hmm, well I haven't posted here for awhile (been 2 busy 2 do anything online anymore), but my thoughts are this, find a way to do a mixture of the two. Perhaps, when the foreign based are here, they can be placed 2 train specifically with certain locals who have promising similar talents 2 the foreign based nationals. That way they can benefit directly from learning from the foreign based. Mean while, in the short term, try 2 get as many foreign nationals home for as many games as possible, but do not lay the chances of winning squarely on their shoulders either, because, if they can not make it, the team will have to find some other winning strategy. Maybe a possibility to look at, is if they can hand select a few local based players 2 work directly with the foreign based nationals, and on occasion (when the foreign based are not able 2 visit T&T) send those local based players up 2 train with the respective foreign based player's club for maybe a week or so. That's just an idea for how to develop the local based players better, but, all in all, for the specific tournament, I suggest they simply do not base all their hopes on the foreign based, but, find a complete team of the best local based, and also ask the foreign based to come down for the tournament & in that way, have just about 2 teams (numerically) preparing for it. Play them against each other (if possible) in warm up matches & then look @ who you can take from the local's & the foreign based (it goes without saying that any foreign based who comes home for the matches will probably play, but the remaining spots will be for the best local based players).

I respect the procedure, so I will not disparage her, but in my mind the question remains....how did a synthetic substance get into her system to produce the A positive?

Apparently I am not the only one who thinks this isn't some sort of "she was never guilty" card:

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/trackandfield/columns/story?columnist=wojnarowski_adrian&id=2577044

Good point ... was just thinkin bout this. Theoretically it cud b, either she waited until d stuff was out a she system b4 takin d second test, or dey use sum other ting 2 mask d substance 4 d 2nd test. Sumtimes tho, accidents can happen in d lab, which can result in screwed up results.

To Cocoa's point bout d law & how it doh mean Marion's innocent, I agree, it just means there wasn't enough evidence (or shud I say d evidence real contradictory) 2 prove she guilty.

Football / Re: Warriors coach not sold on Pro league
« on: September 07, 2006, 09:21:22 PM »
Well, what can I say? I can see it from both perspectives. I certainly did not expect the national team (of locally based players) would do well in an international match scheduled so closely to when their new coach took over, especially since they don't have the international experience.

Personally, when I heard about these matches being scheduled and realised that they'd been scheduled before even we could find a new coach to take over, I wondered if who ever the coach would be, would be happy about the matches being already scheduled. If I was Warner I'd ah atleast waited until I had a new coach confirmed 4 d job, b4 finalizing any friendly internationals, etc.

it's true dat Wim probably here 4 he own interests. It's also true dat d locally based players definitely need more international exposure. I suspect, probably if d friendly internationals had been scheduled 4 later in d year or early nex year, giving Wim a chance 2 train wit he new locally based players, & see wat miracles he cud pull within a few months.

Me eh sayin dem coaches & dem who bad talkin Wim now, shud shut up & let him do he ting, but is still a little early 2 see wat plans he have 4 d team, so maybe we shud jus wait & see. In a way I tink iz betta 2 wait & see wat magic he have up he sleeve b4 criticizin him.

I have 2 agree with wat rippin say dey. I was gonna say sumtin similar.

For me personally, on d one hand, it would be nice 2 be able to maintain d respect we got @ d WC by producin a team (4 dis match) dat could play just as strongly. On d other hand, we do need 2 give d other players a chance & d exposure necessary 4 dem 2 cement dey position in d team 4 d d WC in d nex 4 years. For us, dis match isn't a part of a tournament, nor is it a warm up match 2 prepare 4 a tournament; wen we had our warm up matches against Wales 4 d WC, 4 dem d match was just a friendly international dat dey did not need 2 send out dey best 4 & dey didn't really lose any respect or watever on d international scene because of dat. Is d same here, d rest a d world wudn't really be watchin these matches & I doh even know if we can earn points to improve our standings on matches like these, so I don't think winning is quite as important to the coaches & administrators in this match as it would have been if this match was a part of a tournament.

Perhaps d real messed up part of it was dat d deals 4 these matches was agreed to before we even knew if we would have a coach for the team, so it cum like dey organise d matches & den look 2 find d coaches & team (and 4 dat we will perhaps suffer in dis match).

