Football / Re: Lawrence ready for Crouch
« on: May 24, 2006, 07:18:14 PM »
whether crouch is a complete player or not is beside the point. when he is on the pitch, the opposition have to adapt their game to take him into account... look when england played argentina recently - crouch came on for the last 20 - defenders had to move to cover him - next thing owen scores two WITH HIS HEAD!!! england win 3 - 2.

with a big lad like dennis in the centre of our defence - we are one of the few teams that can stand shoulder to shoulder with crouch. take away the advantage of his height and i quite fancy our chances... of course, how dennis would cope with the pace of owen and walcott may be a different matter, so lets hope beenie is smart enough to adapt...

would be nice to see him go full circle and finish up back at the villa... god knows we need a striker to put in the back of de net...

14
i see nike have designed a new boot to protect rooney's foot when he plays - am seeing him running around with a big ol club on his boot...

and to think, adidas can't even fix the flag on the tnt jersey... or make enough of the damn things for people to buy...

adidas did the same in 2001 with the british lions rugby shirts... completely misjudged the numbers of shirts... had it right by the time everyone got to oz to watch the games, so expect to seen plenty of trini jerseys by the time you arrive in germany...

mine arrived in hong kong today... people were not joking on the sizes being on the small side... gonna have to buy a girdle to hold de belly in...

anyone else thinking the embroidered badge looking kinda nasty???

16

agreeing with ricky there... will be using cash machines when i get there... the fee they charge for using them is no more than you will pay from a currency exchange booth... and it means i'm not going to struggling to drink hundreds of euros on the last day because a stein is cheaper than i expected....

they sending you an invite all the way up there in nyc??? mine hasn't arrived over here in hk yet... still waiting...

19
US$6,500 per point for each player - suddenly it don't seem that much...

20
it works out at about US$600k per player for winning the world cup - less than beckham's monthly salary at real madrid....

its a lot of money no doubt, but by that stage, you would be talking about the best team in the world. if they are that, they should be paid accordingly... think what having the us as world champions would do to soccer revenues in the us...

plenty of people would make plenty more money than that payment to the players...

Football / Re: Today's Rumours in Football
« on: May 03, 2006, 08:03:38 PM »
ruud appears to be a shadow of his former self since all his injuries. manyoo need a true finisher to partner rooney - eto'o springs to mind...

am wondering if rooney's absence may not reopen the door for heskey to the world cup? defoe, owen, vassell - all are small strikers. crouch will be much more effective as an impact sub, which means you need a big striker to start matches - only beattie and heskey spring to mind... or am i missing someone?

Football / Re: Is Eto'o for real
« on: May 03, 2006, 07:33:09 PM »
if eto'o is on the market, there will be bound to be big interest from the uk - manyoo, pool, arsenal (if henry goes), even chelsea all need a proven natural striker and would all offer competitive champions league football... although whether the thought of playing reading on a pissin cold wednesday night appeals to him, im not so sure...

Football / Re: Rooney Injured
« on: May 03, 2006, 07:13:31 PM »
interesting article i read about how long it takes these things to heal wid so many players havin broken metatarsals.... none within 6 weeks - beckham played in 7, but seven was probably when eh should have started training.

apparently breaking the 4th is slightly better than the usual 5th, because there are metatarsals on either side that act as splints...

perhaps its just me, but if the england players sit back and look at their team without rooney, its still good enough to stop moaning about....

robinson

neville terry ferdinand a cole

beckham lampard gerrard j cole

crouch owen

subs: d james, w bridge, s campbell, j carragher, o hargreaves, m carrick, defoe

i wouldn't be moanin about that team...

and one more thing, if rooney isn't going to make it, i would put fowler in as the 23rd player - he is frankly is no worse than beattie, darius or darren bent and has been forging a good link with crouch at the pool...

a lot of nike is made in thailand and indonesia - however, most of the stuff people buy there is fake...

having said that, there are original dealers, but i don't think they're much cheaper... not sure what the odds of fining a trini shirt are though... will be in bangkok next week, so will have a look...
