Football / Warriors, attack with full force versus Paraguay
« on: June 17, 2006, 07:35:32 AM »
Warriors all the way!  Good to hear that Jack and Marvin are training again.  Thanks to Shaka for two great games.  Stern tried, but did not produce his usual goods.  Smetimes we need to try new things.   We can get to the 2nd round, but need to change the focus to attack.  After serious consideration of our roster, I believe that the following combination can achieve at least a 2-0 victory, and it will mean a 3-5-2 formation:

Jack in Goal
Sancho, Andrews and Lawrence in defence
Edwards at right wing half, Birchall at inside right midfield, Latapy at center midfield, Whittley at inside left midfield, Samuel at left wing half
Yorke and Jones as strikers

Subs, from: Glen, Scotland, Avery John, Cyd Grey, Stern John, and Shaka Hislop

Latapy is the key to thread the passes, in midfield, with Edwards and Samuel running down the wings.  The experience of Yorke in front can do it for us.   We have two very fast strikers in Glen and Scotland that can be used fron around the 60th minute, to continue the relentless pressure on the Paraguayans.  Come on Beenie, lets try Latas, this is his last game,  he will put out everything he has learnt as our midfield general.  Let him weave the magic once more.

Lets rain goals on Paraguay!

Birchie had a role to play, and I thought he executed well.  He is a ball winner and that he did.  I can't see your invisible comment as a fair analysis. ???

Brent deserves  to be happy, after the great performances so far in the World Cup.  Hats off to you Brent, a Belmont born and Trinity bred footballer, from a fellow Belmont Trinity alumni.

Football / Re: Beenhakker sees T&T in ‘last 16’

We have a great technical team in charge, and Beenhakker is a technically and strategically brilliant coach.  With the proper managing of the preparation, and a good draw, and finally that we carry the fittest and technically best players, there is no reason why we can move into the knockout stage.

I coach field hockey, and I always tell the youngsters that I coach, to pattern off of our footballers, as they can learn alot from watching football.    Some advice to Mr. Beenhakker,  I believe Cornel Glen, is our secret weapon in attack.  A fitter Stern will destroy any team.   I am impressed with Yorke's workrate,  and the brain and finnesse of Latas, can tear defences apart.  The reemergence of a tight defence, was a blessing.  Don't worry Brent Sancho, you'll be there.   I would also like to see Angus Eve, our best deliverer from the wings, be there also.   Stay up guys, I met you all personally, at Grafton Hotel, last year in Tobago, when we played Northern Ireland, just before the long road to Germany.  I told you that we would make it, and so it was.

I thank the warriors for bringing cheer to my hockey team at the Ministry of Sport Youth Sports Festival this year, when they visited and interacted with the players.  I remembered telling Stern, to not worry, that the goals will flow again.  Thank God they came at the end, and brought us glory.  Warrior Forever!

Football / Re: Who are u surprised to see miss out on Germany 2006?

Ifeel for Nigeria, but unlike our warriors, they had too many veterans.  The blend was imbalanced.  The other team would have to be Turkey, especially after the last world cup.  One would have thought they would have built on that foundation.
