In case you missed it, Special 1 TV has been back for the duration on the world cup

episodes 1-6 can be seen here or on youtube

Enjoy, these writers are brilliant, however i believe the show has been toned down somewhat, perhaps BBC is afraid of a law suite

The positives so far is that latas can now confirm that he needs to start building an entirely new team

i have not seen 3 passes strung together by tnt.

and with densil at the helm of midfield we can expect nothing positive

if its an under 23 squad we should at least be able to string 3 passes together and have 1 shot on goal, i havent seen either

Dear Diego

The kid messi has loads of talent, many think he is just as good as you were and even better and he just needs a world cup to have his name forever etched in history as the greatest.

You have one of the most potent strike force on the planet, including Messi, Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain , Diego Milito and the inform Lucas Barrios from Borussia Dortmund, contributing more than 120 goals in their respective league plays and the season is not yet done, however your midfield is dead!!! and it’s a shame you cant get past your personal differences to include one of the masters of the game  Juan Román Riquelme. We seem to have to live with that decision, so here’s a piece of advice

Try Messi in a center midfield position, you need not worry about the strikers they are more than capable but I think messi has enough quality and creativity to exploit any team from the center of the park and open the spaces for the strikers, partner messi in midfield with holding and defensive mids. I guarantee you he has the passing and creative ability to make and exploit space for the strikers and even go on to contribute goals with some of his mazing runs.

They compare him to you, and think what position did you play ? I think its worth a shot because you need a prayer otherwise.

Dear Dunga

Don’t get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy Dunga i dont know what the man did to you but thats harsh especially given ronnie's recent form

"Overall, Brazil showed enough in the second half to suggest they are moving in the right direction ahead of their latest brush with destiny, but Dunga dropped something of a bombshell as he appeared to close the door on Ronaldinho's return to the national team ahead of the World Cup.

"Ronaldinho has had his chance to show what he can do on the pitch, but the decisions over this group have been made now and I am happy with what we have,"
Dunga said.

That being said, it is not possible (or necessary) for him/her to keep his eyes only "on the ball" for the entire duration of a game in order to maintain control. A person uses direct vision, peripheral vision and perception to observe a football match, referees and linesmen included, and from the looks of things, this referee was in a good enough position to see that the Porto player quickly and purposefully satisfied the requirements to take the free-kick: he deadened the ball and was generally accurate with the location.  That his back was turned from the play was instantaneous with the ball actually being kicked and as clumsy as that looked, sol campbell, as well as his fellow defenders were all at fault for their own apathy towards the play.  The GK was the one with the ball in his hand and should have done more (keep the ball and rally his defenders with URGENCY) to delay the play.  It's not the end of the world for arsenal.  If they recover from all their injuries, they just might pull this one out @ home and Porto will rue all their missed chances.  :beermug:

Just Curious Mango does that pic change your opinion even a wee bit...............This is what i saw and why i drew my conclusion. He didn’t see the ball being spotted. His back was turned and the kick immediately followed the spot. Again his back still turned. Come on you must find some issue with it now

He didn't see herry's handball in that game butthat dont make it right

On another note why is sol trying to grab the man piggee

Mango Chow

"Nobody has to wait until the referee is "in control" of the game or is in "good view" of the ball.  Obviously, not even the ref"

Mango your opinion is respected however if you stick by the above quote
then whats the purpose of even having a ref in a game, its for control of the game and to view all the plays to make calls. The ref must ALWAYS have his eyes on the ball to make calls and the lines men are there to assist in any off the ball incidents. From the kickoff the ref is in control his eyes on the ball. He must have a say and maintain control...thats just my opinion anything other than that is CHAOS just like portos goal

This is actually a good pic,

however this was after the ball was passed, and the striker about to shoot the ref actually never saw the freekick being taken. This aint acceptable who's to say if the ball was rolling or if he even rolled the ball with his hands into the path of the striker. (didnt happen but he wasnt in a position to oversee the kick. He wasn't incontrol of the play, his back was against the freekick being taken. he is actually still signalling for the freekick spot

But fault gunners for falling asleep
The referee only supposed to hold up play if the free kick takers ask for they ten yards, a man supposed to stand up on de ball one time... allyuh arsenal people is cry babies... good goal
agreed but the ref him self was not even watching the play, he was not in control,
who's to say if the guy didnt roll the ball to the attacker to take the strike
who's to say if the ball was in a dead ball position before the kick was taken
this was not the case, but the ref was in no position to oversee the play with his back being turned.

my point is " His back was turned against when the kick was taken, not even the ref was ready for the play he was saying something to sol cambell

gonna post a highlight link in a moment

Football / Portos goal vs Arsenal In UCL
« on: February 18, 2010, 06:14:40 AM »

Guys

what do you think about PC porto's goal in the UCL vs the gunners yesterday.

