« on: June 14, 2007, 11:27:25 PM »
With all de technology going into de construction(weight, comfort, waterproof.interchangeable studs etc)of football cleats(sorry ole timers it's evolved from just full grain leather and some rubber studs ;D) I ask the following questions....

1.Can a player's shoe help/hurt his performance on the field

2.Do you think it's just marketing ploys or do some of these features that are the main selling points for certain football cleats actually work

3.What is/are your favorite player(s) wearing

4.(regardless of what level played) What has been your favorite pair(s) of football cleats to date

Football / WOULDYOU/WILL YOU JUMP OFF THE SUPPORT TRAIN IF..
« on: January 26, 2007, 10:43:52 AM »
with the present talk of players going to court over $ related issues the scenario i've painted isn't that far fetched but whatever happens in the courtroom or outside..at the end of it all my 2 cents is that some trinis just know how to f--k up a good thing..and regardless of the outcome(which will never be a win,win one)..our football progress and development will ultimately suffer..while all around us our concacaf opponents get stronger with each day..sad sad business.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / 2007 Imitation Soca!!!
« on: August 08, 2006, 10:00:16 PM »
This is just my lil opinion....

De 2007 soca..or should I say what some artists trying to pass off as soca...soundind like TOTAL lala for de upcoming year...

Everything I've heard so far..sounding like de artists trying too hard to push a dancehall or hip hop vibe in dey tune..stupppps..

Bunji(who I'm a fan of) have a song with de back in de days spiderman beat called Hyperman..which sounds retarded..but..I must say..it has a message in it..(talking to the people that committing murders in Trinidad and letting them know how dunce they are)..

I know it's still early and it have real music to release still..but oh gosh man...

things so bad that men like Hypa Hoppa have dey own song playing on de radio in heavy rotation..and de track is pure lala..
Machel have a song name Bess(talking bout certain girls and how dem is bess because dey independent etc..) pure lala..
ah man have a track singing bout 'who say it'..imitating artists and dey distinctive chants...stuppppps...

strangely enough one of de best tracks I hear for 2007 is from Slammer Cutter(ah Trini based in Toronto)...when all yuh hear de track all yuh might get a good laugh or not and de beat not bad either...

hopefully it have better material still to be released cause if not...It looking like I go have to end up playing mas(if I play) with meh ipod in meh ears.

Football / FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT!!!
« on: June 23, 2006, 07:24:07 AM »
To add to Oconnorg's  Adopt A Team idea....

I suggest SW.Net,Warrior Nation and other interested parties come together and plan/host a football tournament in Trinidad comprising of players(Trinbagonian heritage) from Canada,US,UK etc increasing/showcasing the (possible)selection/player pool for the national set up in all different age groups....

Greece did it in 2003 with both male and female players and it was a success for them in discovering/getting to see players ,who, with the regular national selection process would have never been seen or discovered...and who have since been given the chance be a part of the national set up in that country.

What all yuh think....

General Discussion / WHY SOME GYAL/MAN FASS SO??
« on: June 23, 2006, 05:34:31 AM »
Just like with de law...when de police make a illegal search (no search warrant, not following proper procedure to obtain evidence etc)
de same way de evidence is inadmisable...which sometimes leads to de case getting thrown out or de defandants beating de case....

1.  Do you think this 'law' should apply to personal relationships if your spouse (behaving like a police ;D)obtains evidence via a illegal search that you are/have been involved in 'lawlessness'??

2. Does this 'law' apply in your present relationship??

example: your gyal/man goes into your personal belongings (cell phone, email account etc) and finds texts/emails confirming that you're ingaged/have been engaging in 'lawlessness'...if and when you are confronted...

3. are you in de right if you said??..'well that's none of yuh business, yuh wasn't supposed to go een dey in de first place' ;D,like yuh wukking CID....better we done cause i cyar handle this setta police behaviour...etc.

General Discussion / WOULD YOU??
« on: June 14, 2006, 04:28:49 PM »
when i was coming up(and to this day) there was a unwritten code between the fellas in my circle (brethrens from de area  and brethrens in school) that your brethren's ex(ex:meaning: someone you had a serious relationship with..feelings,history etc.) is off limits(providing you and him still brethrens)...

would you take it as diss, catch feelings,be distant with your boy/girl etc. if they had or persued a physical or personal relationship with a ex of yours??...take my definition of ex above before you respond...

