http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/09/04/wayne-rooney-cheats-on-pregnant-wife-coleen-with-1k-a-night-prostitute-115875-22537906/

Wayne Rooney paid for secret hotel sex sessions with a £1,000-a-night prostitute while his wife Coleen was pregnant with their son,
the Sunday Mirror can sensationally reveal.
The £100,000-a-week Manchester United and England icon slept with brunette Jennifer Thompson, 21, seven times over four months.
And, astonishingly, he even flaunted her on a string of dates to VIP haunts in Manchester, including bars, clubs and the city’s 235 Casino.
Last night a humiliated Rooney was confessing his disgrace to childhood sweetheart Coleen, who took him back in 2004 after the Sunday Mirror twice exposed him for cheating on her with prostitutes.
Rooney now expects betrayed Coleen to throw him out of their £5million mansion in Cheshire and begin moves for an explosive divorce. He told a pal yesterday: “My life is in ruins…I’ve been so stupid. Coleen won’t forgive me this time. She will leave me.”

As with the downfall of philandering golf legend Tiger Woods, Rooney fully anticipates losing sponsorship deals worth £6million a year which depend on him maintaining his family man reputation.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, escort girl Jennifer said of multi-millionaire Rooney: “He sent me SIM cards full of text messages and spoke to me on Skype using a false name. Whenever we met for sex, it was always in the same hotel.”
It is understood that Rooney, 24, booked Jennifer from an online agency in Manchester which promises its clients “ultimate discretion” after she was recommended to him by a pal.
Their first meeting was in July last year at the £300-a-night Lowry Hotel in Salford when devoted Coleen was five months pregnant with their son Kai.

Well-spoken Jennifer – whose middle-class parents live in a £300,000 detached home in a leafy suburb of Bolton – provided Rooney with “anything goes” sex.
After two two-hour romps with him at the Lowry a week apart from each other, she was dropped by her agency when she took bookings from him direct in order for her to avoid paying commission. The sex sessions then developed into longer, more intimate “dates”, often lasting five or six hours during which time he would arrange for room service to deliver dinner and champagne at the five-star Lowry.
On each occasion, he paid her £1,000 in cash for her company.
A friend of Jennifer’s said last night: “She couldn’t believe it the first time he booked her. He used a different name so she didn’t know who he really was until she knocked on the hotel room door and he opened it.
“She wasn’t star-struck. She considers what she does to be a profession and she always strives to be very good at it.
“But she got into trouble with her agency when they found out she was by-passing them and taking bookings from him direct on her own mobile phone and over the internet using Skype.
“After he’d had sex with her the first few times, he changed his attitude towards her. He said it was no longer just about an hour or two of sex but that he’d grown genuinely fond of her. But he carried on paying her whenever they met. It went on for four months.”

Their last meeting was in October. On November 2, Coleen gave birth to Kai. The source said: “He suddenly stopped calling Jennifer in October, although she has seen him out in bars and clubs in Manchester since. When that happens, she makes sure she stays well away from him to avoid any awkwardness.”
The source went on: “She’s a well-to-do young woman and has had a good education. You’ve only got to look at her to see why Wayne liked her so much.
“She loves the high-life and leads a hectic life of parties, holidays and nights out. She works hard for six months, earns lots of money and then goes to Spain for a few months to party with friends she has over there.
“When she’s run out of money, she comes home and starts escorting again. She’s young but very confident and sure of herself.
“In the past, she’s told friends that she would love to be a real WAG. She knows that it all coming out will devastate Wayne. She says she feels sorry for Coleen but that at the same time, Wayne must have known the risks of one day being found out. On a few of their dates, he actually took her out on his arm to bars and a casino.
“He must have been on some kind of self-destruct trip. It must have been obvious to him that people would spot him and see that she wasn’t Coleen but he didn’t seem to care.”
Rooney and Coleen, 24, met while they were at secondary school in Liverpool.
In July 2004 the Sunday Mirror revealed how he had paid £140 to romp with prostitute Charlotte Glover, then 21, before leaving her with a signed autograph as a souvenir.
Then, a month later, the Sunday Mirror revealed how he had sex with prostitute Gina McCarrick, 37 at a £45-a-time brothel in Liverpool, which he visited 10 times and where he was caught on CCTV. He also had sex there with a 48-year-old grandmother known as “Auld Slapper”, who wore a rubber catsuit.
A humbled Rooney later issued a grovelling apology, saying: “Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes. I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”
In her autobiography, Coleen later revealed that she forgave Rooney because when he had sex with the three prostitutes – in 2002 – she and he had not yet slept together or formally settled down together. She wrote: “The truth is, and I’ve never said this before, at that time in our relationship I’d never even slept with Wayne. “I was only 16 and we weren’t having that kind of relationship at that stage. We used to meet at the chippy or the cinema.”
After his double vice disgrace, Rooney gradually rebuilt his reputation, allowing him to garner massively lucrative sponsorships.
And he slowly re-established trust with Coleen. Rooney and Coleen married in June 2008 in a lavish ceremony in a converted monastery near Genoa on the Italian Riviera.
A beaming Coleen wore a £200,000 white Marchesa wedding gown and pearls while Rooney sported an open-necked shirt for the ceremony at the abbey of La Cervara.
In May this year, just before England’s World Cup disaster, he insisted being a father had changed his life. “Becoming a dad means you have to be a role model for your son and be someone he can look up to,” he said.
“Now I have someone to look after and I just want to be with Kai and Coleen as much as possible. I don’t go clubbing very much any more, maybe only a couple of times a year. I’m now in bed by 10.30pm.”
And he publicly acknowledged the onus on him to behave responsibly, saying: “The lifestyle I lead as a footballer means I am always in the spotlight.”
Rooney, who played for England on Friday night in the 4-0 victory over Bulgaria, was due to travel to Switzerland tomorrow for England’s next European Championship qualifier in Basel on Tuesday.
But it was unclear last night whether he would remain with the squad amid the crisis now erupting in his marriage.