I think it's cool tho that Yorke & some of the others from d WC squad are actually going to make it. I'm not really surprised about it as Yorke is still Captain & some of the others from the WC squad were home based

hmm, interesting ... someone made a point of hoping that in 2010 our National Senior mens team who would be qualifying for the WC (yes, I'm bein optimistic here) would be made up mostly of locally based players. First of all, I'm trying to think of any team that qualified for this years WC that was made up of mostly locally based players (particularly the ones who did make it out of the group stages). With the possible exception of countries like England and France, where pro league football is just about equivalent (as far as quality) to International standard football, I can't think of any.

I think we do have alot of talent and our own style of playing is good, but, if we are to have a team (in 2010) that is mostly locally based we do have to sharpen it & hone it so that our pro league is up to their standards.

Also, we have to consider that their pro leagues accept people from other countries National Senior Mens teams ... I have yet to hear of our pro league doing that. If our future Senior Mens team is to be mostly locally based in 2010, our club pro league is going to have to look attractive to players from other countries around the world, because the only way we are going to be able to hold our heads high in this way is if our locally based players are accustomed to playing both alongside and against not only other national teams but other internationally reknowned players and their respective clubs.

There is alot of work cut out for our people in charge there, if we are to achieve that. For all of those reasons, I personally think that it will come with time, but I'm not so sure that it will be in time for the next WC. Also I think that until such time as our pro league club level has reached that level, we really should be taking advantage of our internationally based players, in cases like this, as they can bring us the level of experience necessary at the time.

*These are just my thoughts on the subject*

I am not one for censorship but people should also use common sense. If your avatar is so far beyond the norm that it is unique you are probably using it on the wrong site.

Yea I agree there, but I think if is not Football / T&T related (or fits into the category of general avatars) it should be a pic of yourself or no pic at all ... a man having a pic of womens bodies should not be acceptable at all

lol, hmm, he does sound alot like sour grapes in truth. he might have a few good points about Latas there, but, as some people said before, it is easy to say those things in hindsight and especially so when you weren't the coach incharge. It probably would have been nice for the 72 & 89 teams to have visited with the current team, but I wonder if anyone even bothered to make the necessary arrangements for that to happen, also we have to consider if Beenhakker would have allowed it, given that he wouldn't know those players and probably wouldn't have wanted his men around people with negative vibes (assuming that the members of those teams were a little jelous of not having the opportunity to play in the world cup themselves).

There's really alot of things to consider there before making statements like what Gally made about the coach etc.

I think the mere fact that we've proven we can hold against England and  the Swedes should up our rankings a little. Perhaps also the fact that our National Senior mens team doesn't see much action outside of the WC qualifiers could also be what contributes to our low points in the World Rankings, so if we look to change that situation ...

Football / Re: The Forgotten Warrior: where's Maximus' Chaconia Gold?
« on: July 02, 2006, 05:22:33 PM »
yeah but dey did not even carry maximus to germany

Maximus was sitting a few rows behind me at d Paraguay game. He also performed in Dortmund. I dunno who paid for him to be there, but he was there. If he was already sponsored by Angostora/whoever den d govt cant pay for him as well.

When de gov't (1 - 2 weeks before the tournament start) finally name de list ah people to go ....ah THINK Maximus was one ah dem but ah eh too sure, somebody goh correct mih....but he was dey cuz ah have mih pic wid him to prove it!!!.....

Along with Destra his main gig was with Angostura in Dortmund and Munich. Could be that the gov't then also gave him a side gig with their contingent since he was already there anyway.

D Government did take him 2 Germany ... it wasn't publicly finalized in d newspapers until about a week or two before d tournament, BUT, if u did look on his website & that of other artistes who were rumored 2 b amongst d T&T contingent, dey already had d dates 4 d various performances in Germany listed on dey sites & stuff ... Now I dunno Maximus myself, but I do know other people in d music industry who work closely wit Maximus & dey told me (b4 d tournament) dat Maximus (& sum a d other artistes) was goin Germany & dat d government was involved in organising 4 Maximus 2 go to Germany 2 perform.

All I know is I see some men with some big big name and big big salary play some big big PILES of ta ta this world cup.  Many of them are home, CUP less, too.

Is it just me, or Crouch could ah never play for Trinidad. Men (coaches too if they was local) would ah watch he and say nah nobody that obzockey and stupid looking cyar put on we jersey...what all yuh say? Crouch could start for we? lol

Rooney is just the lastest in a long line of big big English names who do well in club football and fail big big on the real stage.  He will not be as good as many predicting....no finesse.