General Discussion / BIG ?tion!!
« on: June 04, 2006, 05:34:45 AM »
All yuh since TriniCana start de thread with de Toronto terror plot..and due to ah scene that play off with me inside Dupont Subway Station(Toronto) this week gone here..

Scene:  Walk een Dupont station...ride de escalator downstairs...walking towards de ticket booth as ah reach near de ticket booth 'BOOOOOOOOOOM' de ground shake...when a blink ah lie down flat on de floor.. ah thought a dead...then everything kick een..brain start wuking again...start feeling up mehself to make sure all meh body parts still dey..alright everything in tact.. start crying(seriously)..say two quick thank yuh jesus..that said...tears in meh eye, football bag in meh hand...is a pace upstairs to get out de station cause i not waiting around for a second one...run home (1 minute from station) reach een side put de tv on channel 24(news channel) and ah waiting to hear de words terrorist attack,al queda, bin laden etc...from outside i could hear real fire siren  ah swear de whole neighbourhood bunnin down...low and behold news story buss...a train derailed off de tracks and there was fiery blast/explosion no human casualities fire crews.police etc on de scene....and all this time i cussing bin laden and al queda mother inside out..
But in all honesty/seriousness i glad wasn't nothing like that...which brings me finally to my point and reason for this thread....

With all the conspiracies/wrong doings etc. that have surfaced and been brought to light surrounding 9/11 and it's buildup and execution...do you think that bin laden, al queda were scapegoats for something that was much bigger than them and their organisation or a attempt to create fear, a diversion for another political agenda (excuse to invade countries etc.)??

General Discussion / Crow Bar Rape??New Rape Drug??..Ladies BWARE!!
« on: June 01, 2006, 02:19:34 PM »
RAPE AT CROBAR and drugs that make women sterile

A woman at the nightclub Crobar on Saturday night was taken by 5 men
who according to hospital and police reports, gang raped her before
dumping her.
Unable to remember the events of the evening, tests later confirmed the repeat rapes along with traces of Rohypnol in her blood, with
Progesterex, which is essentially a small sterilization pill. The drug
now being used by rapists at parties to rape and sterilize their
victims. Progesterex is available to vets to sterilize large animals.
Rumour has it that Progesterex is being used together with Rohypnol, the date rape drug. As with Rohypnol, all they have to do is drop it into
the girl's drink. The girl can't remember a thing the next morning, of
all that had taken place the night before.
Progesterex, which dissolves in drinks just as easily, is such that the
victim doesn't conceive from the rape and the rapist needn't worry about having a paternity test identifying him months later. The drugs effects are not temporary- They are permanent! Progesterex was designed to sterilize horses. Any female who takes it will never be able to
conceive. The bastards can get this drug from anyone who is in vet
school or any university. It's that easy, and Progesterex is about to
break out big every where. Believe it or not, there are even sites on
the internet telling people how to use it.
Please mention this to everyone you know, especially girls. Be careful when
you're out, and don't leave your drink unattended. Please make the
effort to pass this onto all you know.. Guys, please inform all your
female friends and relatives. This has now been reported to have been
used on 360 women around London. Girls, keep your drinks safe at all
times, and men, look after the girls you're with.

It seems to be a stereotype in many different circles that caribbean/trini/black/small island men/women are fascinated with foreign(especially white women/men)and as soon as they(we) move to foreign countries that's the 1st thing they(we) look for. (Reason i started this poll.)

Seeing that Kenwyne is a natural defender..do you think he'll be more useful to the Warriors playing in defense??..especially with our need to tighten up defensively.

SCORING SENSATION TO JOIN LYNX

THURSDAY MAY 18, 2006[TORONTO, ON] The Toronto Lynx announced today the signing of high-scoring striker Kevin Jeffrey.  The Trinidadian most recently played with the Richmond Kickers, and helped lead the squad to a shoot-out loss to Seattle in the USL First Division Final in 2005.  He will be joining the club as soon as his international clearance is received and all of his travel documents have been finalized.