Football / Chelsea bid £79 million for Kaka
« on: July 19, 2008, 02:50:52 AM »
Chelsea appear set to sign the Milan playmaker Kaka for a world-record €100m (£79.3m) after discussions took place this week, with both clubs and the Brazil international keen for a deal to go through. Sources at Stamford Bridge have confirmed that Chelsea are targeting the 26-year-old and it is understood that Milan are inclined to accept a bid of €100m tabled this week.

Initially reluctant to depart, Kaka now believes the transfer, which would smash the record of £46m Real Madrid paid for Zinedine Zidane in 2001, is in everyone's interests. His contract does not expire until 2012 but he is eager to play for Luiz Felipe Scolari, who gave him his international debut against Bolivia in 2002 and included him in the Brazil squad for that year's World Cup finals despite him being only 20 years old. The current world and European player of the year also believes Chelsea are the most attractive destination in European football.

Chelsea sent a representative to Milan this week to present a bid to the Italian club. Far from rejecting the offer out of hand as is normal practice and as they did with approaches from Real Madrid last summer, Milan sent a delegation to London and negotiations have continued.

Discussions have also taken place with the player's camp over personal terms, with Kaka, who has scored 22 goals in 59 games for his country, set to earn a significant rise on his salary as well as a €15m signing-on fee. He will arrive in Milan today after spending the summer recovering from arthroscopy on his knee at Sao Paulo's training centre in Brazil.

"Real Madrid offered €90m last summer and Milan did not even think about the bid," said Kaka's personal assistant and closest adviser, Diogo Kotscho. "This time is different. This is the first time we feel that a deal will definitely happen. Because of the [financial] situation Milan are in at the moment, the deal is good for all parties involved.

"The move would represent a significant increase in Kaka's salary, on top of the 10% transfer fee that goes straight to the player anyway - some €15m. Chelsea are the club to be at right now. They are building a team to win everything."

Given their current financial difficulties, Milan can ill afford to reject such a huge bid. Having failed to qualify for the Champions League, they have had to cut costs at the same time as embarking on the renewal of an ageing squad. They continue to seek a striker and the sale of Kaka would enable them to follow through on their interest in Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor, despite their vice-president Adriano Galliani's claim that Ronaldinho would be their final signing of the summer. Meanwhile, the arrival of the former Barcelona player - and the tumultuous reception he was given - has persuaded them they can release Kaka, safe in the knowledge that they have a glamour signing in his place.

Kaka believes he has shown his loyalty to Milan by staying last season, despite Madrid's interest. He has not demanded a transfer this season either, with the impetus coming from the two clubs. However, he does not want to continue at a club that will not play in this season's Champions League. Kaka's relationship with Galliani and the club's owner Silvio Berlusconi has also been strained by Milan's refusal to allow him to represent Brazil at the Olympics. Milan said Kaka was "tired" - a claim he publicly denied. Worse still, Ronaldinho has been allowed to go to Beijing.

If the deal can be completed it would virtually destroy the chances of the Real Madrid forward Robinho completing his "dream" move to Stamford Bridge. The La Liga champions are unwilling to sell until they can sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United. Last night Sir Alex Ferguson insisted the Portugal winger would still be at Old Trafford next season.

Football / Micah Richards caught in "vile orgy" video
« on: December 23, 2007, 03:37:19 AM »
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/2312_micah.shtml

By Keith Gladdis
ENGLAND ace Micah Richards has been caught ‘roasting' a young girl fan in a sick sex video passed to the News of the World.

