THE MAN CAN COACH!

What you guys think?

You may have already heard the rumours, but apparently there will be a vote to determine whether the CONCACAF qualifying group, will be lowered to top 3 spots instead of top 3.5. The reason for this possible vote is that the CONCACAF teams aren't strong or skilled enough to deserve 3.5 places for the World Cup. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Before you vote, let us consider the variable that could change or leave alone the qualification standards.

Trinidad was the ".5" team that had to play a playoff with Bahrain, if that .5 spot wasn't there we wouldn't have made it. However we did put on quite a show and shocked the world with a 0-0 draw with Sweden and we held England to nothing for 82 minutes. I believe we definitely deserved to be there.

USA had a quite unexpected World Cup with a 1-1 draw with Italy, but they still failed to qualify for the second round. USA ended in second place in the CONCACAF division and ended with the same amount points and the same record as TNT in the world cup, maybe they did deserve to be there, they fought hard against a "dirty" Italian side and pulled off a huge upset.

Costa Rica failed to win or tie any of their games in the World Cup and left with 3 losses. They did create quite a shocking display when they tied Germany, however they lost at 4-2. They played hard, but Equador was also too strong for them, maybe they didn't deserve to be there.

Finally, Mexico, a team that lived up to their expectations and beat Iran in their first game, then they tied Angola and lost a close game against Portugal 2-1. They were the only CONCACAF team to qualify for the second round, but after a enduring extra time finish, they lost 2-1 to the Argentines who are a obvious World Cup favorite. For fighting hard, comming close to pulling off a huge upset and their creative attacking play, Mexico definitely deserved to be there.

My opinions may be biased, but I tried to use results to back them up.

I beleive that we do deserve the current 3.5 spots of qualifying for the world cup. These teams can only build from here, especially Trinidad and Tobago with their impressive debut. And isn't this what the World Cup is about? To show diversity throughout the styles of play when the top 32 nations of the world get together for the greatest tournament in to the world? I would like to think so.

Lemme know what you think

Act now! during a BASEBALL! that's right, a BASEBALL game, the commentor of the Blue Jays vs. Tigers game on June 9th 2006, made some sarcastic comments towards the outcome of the Trinidad and Tobago vs. Sweden game. I know the odds on paper are against us, but a commentator needs to be more professional than that, especially when broadcasting throughout Canada. We are not a laughing stock! Let rogers know how you feel as a Trinidadian! Send them as much hate mail as you can! make them publicly apologize. This isn't fair.

Here is the e-mail address, I've already sent mine. feedback@sportsnet.rogers.com

Football / This is not a good sign of things to come
« on: June 03, 2006, 11:37:10 AM »
After watching the Soca Warriors get defeated by the Czech Republic 3-0, I don't feel very confident in our team going into the world cup. We are officially a week away from our first game against Sweden in the world cup and if we can't get a decent attack going during a game, the chances of winning are slim. Sure it can be debated that this was only a friendly game and TNT didn't put out their "A" game, but I really didn't like what I saw. I saw alot of holes in our defense. Holes that Sweden, England and Paraguay will easily take advantage of.

Don't get me wrong. I am still a Soca Warrior supporter to the end, "win or lose" but I think that TNT were more prepared for the World Cup after playing their second game against Bahrain, then they are now.
This is just my opinion, there is no need to critisize it.

I would like to here what everyone else has to say.

I got this pic from the official fifa world cup site, I just thought some may be interested.
It's got nice design, but maybe a bit more black in it. I really like the flag near the back.

Football / Possible TNT Special Editon Kit? (Pic)
« on: May 24, 2006, 11:15:13 PM »
Does that adidas training kit on the socawarriors.net home page have a TTFF logo on it? IF so, then maybe that is the special edition kit adidas has been promising us. It looks exactly like the teamgeist designs, so it is possible. Just throwing it out there. If anyone can find a bigger pic of the team training with that jersey, Please post.

Thought I update you guys on what is going on in the gaming world. Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 which will be features on the PS2, Xbox 360 will include Trinidad and Tobago along with all the teams that made it to the World Cup. Unfortunately, the game will come out in North America a couple of months after the world cup even has taken place. I is scheduled for Quarter 4 of 2006 which is in the September range.

As I said Trinidad and Tobago are in the game and here is a pic of them i found (courtesy of Gamespot.com)

Kind of pathetic looking, I know. Atleast the gameplay is amazing. But unfortunately, too little, too late for us in North America (unless you get a japenese version)

Hope this helps!

Football / Fifa World Cup 06 game out today and i got it!
« on: April 25, 2006, 03:03:26 PM »
I bought the game for xbox (until i get my 360)

The game is decent, the gameplay still can't touch winning eleven, but a lot of national teams are in there, not just the ones that made the cup. I started qualifying and i'm in the second round. The kits for TNT are authentic. Haven't seen the long sleeve yet, I'll see if it changes when i play in colder weather. The players not really looking like we players except Birchall looks pretty real. Most of the goals you score are from through ball break-away shots but its still good, but not great.

Overall, the presentation is excellent, the national anthem plays while showing highlights at the end of the game that you won, which is a nice touch. The gameplay could be better, a lot better, but still no complaints. As for a world cup game, and the only world cup game this year, it is great. Definitely worth the $40 Canadian or $30 US and any Soca Warrior fan with a PS2, Xbox, Pc or Xbox 360 should pick it up. I would give it 8.2/10.