Jeffrey has scored 52 times in 6 seasons of A-League/USL-1 play with both the San Francisco Bay Seals and the Richmond Kickers.  His pure scoring ability will be welcomed by head coach Duncan Wilde who has seen his club shut out in all three matches played so far.  ?He is the type of player who can make a difference immediately for  our squad.  The league is highly competitive this year and we?ll be in a tight battle for a playoff spot.  We have struggled to find the net and with  Jeffrey as a proven talent in our league he will help us immensely.  We are looking forward to having him on the pitch with our boys?, said Wilde when reached for comment.

As for Smithy I know him personally and he's scheduled to leave Trinidad on the 8th of June to join the Whitecaps camp providing all the paperwork is finalised by then. Vancouver has been showing interest in the striker/midfielder since his impressive 18 goal season while playing for the Calgary Mustangs in 2004.

Football / UK Cops Foil Plot To Kidnap Yorke's Son!!!
« on: May 19, 2006, 11:23:08 AM »
Taken(as exactly written) from the Caribbean Camera Newspaper...There is also a similar article on www.myvillage.co.uk!! The Caribbean Camera is USUALLY a reliable source but this story seems somwhat 'sketchy' to me...can any of you guys in the UK etc. shed some light or  confirm this story.

The British police have stopped a sinister plot to kidnap two children in London, among them the son of the captain of Trinidad and Tobago football team for the 2006 World Cup,Dwight Yorke.

According to a report, the mother of Yorke's son, supermodel Jordan, and her husband Peter Andre have spent the last 3 months under police protection since the kidnap plot was unvieled.

Police said the kidnappers planned to snatch either Harvey,3,who is Yorke's son,or Jordan's other child,Junior, age 11 months, who is Andre's son.

The report said British detectives discovered a gang of foreign and London crooks planned to take one of the children hostage and demand 1 million (pound) ransom.

The threat was described as "very real".

Yorke is a celebrity in Britain, having played for Manchester United as one of its star strikers alongside David Beckham. In addition to his duties as T&T captain, Yorke is also currently contracted to Sydney FC in Australia.

Yorke is currently training in England with his T&T teamates in preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

A panic button and a monitored alarm system have been installed at Jordan's 750,000 (pound) country home in Maresfield,East Sussex, and she has a bodyguard  for when she goes out.

An official Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed:"The Metropolitan Police specialist kidnap unit are investigating intelligence about a threat to kidnap and extra security has been put in place to protect the family."

General Discussion / Zen Carpark...ALERT!!..ESPECIALLY LADIES!!
« on: May 16, 2006, 09:17:04 AM »
This thread is for de females especially...even in de mix of all de excitement to go and party...PLEASE be aware of yuh surroundings...not only when going Zen..but everywhere for that matter.. :beermug:

I just wanted to share a nightmarish experience that happened to my
bestfriend and I, in Zen's carpark the day T&T played Peru (10th May)
Please pass this to all your female friends who go to Zen or any nightclub
for that matter. I don't want to invoke fear by sending this email, but I
don't want this to happen to anyone else either. Be careful!!
On Wednesday night, Zen had a big football party so my friend and I  decided to go.
We got there at about 11:20pm and pulled into the Carpark. This is the
Carpark on Keith Street which gives way to the public tennis court. This
carpark is not very well-lit but we thought nothing of it as we know that
Zen has 'Security' who used to do patrols and there were lots of ppl there
that night. Anyway, we pulled into a parking spot and we sat in the car
putting on lipstick and our shoes. We noticed a car parked next to ours
with a guy leaning on the trunk and another guy in the car speaking on his
mobile but, unfortunately for us, we didn't make anything of it.
As we opened the door to get out, 1 guy jumped in on the driver's side,
another on the passenger side and one in the backseat. They not only
wanted to steal the car but they wanted to ensure that we could not
escape. We started to scream and fight back and scream some more, but I
tell ya... they have mastered a technique where they shove their palm up
under your nostrils whilst pressing against your mouth and simultaneously
jamming the other hand against yr throat.. yes it's as effective and scary
as it sounds... not a breath of air!!! They're saying to each other ' doh
let them get out... try to get them in the backseat' while trying to find
the car keys which, in retrospect lucky for us, fell onto the car floor
  during the commotion.
Anyway, so we're still trying to scream and struggle which is difficult,
to say the least, whilst not breathing. They managed to pin my friend
between the driver's and passenger seat where the handbrake is located. I
get 2 feet out the door and the guy in the driver's seat grabs me by my
hair literally and drags me back in. I have 1 word to summarize that..
EXCRUCIATING!!  As they are trying to stifle our screams, I was able to
free my hand and I started to honk the horn. When they tried to stop that,
  I would scream again.
At this point you might be asking where was the Security?? Who knows?
Finally a guy in a Hilux van (our rescuer) who happened to pass thru the
back by the tennis court, heard the honking and noticed the commotion. He
stopped his vehicle and was trying to assess the situation. All the while
our assaulters were trying push us to the ground and appear normal. I
started to bang on the windscreen at this point and the guy realized sthg
was definitely wrong. He also started to honk his horn at which time the
Security finally realized sthg was wrong. They came running towards us and
the assailants jumped out of the car and started to run towards the
  Savannah, not to be found.
So boys and girls, the moral of this story is to please please please be
careful. I can't help but think of my numerous female friends who take the
occasional lime here and there; which is what I still plan to do. But I
still can't stop myself from occasionally thinking about the "what-ifs".
So again, look at your surroundings; if you go to Zen, drive up to the
security before parking and have them park with you; note that when the
driver opens his/her door all the other door locks automatically open
(this is how they got into the back seat), finally go with God and be
  safe!