The Manchester City star and a Premier League pal filmed themselves on a mobile phone during the depraved hotel toilet romp in the latest scandal to rock English soccer.

Richards is today exposed as a vile animal captured on video "roasting" a teenage fan in a toilet with a pal.

The star player and his Premier League friend, grinning broadly with debauched pleasure, have sex with the girl at the same time while filming themselves on a mobile phone.

The sickening video of Manchester City defender Richards was handed to the News of the World in the week that soccer's reputation hit rock bottom after allegations of rape and roasting at rival club Man United's Christmas party.

The film of Richards' roasting—a sick act which involves one man having sex with a woman from behind while she gives a second oral sex—was passed on to friends' mobiles by the swaggering pair.

In the clip, the 19-year-old player, one of England's brightest young stars, smiles directly at the camera over the girl's back.

Dressed in a white T-shirt, jeans and a leather jacket, he shakes his head around as his pal films him with his trousers down behind the girl.

Richards is wearing distinctive jewellery including a silver ring, earrings and necklace.

Then the other smiling soccer player, who is naked from the waist up, moves the phone lens onto his own private parts in the most sickening footage —and also films the girl giving him oral sex, reflected in a large mirror in what appears to be a hotel's disabled toilet.

The girl—a brunette naked from the waist down—moans with pleasure as the players shout: "Does that feel good?" Wearing just a black wool jumper and expensive black earrings, she doesn't stop pleasuring the men—even when a mobile phone rings.

Both players then burst into laughter and one of them says: "Who's ringing you at this time?" Towards the end of the 87 seconds of footage one of the men mumbles something to the other, causing him to shout "F*** that!"

Then as the sleazy session ends, one of the players says something that forces the girl to yell an indignant "Hey!"

Sources who have seen the video reveal the man with Richards—who played for his team against Aston Villa yesterday—is another Premier League player.

The footage is believed to have been shot in Manchester city centre in the last five weeks, near the time England embarrassingly failed to qualify for the European Championships with their defeat to Croatia at Wembley.

One pal told us: "Micah and his mate have been boasting about what they got up to with the girl, they think it is hilarious. You can tell they are both loving it.

"Most of my friends have now got it on their phones. But you can't help thinking they are treating the girl like a piece of meat.

"Even when one of their phones rings they don't stop, they just have a laugh and carry on. They don't really care to be honest, it's just another girl."

Another pal said Richards— said to be seeking an improved £14 million contract at City—is regularly seen in Manchester bars with his roasting accomplice.

He said: "They are so tight it is unbelievable, they do everything together. They have got a lot of money and they know it.

"They dress in flash jewellery and rap star clothes. To be honest they wind a lot of people up but the girls seem to love it."

Richards might care more when he realises how the scandal will put his budding England career at risk under new coach Fabio Capello—a renowned disciplinarian who demands the best behaviour from his players.

Italian Capello has warned that he will subject all England players to a month of intense scrutiny before deciding whether they are deserving of a place in his first squad.

He said: "A place in the national squad has to be deserved, and it will be based on behaviour, play on the field and attitude."

Richards was the youngest defender ever to be called up for England and is now a team regular alongside captain John Terry.

His behaviour will be particularly heartbreaking for his proud dad Lincoln who came to Britain from the West Indies 40 years ago as a seven-year-old. Despite bringing Micah up in the tough Chapeltown area of Leeds, he was sure his son would make a success of his life.

Earlier this year Lincoln said: "There are two roads you can go down, bad or good. I was never concerned about Micah, it was not in his nature."

The player even sees himself as a role model, saying: "To anyone from my area, I always give the advice that if you really want something, just concentrate on it and try to fulfil your dreams."

But our sordid footage reveals the Aston Martin-driving Micah has been drawn into the depraved lifestyle that is tarnishing our national game—and which erupted onto front pages all last week.

Budding Manchester United star Jonny Evans was arrested on Tuesday after a 26-year-old nurse claimed she had been raped at the team's party in the swish Great John Street Hotel. He denies the accusation.

Then it was claimed another girl was roasted at the bash by around five or six revellers—including three Man United players. Girls mingling with players in the hotel complained of being groped "like pieces of meat" by boozed-up stars.

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is now attempting to call time on the behaviour of his overpaid stars.

He has banned any repeat of last week's party where more than 100 carefully selected pretty girls were invited, but wives and girlfriends were banned.

Organisers are understood to have trawled the social networking site Facebook to find attractive young women to attend the party. But at the last minute it was feared there were not enough girls and calls were made to local lap dancing clubs to make up the numbers.

