Only in Trinidad would this be even considered....I didn't hear Argentina telling Messi and Sergio Aguero to leave their European club to come play in the Argentine First Division for the development of the team in the past....or Brazil saying to its oversees player or those on team in the Campeonato Brasilero to leave their clubs to keep the team together...Not even the USA does that ....We are just sillySilly.....Look we are not goinnngggggggggggg to win the frickin competition...so keep a good nucleus together in the pro league and plug in the oversees players for the tourney. No pressure should be put on Gay or Highland to leave Europe....a better standard of Football (2nd division germany vs Pro league...u pick.) the salaries that they are making AND A BETTER PROFESSIONAL AND MEDICAL environment... ...to return to the U 20 PRO FRICKIN LEAGUE for a team that will be BROKEN UP after Egypt in September. What if Gay OR Hyland or any others...get hurt in the pro league.....do you think they will take him to Egypt on crutches...They will leave their asses  home to look at the tourney at TV like the rest of us......Doesn't the fact that we have U 20 players in Europe raise the team profile...Plus why should Primus leave Jabloteh and miss the chance to play with a better team, better players and tougher compettitions like the Concacaf Champions lEague.....Dammit I feel depressed that I have to write on this...sheeeesh.

Sjahrain is quite simply  either someone who was never good enough to make it in football or is related to some who is not good enough. Jamal Gay was allowed to play for Joe Public at Foxboro on Tuesday. He will be back in time for the second game. He is the leading scorer for them in Super League....scored against St. Francoir Nations (FOR THE UNDER 20) and New England Revoltion( ist in the MLS) last week. Anybody else on the U20's as prolific as he is. NOOOOOOOO. He hasn't pissed anyone off. The usual big player business. Stop acting like a homo....is 2008...time to be a grown up :rotfl: not a bulla :rotfl: man...Act like you have a couple CXC passes. and stop disgracing the forum with rubbish posts like that. :rotfl: God help us...on this blog

Yeah...lets wait till they ready.....but wait.....how dey gonna get ready.....playing U20 ball...or in de pro league of trinidad and tobago. Yeah right.....every last one of the best youth talent needs to be professional oversees by 18. Thats what the rest of the world does.I cannot wait until we don't qualify. As Trinidadian football fans we always thinking bout now. Never the future. Our youth set up is one of the worst. U rarely see a group progress from U15 TO senior level. Well...it makes no difference because we WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE NEXT WORLD CUP .... :rotfl:

Sunderland's Yorke suffers possible fracture

SUNDERLAND, England (AP) - Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke may have suffered a fractured cheekbone and could miss Trinidad and Tobago's next World Cup qualifier.

Playing in a pre-season friendly in Portugal for Sunderland on Wednesday, Yorke was struck in the face by Vitoria Setubal goalkeeper Nikola Milojevic.

The English Premier League club at first thought he suffered only bruising, but a report on the club Web Site said it could be more serious and he will have X-rays to establish the extent of the injury.

"We thought it was just a bang on the head," Sunderland manager Roy Keane said. "But there could be a fracture there, around his eye, he'll be out for a number of weeks."

Trinidad plays its first match in the third round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying on Aug. 20 in Cuba. Other teams in the round-robin group are the United States and Guatemala. The top two will advance to the next round.

Beckham handed England captaincy
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO v ENGLAND
Venue: Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain
Date: Sunday, 1 June Kick-off: 2230 BST
Coverage: Live on BBC ONE, BBC Radio 5 Live/online
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beckham appears to have won over Capello again
David Beckham has been named England captain for Sunday's friendly against Trinidad & Tobago.

It is a remarkable turnaround for the 33-year-old who stepped down as skipper after the 2006 World Cup and was then dropped by former boss Steve McClaren.

The midfielder did regain his place under McClaren but was then made to wait for his 100th cap when current manager Fabio Capello took charge.

Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and John Terry were Capello's previous skippers.

The Italian is rotating the captaincy among his players before he makes a permanent decision.

Capello said: "When I took over as manager I decided to choose a different captain for each game, and David was on one of the four players I thought of.

"David will be the last captain - but only for this game.

"He played very well against USA in the first half and he starts as captain in the next game. But it is impossible to know what will happen in the future."

Beckham will lead the team out for the 59th time on Sunday and is likely to take charge of an inexperienced England team.

Some of the younger squad members may be given the chance to impress as seven players involved in the Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester United - including Terry and Wayne Rooney - have stayed behind.

I have a few more wrinkles now but I still feel I can do what I did 10 years ago

David Beckham

Capello has had concerns over Beckham's fitness and the fact that he now plays his football in the USA with LA Galaxy.

Asked if he had changed his mind about Beckham, Capello replied: "No, I know David very well because I had him with me at Real Madrid.

"We had some problems there at the start but he was very important for me there at the end of our time."

However, Beckham's recent performances will have no doubt put him back in Capello's thoughts for England's World Cup qualifying campaign next season.

Particularly when he set up the opener in the recent 2-0 win against the USA, delivering a precise free-kick for Terry to head in.

Beckham said: "People will always question whether I can still play at this level but I want to carry on. I am not ready to stop playing for my country.

"I have a few more wrinkles now but I still feel I can do what I did 10 years ago.

"I was happy with my performance against France in March, my first game under Fabio Capello, and it was the same against the United States the other night.