Daz tru ... I find if u hadda tackle, den tackle (& we all know daz inevitable), buh if u cyar get near enough 2 d ball, doh b stupid enough 2 do tings like grab & hold d other team members who closer 2 d ball & prevent dem from takin it - dat jus makin it more obvious dat dey's betta players dan u.

Well, I have been hired to help where I can with speed, fitness and motivation, so if it on my watch I can say I will do my part.  Football doing well in 2010 ent up to PNM, (or any government) thank God.  It is up to people who know what it takes to succeed at a world class level.

Yes I was wonderin wat d government go really be able 2 do bout dat except maybe jus continue doin wat dey was doin all along & jus encourage people 2 support d team if anyting else.

Minister Boynes: Warriors' technical staff not forgotten
T&T Express

Tuesday, June 27th 2006

The technical staff that accompanied the "Soca Warriors" to Germany
for the 2006 World Cup Finals have not been forgotten, but the
Government are still in talks over just how to honour them.

This was revealed by Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Roger Boynes
yesterday, at a ceremony at President's House for national midfielder
Silvio Spann, who was mistakenly left out of the original
celebrations held for the players on Saturday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Boynes said that talks have already taken place towards rewarding the
T&T technical staff, and that they are currently ongoing.

"I believe that is a work in progress that is taking place at this
time," Boynes said following the ceremony at which Spann was awarded
a Chaconia Medal (Gold) for his contribution to the Soca Warriors,
"and that work and those discussions even took place before".

During the gala celebrations on Saturday, no reward was announced for
the technical staff, although the 23 players, coach Leo Beenhakker
and three assistant coaches, as well as 16 players who contributed
earlier in the CONCACAF qualifying campaign, were awarded monetary
bonuses for their role in the "Soca Warriors" debut World Cup in Germany.

lol, dey cuda jus say dat @ d original ceremony! But I agree with JahYouth to a certain extent. I don't think it's normal for the technical staff of any sports team / player to be recognised by an external body. It's usually the players (& those in the public eye) who accept the rewards & then decide how to reward everyone who was responsible for helping them to get there. It come kinda like they're the bosses & accept on behalf a d whole company & all dat. In any & all competition daz wat I know does happen, whether iz football or whether iz in a carnival competition, iz always d one who in d public eye who accept d reward on behalf a everyone who work 2 get dem dey & den dat person decide how best 2 reward d others.

Now I not sayin daz necessarily right, but daz d normal ting 2 happen

What is Units ? is this good as cash ?

Will the team be allowed to use the Ato Boldon stadium free now and why that stadium which hold 10,000 compare to the Hasley Crawford at 25,000, makes no sense. De Ato Boldon stadium real nice and it off de highway for easy access, but it smaller than de HC Stadium. It good for training though as players based in south will have easy access and not like before when only North men coulda walk to practice and south, east and west sucking egg travelling miles for practice, now is even turf.

Lets hope Manning serious about 2010, time will tell.. I also hope he revamp the TTFF, we need to organise better, because if I know some people in the TTFF they will wait 2 weeks before we next world cup qualifiers to start training, they will also wait long to come with with plans to make money, when they could do that now so in 2 years they will have a good bit.

What about giving the team their own football buss to get to training and thing. A buss like they had in Germany.

Did Lincoln Phillips and Bertille St Clair get anything. What about men who was part of 2006 like Errol McFarlane (2- 2006 world cup goals), Andre Boucaud, Hector Sam, Rougier, Eve (1- 2006 world cup goal), Fitzpatrick, Rojas, Sealy... etc etc, did they get anything. I think Jack Warner did pay them off allready, but I eh to sure.. ?

Well, in answer 2 ur 1st question, units is like stock on d stock exchange. Basically iz shares in d Unit Trust Corporation / dat d Unit Trust Corporation handles 4 it's members.

2ndly, I imagine that the stadium was designated for that type of training. Like for example, the Hasely Crawford stadium is currently being redone for sprinters & they wouldn't be able to have that sort of training held there. Right now, because they were doing over the track at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, when we were there for the ceremony, both the track & the football field were in a mess & I personally don't know whether or not they plan to keep the football field there or just maybe keep a field there for other sports but not football, but I know that the main training center was going to be at the Ato Boldon stadium.