All United's players were at the party apart from Ronaldo, who was at an awards ceremony.

Roasting was first highlighted in 2003 when a 17-year-old girl claimed she was gang-raped by four men— including two Premiership stars—at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The two stars were interviewed by detectives but the case was dropped because of lack of evidence.

And in January 2004, three Leicester City players were questioned about the alleged assault and rape of three prostitutes at Spain's luxury La Manga hotel complex. Paul Dickov, 32, Keith Gillespie, 30, and Frank Sinclair, 34, spent six days in jail before they were all cleared by a Spanish court.

Football / Chelsea in for Kenwyne Jones
« on: December 21, 2007, 03:54:59 AM »
would be great if it happens especially as i'm a Chelsea man, but the source for this story is today's Sun newspaper so i suggest we take it with a large pinch of salt

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has agreed to a £20million raid for Nicolas Anelka and Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.

SunSport revealed Chelsea chief Avram Grant is convinced he has won the race for Bolton’s £10m-rated French hitman Anelka, 28.

Now he wants Black Cats ace Jones, 23, who signed from Southampton for £6m last summer.

Grant sees Jones as Didier Drogba’s long-term replacement. Blues will listen to offers for Andriy Shevchenko and Peruvian Claudio Pizarro to fund the deals.

Police are investigating a sex attack allegation after a 26-year old woman claimed she was raped at a hotel where Manchester United was holding its Christmas party.

Police were called to the Great John Street Hotel in the Castlefield area of Manchester, at 4.15am this morning after receiving a 999 call, according to reports.

The club had hired the 35-room hotel exclusively for the party, which was attended by Manchester United stars.

No arrests have been made and Greater Manchester police said inquiries were continuing. Plain clothes officers visited the hotel this morning to quiz staff about the party.

Article continues
A sign outside the venue reads: "Please note the hotel will be closed until further notice. Thank you for your co-operation."

A spokesperson for the hotel, where rooms cost between £235 and £395 per night, said: "I can't confirm anything. I can only say that we are helping the police with their enquiries."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester police said: "Police are currently investigating a report of rape at a hotel in Manchester city centre. At about 4.15am on Tuesday 18 December 2007, police were called to the hotel on Great John Street to a report that a 26-year-old woman had been raped. Inquiries are continuing."

Record-breaking £9m offer from Keane
By BRIAN MARJORIBANKS - More by this author »

Last updated at 09:19am on 18th July 2007

Craig Gordon is poised to become the most expensive player in Scottish football history - after Hearts accepted an incredible £9million bid from Sunderland for their goalkeeper.

Black Cats boss Roy Keane returned with a final take-it-or-leave it package after having an offer of £8.5m for the 24-year-old Scotland international rejected last week.

Tynecastle interim boss Stevie Frail had previously admitted Hearts were resigned to losing their captain and last night they accepted the improved bid.

Should Premiership newcomers Sunderland be successful in luring 23-times capped Gordon to the Stadium of Light, it would smash the record fee paid by a British club for a keeper, topping the £7.8m forked out by Manchester United to land French World Cup star Fabien Barthez in 2000 and the £7m Chelsea shelled out to sign Petr Cech three years ago.

Keane is convinced the 6ft 4in keeper has the talent and imposing physical presence to make a major impact in the English Premiership.

But his improved offer of £9m - believed to include add-ons on top of a basic downpayment of £5m - is still a stunning amount, given the top price for a British keeper was the £6m Arsene Wenger paid for Richard Wright from Ipswich Town back in 2001.

The fee involved also means Gordon will eclipse Rangers and Scotland captain Barry Ferguson as the most expensive Scottish player of all time.

Ferguson cost Blackburn Rovers £7.5m when Graeme Souness lured the player south from Ibrox in 2003.

Keane knows the player from his own short spell in the SPL with Celtic and he has already been willing to trust in talent proved up north, having signed Ross Wallace and Russell Anderson from Celtic and Aberdeen respectively.

The Sunderland boss landed his fifth player of the summer yesterday with the £1.5m capture of Norwich midfielder Dickson Etuhu, taking his spending past the £15m mark.

Should he land Gordon and finally find joy in his long-running pursuit of Wigan full- back Leighton Baines, then Sunderland will have spent an unprecedented £30m since gaining promotion.

Police have raided three clubs in relation to the investigation into corruption in football and they have been named as Newcastle United, Rangers and Portsmouth.

City of London police did stress that said the raids were not connected to Lord Stevens's ongoing Quest inquiry into the Premier League and were "totally independent."

The force did confirm that search warrants were executed between 7.30am and 9am today (Monday).

"Search warrants were served at three football clubs and the homes of two individuals in connection with corruption in football and its impact on owners and shareholders," said a spokeswoman.