Yesterday I went to yonge sports near eaton center in Toronto to hopefully purchase a TNT supporters jersey and I couldn't believe this sh!t I was seeing in the window selling for 49.95 Canadian! For all those who haven't seen it before, its a black shirt, kinda of the material of a training shirt, and it has a adidas logo printed on the top left side and a TNT flag (which is about the size of the adidas logo) printed on the top right with the name "Trinidad and Tobago" printed on the back with the number "06."

I was thinking of buying it...that was before I actually saw the shirt. Its horrible, I wouldn't even wear that shirt if someone gave it to me for free, honestly. I rather stick to my Yorke Finta kit instead.

Comparing the shirt I saw to the kit we actually using, we Adidas kit the team wearing looking like the best kit in the world. I can't believe adidas is feeding we this crap. According to yonge sports, they aren't getting to official kit so i guess we Canadian Trinibagians go have to either order a kit online or contact some family members to get one back home. Even the supporter jersey KFC was selling for the Bahrain matches looking 10 times better than this one and I may be under-exaggerating.

Adidas really need to change this marketing plan and start giving Canada the real ting. I think I can probably make a better shirt than that with a iron on graphic or something.

Just thought I would inform and share than info ;)

Football / Change of heart on the new Adidas kit?
« on: February 28, 2006, 04:16:07 PM »
After watching the game, for anyone who was fortunate enough to watch the game on tv or via Sportal, do you really think the new kit is that bad looking. I did have some negative comments towards the new adidas kit, but now I have had a change of heart after watching them being worn by the Soca Warriors.

I like the black shorts with the red shirt, it matches real nicely and for any fan, it would look rel good with a pair of black jeans or pants.

If you think about it, sure, Germany and them have that new teamgiest designs for their jersey, but ours is different, no other team in the world cup will have a jersey that looks even close to ours. Our jersey is as unique as we are as a nation. So we should be proud of the kit that is provided and wear our Trini colours with pride!

And if anyone knows anyone who is selling the jersey's on ebay, please post! Authentic or Replica, I don't care!  ;D

PS. BIG UPS to Sportportal for hosting the live feed of the game, it was a bit scary at first, but them came through, and BIG UPS to Flex for telling us about it.

Football / take a look at this jersey
« on: December 13, 2005, 07:32:44 PM »
I got this jersey customized. Yes, it is a Germany jersey, but its for a good reason. Since the Soca Warriors are going to Germany in 06, I decided to get this done. Just for memories.

Front

Back

I was going to put Soca Warriors on the back, but then I decided to stick to the name of our country so more people would understand the name on the back. Just thought I would share that with the rest of the community.

P.S. This isn't a edited image in anyway. I actually have this jersey.

Football / Video highlights of TNT vs. Honduras game?
« on: July 08, 2005, 12:06:54 AM »
anyone know any site that shows the highlights of the Trinidad and Tobago vs. Honduras game?

I live in Canada and I couldn't watch the game on tv, but I listened to it over online radio.

I didn't get a chance to see Birchall's goal and I really want to see it. Thanks for any help.

Flex,

if you want me to, I can make a Soca Warriors website banner with Adobe Photoshop that I have at home. I specialize in graphic design and I am a huge fan of the Soca Warriors (being a Trinidad native) so I want to put both together and make a new banner for your amazing site.

you can reply in this forum or in a personal message if you want, just let me know the dimensions of the banner and I will let you know about design plans I have for it.

Thanks

Football / Anyone buy a TNT football jersey???
« on: April 07, 2005, 07:20:28 PM »
If anyone here has bought a TNT jersey in Trinidad can you please let me know how much you paid for it in TNT dollars. If you didn't buy it, but you know the exact price, can you let me know.

Also, is it available with a name and number? If so, then how much is that one? And are they also selling the shorts? again, can you tell me the price.

I know there is a site where you can buy the TNT football jersey online, but I think that its a little bit pricey for a "Finta" brand jersey with shipping costs and all that nonsense. If anyone actually bought the TNT jersey online, was it worth it?
is the material good? If you got it with a name and number, does it look good/proffesional?

Thank You for any input

Football / Latapy as assistant coach???
« on: April 07, 2005, 02:35:31 PM »
I personally don't think Russell Latapy should be TNT's assistant coach. It's just ridiculous to put a skilled player that is currently playing for a league team, to become a assistant coach. In order to make this run to the World Cup, we need our best! We already have a seemingly great and qualified coach, now all we need is a fully skilled roster.

It's time for Latapy to stop thinking about disagreements with former team members and his league team, and start thinking about his national team.

Nothing will beat the satisfaction of playing for your country!

GO TNT!

Football / Anyone create team TNT in any football video games?
« on: April 06, 2005, 05:36:29 PM »
I know that most football video games, there is no team TNT! I just wanted to know if anyone created them on games like Fifa 2005 or Winning Eleven 8 (Pro Evolotion Soccer 2)? I tried to create Trinidad on Winning Eleven 8 but its just not the same because the ratings aren't accurate for the players.  If anyone tried or did accurately created team Trinidad and Tobago on any video games, then give details on how you did it.

If not, then can you try to find me a list of all the current TNT players who are playing for league teams? leagues such as MLS or the English Premier league?

Thanks
