Football / Re: Thread for the T&T vs USA Game (8-Jun-2017)
« on: June 11, 2017, 01:10:18 PM »
Except for those 2 lapses, I find the defending was above decent. But be honest . We set we self  up for pressure. But we could not  high pressure because of the altitude. Jan-Michael was a beast Thursday night. If was not for those timely saves we good for 4. Again we have to take we chances and put them away. If that Nathan Lewis goal had stand and/or KJ had scored, it may have been a different outcome. I honestly feel we not ready for Russia. We have some very good players. But right now we need about 5 great players at most, 3 at least to make a challenge for Concacaf. We have to improve immensely.

See allyuh in Qatar. That is if  those knuckleheads don't go to war. If they do go to war, see you in London.
I was pleasantly surprised with our game! Bateau, imo, is above a very good player and, I never thought the day would come when I could say this but, even Cyrus is playing well. Under Hart he was just awful. Maybe wing back is just not his thing. However, I must say that that my patience is wearing thin with Hyland. For a player supposedly of his stature, he loses/gives up the ball way to easily. Nathan Lewis , with a few more games, may get my nod as an automatic starter. Carlos is belying his age but has lost his ability to run past his markers. JJ was just out of it. Kenwyn should have scored, so too Molino, who had possibly the best game I have seen with him in national colors. Jan was a beast except for the second goal and Merkiel was decent on the night.

I would like to know what is the romance that national coaches have with the little short man from W connection who is supposedly a striker.

Call me crazy but I expect a better result in Costa Rica!! We should be able to adapt more readily to their high altitude.

Drug test after the goal huh, they were trying anyway to get Trinidad to not qualify lol what a set of crooks
Trinidad and Tobago. At least you could respect the team captain, Dwight Yorke!

For this reason I have always advocated a change of name to reflect one country, hence Trinbago, which comprises of two seperate island. My belief is that there is no exclusion in refering to a countryman as a Trinbagonian who can still identify as a Trinidadian, Tobagonian or just plain Trini.

I like Trinto Republic. But Trinbago cool too.

So what will you call yourself, a Trintotian? Just asking.

Football / Re: Why we only have Afro-Trinis on the TTFA staff?
« on: January 15, 2017, 10:54:41 AM »
And Trinidad and Tobago is such a mix country.

David John-Williams (president), Joanne Salazar, Ewing Davis and Allan Warner (vice-presidents), Samuel Saunders (Central FA), Sherwyn Dyer (Eastern Counties Football Union), Karanjabari Williams (Northern FA), Richard Quan Chan (Southern FA), Anthony Moore (Tobago FA), Joseph Taylor (Trinidad and Tobago Football Referees Association), Sharon O’Brien (Women’s League Football), Wayne Cunningham (Eastern FA), Dexter Skeene (Chairman), Dr Alvin Henderson (vice-chairman), Errol Lovell (former national goalkeeper), Jinelle James (ex-national player and current administrator), Jamaal Shabazz and Muhammad Isa.

Excellent point Sam!! It pains me to see this organisation run by people who are both under-educated and lacking in business skill, But this is T&T where incompetence prospers and yes-men hold high positions for a few dollars more.

Mohammed Issa? Jamal Shabazz? a person who committed high treason and should be either dead or still in prison, but for the incompetence of our then govt and the legal brainthrust that was advising it.

Dexter Skeene, though having a tertiary degree,  has proven that his management skill is typically Trini since we have an extremely apathetic electorate (regardless whether national , local or organisation based election). Dexter is incompetent! He has been running a welfare league for God knows how long and has the audacity to call it a pro league.

Although Cricket is by far more properly run, and it aint really a "pro-league" it is highly corrupt, in my opinion, ever since Bassarath has been running it.

Therein lies our dilemma in T&T. Corrupt or incompetence, pick your poison!

Sorry to see Hart go, but Fenwick is an excellent choice.

What sort of tactical approach do you envision him applying?

Solidifying the defence.

The defence was great under Hart until post David election as president

Yes and No. Yes DJW was clearly sabotaging hart.but, Hart helped to bring about his own demise. No international, or for that matter, any club team worth its salt, would have Cyrus on their 23 far less more on their starting 11. I can only believe that Hart was looking for a way out of contract.

Dont try to sell Jomal right now. He has some potential. But he just aint ready for this level right now. Ballpest has proven otherwise. On the other hand Cyrus will never be good. He has no head, no skill and if Hart cant see that tells me that Hart himself has to go!!.

Laddd fellas. That was tough. Our creativity comes from joevin and Cato...cmon...something gotta give...once we contain those guys...we have nothing happening!!

