Can someone decide on a Section? It would be nice to be in a group to support our Team. I'm thinking behind the goal 121-125.

This is what INTERCOL level looks like on the INTERNATIONAL level. This man should never be wearing the national colours. We have too much quality to be beaten by that Haitian team. SH do the right thing and sack this man NOW!

Cricket Anyone / Re: West Indies v India, 3rd Test
« on: July 07, 2011, 02:35:53 PM »
I don't get it. The Windies drew the 2nd Test in Barbados and need to win the 3rd to level the Series, thereby preventing India from winning the Series. Why would you bring in 2 inexperienced players to face Sharma and Kumar and not keep the 2 out of form experienced players who could click at any moment.

The US approach the game of football as a team sport and are committed to 90 mins of total football. Even the subs coming off the bench know what continued roles they have to play to obtain that victory. Trinidad and Tobago play their football in spurts and for most of the game are easily overwhelmed by their opponents. There is no consistency in our football. We have been playing football for over 100 years and this what we have to show for it.
The majority of Trinbagonians believe that dribbling and excelling in small goal is the game of football. We easily produce strikers for export, but we cannot produce quality midfielders and defenders. Why is this? A system has to be put in place geared towards our youth players so that they can efficiently learn and master these different positions.
For the last two decades the US have had a system in place and they are beginning to see the fruits of their labour. More of their players are being recruited to Europe, MLS is getting better and their players represent with heart and pride for their national team. Nothing else is acceptable. The US will host the 2022 World Cup and they have a very good chance of winning it. Believe it or not.
Trinidad and Tobago qualified for the last World Cup on the backs of two old men: Yorke and Latapy. For the last two decades we have not produced any player near the calibre of these two players. What we have are impostors. The US do not need players like Jones or Edwards who show up sometimes or are not there most of the times. So this Wednesday  leave the steel-pans, iron and drums at home and stop making these mediocre players feel like kings for their inconsistency and lack of knowledge of the game. Some good booing might send a message to the players and administration that Trinbagonians have had enough of this mediocrity. Enough is enough.

We might get a draw in Guatemala if we lucky. We beating the Cubans, but is more cutarse from the Americans. We just can't beat the US. They have we #. Why we can't beat them? They have MASTERED the fundamental aspects of playing football as a team sport. The draw against Guatemala in Trini is going to come back and haunt us. We NEVER could or should I say we CAN'T shut down a game after scoring first, late in the second half to win a game. With 5 minutes to go dem fellas start thinking bout victory celebration and which bumsee they wining on tonight. Sorry fellas, we not making de hex, and who vex.....vex.
Again, the name of the game is JUST to qualify for the World Cup. When we get there, whatever happen....happen. If we learn to beat the US, we beating everybody because right now, nobody beating them in Concacaf and they qualifying since 1990. So their coaches must be doing something right. Hands down our players are more skillful than the Americans, but we need to learn to move the ball on the field and get it in the net as a team, and we don't need another Latapy or Yorke to do this.
We need to start building, start thinking long-term and forget about the quick fixes, and while we are at it, hire a good AMERICAN coach to take us to the promise land again and again.

Allyuh want to go to the world cup? This thing real simple.......hire Bruce Arena. Who's #1 in Concacaf? The US. Hire the American to teach our boys to play football like a team sport and keep it basic. Play MLS teams practice games. When was the last time Trinidad beat the US in world cup qualifying? If you can't beat them, join them. Follow that simple formula and I guarantee we qualify for the world cup every 4 years. Face it, we haven't produced a Yorke or a Latapy in almost 3 decades and I don't think one is coming anytime soon.

Follow that simple formula and Watch de Ride!!!

« on: November 25, 2005, 09:52:21 PM »
In 1981, these two teams were great teams. Fatima had Corneal, Rodriguez and Craig, while St. Augustine had Pollonais, Gray (former WI fast bowler) in goal and quite a few others (the best from Arima). Whenever, these two teams matched up that year, it was always a classic and a single goal always determined the winner!
I don't think these two present teams have the calibre and pedigree that was present in 1981, but for whatever it's worth: GO MACHINE GO!!!

Football / World Cup a stage for all of T&T
« on: November 20, 2005, 04:15:32 PM »
World Cup a stage for all of T&T
Trinidad Express

We expect that the movers and shakers who will shape Trinidad and Tobago's cultural contribution to World Cup 2006 are as aware as anybody else that there is more to Trinidad and Tobago's culture than mas. It is not that we wish to underestimate the visual colour and vocal power of the carnival arts which have been exported to various parts of the world including, already in some small measure, Germany. But Trinidad and Tobago is a multicultural country and, whatever Carnival's impact on the national consciousness, the World Cup Finals provide us with a priceless opportunity to showcase various aspects of the national identity.

