 in the last game of scheduled qualification, to Dennis Lawrence's golden header that carried us above and beyond Bahrain to the World Cup. We have come a long way, as the smallest nation (population wise) to ever qualify to the World Cup, in our first year with a talented team and excellent coach, it is our turn.

WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY, so as team Trinidad and Tobago grace the pitch in Germany on June the 10th on a world stage, I want the world to not only witness what the Soca Warriors are made of, but I want the world to hear every single person in our 1.2 million populated country, chant, yell and get on bad!

Doesn't matter if we win, tie or lose, I will be a Soca Warrior supporter FOREVER! Who else is with me!
