Every time I watch Barcelona they always leave a player offside just to cause confusion in the defense of the opposing team only to have a player like messi or pedro start a run from about 10 yards in front of the last defender, then someone like Xavi or Iniesta plays a ball over the top, the defense laps thinking a player is offside then all of a sudden Messi or Pedro get a running start on all the defenders and just has to make a pass to the player who was originally offside to score……
What do you think?
Is this unsportsmanlike like conduct?

Kaka set to be confirmed as a Real Madrid player
By Soccernet staff

June 8, 2009

Brazil international Kaka appears certain to be confirmed as a Real Madrid player after completing a medical on Monday.

Kaka: Madrid move on the horizon

The 27-year-old AC Milan playmaker was given permission to meet with Real officials between World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay and is thought to have passed both initial tests and a full medical at the national team's base in Recife.

Providing there are no last-minute problems Kaka will become Real's first signing following the return of Florentino Perez as club president.

If the deal is concluded the fee is expected to be £56m, which would smash the previous world record of £47m paid by Real to Juventus in 2001 for Zinedine Zidane and could be the first in a new wave of 'Galáctico' signings.

Kaka, who converted a penalty in Brazil's 4-0 win in Uruguay on Saturday, has refused to discuss his future since joining up with the Brazil squad last Tuesday.

When he last spoke publically about his future, Kaka insisted he was desperate to stay at the San Siro, but the economic realities of such a huge transfer fee mean Milan are eager to do business in order to provide new boss Leonardo with transfer funds. Ironically, it was Leonardo who helped persuade Kaka to join Milan from São Paulo in 2003.

Confirming that the medical had taken place a statement on the Brazilian Football Federation website read: ''The technical committee of the Brazilian national team attended the request of Kaka and the board of Real Madrid and released the player to perform the routine examinations in a clinic in Recife.

''The CBF had to make all the arrangements for the test through its Medical Department head Jose Luiz Runco, who accompanied the player during the tests.''

Regardless of whether a deal is completed on Monday or early on Tuesday Real Madrid will have to wait before they can parade Kaka at the Santiago Bernabeu due to Kaka's commitments with Brazil.

After entertaining Paraguay in Recife on Wednesday, Brazil begin their Confederations Cup campaign against Egypt next Monday and will be in action until June 28 if they make it through the tournament.

Football / Corinthians set $10m release clause for Ronaldo
« on: December 18, 2008, 10:24:27 AM »
Brazilian giants Corinthians have set a release clause of $10.6million for Ronaldo.

The 32-year-old has arrived at the Sao Paulo club for one year as a free agent, and Corinthians clearly intend to make it difficult for anyone to tempt him away in that time.

Director of marketing Luis Paulo Rosenberg said: ''Corinthians are protected.

''We already thought about him leaving the club. We have paid nothing to sign him and would receive 25million reais if he quits.

''It would be the best business in the history of the club.''

Rosenberg is sure Ronaldo will not leave Corinthians before December 31, 2010 - even though the release figure is not insurmountable for the richest European clubs.

''There is no chance for Ronaldo to quit. The world is running out of money.''

Rosenberg also cited previous interest from Manchester City - although his recollection that the Barclays Premier League club made an offer is at odds with word from Eastlands last summer, when they reported they eventually chose not to pursue the player.

''He has recently had an offer from Manchester City but preferred playing here,'' said Rosenberg, who added all the agreements signed with the companies interested in using the image of Ronaldo will also have a compensation clause if the one-year contracts are broken.

''If Ronaldo wants to quit and the company also want to, it will not be that simple,'' he explained.

''Everything will have a clause. There might be an interest in the player, but the shirt is Corinthians.''

Government lays into England skipper: Terry's wages are 'obscene'

Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe has condemned the amount of money being paid to England captain John Terry and described his Chelsea salary as “obscene”.

The Sports Minister said that by taking a £135,000 weekly wage, the player was typical of the growing alienation between top-flight footballers and fans.

In his first significant policy speech since being appointed, Manchester United fan Sutcliffe said: “The man in the street can't recognise that sort of money. It's obscene. There is an increasing alienation between top players and fans.”

He also criticised the treatment of fans in the top flight compared to lower divisions, criticising United for raising ticket prices and effectively forcing fans to buy Carling Cup and Champions League tickets as part of a contract.

He contrasted the deal offered to fans of Bradford City, in his own constituency, where a season ticket costs around £120 and has drawn crowds of around 14,000 per home game.

But a spokesman for Mr Sutcliffe said there was no plan for Government intervention on Premier League wages and that Mr Sutcliffe was merely seeking to highlight the issues.

He also criticised UEFA and the European leagues for not doing enough to tackle racism, and recommended that they should punish such acts by deducting points from the offending clubs.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba believes teammate Michael Ballack should have signed for Arsenal or Manchester United.
"I'm convinced he would have had a much easier time at Manchester United or Arsenal," he told the Guardian. "At Chelsea we depend on our individuals.

"So maybe Chelsea is not the right club for him."

Ronaldo returns to Milan squad for Shakhtar match

MILAN, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Ronaldo has been included in AC Milan's squad for Tuesday's Champions League Group D match at Shakhtar Donetsk after three months out with injury.

The Brazilian striker missed the start of the season because of niggling leg problem but is now ready to take his place in the squad for the first time this term, Milan's website said on Sunday.

Milan lead Group D with six points from three games, the same as Ukraine's Shakhtar, who lost 4-1 at San Siro two weeks ago.

However, the European champions have not won at home in Serie A this season and Ronaldo's return to fitness will be a big boost given their woeful domestic form.
