Football / Turf Surface
« on: May 09, 2011, 07:05:34 AM »
Does anyone know what material is used to level the playing field in any of the stadia ? Like fill small holes etc ? I have a huge turf and i want to perfect it. I dont think they use top soil because that will cause mud. Any one know any of the groundsmen or contact info ?

Thanks in advance .

Football / Wednesday Training at Larry Gomes
« on: May 21, 2009, 10:12:29 AM »
Just some obversations:

Most Players were out on the field warming up before 5 for at least half an hour just passing the ball around.
About 5 minutes to 5 the "stars" came out :  Mr John, Tallman, Dog,Scotland and i think one other player.

Latas were in conversation with the Management yeam and then with Vranes before the session started around 5.

The trainers took over and it seems was very scientific and well organised. They used Bunjie cords, elastic bands etc. Most times the squad were separated into two with each trainer instructing each half and observed by latas with one and Vranes with the other.

Then they played one touch and then went into a 2- 20 min full game with full squads.

They Then had a session with latas and then warmed down.

Observations.

Stern was the biggest dissapointment . He looked TERRIBLE.
Dog was looking old and slow.
Abu Bakr was slow on the ball, usually needing 2 touches for control.
Guerra was in the midfield playing with Latas who was always talking to him. He looked nervous with Latas over is shoulder.
Spann looked better than the last time he showed up but was being caught wandering with attackers getting behind him.

In the game situation Latas was on what i think was the reserve side with the other (blue) team seeming to be the match side. Yet Latas side won 3-1.

Latas drag and sex Kerry Baptiste, scoop a ball to score and made defence splitting passes, yet he was trying to be inactive on the field. Ynbeliveable he still had so much impact.

He was asking Collin Samuel and Keon to put the ball in the box early. Collapse to the center when we dont have the ball and spread the field when we have it.

These Players looked good:
Collin Samuel
Keyno
Tallman
Keon

The following were good but shakey.

Guerra
Theobald
Hyland
Scotland

I think these will eventually get the cut:

Tinto ( was ineffective )
Abu Bakr
Kerry Baptiste
Stern
Dog

The strangest thing is i think that Latas my prefer a 3-5-2 system or some system with 3 defenders.

Hector , i couldnt understand , he was on the side with Spann, initially who joined the team after warm up , Tousaint who after receiving extensive treatment looked on and Kevaugh Cornell who was benched after the warm up and one touch.

Hector was not attended to by the Physio , ws in uniform and gears but sat on the half line of the field and took absolutely no part in the whole session.

After Latas spoke to the media.

His son and wife was at the stadium and his son was kicking ball for almost two hours, he kept calling for the ball on his feet, simply amazing.

Based on all the "expert" coaches here , I am surprised that a suitable replacement for a national coach was not found within the forumites here !!!

Football / Thank You and Good Luck Mr Maturana and Staff
« on: April 08, 2009, 02:16:33 PM »
With all the bashing that have at times been personal here, I personally wish to thank Mr. Maturana and his entire staff for all their efforts in T&T.

Mr Maturana is the only coach that based his team on the strength of local based players and he gave more players a look thatn any coach in our recent history.

He was a friendly person to the T&T public and while his defficiencies showed up , he did things his way and maybe the experiment failed.

Here forumites always complained abot giving local players a chance , then the same people insisting on Playing Spann who was not and is not even playing in a low division in the UK . The contradiction here was so obvious.

If i am not mistaken Maturana is the first coach in a long time to also Resign rather than be fired.

Thank You Mr. Maturana and your entire team . Best wishes in the future .

Football / Why do Trinis Stand in the Stadium ?
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:35:53 PM »
Even when the stadium is half empty there are those who stand in the fire lane (aisle) . Why is this so ?
Why cant we obey the safety rules and do what is right ? When we went to Germany did we stand in the aisle and refused to move ?

Just wondering ?

Football / Perennial Waggonists
« on: October 13, 2008, 02:34:41 PM »
It is interesting how so many "popular" posters here are  changing their tune pending qualification. Just yesterday palos comenting on Wolfe rather than Daniel on Sat. He openly questioned the coach and admitted how much peolple here feel they know the players and what they put out from training etc.

The truth is forumites here have no idea of the players approach to training  and discipline etc. When coaches make decisions they make it base on a wide range of varying assessment that is not always public .

Question. If T&T were on 7pts today rather than 5 as a result of victory over Guat at home (due to poor defending from set piece in injury  time ) , will we still be on the Back of Maturana ????

What about the Latapy factor ? To what extent does his presence affect our play and the effect of head coach as the man of authority ?

Is it that Latapy and Dwight are running their own show ? Are they the ones who champion the cause for Spann to return ?

Is the return of Latapy all positive ? As a player does he deserve the right to start , AS A PLAYER ????

Wolfe / Hyland is the better choice of a midfielder at this time IF Latapy and Yorke is playing as his youthfullness and hussle compensates a bit for their fitness/inabilty to run back.

The question is who is picking Latapy to start ? What does this say about the structure and authority within the team ?

The forum now and especially after the next two games after we qualify will once again look as that of post Bahrain ( at home)  !!!

So sad that so many feel they know everything here !!!!

