Football / Re: Live Streaming of Super Friday Double Header anyone?
« on: May 08, 2009, 06:27:22 PM »
Baptiste double gives King a bright start.
By Randy Bando (ttproleague).

A first half double by Joe Public  attacker Kerry Baptiste paved the way for a winning start for Coach Derek King on Super Friday at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya edging Caledonia AIA of Morvant Laventille 2-1.

The victory not only meant full points for Public, but a good start for the youngest coach in the League, Derek King at age 28, after the comeback victory in the first match of a double header.

Walter moore had Caledonia in front in the 2nd minute when he easily slipped the ball past goalkeeper Alejandro Figueroa after defender Seon Power failed to intercept a pass inside the area for a 1-0 early advantage of the Round One Match Day One of the Digicel Pro League.

However the score was levelled in the 7th minute 1-1 when Kerry baptiste clinically slotted the ball past a fully stretched goalkeeper Kevin Mussio after turning inside his markers in the area.

The tempo continued to climb as Joe Public and Caledonia gave fans a great opening contest in efforts for the best possible start of the 2009 season.

Kareem Moses headed into the side netting in the 29th minute from Kerry Baptiste’s left side free kick after Densill Theobald fouled Tinto just outside the area. Tinto, a former Caledonia player had an impressive first half entertaining the Marvin Lee crowd.

Baptiste had the crowd screaming off their seats in the 32nd when he registered his double minute sending the home crowd wild as the Eastern Lions enjoyed a 2-1 advantage.

Kerry was at it again in the 38th minute hitting just high from a 22 yard free kick as Joe Public looked in control putting some pressure on Caledonia who had three yellow cards in the half.

Caledonia had the last attempt of the half from defender Nuru Abdallah Muhammed which was well wide of Figueroa’s goal.

Following the break, King boosted his attack with former Caledonia player Conrod Smith replacing Devon Leacock in midfield unsatisfied with his one goal advantage.

Joe Public showed their intent for more goals with defender Seon Power guided Baptiste’s ffreekick just wide of Mussio’s upright two minutes into the second period.

King’s charges had another good chance in the 56th minute but midfielder Akeil Guevarra’s shot was tipped out by goalkeeper Mussio. And less than two minutes later Guevarra was again denied, this time by defender Muhammed who cleared off the line.

Guevarra had a go at goal again in the 62nd only winning a corner after his attempt from distance clashed off Muhammed.

Caledonia’s coach Jamaal Shabazz responded with changes in his offence replacing Abdullah Phillips and Kendall Velox with some younger faces in Akim Armstrong and Keyon Edwards respectively in the 64th minute.

But their chances of a comeback darkened when Akeil Guevarra finally got his item in the 72nd minute beating goalkeeper Mussio from the left and into the far upright for a 3-1 lead.

Two minutes later Shabazz responded with his final substitution in 2009 signee Judah Hernandez replacing Jameel Perry upfront to add some pressure on the Lions and brought their chances of a comeback closer. Second half introduction Keyon Edwards made no mistake in the 84th minute guiding the ball into Figueroa’s net reducing the deficit 2-3.

That added life into the match in its dying stages with Akim Arstrong making two clearances off the face of his goal against Joe Public, the eventually winners at the final whistle 3-2.

Caledonia AIA  2—3 Joe Public
Walter Moore 2’, Keyon Edwards 84’ ; Kerry Baptiste 7’, 32’, Akeil Guevarra 72’

Caledonia AIA: Kevin Mussio, Charles Pollard (capt.), Brion Baker, Stephan David, Abdallah Phillips (Akim Armstrong 64th), Jameel Perry (Judah Hernandez 74th), Walter Moore, Marcus Ambrose, Densill Theobald, Nuru Abdallah Muhammed, Kendal Velox (Keyon Edwards 64th).

This year I cannot make it home until August; then I am going back in November or December, not sure which month yet. Alas, I cannot pull out the men I grew up with to go see a Pro League game. They have their reasons for ignoring local football, but I have to check out at least one Pro League game every time I go home. Then I could lime and party nonstop. Dais just me.

I am all in favor of this game being played in Tobago. I know in my heart playing a WCQ game in Tobago is long overdue, and Jack is doing the right thing.

Some people claim to be indifferent about playing  this game in Tobago. But the onus is on Tobago & its poeple to improve  - even before the game is played - our chances of winning the game. I tell you.

I was born & raised in Trinidad. When I walk up Rosalino Street, I am in front of the Oval; and I am about eight minutes away from HCS.

You know what's hard to digest? Man & woman on this forum - probably the heart & soul of we football - saying and believing  that a WCQ game played in Tobago is an "away" game. Allyuh take win yes!!

I go leave this forum with this: Jack jeopardized this 2010 campaign when he black listed the 2006 world cup players. Then he made damn sure we wouldn't qualify for SA when he fired Wim & replaced him with Maturana, instead of hiring another competent dutch coach. But that is just my opinion & I am not trying to impose my views on anyone.

