When ever we get over the saddening mentality that any and everything that's foreign is better than what we have at home, things will change. We cry down and do not give any sort of true, solid, genuine support to any thing local creating a psychological effect on the chosen ones, thus putting immense pressure on them.

Just read the posts here and tell me truly how many have thrown themselves in Eve's corner, no body has yet said "OK Angus, we got your back here". Just criticism after criticism. I can tell that most of the posters here just have a computer and they can use it. Inexperienced in anything football wise. This is not for you Coop's.

Supporters in the good times and hackers when things ain't going good. Once a supporter ALWAYS a supporter. If you jump ship in the middle you may drown. Wish some of you just do that.

Whatever is said about Kenwyne, he is one of the most educated and well spoken footballers coming out of T&T. Read his comments on comparisons made between himself and Drogba. He will do great with this new venture.

As regards his skills anybody who knows the game can tell that he has improved tremendously. I feel, and this is my opinion, that he was psychologically affected by seeing Bent take the spotlight away from him. No kudos went his way when he performed at his best. That can be a breaker for anybody. Football at that level is not only the skill. The psyche comes into play as well.

It is very refreshing to see a son of the soil making an impact in a community not his own. Great job Kenwyne, you have lots of support. Do not give up!!!

Football / Re: What made Arthur Suite's ASL so Successful?
« on: March 28, 2009, 12:44:35 PM »
It has been said over and over that timing is everything and that is what made Arthur Suite's intervention into the football arena memorable. The vision he had for football in T&T is having it's living reality today. Football was not at the level it could have been so he introduced a league which brought players with skill, purpose and a lot more added to the forefront. It was a community thing with all converging on the PSA grounds to see the best  at the time. The standard and quality of football and football players just went from 2 to 8. It happened overnight it would seem.
There are names that still hang around from that era like Spann, La Forest and others that are bound to be mentioned when we talk about football development in T&T. It was not then, and will never be a dying sport. Arthur capitalized on a non-functioning TTFF league and brought a life to the game that was important and very well perhaps unprecedented. Hence the reason why it was not sanctioned by FIFA.
Jack Warner's birth into the control of football emerged then and we are reaping the rewards today. What he did by preventing the league from prospering cannot be forgotten. Incidentally he, Jack, is the only man with the kind of vision for football in T&T today. How ironic that is, even though it is to fill his pockets.
Arthur Suite could have achieved much more but what he did to stabilize football and bring attention to players with real class who could have been exposed to the world stage cannot be forgotten. It was a really lively and extensively attractive time for football then.

Peg, i eh care wha nobody say...you totally right in yuh assessment. Ah mean to say, when we go move on man, when. SO because other men from other country pull men outa the back room we must do that too? Men talking about Jack and he bussing dey throat wid scheme after scheme after scheme. Give you a dollar and take back 99c when you eh lookin and leave you wit hone smelly cent. Latas is certainly the best I have seen in  ages but 40 years old is a bit too much after we have some young brave talented and determined youths eager to rise. Give Latas a definite plan to get things going. Everybody in T&T football look up to the man. He is a standard to emulate. But oh gosh man ...when people, when. Qualifying is important but my goodness sacrifice something nah. if not now then build to the next one. Get the much needed experience now and then work you bbones off to accomplish. all yuh could blast me but is ok. Nice post Peg

Football / Re: Leonson Lewis. Was he really that good?
« on: September 20, 2008, 10:10:35 AM »
Leonson was as good as rated. Look I saw Leonson in a build up game to the 1990 WC playing against a South American team,  think it was Paraguay {I stand corrected} and from where I was in the covered stands he started from the half line cutting in towards the goal and beat five men in the process. He leave them in they boots wondering what happen. Then the most beautiful left foot in the history of T&T football took the keeper the wrong way...boom GOAL!!!!! I saw him against an English team, whoever that was, and in the box he collected facing the bleachers, turned and let loose a left foot up in the jepp nest. School football, the man was just too good on the left. A perfect choice for T&T football in his day. And that is only some recollections of his talent.

Tallman, I saw PFCC play at the top of their game several times, and although they may not have won many silver they were the most talked about team in their era. Yes Defence Force was great but PFCC always played very exciting football. They were the team many wanted to beat and failed. I think they had some of the youngest players on their team at the time who also filled many places on the South team when the rivalry between North and South came about. I think this spoke a lot about the skill and talent of the likes of Archie, De Leon, Wilfred 'Bound to score' Cave, Dick Furlonge, hard hitting with any foot Steve David, and the others. Boss team I must say. Archie used to drop beats on man and laugh loud loud going down the wing. Only teeth showing. Great football for their time.

jus to give me lil 2 pence. I think that the Mat man has more time with the team than Wim did, and he had to not only prepare the best team possible but it was also necessary to get the best players at his disposal to get the job done. That said if he had used local players who had no track record as against the foreign based players in the likes of Dwight, Edwards etc. who had overly proved their capability and experience then it would have been an uphill climb.
The Mat man has experimented since he has come in and showed along the way the progress needed in his coaching skills and in getting the job done. Yes, I agree not to everyone's liking but if one takes a careful look we will see a progressively interesting build up. The guys have gained much more confidence in themselves and that is a BIG plus for local based players. The Mat man eh so bad after all. But we have to wait still to see if we can reach the summit. Time will tell.

Football / Re: Keane: Loyalty a two-way street in football
« on: July 18, 2008, 11:27:31 PM »
As a manager things are seen from an entirely different perspective than a player does. It somehow makes one cringe when you know that he has two of our more proficient players in Edwards and Jones in his squad. He makes reference to players treated like "piece of meat". Do you think as a manager he is anything different than those he seems to be pointing his gun at? The amount of money these guys have at their disposal, it is at times very easy to get rid of you as quickly as they get you. Loyalty can really be a "two-way street" but the manager directing the traffic, so who really is the winner?