"This investigation is a totally independent inquiry. It has not been influenced or informed by the Quest inquiry in any way.

"As this is a live investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

Northumbria Police have stated that "an operation'' had been carried out earlier on Monday by their London colleagues at Newcastle United's St James' Park.

TEDDY Sheringham could face jail after he and fellow West Ham soccer stars were arrested over an alleged scam to cheat driving bans.

The ex-England forward, 41, was held by cops investigating players said to have perverted the course of justice by agreeing to accept penalty points for each other.

Police launched their probe after one of them allegedly tried to claim he had been driving another’s car when it was caught by a speed camera — to stop his pal going over the 12-point limit and receiving a ban.

Hammers striker Bobby Zamora, 26, was nicked at his home on the Isle of Dogs, East London, last Wednesday morning. A third player, winger Shaun Newton, 31, was also arrested and quizzed. The three were bailed until next month.

It is understood a civilian processor spotted a Gatso image of a player and realised it could be a fraudulent claim. Further investigations were then carried out into previous speeding fines picked up by the player in question.

The Sun can reveal policeman’s son Sheringham — capped 51 times for England — was arrested on May 15 when he and his solicitor went to Chingford police station by prior appointment.

Two days later, Newton — who like Sheringham is currently looking for a new club after West Ham released the pair at the end of the season — was arrested at his home in Epsom.

A source said last night: “It would be naive of someone in such a position to expect they would not be recognised. An image of the driver is taken every time a camera is set off for travelling over the speed limit.

“It would be a great shame if Sheringham in particular — after such a long and distinguished career — now picked up a criminal record and was even possibly sent to prison.” Sheringham was last week awarded the MBE for services to sport.

The maximum penalty for perverting justice is technically LIFE. In practice sentences are up to six years.

If guilty, the players could be made an example of as cops crack down on the hundreds of thousands of speeding drivers suspected of getting friends or relatives to claim they were at the wheel.

Last night a legal source said of the charge of perverting the course of justice: “It is considered a serious offence by the judiciary because it undermines the law of the land.”

Football / Liverpool fans, worst in Europe
« on: June 03, 2007, 03:10:54 PM »
LIVERPOOL fans have been condemned as the WORST in Europe in a scathing UEFA report.

UEFA president Michel Platini will hand the controversial dossier to Britain's Sports Minister Richard Caborn in Brussels on Tuesday.

UEFA spokesman William Gaillard said: "We have an independent police report mentioning 25 incidents since 2003 caused by Liverpool fans away from home. That's the most of any team in Europe. We should all be very pleased that no one was hurt."

The report follows an investigation into violence that marred the Champions League final in Athens and accuses the Kop fans of causing most of the trouble.

Scores of fans with genuine tickets were denied entry to the Olympic Stadium in Athens last month.

Hundreds of others holding forgeries managed to get in to see Liverpool's 2-1 defeat by AC Milan.

Gaillard added: "We had 102 flags in the stadium, but by the time the game began there were only two left. People climbed up amid incredible danger in order to steal them, and we know a majority were Liverpool fans."

A senior UEFA insider told the News of the World that Caborn would have "serious food for thought" after reading a "thick dossier" on the disorder in the stadium.

Liverpool will mount a strong defence of their fans and point out they submitted their own report to UEFA before the final, highlighting their serious concerns about crowd control.

Cricket Anyone / Bob Woolmer WASN'T murdered, police will reveal
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:22:14 AM »
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=459345&in_page_id=1770&ct=5

Cricket coach Bob Woolmer died of natural causes, police will admit next week.

In a humiliating U-turn leaving them open to worldwide ridicule, Jamaican police are to announce that his death is no longer being treated as murder.

Instead, officers believe he died of heart failure brought on by chronic ill-health and possibly diabetes.

The sensational twist follows an extensive review of the evidence led by a senior Scotland Yard murder squad detective.

The news will shock the sporting world after a two-and-a-half month murder investigation which cast a long shadow over the Cricket World Cup and the Pakistani side which Mr Woolmer coached.

The 58-year- old former England batsman was found dead on March 18 in his suite at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica, hours after Pakistan crashed to a shock defeat against rank outsiders Ireland in the World Cup.

Within days Mark Shields, the flamboyant former Scotland Yard detective who is No 2 in the Jamaican force, stunned a press conference by announcing unequivocally that Mr Woolmer had died from asphyxiation after being throttled in his room.

He later stated that he was "100 per cent certain" that Mr Woolmer had been murdered.

The bombshell comments effectively wrecked the tournament and prompted a torrent of conspiracy theories including claims that Mr Woolmer was killed by a "match-fixing mafia", strangled by radical Muslims or assassinated by a professional hitman.

