« on: February 27, 2014, 11:21:30 AM »
Can we have a league standings page for the zonal leagues, super  league and the pro league an a league standings page please? I think  will make things better for the fans.

I have asked for a league standings for the eastern counties football union and we haven't had one.
We are fans of T&T football and they deserve all the help they can get. Their clubs have been performing well.  Come on lets promote d football properly.

This should not be happening at football matches.

A doubleheader was carded for the Couva Recreation Ground last Friday, but the second scheduled game between St Mary’s United and Cap Off Youths FC was abandoned due to an alleged stabbing incident.

Does anyone know about the game that was blown off between valtrin united and joe public?

I had a look at the first installment of this series last night. I really enjoyed this show as it was very entertaining and well put together.
The acting was decent and  overall it was a well produced show.
Good job  Danielle Dieffenthaler!

Anybody else had a look  at this show?

Football / Meh bredren get lock up(Defence force super league player)
« on: March 19, 2008, 03:07:06 PM »
I played football with Gary John.He never played SSFL but he trained with St Francois Nationals when i was there,  we also  played small goal together. He was a good player and a real good person, no lie.
I real sorry for the man. He is from Pashley street, Laventille. He had it real hard back in them days.He had a season with Trendsetter Hawks as well.Toze Francisco was his agent and organised a trial with a portuguese 2nd division club;Gary was playing with Superstar Rangers at that time.
When he came back from Portugal he brought loads of magazines and football shirts.
That was the first time i saw a Porto shirt in living colour.

Trini real sad oui :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

No bail for soldier
By RHONDOR DOWLAT Tuesday, March 18 2008

SOLDIER Gary John, 28, of Pashley Street, Laventille along with two other men were denied bail yesterday by a Chaguanas magistrate before whom they appeared charged with armed robbery and gun-related charges.

John, Marvin Pierre, 31, of Ajodha Road, El Socorro and Anthony Gittens Solomon, 25, of Upper Erica Street, Rock City, Laventille were called before First Court magistrate Nanette Forde-John at about 10.45 am. They were each charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and three counts of robbery with violence. Forde-John read the charges which alleged: On Wednesday 12 March at about 11.15 pm, the three men stormed Han’s Restaurant and Bar in Edinburgh Village, Chaguanas where they robbed its owner of cash and a gold chain.

It is also alleged that officers recovered a firearm and ammunition in a vehicle.

The three were not called on to plea as the charges were laid indictably. They were charged by Cpl John Barrow of the Chaguanas CID. Court Prosecutor was Sgt Samuel. John who served two years in the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force was subsequently discharged of his duties over the weekend in the wake of his arrest.

Outside the courthouse, Newsday photographer Azlan Mohammed and this reporter were jostled by police officers who warned that no photographs of the accused men were to be taken.

Football / Adrian Foncette Thread
« on: January 08, 2008, 11:30:01 AM »
Adrian Foncette received therapy
By Marsha Mokool (T&T Guardian)

Adrian Foncette was only 18 when he was told that he may never have the use of his left hand again following a freak accident which burst the muscles in his forearm.

The Fatima student, a goal keeper for his school team, was in a state of melancholy for months after his hopes of becoming a professional football player were dashed to the ground.

Just before the accident he had been offered a football scholarship from a university in the United States.

The accident occurred last May while he was travelling in a taxi. His arm was hanging out the window when another vehicle slammed into the car, severing the tendons in his forearm in the process.

Since the accident, he has had four surgeries, including a skin graft and a tendon transfer in Miami.

“After the accident the local surgeons said I would not be able to use my left hand at all and I may never be able to play football again,” said Foncette.

But he was able to beat the odds with dual treatment of physical and occupational therapy and is now back on the field again.

His occupational therapist Leslie Garcia said Foncette could not even pick up a cup after the accident. “After the surgery I taught him how to use the newly attached muscles in his left arm so he can get full range of motion of his wrist. In just a few months he was able to play football again,” said Garcia.

Football / Kevin Austin signs a contract extension
« on: June 03, 2007, 01:53:22 PM »
http://www.swansea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=67959

Swansea City Defender Kevin Austin has signed a Contract Exention with the club.

Austin signed a One year deal today at the Liberty Stadium and has become the first out of contract player to sign a new deal with Swansea city.

The Official Anouncement

'Roberto Martinez is delighted that Kevin has decided to extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium.'

There are 5 other new contract extentions with Swansea City players that are still to be resolved.Kristian O Leary , Steven Watt, Bayo Akinfenwa, Izzy Ireikpen and Garry Monk have all failed at this stage to put pen to paper on new deals.

There have been concerns that the negotiations have not been proceeding well.

An unnamed source at the club stated to the South Wales Evening Post

''The offers have been made to the players in good faith and yet the club have been left in limbo at a time when we need to push on, finalize our budgets and see what money is available to strengthen the squad....but the impression we're getting is that they aren't that bothered about staying...frustration is certainly growing within the club.'

It is hoped that Austin can perform in the 2007/08 season after a Heart Scare at Huish Park vs Yeovil last season. The scare threatened his footballing Career but Kevin was able to bounce back from his heart concerns.

There is no word on the progress of negotiations with the other out of contract players but it is growing increasingly likely there will be more departures in the club.

Football / Third party ownership?
« on: May 21, 2007, 04:43:04 PM »
I wanted to find what is really third party ownership of a footballer. The EPL made a big scene over the tranfers of two players.
West Ham bought Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Corinthians but yet still they were/are owned by Kia Joorabchian.

The MLS owns players when they are registered to play in the league. Isn't that  similar to third party ownership.
The question is who really owns the players in the MLS?

While I was in T&T I  did my rounds on the local football circuit, from the pro league to the zonal football leagues.

I saw a lot of teams, playing on fields that were not properly marked, teams turning up short of players, teams playing in mismatched uniforms,no medical kits, the list goes on and on.

It seems that the TTFF and corporate sponsors do not care about the state of local football.

Some communities no longer seem interested in football, as much as they did before.

For instance Arima only have one football team in association football.

No surprise that arima senior comprehensive are not doing well in the SSFL.

The team is called Creek fc, while La Horquetta have got a team as well they are not really
in arima.

The Larry Gomes stadium only has a few hundred people for the pro league games.

Big players like Derek King and Gorian Highley were  not playing at the time i was there.
Derek is injured and Gorian playing d arse.
Derek needs an operation but he could not afford it.

As for Angostura, everybody on this message board should stop drinking dey rum.

They are sponsoring a super league team, phoenix fc which plays in the super league and they have not provided a medical kit for this season.
Phoenix fc has not received a new uniform for four seasons and they are pushing for a place in the proleague next season.

This is the same angostura that threw a big fete or fetes in Germany for the world cup.
They are big time waggonists as i see it.

For anyone that does not know,Phoenix fc  are a team based in Canaan, bon accord, Tobago.
They are coached by Terry Williams, Dwight Yorke's first coach.

I does follow football right through T&T and this team has some good players.
If they were properly sponsored they would go places i am sure.