If Hart had real vision as a coach, and I personally think that is what he is lacking, Joevin and Cato would have been our right and left backs. He could have had Kenwyn playing on top of the 2 CBs and Guerra, Hyland and George in the middle Garcia and the striker who plays in Iceland up front. This BS that some players dont have a club at the moment is a non-issue when you have players who have a club and are just not up to this standard as yet. He could have called on the 38 yr old carlos to hold the right back position. Ballpest is playing regular ball and is a better option than Jomal, Ceasar and Kenwyn's replacement last night.

Hart is at sea!! Let him have the Honduras game and tell him thanks or have him working with a real head coach. Cyrus is the WORST RB I have ever seen playing for the national team. Oh how I miss Cyd Gray at this very moment!!

Hart has to go and go now. What the hell Cyrus doing on a national team is beyond me. Jomal Williams aint ready. We cant afford to wait! Sh has reached his zenith he just cant get anymore. He dont even understand how to use players and worst of all using players that should not even be near a NATIONAL TEAM. I dont care who it is but it is better he goes now!!!!

Can anyone give me some Info on Jelani Peters (Tallman). The team seems like a good one except for SH insistence on Cyrus. I wish he could prove me wrong but, to me, that player has neither the talent nor football intellect to prove me wrong.
Honestly , I can see us out of the running very early in the hex. As a coach, i believe that SH has reached his apex which is just not good enough for this final 6.

Prove me wrong SH , both with the onfield tactics and your Team selections. I could call out a couple other players who, imo, are not up to this level but Cyrus is a hugeee standout, a grain of sand in the apple of the fans' eyes, but a seemingly automatic selection on your and our national team!!  SMH, please tell me what you see in this player. The opposition see a path to the goal and a dangerous long thrower. If only one could wipe out the other.

We lost 2 nil. Watched what I could in the game. My thoughts are this. SH has reached as far as he could go with this team. We are in for a mauling in the Hex. I think his biggest weakness is that he seems unable to assess players (CYrus) and cant accept when players are having a bad game. Why did Ceasar even come back on in the second half?

If I have to watch another game with Cyrus starting then I am done with this team and SH. He seems incapable of fixing that leaking defence. Maybe its time to get him some help or just find someone who could take this team to the next level. I am truly sorry. SH cant take us to the promise land!!

For heaven's sake what does this man see in Cyrus? Probably the worst right back that has ever played for a senior national team. Our midfiled is shot! Save for Kevon George but even he cant do it alone. We are unable to string two decent passes in the midfiled without losing the ball and my little wonder Kid (Garcia) seems intent on running straight into players and losing the ball. Hyland never dominates and Joevin, like Hyland is inconsistent.  I could go on and on but my pet beef is Cyrus.

I would like to know what secrets he holding for SH or what he is seeing that every other coach, outside of T&T does not see.

We have returned to the boom Kick and that will bring about our demise in the HEX.

Nothing about this TT team gives you any confidence, can't defend and looks disjointed in midfield, their defense falters whenever they are under attack;we are lucky to be 1 down.I'll go to bed now because I've seen enough,I still hope we can fluke a draw.

I cant watch anymore. This team is nooooo good and horribly coached. Sorry Latas, but these guys remind me only of your defensive ability.

It would be nice to end the tour with a victory over China,we don't really have need to worry too much about our next opponents in the WCQs,Guatemala was beaten 7-1 by Armenia. That score was not ever expected, and it shows how badly the Guatemala team has fallen.

Saw the US (4+ goals?) against Bolivia this past weekend and made me reflect on if they sent a 2nd string team into T&T for a WCQ and get a draw in POS. If that is right we in for real problems against a full strength US team at home.

US second string unlike ours, becz of population and size of league, is always almost on par or on par with their first sting team. I wouldn't be too worried. Only if Cyrus, Plaza and Phillips make the trip as anything else but supporters. I believe our first team will match any in Concacaf. But when we go above player #15 then be worried, be very worried!!

Hart been looking for a partner for bateau for quite a while. Initially Abu seemed settled in the role and before that CM. MW was fantastic in that slot vs SVG but would need to see him vs stronger opposition in the CB role.

Anyway, would be interesting to see how we line up for those two matches in Sept  :beermug:

                      KJ/Molino

Levi                  Bostock/Boucaud                       Glen

JJ                         Hyland/Bateau                       Cyrus

                                   Jan

Replace the Boucaud with De Leon should he decide to join us.

George and Casear can come off the bench.
Kato is an option and we have a lot of defenders to come on...Hoytes...Williams, Abu, Marshall and David.

Levi

Idiotic defense!!  Williams and David are going to sit for Cyrus? Tells me that your knowledge of the game is limited at best. i won't even bother to comment on the midfield.