There were also extraordinary claims that he was killed with an ancient form of poison called aconite or was fed snake venom by Yardies.

Now, following the Metropolitan Police review, Jamaican officers privately agree that no third party was involved in the death of Mr Woolmer.

The conclusion that he died naturally will be revealed at a press conference in Kingston next week.

A source close to the inquiry said: "Mr Woolmer was not a well man. It is now accepted that he died of natural causes."

Mr Woolmer's widow Gill, who lives in Cape Town, South Africa, will be officially informed of the stunning U-turn ahead of the announcement.

Mark Shields, 48, who has faced allegations that he milked initial worldwide media interest in the death, now faces an uncertain future.

A colleague said: "The knives are out for Mark. It's enormously embarrassing . . . there's blood on the carpet in the Jamaican police.

"With hindsight, he should have ensured a second post mortem was carried out.

"Instead of saying the death was suspicious, he rushed out a statement saying it was murder.

"He is going to be a laughing stock." The second-in-command of Jamaica's police has enjoyed a celebrity lifestyle, living in an exclusive gated community and rubbing shoulders with politicians, business chiefs and media stars.

Colleagues loyal to Mr Shields say the pathologist who examined Mr Woolmer's body should share the blame for the bungled inquiry.

The role of Dr Ere Seshaiah, the Kingston pathologist, is under scrutiny after the review of his autopsy report concluded he was wrong to suggest Mr Woolmer was strangled.

When Mr Woolmer's body was discovered, it was clear he had been vomiting but there was no sign of a struggle.

A grown man would be expected to fight a strangler and acquire bruises and abrasions around the neck but there was none on Mr Woolmer.

Indeed, Dr Seshaiah, an Indian who moved to Jamaica 12 years ago, said after his initial autopsy that the cause of death was inconclusive.

It was only when he re-examined the body that he found the suspicious evidence.

The Jamaican police changed their opinion after the post-mortem examination file and photographs were sent to a senior Home Office pathologist, Dr Nat Carey, who dismissed the strangulation theory. The original examination in Jamaica concluded that strangulation was possible because a bone in Mr Woolmer's neck had been broken. Sources now say the bone may have been chipped when Mr Woolmer collapsed.

Toxicology tests showed the heavydrinking coach was not poisoned either.

Recent speculation that he was intoxicated by high levels of herbicide have been dismissed.

The formal announcement that he died naturally has been held up by toxicology tests after traces of a herbicide used on cricket pitches were found in his body.

However it is understood only tiny amounts of weed killer were present in his remains, and experts believe that the chemical did not trigger his death.

Sources said Mr Woolmer was desperately ill at the time of his death and that he probably died of heart failure.

He had an enlarged heart, possibly caused by heavy drinking or being overweight, and suffered from diabetes.

Because of a snoring problem, he used a machine to help him breathe more easily at night.

Following Pakistan's shock defeat, he was also under acute stress.

The Met review was led by Detective Superintendent John Sweeney, who is leading the re-opened investigation into the murder of PC Keith Blakelock in the Broadwater Farm riot in 1985.

Assisted by two detectives and a scene-of- crimes expert, he flew to Jamaica before Easter.

He was asked to examine every aspect of the inquiry, including forensic and CCTV evidence, witness statements and the pathology report stating the cricket coach died from asphyxiation after being "manually strangled".

He adopted a low-key approach to the investigation, in contrast to that of camera-loving Mr Shields.

Microsoft founder linked with Southampton bid
Last updated at 15:58pm on 27th April 2007

Paul Allen, one of the world's richest men and co-founder with Bill Gates of global software giant Microsoft, is the latest American businessman to target an English football club.

Sportsmail can reveal that Allen has expressed an interest in making a takeover bid for Southampton, the listed football club vying for promotion to the financial riches of the Premiership.

A bid would see Allen join the ranks of ultra-wealthy Americans snapping up English football clubs: Malcolm Glazer at Manchester United, George Gillett and Tom Hicks at Liverpool, and Randy Lerner at Aston Villa.

Most recently, Stan Kroenke has tried to wrest control of Arsenal, while Chelsea and West Ham are among other major clubs to fall to foreign owners in recent times.

Any bid from Allen is likely to be at a significant premium to last night's Southampton Leisure closing price of 47½p.

The shares have risen 20 per cent in recent weeks. Including debt relating to the club's move from The Dell to St Mary's Stadium, a bid could approach £50m, with analysts suggesting it may be worth as much as 65p a share to Southampton Leisure shareholders.