Football / Funny Words from L.A. Galaxy's #10(to me at least!!)
« on: April 17, 2006, 09:15:20 PM »
I thought the part where he says..'i don't know if he meant to'..is pretty hilarious..this fellar not easy nah.

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD LANDON DONOVAN

On his assist:
"I wanted to dribble by them or give it to him (Cornell Glen) early, but he kind of floated across and there wasn't a hole to get it through to him. So, I took my time and I think got by (Claudio) Suarez and I looked up and (Glen) was kind of fading away. I just tried to put it into a good spot and it was a good finish too. I don't know if he meant to, but it was a good finish."

On the Galaxy's first goal:
"The goal kind of came out of nothing. It was a bit little surprising that out of all the good things that we did and the good play, we got a goal just kind of scrapping in the box and it falls to Cornell. But, I don't think anyone can say that we didn't deserve to win the game."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY FORWARD CORNELL GLEN

On the game:
"It feels great to score two goals. I was walking a tight rope; I missed like four good chances in the first half and I had to get those back. But, it is not just me. I scored two goals, but it is a whole team effort and the team played well."

On his goals:
"After the first half, I just had to keep my head up and keep going to try and get the goal. I just knew it was going to come. It was just a matter of time. The Lord blessed me and I got one."

LOS ANGELES GALAXY HEAD COACH STEVE SAMPSON

On the game:
"I was very pleased with the first half and how we possessed the ball and creating chances. Cornell (Glen) had two very good chances in the first half; if he had just slipped (the ball) a little bit sooner I am sure he would have scored. But, most importantly, I liked the way we played, but then to give up that early goal in the second half was just disastrous and inexcusable. I really enjoyed the way our guys fought back and never gave up believing in themselves. I liked the fact that Cornell Glen finished his chances in the second half, he was very down on himself at halftime and the guys picked him up. He wanted to make a statement in the second half."

Football / Cornell Glen Update!!
« on: April 12, 2006, 07:39:29 PM »
I spoke to Glen today...after what he described as a very hectic, yet enjoyable day..which consisted of moving the majority of his belongings from Denver to his new residence in Los Angeles, having his first official practice with his new squad and finiding out that he was selected for the T&T WC squad. If his msn messenger screen name'ah going an light it up in Germany' didn't say what was the number one thought on his mind..then de fact that he had Maximus Dan's 'Fighter' on repeat for de whole convo(which lasted for quite a while)said it all.Despite the evident tiredness in his voice,it was no secret that he was in a EXTREMELY confident /jolly mood...he listed some of the reasons for his mood....
1. Feeling very comfortable and at home with his new squad(especially considering that he hasn't spent much time in the city or with his new team/teamates)
2.The kinda of love and respect that he's gotten and been shown from the LA organisation..teamates,coaching staff and fans.
3.The fact that LA Galaxy practices(so far) have been centered around the attacking formation of him and Herculez Gomez up top with Landon Donavan right behind..hinting that he may start this weekend against Real Salt Lake.
4.Physically and fitness wise he's never felt soooooooooooooo GOOD in his professional career.EVER!!
5.And obviously....... his WC Squad selection.
I could keep going..but..i have to leave material for de Cornell Glen exclusive interview...coming soon!!! if all yuh have any questions that y'all would like asked in de interview PM them to me.
Laterz. :beermug:

Charges for cop held in abduction     (note how dey describe de person he get charge with nah..well yes..talk bout detailed description.