Since you are at it what about Marvin Phillips for Kenwyn? Or better yet Marvin Oliver for Molino...Damn :banginghead: :banginghead: :banginghead:

I think Triston Hodge will start soon

The little i saw of him gave me pause. How old is he? If he is young could be an asset. My only hope and prayer is that after this 3 game series, Cyrus, Phillips and Plaza are never called up again. They are at best mediocre players and should not be rewarded any further for their mediocrity.

Of all 3 though Cyrus is just horrible or maybe just playing out of position. He may do a lot better on the sidelines.

I now see why Cyrus back home playing in the local league.

Actually that is where he should be at this very moment. He could cause SH his job!! Conspiracy theory without trying. He is soooooo shitty I really have to question SH sanity whenever i see his name in a 23.

the defending is atrocious and that's putting it mildly...

That comes from the fact that Cyrus destroys any defense. He is very poor tackler, the opposition just seem to single him out whenever he is on the field. He is like a magnet. And almost always caught out of position. He causes an already porous defense just look like a sieve.
Cyrus stand up and admire vecino goal... Why this man even around a national team is a mystery!!

Khaleem is not a dead ball specialist.

Yet still he wants to kick every free kick....smh. We already have two extreme liabilities in Marvin And Cyrus. Marvin is a vampire and cyrus is the easiest man to dribble past. He is such a liability!

I read where a man say Cyrus getting better as the game goes on.. What do these guys be watching? Hopscotch? Overtime I see these two jokers on a starting line up all I does think is licks......for we that is.

Is meh country. I just have to suffer through it until.....

Marvin Philips is at a point where he is not going to get any better.  He shouldn't be beaten for that first goal.

About Marvin we can do nothing right now. We just are not producing keepers anymore. Under normal circumstances marvin should not even be 8th in the pecking order. I guess its a cycle. He is awful!!

It's not completely horrible.  Hart will explain some things if they listen they could beat this team.  STILL!!!

But SH has to replace Cyrus and Plaza. Anybody will do better than those 2!!

Cyrus and Plaza are always let go by foreign clubs after less than a year service. What is it that they see that SH does not see.

Sh is too loyal.

smh it was bound to happen with the type of shit we playing in defense
Daniel Cyrus!! Has to be the worst wing back in concacaf. Overtime this guy plays we look so horrible in defense. He is a liability!!!! SH has to stop this experiment with hoyte and Cyrus. lead hoyle at right back and leave cyrus at home. I can't remember the last time I have seen a bigger waste of space playing for T&T at right back or for that matter , any where in defense, as Cyrus.

Smh, I guess every Coach has a favorite no matter the cost.

Justin Hoyte should never be allowed to play for us again.
wouldn't go this far, but him and Cyrus would want to forget this game. (maybe it was the new weird defensive formation with only 2 in the back?) I really hope this is not a sign of how these 2 will play in the future, else we will need to search elsewhere fast.

There are too many games that Cyrus would want to forget!!

I am amazed with SH's memory when it comes to Cyrus.

He is NOT international material!! Even real pro clubs come to the realization that he is only a presence because of his size.

He runs fast but tackles very poorly. It is time we move past him.

This is just the beginning! J Williams will reduce us to nothing. All these nonentities who have achieved nothing in their coaching life are given positions ala JW to curry favor to an ignorant society. This new president is JW on steroids.

Imagine this man has brought that dinosaur, Mohammed issa, probably one of the worst excuse as a coach, and has given him a position in his administration. Heaven help us as we are about to revert to pre 1990 football.

Watch this idiot go out of his way to get rid of SH. If these hit men in T&T only knew to pick worthy candidates people like Skeene and the new pres. would be history.

Football / Re: I respect Stephen Hart but.......

That's the worst I ever see T&T play.

Hart sub a striker for a striker and a defensive midfielder for a defensive midfielder in a must win game.

The long balls killed us, Haiti looked like they wanted it more, T&T players Hyland and Boucaud did not lead the way for senior players.

I don't blame Hart too much. But the Chelsea approach just does not work in today's football, he did the same vs USA.

When a team is hot you have to build on that, not cool them down.

Who plays with one striker in a must win game especially in the second half?

433 or 442.

Why play concertive and then hope to hit on the counter against HAITI !!!!!

Haiti !!!!!

We tried 3 times to qualify for the Copa America and failed.

Maybe is just not our time.

Better luck next time T&T.

Good luck to Hart and his team, I know Hart is a good guy, I just hope he approach games differently depending on the importance.

Lesson learnt.

Well said!!

We need to learn from tonight. The chemistry was off, spacing between midfield and offense was huge. Feel like they missed KJ
....and someone to command d He foughtCAM and wings.....winchester looked useless for the most part....and why no Cato

I thought Winchester looked good. He fought a lot. Glenn was off.