The deal would be a drop in the ocean for Allen, reckoned by Forbes magazine to be the world's 19thrichest man with an $18bn (£9bn) fortune. He owns the Seattle Seahawks American football team and the Portland Trail Blazers basketball team.

He retains his interests in Microsoftis an investor in the Dream-Works animation studio, a backer of the SpaceShipOne project racing Sir Richard Branson to launch commercial space flights, and owns two huge private yachts.

A source close to Allen said he "believes there is long term investment value in UK soccer."

He added: "Southampton is a sleeping giant, a family-supported club with traditional values, and we see the value in taking the brand global."

An Allen takeover could save the club's £10m-rated teenage international Gareth Bale courted by Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs.

The Southampton board has been in turmoil after the oustings of chairmen Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde, who both failed to find a financial saviour for the club, which is likely to lose £8m this year.

Coventry are expected to announce Iain Dowie as their new manager at a press conference on Monday.

Dowie has been out of football since leaving Barclays Premiership outfit Charlton last November.

The former Northern Ireland international is set to take over from Adrian Heath, who has been in caretaker charge since Micky Adams left the Ricoh Arena on January 17.

The Sky Blues are six points above the Coca-Cola Championship relegation zone following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Leicester and have won just once in 13 league and cup matches.

Following the loss at the Walkers Stadium, Heath said: "It was not nice being disturbed Friday night by phone calls from people asking what was going on and reading the papers. But I am not going to use that as an excuse."

Bravo will play but it's been confirmed that Lara is out  :(

CUTTACK, India (Reuters) - West Indies captain Brian Lara and all rounder Dwayne Bravo are doubtful for Wednesday's second one-day international against India because of injury.

Left-handed batsman Lara has knee pain while Bravo sustained a shoulder injury when he collided with the square-leg umpire while fielding in the opening game.

"We've got a couple of niggles. So we'll have to wait till the last moment to decide on our eleven," Lara told a news conference on Tuesday.

"I've got some pain in my left knee, so nothing can be said for sure. We'll see how it goes through the night."

Indian batsman Saurav Ganguly, whose masterly 98 in the first match last Sunday helped India end a six-game losing streak, has recovered from the cramps that prevented him fielding.

"Saurav is fine...he bowled well and batted well so (it) should not be a problem," Dravid said, referring to Tuesday's net session.

The hosts have named both their specialist spinners, Harbhajan Singh and Ramesh Powar, in the 12 for Wednesday's match with the pitch at the Barabati Stadium expected to turn.

Cricket Anyone / Herschelle Gibbs gets 2 test ban for racist comments
« on: January 15, 2007, 01:33:43 PM »
I was watching this game live and I couldn't believe it when I heard a voice say something like "F**king Pakistanis, lets get these animals out and send them back to the zoo" My first reaction was that is was someone in the crowd, and the commentators remarked on it as well, they also thinking it was someone in the crowd. But it later emerged it was one of the SA players and that player was Gibbs. Should have been a 2 year ban imo

Gibbs banned for two Tests

Herschelle Gibbs, the South African batsman, will miss the remainder of the series against Pakistan after being banned for two Tests by the ICC. Gibbs was charged under Level 3.3 of the ICC's Code of Conduct for making abusive comments about a section of the crowd, and his punishment was meted out at a hearing conducted by the match referee Chris Broad. He will also appear before a Cricket South Africa disciplinary committee on Tuesday .

Gibbs apologised for the remark but pleaded not guilty to the Level 3 charge, but Broad, in explaining his verdict, said: "I took into account the mitigating circumstances that the players were provoked by unruly spectators. However the remark was racially offensive, the player admitted saying it and on that basis I am content that the level of the charge and the resulting punishment is appropriate.

"Cricket has a zero tolerance of racism," added Broad, "as has been illustrated by the introduction last year of an amended ICC Anti-Racism Code, and this decision is an illustration of that fact."

The ICC code prohibits using "...any language or gestures that offends, insults, humiliates, intimidates, threatens, disparages or vilifies another person on the basis of that person's race, religion, colour, descent or national or ethic origin". Gibbs's comments, believed to violate the code, were picked up by the stump microphone on the fourth day of the first Test at Centurion.

Pakistan had lodged an official complaint with Broad after Gibbs was heard saying "a bunch of bloody animals" among other offensive comments. The comments were made shortly before lunch, soon after South Africa complained about three spectators near the boundary who allegedly swore at bowler Paul Harris. Ordinarily, a Level 3 offence carries a ban of between two and four Test matches or between four and eight ODIs.

"CSA has investigated the matter, and we have heard the remarks made by Herschelle Gibbs in response to verbal abuse directed by a number of Pakistan supporters at Paul Harris while he was fielding on the boundary," said Gerald Majola, the chief executive officer of CSA. "Herschelle says these remarks were for the ears only of his team-mates in his proximity, and were directed in general terms at that section of the crowd that had verbally abused Paul Harris. He has apologised if he has caused offence to anyone.

