Other Sports / Tennis: What is going on with RF?!
« on: August 04, 2008, 07:08:25 PM »
The mighty Fed is having a stinker of a year. Losing the Aussie Open to Djokovic was a set-back. Then Rafa beat him up in the French (expected loss, but not that massacre). He showed fight in Wimbledon, but was outplayed by a superb Nadal. Still, Wimbledon is HIS Grand Slam. Beaten in Grand Slams is cause for some concern. But to lose in smaller tournaments to men like Mardy Fish, Giles Simon, etc. In a couple weeks he is going to be officially the #2 player in the world. What is going on????

A good few men these days will probably go down in history as being better than Lara, statistically. Luckily, cricket remembers entertainment, style, and genius. Because right about now, Ricky Ponting scoring a century every two innings or so. Real man these days taking advantage of poor bowling.

In affectionate remembrance of Sachin Tendulkar's career-long love-affair with the Indian public, which came to an end amid a chorus of boos from his home fans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Tendulkar's week had started pretty well, with a pre-match presentation to commemorate his 132nd Test, the most ever played by an Indian cricketer. But after he had been dismissed for a tortuous 21-ball 1 on the second day of India's defeat, India's fickle fans were onto him like a flash, with abuse coming even from the stand named after the Little Master himself. "Such a thing happening to players like me is OK, but certainly not when this happens to someone like Sachin Tendulkar," said another Indian legend, Ajit Wadekar, who knows only too well how fleeting the public's affections can be. He led India to historic victories in West Indies and England in 1970-71, only to have his house burnt down after losing to England three years later.

Other Sports / Federer the Pele of tennis
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:04:00 AM »
Being an avid tennis fan, I watched the matches from the past week. I am a huge Roger Federer fan and believes he will be the greatest ever to pick up a racket. I want him to continue the legacy, but he has looked vulnerable in this tounament. However, I like the excitement and fun Baghdatis brings to the court. Plus he have a bess gyul ;D. Who will win?
