Football / Re: Tobago's contribution to our football

 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Just as i read the article on the national u 17. i was about to comment and saw this post.  So there are no Bagonians on that team. Hmm SMH. That always happens when there is a local coach at the helm at youth level. Only execption is Anton Corneal. The majority of Trinidadian coaches are simply incompetent and biases

2
Shane Sandy MUST be on that team. There isnt a better, mature or more composed youth midfielder in this country.

Good luck lads.i know we will do well. i think the desire is there. we have the talent. its not the players fault when we dont do well. its just the system we grow up in compared to other footballers internationally.

Good game daneil. Played very well. And he is a more than decent dm eh. Not yet quite mature for CB as yet. Just my opinion. That position needs more calmness. Maybe in time to come. But RB or DM. Will put in a good shift all the time

We need a better keeper ASAP. His footwork is poorrrrr. Even the comentators said so. Time for a new keeper.

i dont know why he was not subbed for Gay. and keep on keon. He wouldda make more decisive passes from deeper. also at that time we did not need 2 defensive mids. Also i think thats his las game. ( i hope)

4-5-1 is a system that can be modified and often is. In modern footy its definitely not a defensive system. its very much attacking. Maybe sometimes the system would use 2 defensive mids but often times when a little more empetus is needed forward one is taken out. As long as there is a true #9 flanked by 2 direct running left & right forwards it the most used, flexible and popular system used worldwide.

I concur

No need to even worry about what they think at this point in time. They always seem to think they have the answer but in reality they have failed us. its better they spend the time studying more. get training in modern football and physical education so that they can better prepare teams when their opportunity arises.

We team soft with him on the field bottomline. And please dont theobald and mikel in the same sentense. Mikel at least tackles for heavens sake. Theobald does absolutely nothing. Also flex talk about everybody except Keon Daniel. Trinis dont seem to appreciate the big talent of the Bago boy. But he is the best creative talent in that team, me en care woh allyuh think. but dem inept coaches always put players of lesser ability in his position and we never win. And dah man that saying my 4-2-3-1 has no balance he still in the dark ages football for him to put three straight lines of a 4-5-1 with theobald in dey and call that balance. We in trini real into the stone age football thing oui.

Yes he has been left out. Also Theobald who in my opinion offers nothing to the team. And i mean nothing at all that another talented and more creative baller in the country cannot give. He is weak defensively, offers nothing in attack and just spends time running aimlessly around the field marking only 5 yard passes. A
4-2-3-1 formation is the best for our stability and for counterattacking.

Football / Re: Cuban Coaches and the CFU
« on: December 25, 2012, 10:28:34 AM »
Cuba has the very best sports program in the caribbean. For a country under embargos and such from the usa< they remain at the very top. I can say that first hand having received my sports degree along with others trinbagonians in that country. If we can educate our coaches to the level of having their sport coaching degrees it will do well for us as a nation. But sadly we will depend on our very underqualified former players that cant even let us win the lowest of tournaments and then say ok we satisfied. n.b our foreign coaches are all well qualified eh. And i spoke with the cuban coaches and they cannot even sniff national teams unless they have been properly and expertly trained eh. Lets continue to settle for mediocrity.

Football / Re: U-23's in must win situation after loss to St Kitts.
« on: November 27, 2011, 09:31:59 PM »
This is the solution. Until this happens our football goes nowhere. And I mean NOWHERE.

We speak often of developmental programs, but do we know precisely what that is? i am not saying I know but maybe someone can help me. But in my travels I would observe that Young footballers whether they may be very good or aspiring from as early as 8 or 9 years old would be in constant training and education of football. Not the seasonal training or Saturday morning coaching schools or the occasional every evening. I mean institutionalized training schools. Where the most qualified Physical Education instructors, coaches specialized with the rudiments of teaching, nutritionists etc. are employed. These student athletes are specially selected and are given a special academic curriculum with their daily training routines. Psychological sessions, the full works for their development. Have about 5 of these schools around the country including one in Tobago. They can play in zonal tournaments as well as their own institutional tourney. We just have to stop depending in the secondary school league to select our youth teams as they will never be prepared sufficiently. The youth players of even El Salvador are school boys yes, but, they never play in their regular secondary school leagues. thats for the regular chickens. Notice i didn't mention mexico. Youth players there just as in England and every other serious football country of the world are professionals from a very early age. this pro does not mean only earning big money but receiving specialized training and academic scholarships to ensure they can read write and speak well. We set up these institutions have they QUALIFIED instructors, hire the normal academic teachers, have them training, competing, and preparing on a year round basis and select our youth teams from this program and maybe, just maybe it can work. Even Cuba has this in their system.

This U -23 team sad to say is not very good either. Maybe will do well this rounds but further on a miracle is needed. Very slow football. Poor touches also at pace, and that is modern footy. PACE.

I have been saying that our sportsmen at the secondary school level should be separated from the normal academic routine for a while now. Its the only way to reach to the level of mexico in  a short space of time.
