i dont agree with you palos.....a full jabloteh side with a new striker or two would probably beat that japan side if they could only muster 2 goals against us. remember that we are playiing away from home and those players have never ever played together.

its sad to hear what happened to keyeno thomas because he is a good defender for jabloteh.

the best central defenders in the pro league are ian gray, keyeno thomas and dexter franklin - they are even better than attiba charles.

Football / Johnson assists wrexham 3 - 3 man city.
« on: July 19, 2006, 03:33:26 PM »
Wrexham 3 v Manchester City 3.
wrexhamafc.premiumtv.co.uk.

A strong Manchester City squad took the lead three times at the Racecourse, but still couldn't beat an impressive Wrexham. Manchester City handed debuts to former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Joe Hart and Ousmane Dabo who joined from Lazio.
However, Dietmar Hamman had to wait for his chance to impress as he started on the bench alongside Paul Dickov, who returned to the club after a four-year absence.
After experimenting with one up front against Liverpool, Neil Roberts was partnered with trial-list Blair Sturrock in a new look 4-4-2 formation.
It took only 7 minutes for Stuart Pearce's side to take the lead. Joey Barton was left free on the right hand side and with a pin-point cross found Ishmael Miller. After controlling the ball with his chest, the youngster fired a vicious strike past the despairing dive of Michael Ingham.
Wrexham's first attack involved three new signings. Ryan Valentine drove the ball towards the head of Blair Sturrock, however his cross was snatched from the waiting Neil Roberts by City's new midfielder Ousmane Dabo, to deny a certain goal.
Stuart Pearce's men should have doubled their lead shortly after the half hour mark. City right back, Willo Flood, burst through the centre of Wrexham's midfield and played the perfect ball for Vassell to slot home, but his shot was tipped wide by the Northern Ireland keeper.
However, five minutes later the home side's first effort on target turned into an equaliser. Good work from Ryan Valentine and Josh Johnson on the right hand side ended with the Trinidad & Tobago winger crossing for the incoming Chris Llewellyn to fire a thunderous effort into Joe Hart's top left corner.
City changed all ten outfield players at half-time, meaning Wrexham would be competing against a team of fresh legs. Didi Hamman and Paul Dickov were two of the eleven introduced.
Wrexham also made changes, Gareth Evans replaced Shaun Pejic, Michael Jones came on for Ingham and Matty Done was given another chance on the left wing replacing goal scorer Chris Llewellyn.
The blues piled on the pressure at the beginning of the second half and were rewarded after 53 minutes through Georgios Samaras. His shot took a wicked deflection of the boot of substitute Gareth Evans before looping over the hapless Michael Jones in goal.
City piled on the pressure after that, looking for a killer third goal, but it was Denis Smith's side who struck next.
Josh Johnson received the ball on the right and using his effective pace and skill he glided past the Manchester City full-back with ease. His cross was headed on by Sturrock to leave Matty Done alone on the back post to smash past debutant Joe Hart.
The ball went from end to end after that as both teams tried to take the lead. However, for the third time in the match it was City who took the advantage.
The dangerous Georgios Samaras took control on the left hand side, with nobody closing the Greek striker down, he shifted the ball onto his stronger right foot to curl the ball past Michael Jones from 20 yards out. The young goalkeeper was left wondering where his defence was.
Wrexham refused to let the game and for a third time found an equaliser this time through a Sylvan Distin own goal. The very impressive Ryan Valentine curled a dangers cross into the Manchester City area, with Hart remaining on his line Distin had to clear, but unfortunately for the Frenchman he ended up putting through his own net. Some silky skills from Matty Done and Jamie Reed was all that was left of the game after that, but Wrexham proved they can mix with the big boys.

Manager Denis Smith was pleased with the outcome:

"I was pleased with the workout and the result, They pressurised us but there was some good performances.
It was a good workout. First half I was quite disappointed with us, unlike Saturday, and had a few words at half-time but second-half they really turned it on and turned up the heat. "To come out with 3-3 is a good result. There was some good performances.
"It's been good because I've had a chance to have a look at two or three trialists and I'm getting more of a feel for the players that I've got, what they can do and what they can't do. Certain players are sticking their head above the paraphet which I didn't expect , Gaz Evans and people like that are doing well an you think oh great."
"There are little things happening which you don't expect.
"Josh is a handful, he covered a lot tonight and got good crosses in and we scored from them. Matty Done was playing against an England international full-back and was giving him a hard time which is great. I'm delighted with that especially as he took a couple of knocks but still got up.
"Balls should have gone into certain areas but didn't but we will iron that out over the next few weeks. I think that people who have come along and played their money have had a good entertaining night. "I've been given a budget and I know what I've to work with. Josh looks as though he will be going to Northern Ireland with us, with is good and we will take it from there."