I agree that it is common practise to take a quick freekick but upon looking at the replays. I think that ref made a horrible decision in allowing the goal to stand

The replays clearly shows that

1) his back was to the play when the freekick was taken.
2) He was facing sol cambell impeading him from from getting involved in the  play
3) He did not allow the keeper time to go back to his line for the play
4) at the time the gunners were arguing about he play, his focus was not on the free kick
5) Was it an intensional back pass? i dont think so the ball was running to the keeper and sol was escorting it  but sols speed was faster than the ball and there was the slightest of touches on the run but not intensional

I totally agree that the gunners fell asleep but in all the confusion i think he could have used his better jugdment and call back the play. As was his performance against france he is clearly lacking in his judgements and should be barred from other major competitions.

just my opinion, probably a bit biased cause i like the gunners, what do you think ? bad karma for porto i think dey cut ass booked for 2nd round and no body will feel sorry

Football / Birmingham linked with £11m move for Kenwyne Jones
« on: January 07, 2010, 06:33:53 AM »
Birmingham have made an £11 million bid for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, according to reports.

Jones is reported to be keen on a move to St Andrew's

The Birmingham Mail suggests Alex McLeish has received encouragement from Steve Bruce after enquiring about Jones and that the Trinidad & Tobago international is also keen for the transfer to go through.

The news comes amid reports that moves for Liverpool's Ryan Babel, Schalke's Kevin Kuranyi and Celtic's Aiden McGeady have all foundered.

Birmingham, who are understood to have a £40 million transfer kitty following Carson Yeung's takeover, made a bid for Babel, believed to be in the region of £8 million, but the clubs are yet to come to an agreement and McLeish could now consider other targets.

A move for Kuranyi is said to have been abandoned after the 27-year-old former Germany striker demanded £70,000-a-week wages, while Celtic are believed to have no interest in allowing McGeady to leave the club.

Various newspapers have suggested that Sunderland could themselves make a £3.5 million move for Kuranyi, which would leave Jones surplus to requirements.

18
No body run to celebrate with him because they were afraid they got kicked in the teeth, dont act like you didnt expect to see the back flips,

who in their right mind would run to hug a guy doing a back flip

19
Bent aint no Jones and Jones aint no Bent

Bent is a quietly proven striker/finisher he runs, he hustles, he has good positioning, he can trap

Jones has decent height and good build, hasn't chased a ball since he got mash up vs england in the stadium
rarely scores with his feet. (dispite the game being called foot ball)

Jones dosent really pull defenders and allow Bent space, Bent is just better and more mobile thus he moves to the right spaces

Dont be hating Bent ....lets face it and be honest he is and will always be better than our boy
sad but true

I agree with bruce, i dont know what it would take but someone needs to light a fire under jones' ass, dont even know if there is much gas left in there, he is at his peak, imagine with age and weight he loses speed oh lawrd..............

Fellas i have seen lots of thrashing of zimorra and jones on this site, no one wanted to give zimorra a chance for the hex etc but having seen his recent form, it reminds me of what he is capable of

As of today both he and jones has 6 each in the EPL however bobby's goals were a hell of a lot more convincing, and he has that one advantage over KJ (he can actually trap the ball)

Both seem to be way more productive than scotty not that he is playing bad, however is scoreless position as a striker at this stage renders him ineffective.

what do you guys think should we have played him in the hex ? perhaps the future TnT squads, gold cup or something?