Football / Re: How could they forget Spann
« on: June 25, 2006, 09:24:10 PM »
nobody's angel

I hear the point you making...but I can't agree with you on everything. For one...you getting vex with the wrong people. Let's say Spann did not get a medal. The PLAYERS and coaching staff should be the ones to stand up and say they not accepting any medal unless Spann is included and give reasons...some may disagree, but if they want to stand up for what is right, then they should be the ones to make sure it happens. Doh expect politicians to have a clue, even if they try their best.

Second..it is no disgrace that Spann was sent home when injured. Just about every injured player you will ever read of gets sent home. Brazil flew Edmilson home, France flew Cisse home...etc. It is usually to help with their recovery and to help the rest of the team push forward mentally without a constant reminder of a fallen friend. It can also be psychologically tough for the player who is replacing the injured player to be in constant contact with each other, as well as their could be bitterness between the injured player and the player who casued the injury, or the coaching/medical staff who made the decision to cut the player. It is in evryone's best interest to set the policy that injured players are removed from camp. If the TTFF decides they want to sponsor an injured player...that is one thing..but this is not the duty of the coaching staff. There duty is to send the player home and continue their job with no distractions.

Otherwise..I with you...I really hope Spann got the recognition he deserved

Filho, you right on target!  FIFA rules indicate that injured players noy on the team have to leave the camp.  Every team with injuries send home their injured players.  So, what make us so different or unfeelimng.  My question thoug is this: I did not hear whether Bertille St. Claire get any recognition which he deserves as much as all the guys who played but were dropped along the way. And don't forget, if it was not for BSC, we would never have Dwight Yorke joining the squad.

Well I was there & I do seem to remember Bertille St. Claire's name mentioned atleast once during the thank you speech. I can't remember whether or not he was included in the prize giving, but, when they forgot Spann, I remember seeing the rest of the team who were on the stage & who had accepted their medals, converge on the acting president & prime minister (well the acting President & the Prime Minister kinda had to intervene) when they realised Silvio had been forgotten in the stands. Then as soon as they'd talked to the President & Prime Minister they interrupted the rest of the ceremony to call up Silvio to give him his medal. That's what the team did about it.

hmm, well I dunno bout that, but to some extent I'm not surprised. The government would not have known all who were on the staff. Anyways, a thought that just occurred to me is that perhaps it would be more fitting for the team themselves to reward the rest of the staff, or atleast put in a good word for them to the government, but it's the team & the coaching staff that were mostly in the public eye & that would have been why the government would have thought of them first - even in the ceremony tho, they forgot to give Silvio Spann his Chaconia Gold medal & it was only when the rest of the team were on the stage & realised that the ceremony was going on with Silvio still in the stands that they converged on the PM & acting president & informed them that they'd forgotten to give Silvio his medal (LOL - for me that was the biggest joke of that ceremony - the government forgetting to reward someone who actually was on the team- the newspapers conveniently left that part out tho, lol).

"For an inexperienced team, that can be a problem, especially for the guys who are playing back in Trinidad. Maybe if they had a bit more experience of the pace in European football we might have done better."

Carlos blaming the non European-based players?

Is what he is saying wrong?  Please answer honestly.

Is not ah matter of if 'what he is saying, wrong',it may be true, but he is wrong for saying it...their are many reasons why we did not perform better and de major reason is de superior opposition. How many local based players started and played ? is he singling one or two players ? I just think it is wrong for him to make ah statement like that becuz basically it puts down the local leagues as ah waste of time.

You might be right, but last I heard about half the playing team that started the matches were locally based & I have a feeling that the report might not have been 100% accurate in their reporting in that he may have mentioned that as one of the factors that contributed to the teams results. Anyways, lookin at it logically, all of those who are internationally based, are based in Europe, so I know, if I were him, on some kinda subconscious level, I would have probably concluded that Trini players may be more likely to be picked by international clubs by the Europeans than any other part of the world. Although now that we've played in the world cup & the other countries have seen what we have to offer, it's entirely possible that other clubs from other countries like those in South America might be lookin a little more closely at our team than before.

Anyways, being on the National Team, he would have more knowledge of which countries have in the past and are currently lookin @ the players from Trinidad, than the rest of us would know.