Wednesday, April 12th 2006

THE police detective suspected of kidnapping foreign used car dealer Ramesh Mahabir was expected to be charged with the crime last night.

The officer, who is attached to the Guard and Emergency Branch, along with a Bobo Shanti Rastafarian is expected to appear before a Port of Spain magistrate today.

The constable who is currently on suspension was arrested at his Valsayn home at the weekend.

Mahabir was kidnapped at gunpoint from outside his business place R&R Imports on Friday around 6 p.m.

He was found abandoned in a forested area in the hills around Wharf Trace, Maracas Valley, St Joseph on Monday.

Mahabir is the fourth person to have been kidnapped for this year, compared to 15 for the same period last year, a drop of 73.33 per cent.

In a statement yesterday the Ministry of National Security refuted claims that foreign used car dealers were being targeted.

The ministry said of the four kidnap victims this year, one was a used car company employee, (Mahabir), the son of a funeral director and a fabricator.

Jokes / 'Trini Technology'
« on: April 12, 2006, 04:00:49 AM »
Three men, an American, a Japanese, and a Trinidadian were all sitting naked in a sauna.
Suddenly there was a beeping sound. The American pressed his forearm and the beep stopped. The others looked at him questioningly. "That was my pager," he said, "I have microchip implanted under the skin of my arm."
A few minutes later a phone rang. The Japanese fellow lifted his palm to his ear. When he finished he explained, "That was my mobile phone. I have a microchip in my hand."
The Trinidadian felt decidedly low tech, and not to be outdone he decided he had to do something just as impressive. He stepped out of the sauna and went to the toilet. He returned with a piece of toilet paper hanging out from his butt.
The others raised their eyebrows and stared at him. He finally said,"
Well, will you look at that, I'm gettin' a fax.

Jokes / When I say I'm Broke,I'm Broke!
« on: April 12, 2006, 03:41:15 AM »
When I say I'm Broke, I'm broke!

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner. "Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners."
"Go away!" said the old lady. "I haven't got any money," & she proceeded to close the door.
Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door & pushed wide open. "Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen my demonstration." And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet. "If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder."
The old lady stepped back & said, "Well I hope you've got a damned good
appetite, because they cut off my electricity this morning."

Interesting Read!! :o :o :o :o :o

The national security forces of Trinidad and Tobago in late 1987 included the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, both of which were under the Ministry of National Security. The Defence Force consisted of approximately 2,130 personnel distributed among the army, the coast guard, and the air force; the Police Service included about 3,000 members, divided among the police and the fire and ambulance services.

Recruitment was voluntary, and many of the officers had been trained in Britain. In 1986 the army, the ground forces arm of the Defence Force, had 1,500 personnel organized into one infantry battalion, one reserve battalion, and one support battalion. The army had no heavy equipment or armored vehicles, and its rifles and machine guns were all of British origin. The coast guard, which was the naval arm of the Defence Force, had about 580 personnel and 13 patrol craft in 1986. The larger naval vessels included two 200-ton Swedish patrol vessels and four 100-ton Swedish Vosper patrol craft. The air force became a separate branch of the Defence Force in 1977; by 1986 it had about fifty personnel, one Cessna 402, and six helicopters, operating from bases at Piarco International Airport and Crown Point Airport.

Newspaper articles in 1986 and 1987 indicated that equipment in the armed forces was deteriorating and poorly maintained. Very few of the 150 vehicles in the Defence Force were believed to be operational in early 1987. In late 1986, four coast guard vessels were said to be inoperable, and three of the five customs and excise launches were reported to be down, with repairs delayed indefinitely because of lack of funds. At the same time, there were reports of large-scale arms smuggling into Trinidad and Tobago from Grenada, Barbados, Venezuela, Colombia, and the United States. A group of highly sophisticated "special operations" weapons-- including the Israeli Uzi, the Soviet AK-47, the 9mm semiautomatic and automatic Beretta--and even sniper rifles with an infrared lens were being sold in Trinidad and Tobago. Most households had a gun, and there was a ready market for small arms, but the final destination of the sophisticated weapons was not known.