Football / KEYANO THOMAS ? WHICH GAME WILL HE PLAY ?
« on: October 03, 2008, 12:40:29 PM »
Since Keyano has been so good lately . Should he be saved for the Guatemala game and not play on the 8th for JP?
If so should he then play the Dom Rep game instead ?

Football / Cenntennial Dinner Last Night
« on: September 06, 2008, 08:52:36 AM »
I attended the centennial dinner last night and i observed a few things.

1) Maturana is a very gracious individual.

2) Yorke shows great respect for our present coaching staff and generally all our football elders. Especially Gally. Wasnt sure of the relationship with Manager David Mohammed though . It looked tense.

3) Our past footballers felt honoured to be treated for the recognition they received.
Especially Mr de Leon. He was so happy , he was showboating .. Glad to see him feel so proud.

4) Jack , like him or not is a very powerful man in world football. He is described as a powerful administrator by all of the FIFA executives.

5) The most revealing thing i saw was the camaradrie that exists with all of the past footballers and somehow i think that silently they appreciate the work of the TTFF over the years nothwithstanding the shortcomings that they have personally suffered.

Mr Blatter had a surprised announcement and gift to the TTFF . Fifa gave the TTFF a GOAL project of some sort valued at 400,000 US !

Football / IF T&T was a Club Side ???
« on: March 05, 2008, 03:13:57 PM »
I read here how much people saying K eano have to buy new players and , venger this and that and this team is sh$t .

But what would you say if T&T was your club team ? What does the national coach do if like Keano et al , he dont have quality players available on his squad ? At least club coaches can buy .

What can  our national coaches do ?

It ia amazing how when we support our club teams, the problem are low quality players , but when it comes to our national team , Wim is crap and Beenie cant coach etc .

Are we being emotional about our national team ? because when men like Terry Fenick talk about our national team , men get vex .

Are we really disspationate about or football or are we more emotional ?

Football / Seon Power
« on: June 13, 2007, 06:19:38 PM »
I have supported and read alot of flack about this player. But i want to bet that Seon Powers has what it takes to become a good defender for T&T . Great heart and commitment .I hope he keep up the good work  and dont let what he  read here affect his willingness to become a better player for T&T.

He has drastically improved CERTAIN aspects of his game from the  Digicel Cup and under the defensive coaching of WIM he will be a good enough defender in two years.

About the tourney. T&T with or without stars only once ever got past the first round. Great learning experience , much improved young stars that will form the bulk of our hope and dream for 2010 qualification.

WIM is a boss !!!!! Kudos to A. Roberts last night !!

Hi all,

As you know DIGICEL is sponsoring the Digicel Shield next week 28th May and 30th May.  4 exciting games !!

I own one of the six digicel stores that are literally giving away tickets for these games.

So for those of you here  who want tickets , just visit my store CELLULAR UNITED at Centre City Mall , Chaguanas .

Ask for Khemy or Melissa !

Actually all you need to do is to buy a $20 top up card and you are entitled to two free tickets !!! This is a Digicel Promo at only 6 locations.

I really wish to give these tickets to true supporters of T&T football, persons who will go to the stadium and support our team.

I wish to avoid scalping ..This is a great opportunity to fill the stadium.

Let me know who are interested.

(Actual ticket prices are $50 and $100)

Thanks
Khemy

Football / Is Jack the only football BOSS ??
« on: March 09, 2007, 01:29:45 PM »
I was just wondering based on our knowledge of what happens in other countries. Is it only in Trinidad that we have a character or a BOSS as Jack ???

I believe the same exist in Jamaica and many other countries worldwide where there is a heavy dependance on One or Two individuals who finance and decides the football future under the guise of a federation !

Am i right ?

Football / The Start of a new era in T&T football has begun !
« on: January 24, 2007, 11:58:38 AM »
Guys i am reading all these posts and i wonder if we really appreciate what this tournament did for us.

1)We had a C team play attractive possession football, when they lost, won or drew.

2) We saw players who we never knew before, stood up and really staked a claim for a spot in future teams.

3) We saw players improve tremendously during the tournament. (Powers, the most criticised, has improved altough he strays too much).

4) We had great public support for this team. a great accomplishment by us the loyal fans. Please lets support our teams.

5) We had a Great coach instill discipline ant tactics on a group of players that have never played with each other before and who have never played on the international stage.

I wish to ask folks here :
1) If the 8 odd players from jabloteh become available tomorrow, who are the players from this team that you beleive should be deservedly dropped ?

2) Have we seen any Trinidad & Tobago team (bar the world cup build up) fight and play so attractively , with or without our foreighn pros ?

3) Do you all agree that this coach has accomplished alot and worked great with our young players ? Did you all see the passion and the care he showed when we scored, when substitutes were made ?

29
Football / Berbatov and Defoe !
« on: January 23, 2007, 11:38:12 AM »
These two players form one of the best striking partnerships in the EPL for a while. They play very smartly and compliment each other very well.

I personally think that Berbatov is one of the smartest strikers in the EPL. I am not saying he is the best but he is a very crafty and skilful player who uses his abilities to the benefit of his partner.

Football / Are we really giving credit to WIM ?
« on: January 22, 2007, 01:20:14 PM »
This coach has taken vastly inexperienced players and has the team playing possession football and scoring goals too.

Are we giving him as much credit as he deserves ?

He is a great coach and has done remarkably well with the playes that are available.
