So who are the coaches that are going to conduct these screening sessions in Tobago? This seems like an after thought that this is being done. Also football is opinion and the coaches doing this screening may turn away players that the coaches of the actual team might have picked had they seen them. This doesn't sound very professional, the way it's being done

It's amazing that in this day and age, man talking about jumpin  on a ferry, in association with representing the country. That is the lack of professionalism that is causing our football to regress, and be at the level it is. That statement shows a lack of insight as to what is required to be successful at an international level, where all players should be treated as equal, to create a united atmosphrere. I see this statement as, " a dioreaoh of words and a constipation of ideas".

Football / Re: Neville: England 'a waste of time'
« on: August 24, 2011, 05:55:17 AM »
The fact, or should I say my opinion, is the youth/academy system in England is flawed in that it is soley geared at winning and not winning and developing players. So you'll find that, the biggest, strongest kids are selected before the smaller technical player, to ensure that he bolds over anything in his way to score the winner, while the small technical player is discarded. When they reach the age of maturity, and everyone is as strong and quick, there is nothing else to the players game and therefore the lack the technical abilty to be consistently effective. This is just one aspect of the flaws, but I think it's a very big one, and until the dinasaurs of the game become extinct, this will continue to produce the technically average players the English team has.

You can't say the linesman was out of position, as he is supposed to be in line with the last defender to check for offside. Lampard took a shot from outside so he was where he was supposed to be, what you can say is the angle he was looking at it from, he probably couldn't be 100% certain if it crossed or not. So the question becomes should he have given it or not. His positioning was right though for what was happening at that time.

So how much kits did SV have?....Steupps shouldnt these things be sorted out my match officials long before the game? Every team should have 2 different kits...Now, if 1 of these teams followed the rules, the game would have been played. Common sense

How much kits SV have should not be the issue at all, there are clearly rules put in place for these type of circumstances, and it's down to the away team to research before they get to the opposition, what colours they play in. That is the professional thing to do, But then, how professional are these set ups. Saying that the match officials should know the rules clearly, and correctly award the teams what's due to them with no exceptions. So there is a problem with officials knowing the rules etc.

I eh know how to cross  out words or put line  through it but I would suffice to say he would be the MOST SUCCESSFUL  FOOTBALLER IN CARIBBEAN HISTORY!!!!

Our guest from that island up dey by Cuba who like to hang out on the SWO site Take that and smoke it.......!!!!!

did you just call me? ;D. you mean from the Caribbean or currently in the Caribbean?, what you base it off? the team he plays for, his performance or the type of trophies?. i thought he http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barnes_%28footballer%29 was from the Caribbean. if we had a football program in the 70s or 80s, he would be on the notional team from he started for watford.  here is a winger, not a striker, who had score close to 200 goals.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0jdsPZmOWM&feature=related

Just a little info for you, that John Barnes' dad was a Trini that went over to Jamaica to do military sevice and settled there. So we had a hand in that as well. Yes he had Jam. mother but without that Trini militant father, Salt.

I know you live in London, we sweat together nuff times. and maybe as you say you fortunate, but I've lived in both the US(6 years) and England, and the treatment pretty much the same. Last time I was stopped here the man had the cheek to ask me "when was the last time you was arrested"? had to ask him if because I'm a black man in Britain means I must have been arrested before. He say he asks everyone that question. I said well this is my name, you check and see if I have, and come and tell me.
The stop and search is necessary, but when you use it as an excuse to stop and rough up "ethnic minorities" then that is not justified. And this has been the case for years.Question is it only Black and Asian youths that carry weapons, or use/sell drugs? If not why are they the only ones "stopped and searched"?

Ryan where you livin boy? I lived in London and now essex, and all the same. Blacks and asians constantly complaining about police harrasment. Matter of fact know couple people who work with/for the met police and they say alot of striped officers are, and these are white people telling me this.So I don't know where you getting your info from or maybe you just fortunate not to have run ins but it's there for all to see

We've discussed this "Tobago team" in the past and have said time and time again that the better players in Bago are not playing for this team for 1 reason or the other. Therefore it is feasable that another team can play, and be competitive in the league. Plus players like Keon Daniel and Makan , also 3 others that were at Mau Pau are all still coaching school players and were just loaned out to Petrotrin etc. And the returning players from schols. etc can also make this a very competitive team.

The university system here in the UK does not have a competitive set up like the US. You'd find that a bunch of friends may get together and form the team from the student union, and therefore one of the players "coaches" the team, and I use that term loosely. You might get a few good players in there, ( ex academy that did not make it) but the standard is pretty poor. That most likely is becaause of the number of pro/semi pro clubs with academies reserves etc. players prefer to aspire to become a pro than pursue education. those with little or no talent (football) make up the "uni team"

Just a side note Darren Toby is playing for Charlotte Eagles in the USL second div. which I think (not 100%) they won and would then be promoted to compete in this league next season.

So leh we say because dey went and STILL play minor league football, yuh ban

Cornell Glen

Aurtis Whitley

Hayden Tinto

Keon Daniel

Yuh cyah ban Hyland because he eh playin fuh nobody

What den? Where does the Pro League put a stop to it?

Do you ban players from playing Minor League Football only? Only if players gettin PAY yuh go ban dem but fete match is ok? Or fete match ban too?

Wha bout a WIPA vs Strike Squad charity match and some a dese players get invite as guest players?  They could get injured dey too no?

Or how about de Christmas Mornin sweat by de community centre?  Men could damage a ankle, tear a ACL dey etc.  Dat gettin ban too?

Jes curious.

Charity matches are played all over the world e.g Zidane11 vs Ronaldo11, Kanu heart foundation match etc, and players are given permision by their clubs to participate, as its seen both as a measure of good will, and also donation from club to that particular charity. These games are normally also very laid back affairs so risk of impact injuries are minimal. Goin an sweat down de park wid some ah dem wile men is a different scene, or minor league football which is not approved by the club that holds your registration is a breach of contract and should be punished  by what is put in place. We can't call the league a pro league and have a less than amateur mentallity about it. I fully agree with what the pro league has implemented. On the case of marketing the league , that's a different matter all together.

This may have brought up trust and ability to follow instructions issues with the coach. You cya say de man jus torte, so if he iis given a specific defensive assignment and jus torte to do something else and lorse de game because of it, what would be the recourse then. Also coach maybe wonder if this player is a leader of follower, as soon as foreign base come he jus hand over the armband like dat, without consulting the boss. If this is true Theobald need to check heself. Maybe different coaches would have dealt with it another way, but the issues would still be the same.

spoke to some of the academy coaches at wycombe, and they said he is a good player but the manager got some other midfielders that came from a higher league (SPL I think), so therefore he was resigned to the bench.