Ok just cool,  you are correct, the arguments for Darryl Roberts are sound and the selectors got it all worng, there is no way any of the other players should have been chosen before him and chances are we would have been in the world cup today if they included him

Big Mag

Well i could understand that point " if cubby get called" then why not roberts or anyone lol
I could not understand that call up, but according to our player pool he is listed as a forward

our current player pool of fwds include

Stern John
Kenwayne Jones
Jason Scotland
Colin Samuel
Cornell Glenn
Daryl Roberts
Andre Toussaint
recently kerry baptiste is used as a fwd (though some plps consider him a attacking mid)

We usually play max with 2 fwds so i gather they would walk with four or five max, they are always gonna pull the 3 biggest names, have a token local who is currently performing, if they did call him he would have probably been an unused sub and would warm bench just as Jason Scotland did for quite a few games. The only way i see them not pulling the biggest names is if the guy banged in goalsss (plural) for the TNT side.
The extra team cost would have been considered, beacuse i am assuming its cheaper to pull a player from england than from turkey

Life hard for darryl in the pecking order.. i see him down there with toussaint not because i dont rate his ability but the guys above him and locals just stand a better chance if not for high profile reasons but economic ones as well, he would probably stand a chance if he promoted him self as an attacking mid, because right now those positions in midfield are up for grabs.......as was mentioned if lyndon chubby andrews got called up, i may has well as waked with my boots to the game and sat close to the bench, latas perhaps would have looked around and said "eh fella yuh want a sweat? "

hey weary, i understand your call but hope that you do understand that i am not against darryl getting a play on the team, i am just saying that as the 23rd man economic reasons would also be a major factor in not calling him. Plus if i were daryll honestly i really wouldnt care to do all that flying (trini to UK then flyover germany, poland, check republic, hungry to get to turkey another couple hrs extra plus airport transit times)if i would merely be on the bench as a last resort(unless i wanted to visit my family at home), scotland went throught he same thing and wasnt amused to travel to two games in the Hex series and left on the bench, neither was his coach. The guys in england have it a lot easier due to logistics, travel cost and thier league being highly promoted especially over here . I just tried to put myself in the selectors shoes and understand why they didnt recall him for some games as i said its tough for daryll. If he was in MLS things may have been different. If they did recall him this thread perhaps would have been a lot bigger calling "why not kerry baptiste thread"  there is always gonna be calls for the next player, the selectors probably really have it difficult, but at the end of the day football=money and we as a country really dont help the cause by having empty stadium seats for the games, whos gonna want to pay that little bit extra when our revenues dont add up to our cost?

they got a good look at him in 2007 12 games 1 goals  including digicel cup  and goal cup, i would have expected players to rack up goals in the digicel up

In 2008 he got some caps 5 i think and scored two goals, one was a important goal vs bermuda, however the other was Vs DR where we routed them 9-0 (this dont count as being there it was a horrible training exercise)
DR looked like they just took 12 men standing in the airport at the time and asked them to board a flight to trinidad to play a soccer match.

No he wasnt called in the HEX but i think during 2007-2008 (17) caps in 2 years is very good and it was up to him to make his name a household one at that time, he failed to stake his claim on a place in the team, so i think its a bit unfair to say that he was over looked.

Is KJ better than him in my opinion not really, but KJ has all the commercial value right now, He is playing in the EPL ( a much more competitive league than turkey ) and is ranked weekly by the commentators etc (who i think must be blind cause they see something we dont) . But KJ will always get he nod over him based on where he plays and his contribution...it may not be fair but it makes sense

cool beans -

sorry by lower leagues in europe i didnt mean within that country but less competitive as compared with the other premier leagues in europe i.e - england, spain, germany, italian etc where the best talent resides and i holding those leagues in higher esteem is purely based on the success those countries (clubs) over the years in the UFEA champions league, a turkish or dutch club rarely makes it out of the group stages. (the recent success of that dutch club over Barca) dosen't count that was just "Vidou"

Just cool some of the stats i looked at were his 18 international caps, i witnessed most of them as some how i end up in these games with low attendance.

tried to find some info

international (includes caribbean cup)
18 caps 3 goals

current club Denizlispor
escaped religation last season on goal difference
currently in relegation zone this season

Years            Club              App (Gls)*
2005–2006    Carolina Dynamo   27 (17)
2007–2008    Sparta Rotterdam  34 (9)
2008–2009    Denizlispor           035 (8.)
2009/2010    Denizlispor            08 (2.) current (one game came on as sub)

i guess he got called during his best years at dynamo and started almost all his matches with his clubs, got some goals but in the lower leagues of european football, three goals in 18 matches international caps wasnt enough to cement a place it seems

hope he and his club does better this season, but just based on stats i dont think the TTFF could be lynched for not picking him over others in the player pool

probably if he was meh partner or family i would see it differently, but nothing to go crazy over. thanks daryl (and stern)for the 3 goals though especially the one in bermuda, it postponed my pain to 12 months after when we were eventually booted out of the hex
