Football / Club Sandos In Toronto Will be the Lime for the Warriors game
« on: February 24, 2006, 11:40:43 AM »
I am calling all Warrior Nation members from Toronto to come together in Club Sandos to watch the game on tuesday, they will be bringing the game because they have dish network and get Fox Sports US.

As the Regional Head of Canada east i do apologize for not having any jerseys yet but they are on their way. This will be the first place where I announce the Warrior Nation. I urge everyone to be here on tuesday, even if you have to take time off work, take a lil pressure from the wife or girlfriend, butI do encourage everyone to be here and watch our team play.

I think everyone should congregate around 12pm at Sandos because last time it was jam packed, I will be calling the riddim section and the rest of die hards for this affair and hope to see all toronto massive there.

If you want you can contact me on my e-mail at gino.mckoy@gmail.com or you can call me on my cell at 416 997 7782.

I actually called Simpauls this morning and spoke to one of their reps, she stated that the $ 30 000 tt does not, I repeat, does not include airfare. This is disturbing to me because it will be a rip-off if this is the cost without airfare.

In organizing the trip to Germany from Toronto, it has been brought to my attention that tickets will be hard to come by, the question is will our supporters club be allocated with a specified amount of tickets. In order to ensure our team is well supported in Germany, ticket allocation should involve, the US, Canada and UK based TT contingent. Finding out that the US supporters club have access to buy tickets is in event making me wonder whether Trinis outside of our twin island republic will obtain tickets, besides the balloting process.

Just to let all the supporters know that I am not in this to make money, I have always tried to help my country in the best way possible without taking anything in return. The reason I am doing this is to bring together all the supporters in Toronto and pay less for a trip tosee the team play, and I am working  on a song for the Warriors, Truetrini and the rest that follow my music, you can check my response to your topic in the entertainment section, I have not forgotten anyone. Anyways im gone for now, I'll drop a post later on.

2006 World Cup - Germany / Chartered flight from Toronto to Germany
« on: November 25, 2005, 12:24:21 PM »
It's been a long time since I have posted on the football forum, but some ideas came to my mind since the team has qualified. With all the excitement and action, I am planning to organize a fund raiser with the help of local promoters, DJs, the consul general and the high commissioner's office. It will entail a fete or a few fetes, where the donations will be donated to TTFF or the players of the team, or even towards the marketing of the team itself. The goal would be to raise $100 000 tt or more.

The second part of my plan will include a chartered flight to Germany of anywhere between 250-300 supporters of the team. I will also try to work out an all-inclusive package for all Toronto based, if the US contingent wants to be apart of it, we can also organize and meet up in Germany as a collective effort to support the team in unison. The package will include the hotel, meals and accomodation, with travelling fares for all of us, this will also be included with the ticket price itself.
I will have to wait for the draw to happen first, the I will see where we are playing and then I will take it from there, I have the support of Farmers Rhythm Section and many others in Toronto, so it should work otu great.

I will determine everything by the end of december or mid-december hopefully, so we can start the process of going to Germany.

In addition, if anyone has any questions or will like to give some advice or help me with this, contact me by my e-mail, gino.mckoy@gmail.com.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / Re: Micheal Riddim gih we ah bligh nah

Long time no post, well in terms of my music, I've been working on a song for the last 7-8 months for Panorama. It's a pan kaiso, the name is "No Stopping", it will be done in a month or so. In time for the christmas season hopefully. I have also been working hard on my music portfolio for the different record labels I'm trying to get a contract with. So I have been in hiding for a while, been in touch with Flex and Socapro on and off.

I have a song I'm working on right now for the Soca Warriors also, but with my music I like to take my time and produce something good and of substance, the fast food music is not my fortay, so it will be quality and you will be among the first to hear about it.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / Reggaeton is Spanish Calypso
« on: September 28, 2005, 02:55:41 PM »
Listening to this new craze that is taking the airwaves I have realized that reggaeton is simply an older calypso snare drum with a calypso bass guitar and a kick drum. What I don't understand is that these spanish artists have the nerve to call it "reggae"ton. It should be called Calypsoton or socaton by the sound of the music. The only two elements of this genre thatmay be attributed to reggae is the lead guitar and maybe the lead vocals or rapping; which can also be compared to rapso.
The last time I visited home, I spoke to Brother Resistance at length about Rapso and the lack of American recognition of Rapso and our music in general. I think the elders of the music back home would disapprove also that the spanish isles are using our music without giving Trinidad and Tobago credit, we need to spread greater awareness of our music in order to avoid these things from happening. Especially when it denies us our true right to our music which has been used by so many artists in so many different genres of music.

This is my real bredda father who started this tv station, their trinis based in Toronto. It will bring all the cricket and football from the Caribbean, Trinidad especially. Stephan told me his father was starting a tv station but I didn't know it had so much to offer to the Trinbago and Caribbean community at large. I hope their success continues, very pleased with their achievements.

Congrats to KMC, however I initially thought that Universal Records was interested instead, Ultra Records? Can't really say I've heard of them at all, they are a new label in New York, I wonder what Artists they have produced before.Well I hope things go good for KMC, he needs to come with more good music, the rag thing needs to end in order for him to get international recognition. I'm surprised about the Universal deal though, maybe Ultra Records is an affiliate label, just like Boom Tunes is an affiliate of Atlantic Records. I wonder if Machel will continue to go unsigned or he will sign eventually with a label, I really wonder where his focus is at times, it alludes me where he is trying to take his music.