Although the Police Service has existed since colonial times, it was not until 1943 that a local man was appointed a commissioned police officer from the ranks. In the mid-1980s, the Police Service was divided between the police and the fire and ambulance services. In 1986 the police had eight divisions--seven on Trinidad and one on Tobago. Branches included a riot control unit (called the Police Mobile Force), units for highway control and crime investigation, and a court and process unit, which was responsible for preparing court cases up to committal proceedings. Although most police personnel were trained at the Police Training School, trainee constables were occasionally sent to Britain for additional training.

Approximately 14,000 serious crimes were reported to the police in 1985, a rise of 43 percent since 1976; nonetheless, prosecutions for these crimes only rose by 700 to 2,856, and convictions fell to 550, a drop of 531. There were ninety-nine reports of murder and twelve of manslaughter in 1985, compared with sixty-eight and fourteen for the same crimes in 1976. The only convictions obtained for any of the crimes just mentioned were four murder convictions in 1976. Despite a nearly fivefold increase in prison expenditures from 1976 to 1985, the daily average number of prisoners only grew from 1,048 in 1976 to 1,110 in 1985. The number of individuals committed to prison did expand to 4,231 in 1985, an increase of 81 percent over 1976.

Drug trafficking presented serious national security problems in 1987. In April 1984, the Chambers government appointed a commission to examine the drug problem. Two years later, the commission produced the Scott Drug Report, which was suppressed by Chambers and not released until the NAR took over the government in 1987. The Scott Drug Report described an explosive increase in the use of cocaine, attributing it to Trinidad and Tobago's location on the trade route between the producers in Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia and the main market in the United States. It implicated five cabinet officials in the PNM government, as well as customs officials, bank executives, and many policemen, some of whom held senior posts. Police Commissioner Randolph Burroughs, who had been tried and acquitted in 1986 on murder and drug-related charges, resigned a few days after the Scott Drug Report was published.

Promising a national crusade against drugs, Robinson suspended fifty-three police officers, four magistrates, and a customs official and asked for stronger legislation permitting confiscation of property acquired with drug profits. He named Louis Rodriguez, a former member of the commission that prepared the Scott Drug Report, as police commissioner. Rodriguez had been working with authorities at the airport to strengthen security at Piarco International Airport, cited by the Scott Drug Report as one of the main ports of entry for cocaine. A special police task force, set up by Robinson to deal with drug trafficking, was reported to have destroyed millions of marijuana plants throughout Trinidad and Tobago and conducted dozens of raids against cocaine dealers.

Bridget Brereton's A History of Modern Trinidad, 1783- 1962 gives a comprehensive discussion of events in Trinidad and Tobago until independence and is particularly useful on the rise of the PNM. Eric Williams's many books and speeches, especially his autobiography Inward Hunger, are invaluable in showing the thinking of the man who was the most important influence on independent Trinidad and Tobago. Jack Harewood's The Population of Trinidad and Tobago and Female Fertility and Family Planning in Trinidad and Tobago provide a good understanding of population trends. Information on health care is available in the Pan American Health Organization's Health Conditions in the Americas, 1981-1984. Supporting statistical evidence for health, education, and welfare may be found in Trinidad and Tobago's Annual Statistical Digest and Report on Education Statistics. Book-length studies on the economy of Trinidad and Tobago are few. Most research on the country appears in various academic journals. Likewise, there are few well-centralized sources of data on the economy, causing statistical variations. The best statistical and analytical annual publications on the economy are the government's Central Statistical Office's Review of the Economy and the Central Bank's Annual Report. Selwyn Ryan's many studies of politics and the electorate in Trinidad and Tobago give insight into events as seen contemporaneously. Paul Sutton's "Black Power in Trinidad and Tobago: The Crisis of 1970" describes the crisis from start to finish, and Scott B. MacDonald's Trinidad and Tobago is one of the few sources that covers the whole postindependence period. (For further information and complete citations, see Bibliography.)