« on: July 18, 2006, 05:35:27 PM »
is it a player problem or a coaches problem?

is it that the players are plain foreign minded and would respond to fenwick better than say mike grayson and respond to beenie better than say gally or st.clair?

or is is that these forgeign coaches just know more than our coaches about how to coach our own talent?

Football / Re: Arsenal looks to strenghten with Saviola
« on: July 13, 2006, 10:07:22 AM »
arsenal business plan is predicated on champions league football

new stadium, new players ( like henry has asked for) and is fire

i think ribery would be a great addition  (plays a bit like freddie if you ask me)

last 3 years wenger has accumulated a lot of young defenders plus he still has cole lauren toure senderos etc so no problems at the back

arsenal will destroy many teams this rounds

if that story is true... it is a real pity because I feel that yorke has acted very professionally...manning could have done much better....

its amazing some of the players that are talking though...men like ince ( who had to beg and beg beenie to forgive him and make it back in the team) and men like wofle ....is it me or is this a question of overblown expectations....

Football / Re: ADOPT A Team - Pro League
« on: June 23, 2006, 03:51:47 PM »
hands down this is one of the most brilliant ideas i have ever seen placed on this board.

i think jabloteh already has a fan club they are tryin to build so it would be good for people home to get connected to that or work through their youth managers or so. jabloteh would be the best to o have this initiative with because they have already made it clear that pushing local talent is their focus.

this would be great for the other clubs too especially the ones like fire and tobago and north east.

let us not let this initiative slip away.

20
palos is very right. at the moment the some of the best players in the colleges leagues are the ones attached to pro league clubs. it would be better to strengthen the pro league youth system and let them get the best college league players with the clubs.

look at how quickly peltier graduated from jabloteh youth team now to pro league and is scoring winning goals.

i read somewhere where it said that when mucurapo met san juan senior comp in semi-finals last year, that jabloteh, about 16 players on the field from both sides were from jabloteh youth teams and most of the remainder were from superstar rangers youth teams.

imagine dat. ;D

wasnt crouch called for like four or five fouls for jumping on people back in the england game against paraguay....?

and didnt the shitsnake crouch said after the game that he was going to change the way he challenged for balls in the air..?

now this is what the shitsnake did and people defending this cheat on tv?

crouch is a cheat....no two ways about it and he will come out himself and say it sometime that he foulde sancho and he sorry and by then of course it will be too late.

hhhmmm....u are probably right but i really think that after the mexico game, it is clear that whitley can help to drive the offense too. so we dont lose anything by having them both on the field at the same time.

i like how theobald started but he faded quickly and gave away too many balls.

lampard and gerrard will take theobald out of the game and every team is already prepared to deny birchall his 'bullet' goal - you could see that the swedes planned well for him to close him down once he entered the attacking third. but they can't plan so easily for whitley because he is unpredictable - more of an enigma, he can keep the ball or take them on as well as fall back to deep midfield and just cover make interceptions and force turnovers while yorke goes up and does the damage. so he can help us keep offensive and defensive shape.

i agree shotta, - what whitley did for stern against mexico by creating two opportunities for him to score is enough proof that he can be crucial if beenkakker sticks with a 4-5-1.

Football / whitley should start
« on: June 12, 2006, 08:31:20 AM »
no doubt he should start against england. it looked like he was still struggling a bit from the last injury but still when he came on you could see he was a cut above theobald and birchall both in defending and in attack and he lost no speed. he was just a bit more tentative tackling. then he has a few more days to recover and then take on england.

he appeared very confident and his passes to cornell were very very accurate. which was best for us because we were outnumbered. i'm  not surprised by that because he played for years with glen at jabloteh and they know each other well.

one time during the match he put a slick beat on a man on the sideline ( push the ball past and skipped around him) then put a nice left footed cross he didnt look injured to me then. to me he looked good enough going forward to be able to create opportunities for the strikers and we all know what he could do in defensive mid if yorke wants to go forward.

what u all think? should be start or not?

Football / brilliant beenhakker
« on: June 12, 2006, 07:23:54 AM »
beenhakker is a brilliant tactician no doubt about that.

he out-coached swedish coach lagerback and he will outcoach english coach sven erikson and the paraguay coach anibal ruiz.  ;) and he doing it with a smile ;D

beenhakker has taken cinderella to the ball and cinderella goin to wine on dem every night. ;D

they have big names on their team sheets. but we have what they call lightweights with hearts as big as a watermelon. they think we like to party too much but when the whistle goes for 90+ minutes, it is more 'warrior' than 'soca' in deh pweffen....more warrior than soca.

« on: June 07, 2006, 02:27:43 PM »

i would be very happy if marvin 'dog' andrews was to make history for t&t but yorke looks the most likely to do so from a header,...note my words if he (yorke) scores it will be from a header

the way i see it it is even tough for us to expect to score at all....look at it this way,.....france as defending champ (wid de likes of henry and trezeguet) did not score a single goal at the last world cup,.....so we going afta france record ;D