"However, CSA regards this whole matter in a most serious light and Herschelle will appear before CSA's disciplinary commissioner at the earliest opportunity. CSA would like to commend the stadium authorities for evicting a number of unruly spectators, including those Pakistan supporters who abused Paul Harris. This action was taken in terms of the regulations flowing from the International Cricket Council's Anti-Racism Policy."

South Africa's captain, Graeme Smith, agreed that Gibbs's punishment was merited, but added that his players had been heavily provoked during the match. "Herschelle was down at third man and he was copping a lot of abuse and I think even racial abuse," said Smith. "The worrying thing is that Pakistan always have a large support base around the world. Security needs to be looked at.

"There was an incident where Makhaya [Ntini] was hit on the head by a Pakistan flag going up the stairs," he added. "The guys were provoked and that is why they are angry but we understand that what Herschelle did was wrong." It is the second time that Gibbs has been banned from Test cricket, following his involvement with bookmakers in 2000. Australia's Darren Lehmann was the last player to be punished for racial comments, following his outburst against Sri Lanka in 2002-03.

Saleem Altaf, the Pakistan board's director of cricket, said "Sledging is acceptable but if it is tainted with racist comments it is unacceptable. Anyone making racist taunts is liable to be punished under the International Cricket Council Code of Conduct. We have let the manager proactively handle the issue."

Cricket SA's media spokesman Gordon Templeton, who claimed that he was "not privy" to the precise nature of the Pakistani complaint, said: "They are two separate matters. We are aware of the PCB's complaint but the CSA hearing is in terms of our own code of conduct and policies."

South African coach Mickey Arthur added he was not happy about the stump microphones. "They are a bit intrusive," he said. "What is said on the field should stay on the field."

Jordan's son in NYE accident
7.09, Tue Jan 2 2007

Jordan's eldest child Harvey has been admitted to hospital after he was burned in an accident on New Year's Eve.

The four-year-old was reportedly injured hours before Jordan and husband Peter Andre were due to hold a gathering at their Surrey mansion.

Harvey is now in a specialist burns unit at London's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Jordan, whose real name is Katie Price, cancelled the New Year's Eve party after the accident and has been at Harvey's bedside.

A source said: "Katie's worried sick. It looks like he'll be in hospital for a while."

It is not clear how or where partially-blind Harvey, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke, had been burnt.

Jordan, who suffered a miscarriage in July, is currently pregnant with her third child. The 28-year-old also has an 18-month-old child with Andre.

By Keith Gladdis

BOOZY Manchester United players shocked locals when they launched into a chant calling for Scousers to be BURNED during a Christmas party in a city centre pub.

The multi-millionaire stars, including LIVEPOOL-BORN Wayne Rooney, were caught on camera by a News of the World reader as they stunned punters at the Old Grapes in Manchester.

A group of first-team regulars led by club captain Gary Neville piled into the popular boozer at around 5pm last Monday.

As the beer flowed the footballers, including Wes Brown, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ryan Giggs and Alan Smith launched into a series of familiar chants from the terraces at nearby Old Trafford.

Winker

But regulars cringed when players belted out the anti-Liverpool rant Build A Bonfire—as Wayne Rooney sat with an embarrassed grin, at the heart of the stars.

Our man on the scene told us: "It was so loud you could hear it outside. If there had been a group of Scousers in the pub it could have turned nasty."

At one point during the singalong Gary Neville, who once admitted he was "brought up to HATE Scousers", starts a chant about striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while waving his fingers at Rooney.

And the players, some of them England regulars, even sang about how winker Ronaldo made our national side look "s***" at last summer's World Cup.

A Man United spokesman defended the players' actions. He said "The lads were on a night off and it was nothing more than high spirits."

Football / i think Chelsea are going to get licks tonight
« on: December 20, 2006, 11:13:29 AM »
i'm a Chelsea fan but i won't be betting on us tonight for the following reasons

1. our record at St James isn't that good especially cup games
2. i don't think Jose will be that bothered if we lose, what with fixture congestion etc. That kind of indifference often spreads to the players...
3. there is still a fitness doubt over J Terry, in any case i think Jose is goin to start with a lot of fringe players
4. Newcastle players and their fans will really be up for this game. It's arguably their biggest game of the season
5. Chelsea are odds-on to win this match at 4/6, a shockingly bad price in view of all the above. In my book Chelsea should be odds-against to win, something like 5/4 or even 11/8

Newcastle at 4/1 is the value bet but i just can't bring myself to bet against the team i support  ???