Tobago:
Come out & support YOUR team on the June 6th. Treat the poeple that are adamant about taking this game away from you  - because of all the wonderful reasons they have cited - with courtersy & respect. Be aware, you will get plenty condesending smiles from your compatriots.

Well done Jack! Well done!

This must be done in Tobago and down South during every world cup campaign. Give all my brothers and sisters a taste; and build the local base. Next ting you know, some ah these people will be going out to watch local football again.

Now all you have to do is go back Dutch!! ;D Hire somebody like Mario Been, and we good to go brother.

Bakes & WestCoast:

I am back; I sincerly hope you work things out in the near future. Please think about reconciling.

The two of you and many others on this board have gotten me through many tough days since 2005. After I have done everything I have to do on my job and in my personal life almost every day, I turn to this board. I read, agree and disagree with many members on this board. I also learn alot.

You guys offer alot. Continue to share your expriences and your knowledge with us; and refrain from disrespecting each other. If allyuh want to engage, that's fine. Engage and highlight the flaws in each others arguments. Both ah allyuh could do that well.

Sincerly,

Victor

Pavlov,

Last night I put my foot in my mouth, and you tried to help me out. I have been reading this message board long enough to know that's the kind of fella you are. That's why I mentioned your name when I requested help to find the post, BIG MISTAKE.

Frankly, I don't like what's happening bet'w you, Bakes and TT. I don't know what happened bet'w you guys. I also don't know if you are personal friends and something brought this on. It's obvious, though, Bakes & TT are upset about something.

I implore the three of you, WestCoast, TrueTrini and Bake & Shark, to work out your differences and be courteous to each other. If you don't have the desire to reconcile your differences at least stop attacking each other unnecessarily. I am the one that fu#ked up last night. And, as senior members of this board, any one of you could have called me out.

Each one of you is unique, smart and capable of making your arguments w/o disrespecting each other. ALLYUH STOP NAH, PLEASE!!!

I have to go to the barber now, so I will not be reading the response to this post until I get back home sometime this evening.

Respect brothers!

Tallman, WestCoast or Eman:

I need allyuh help.  A few months ago, Brownsugar made a post I would like to see on this thread.  Alas, I cannot find the post. Could somebody find it for me, if possible and it's not too much trouble?

She exhorted the powers that be to get rid of Maturana -  :beermug: - because she was convinced he wasn't going to take us anywhere and they shouldn't wait until it actually happpens.

That post was succinct, descriptive and right on the money. I would like Brownsugar to reread that post. Her words helped  prepare me for the situation we are in today.

Respect Brownsugar!

well i went through all BrownSugar's posts and found this one?
is this the one you were after?

I didn't plan to come on here tonight....ah thought ah would sleep off de nightmare and come on tomorrow....but ah addicted to dis forum too much....

Anywho, after what I see with mih own 2 eyes today.....unless Maturana and dem know something me ent know....we not going no flecking where!!!...

First thing....we defence shaky no arse with 4 men in it, but yuh start with a 3-5-2 formation??  have we ever tried that system in the friendlies we've had recently??  If no, why PLAY DAT SYSTEM 2DAY??!!......and de players just looking out of sorts between Lawrence and Hislop...

Den de #7 for Bermuda - Ming - we had no answer for he....and he was just one player of the Bermudian team who had real fight and hustle and thing......wha happen nobody scout de Bermudians??!!!....

Den de Bermudians fighting we for EVERY ball....our players.....dem escorting men into we area....and when dey not doing dat, dey giving dem acres of space....We had no creative spark in midfield to move the play forward.....no ideas when we have de ball.....players not supporting each other, for example, at one point Carlos bringing in the ball...he coming up against defenders and he still trying to get in the box to score and NOT ONE PLAYER ARRIVE TO HELP DE MAN.....NOT ONE....

Look.....steups...thank God I went Germany yes.....I have mih memories to keep mih till when friggin ever.....

 :'( :'( >:( >:( :banginghead: :banginghead: :frustrated: :frustrated:  :'( :'( >:(

Thanks for trying, but that isn't the post. I did a bad job of trying to convey to you what she said. Sorry! I should have done my homework properly.

Thanks again for your effort.

Ent he coached Mexico before?
Jack, bring back Wim nah.

Nah, after Wim held that press conference and was so fed up spoke the truth about how not serious and jokey the football authorities are down here, Jack's ego is way too dented to even consider that. When I heard that press conference I was so happy somebody in authority spoke up about the crap that going on, but I knew it was the end for Wim, he probably knew as well, but he just didn't care, because being from Holland hes not accustomed to the kind of sh*t that goes on down here, he was probably losing his mind. Leo had to buss out because he knew being old if he stayed here for another 4 years, he would be leaving in a coffin.