 606: DEBATE
I just despair at this news, what is going on?

Crazy Cesc & his doughnut disco!

"I was happy to set up the opening goal. I can bring a lot more to the team than set pieces but it is one of my strongest things that I can do in the game.

"There is always a chance if I get a set piece that I'll put it in the right place for someone to score."

Ferdinand had been thought to be in pole position to take the captain's armband on a permanent basis after his efforts for Manchester United in their double-winning campaign.

But the defender, who led England against France in March, remains cautious.

"It's down to the manager, he has said he will make his decision next season so we will all be waiting to hear what he has to say," he said.

"Who wouldn't want to be captain of their country? There are four or five of us vying to become that.

"Whoever gets the responsibility of being captain, it will be a proud moment for him and his family and all the lads will get behind it."

Might ben a couple screamers past Ince after dis one... :rotfl:

Calm down people....Jamal Gay won't start...he'll probably get 10 or 20 mins minutes in de dreggs. I feel is Daryll Roberts...and Stern up front if Jnoes can't play. I don't care bout de result. This game is for local talent to get a look so that we good get more young players in Europe playing.....so that in later qualifying we could compete wit America and Mexico. Plus forget strikers we have dat....Do we have a proper midfield  and defense for these games comin up :rotfl:

Trust me .....if they were good enough...they would be out of that level....Corneal lets Jamal Gay and Adams on the senior roster. Jamal Gay never even played national youth ball before. We need to get everybody good off the island into Europe. Its the only way we can develop a good squad for 2014 in Brazil. They still going to use 75% OF THE LAST wORLD cUP TEAM TO TRY TO QUALIFY..

Tell me that last time you looked at an English player other than Gazza, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand  & possibly Rooney (after he fanway Mexes for the first goal yesterday) and said "that man is flippin skilful" No really. The best players in England are foreign. And don't say Steven "kick it hard" Gerrard and Frank "thank god for Essien" Lampard. Look at that over hyped and overated England team and you see what I mean. :rotfl:

WAKE UP TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Ths go around..the concacaf region is tougher than ever. It is really time for the Trinidad and Tobago coaching staff to really get their organization crisp before the WCQ in June. Forget the US...I really beliieve we need tremendous improvement to beat them...Forget Mexico...because if they fire Snchez..(a national hero) they takin it super serious this go around...I am worried about teams like Costa Rica , Honduras, Haiti and maybe Canada. I really getting the feeling of the "94 for sure" vibe that went terribly wrong for us after we failed in 1990. With the exception of the Under 17 last year.. our youth teams and local based senior tems have been heavily underachieved in the Concacaf region for the last ten years. These young playes from other countries are now in their senior teams. The hunger and desire is evident..(Under 23 qualifying and tournament) Nobody not going to lie down for we dis rounds. Teams comin and dey comin HARD. DEY DON'T BUSINESS BOUT WHO PLAYING IN HOLLAND OR IF SUNDERLAND BETTER DAN AAN MLS TEAM. DON'T CARE BOUT BIG NAMES....EVERYBODY WILL BE GUNNIN FOR AH SPOT IN 2010.The deciding factor is the unity. Other teams in the region seem to have whole teams coming through the ranks rom U 17's to senior national teams. Take Haiti,Honduras, Costa Rica ,US and Mexico. In the Trinidad system  their is too much fragmentation.... Coppin and changin..One minute we going wit de youths ..next minute is foreignbased. I believe that we need to go foreignbased dis rounds...no disrespect to local players...but we cannot afford to be blending teams for qualifying. Bring de bomb squad ..den after we qualify figure out de rest. Local based is fuh friendlies. If we fail...fail with the best available..no exceptions...no excuses...WE BETTER GET SERIOUS QUCKLY.....FOURTH PLACE DIS TIME PLAYING FIFTH PLACE IN SOUTH AMERICA..NOT BAHRAIN. ;D

Football / Jamal Gay....where he come from?
« on: March 28, 2008, 09:29:55 AM »
I read an interesting forum topic on Jamal Gay posted a few days earlier. I never heard of him before the Intercol last year. I did some research on him. Did you know that Jamal Gay, Nathan Knox and Gorian Highely all played on the same National Primary School Championship winning team Arima Boys RC back in like 2000... Not that anybody cares..... I thought that was interesting. Jamal Gay was considered the best player back then....If he went to a North Zone school we would have heard of him a long time ago..I was told that he has been a standout player in the recent Under 20 training camps. In fact from good sources I was told that Jamal Gay is very very well respected by both coaches and players all over the country...he did so well that he impressed Maturana and Corneal enough to try him out on the Senior team. I think he is an inspirational story for alll those players who felll through the cracks of the National Youth systems. Alot of players believe they would never make a Senior National Team if THEY were not a U 17 OR u 20 PLAYER.I saw him in the stadium and I thought he handled himself extremely well for a debutant. Who knows.....he may or may not turn out to be good enough to be a regular but the fact that he was given an opportunity after being anonymous to that National Youth scene (and to alot of you on thjis site) speaks very well of the current National set up. This would not happen in the past. I think we need to commend the new regime for their willingness to try new talent. You see what the US is doing. They goin young with Adu and Altidore. We have to work hard to maintain our status in the concacaf region. Or else Haiti or Honduras and the rest will catch up and past us.  ;D