It is true also that the modern Carnival continues to see growing involvement of all of this country's constituent groups but to limit our appearance on the World Cup stage just to costuming, calypso, rhythm section, tassa, chutney, steelband and calypso-notwithstanding the inevitability of all of these being major factors-is to limit the range of this country's amazing cultural expression.

Certainly in the area of cuisine alone we would have to showcase not only the Indian-derived and African-derived foods but those that have their ancestral base in China and the Middle East-a visitor to Trinidad and Tobago's food booth at the World Cup sure to be awe-struck not only by the eclectic range of dishes but by the mixing and matching that have emerged over the years.

And what about this country's literary output. Should we not have on show the works of Nobel Laureates Vidia Naipaul and Derek Walcott, the latter with the permission of our sister Caribbean country, St Lucia, the argument, of course, being that Walcott for so long let down his bucket here. Surely, too, we would boast to the world the likes of CLR James, Sam Selvon and all our literary rest, perhaps even finding space on the shelf for the late and tragic Eric Roach and equally late and tragic Harold "Sonny" Ladoo.

What, too, of our, well finer artists? Will the Carnival clamour completely drown out the more subtle voices of Carlisle Chang, Noel Vaucrosson, Nina Squires, Sybil Atteck, MP Aladdin, Pat Bishop and Leroy Clarke-if anything about Clarke's work can be described as subtle? Actually, we are wedded not so much to the names we have called but to the overall concept, which is to show the world as much as we can of what Trinidad and Tobago is about.

The question is whether or not we have the organisation to put any or all this into place in the short seven months that we have. We do not have a history of staging exhibitions well-particularly when they are sited on foreign soil. But, given the huge window of opportunity our footballers have now won for us, should as many representative organisations as possible not be taking night to make day to, well, represent us to the world?

Germany: The perfect Expo for Trinidad
After the draw is made on Dec. 9th and we find out the city we play at and the dates, the T&T government, the business sector and the Carnival Committee should come together and rent a Convention Centre to sell T&T to the World. People from all over the world would want to know more about Trinidad and Tobago.
A stage should be set up at this Centre to have nightly concerts featuring our local artistes and thereby exposing our Soca music to the fullest. We should also have steel orchestras performing carnival and classical music, showing the diversity of the pan as a musical instrument There should also be carnival costumes from the King and Queen competitions on display. Large tv screens should be set up to run the parade of carnival bands on a 24 hour basis. During the day, the business sector would be there to market our exports from our manufacturing and energy industries. We have to sell everthing that is red, white and black that is unique to Trinidad and Tobago because people would want to know.
This is going to cost a lot of money to accomplish, but it is going to be worth every cent spent. This is just the basic idea.......

Football / THANK YOU.....
« on: November 17, 2005, 11:27:28 AM »
Thank you to Flex and Tallman for this site where we as Trinbagonians can share our love and pain for our football team.
Thank you to Marc Purcell who was a pioneer for such a site and later the catalyst for Flex to create his own.
Thank you to all the forumites who come here regularly to post, to share ideas, opinions and just be Trini. There are times when we disagree with each other, but we have to learn to respect other views and accept other personalities.
Thank you when almost 4 years ago my wife was diagnosed with an illness that threatened her life, but I was able to escape to this forum to relieve my despair and sadness.
Thank you for her being so strong in the spirit that she is on her way to a full recovery.
Thank you to all the other nationalities that come on this site to make our lives more interesting.
Thank you to all the waggonists who have climbed on board looking to share in the excitement, love and a new dawn in T&T football. The world is full of skeptics and we all cannot be good soldiers, so this is what makes a die-hard supporter so special in his convictions.
Thank you Bertille St. Clair for returning as Coach of the national team and being instrumental in convincing our captain Dwight Yorke to come out of retirement. Bertille has his shortcomings as a coach, but he was a part of the puzzle to which we owe our success today.
Thank you to Beenhakker for accepting the post as coach, bringing his wealth of experience and taking us to the promised land.
Thank you to our beloved Soca Warriors for showing the discipline, desire and having the never-say-die mentality that we wanted to see in them all these years to take us to a World Cup and erase three decades of disappointment.
Thank you to Jack Warner for doing everything possible to realize our dreams.
Thank you to our beloved Soca Warriors again for giving me the opportunity to attend a World Cup and to embrace, jump, wave, sing and dance with MY people and to show Germany and the rest of the World what's it like to be ah TRINI.
See you guys in Germany!
